Hello! I wanted to share my process of how I made my Easter Pony! She is my second ever custom and she made all the trouble I had with the first one seem like a walk in the park in comparison ಥ_ಥ Let's begin!
DISCLAIMER: Custom ponies like this one are not to be played with by children nor made by children. This pony was made with the use of nail polish remover (acetone) which is toxic. You need to wash your hands throughly after use and use in a well ventilated area. This pony was also made with sharp tools such as an xacto knife, sewing pins, rehairing needles, and an awl.
Tumblr media
First, the concept art! Trial and error caused her to look a little different than the concept art but I still love the end result!
Tumblr media
I wanted to start with a white base to give myself a clean canvas for dyeing so I got this G3 Breezie off Ebay for only $3. I decided to first remove her mane and tail which requires removing the head. If you know anything about G3 pony customzing, you know their heads are difficult to get back on once they come off. Even when you run them under warm/hot water. So to get it back on for dyeing, I tried trimming a little excess of vinyl off the neck ring with my xacto knife. It slipped and got me right under my nail! Bad omen for what's to come!
Tumblr media
After getting her prepped (removing her mane and tail, cleaning her, using acetone (nail polish remover) to remove her cutie mark) she was ready for a dye bath! I used Rit DyeMore as regular Rit Dye won't dye the vinyl material that ponies are made of. This was my first ever time dyeing anything that wasn't fabric so I was thrilled when she came out this warm rich brown! So pretty!
Tumblr media
I read online that dyed ponies will leach dye onto other ponies if they touch, so I wanted to try and prevent this as much as possible with some matte sealer. Lesson #1: Even though she was dry, the matte sealer reactivated the dye! The smallest touch left a print! :(
Tumblr media
I pushed forward! And tripped immediately after! I thought, "Surely matte Modge Podge will seal her just that much more" and to my dismay, the Modge Podge kept every brush stroke I made when it dried!! She looked like a leather hand bag! ˚‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥᷄⌓˂̣̣̥᷅ )‧º·˚ I learned later you can buy matte Modge Podge spray online but all I had was the type you brush on to your surface.
Thankfully, with the help of sixteen cotton balls and a q-tip with acetone, I managed to remove all the sealer but she was no longer that nice rich brown. Oh well I still loved her!
And whoever said the paint will protect the eyes from the dye has clearly never dyed a dark pony! Her eyes were so brown after this lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Painting, adding of polymer clay easter themed confetti, and adding her 3D chocolate bunny cutie mark went great! It was all going well until the eyes.
I had never fully painted pony eyes before so the first attempt was pretty bad. Not even my multiple attempts at glitter and using clear nail polish as a cheap gloss on the eyes could save them.
It was so bad that I almost didn't take any pictures but when I went to seal her head, this weird white powder covered half of her face?? I had never seen this before and it freaked me out thinking I just ruined her. I managed to get it off with a cotton ball and some acetone but her paint was fully damaged.
Turns out this was caused because I didn't shake the can of sealer well enough. I needed a break....
Tumblr media
While I took a break for a few days, I decided to watch tutorials on how to paint doll eyes and learned that it's actually pretty common to use high quality watercolor pencils; either Faber Castell or Derwent (which is what I ended up buying).
When I came back, I made the hard decision of removing all the paint and decorations from the head and starting over. Hours of work gone but it was so worth it! 🩷 Removing the paint with acetone ended up making her head lighter than her body so I had to redye her head lol. This time I mixed Derwent pencils with acrylic paints for her eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Time for the hair! I've never done curls before and my original plan was to buy curly hair online but it's so hard to find in the color and curl size I wanted.
So my second idea was to buy small curlers to use on regular nylon doll hair bought from ShimmerLocks on Etsy. But when I tested them out on poor Flower Bouquet it looked so bad ಥ_ಥ
I discovered a Youtube channel you may know called Dollightful where in one of her Stock Box videos she used yarn that she unraveled to make super cute tight wavy hair for a doll. It was a perfect solution! It looks so good but omg it was tedious haha! I used it for her tail too; sectioning off the colors hoping they'd stay separated (they didn't lol).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She's nearly complete! Time for small decorations! I tried so many different ears from air dry clay to stealing some from bunny decorations I bought at the store and nothing was working! But I had one last idea...
I gave these old Littlest Pet Shop costume bunny ears some use with a flat top sewing pin and some glue so now my pony has bunny ears! Yay!
I forgot it in the concept art, but I originally wanted to add flowers to her mane but I couldn't figure out how to do that without glue which I didn't want to do, too permanent, so I opted for some beads I had on hand. I didn't have any light blue so I made some with the use of acetone (nail polish remover in my case) and boom! Light blue beads! Then I washed them off so the acetone wouldn't damage anything :)
I used a gold topped sewing pin, a butterfly charm, a felt flower and two faux flowers to create a cute hair accessory!
Finally I sewed a hair tie to a puffball to give her a removable cottontail if I ever wanted to take it off.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And DONE! She looks so good after so much time and effort! I worked on this girly for two weeks I think? She actually had a partner I designed but I've run out of time to make her :') Maybe next year? 👀 🩷🩷

What’s the most complicated doll/doll piece you’ve made?
Do you have headcanons about your dolls?
(I can’t make this text regular size, tumblr is being wacky </3)
It's all good! Thank you for sending in your questions, they're a delight! ^^
22. What’s the most complicated doll/doll piece you’ve made?
This is a tricky one that can have about five answers. XD So I'm gonna give you a top five, with photos!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First is the most recent of the bunch. This is Elara Roux, she was for an Autumn Court collab. This doll's dress is one of the most elaborate garments I've crafted (and here I am wanting to sew it again for a Christmas tree doll, send help ^^''''). She's one of the hardest dolls to get to stand properly between the poofy dress not playing well with stands and the antlers adding a bunch of weight. I have to say, I'm very proud of her antlers, they were difficult to sculpt but a lot of fun, and proof that I'm getting better at polymer clay. She's also my first doll with vitiligo, which was a fun challenge to take on. I love her, so so much. She's difficult to photograph, but we're learning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dina the Dryad was a lot. She has a bunch of body sculpting and painting, a new arm and hand, and during her project, the humidity was hurting my sealant so much. Her face went through a couple iterations before I could fix it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kendra is one you don't hear me talk about much. I was in hell trying to make the resin work. I mixed up too much pigment (and the wrong pigment, seriously don't use alcohol inks with UV resin, bad idea) and it wouldn't cure properly, so her gems and the ball details on her lower half were difficult. She's also my only doll with alcohol inks coloring the skin, which I like the look of, but it was very messy. XD I love her face so much though, the lotus details on her eyes are something I need to give to another doll.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Norman is the most unconventional doll I've made. He involved full body sculpting and painting, additional sculpted pieces for his speaker and shoulder reel, a head made out of craft foam and a hinge joint so it can open to hold the candle light, wires and chords, aaaahhh, he's a lot. XD Attaching the projector to the doll's head was also a challenge. Honorary mention to Belphene, the doll with the red dress and horns, she's also complicated with those horns and having to draft her clothing pattern for myself. But I have one more pick that's not her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It probably surprises no one that Auran is one of the most complicated dolls of my collection. XD For starters, he's one of my few hybrid dolls. His parts consist of an Invisi Billy head on an Obitsu male body (yes I ordered a special body for him, it was VERY IMPORTANT), and I had to modify the nose with apoxie sculpt to fit his design. His head used to be blue, and painting it to be smooth and have a matching skintone to the body was tough. My dad actually stepped in on this one, we needed to change out the neck peg for a different sized one so the head would stay on. His hair was redone a couple times, as were his clothes. His resin gem on the collar took multiple attempts before I could call it good, and the shoes were a nightmare even though I used a My Scene shoe as the base. I'm super proud of his epaulets, they're polymer clay shaped and glossed to look like turtles, which is caramel with pecans in it and chocolate on the bottom and top. It's one of my favorite things that Mom makes around Christmas time, so naturally he had to have them. He's one of those dolls that I put so much into, and I'm glad I did, but I needed a long break when he was done because it was so taxing. XD Worth it.
24. Do you have headcanons about your dolls?
Oh I have so many headcanons about my dolls! Who gets along, which ones like being next to each other, the things they might talk about while I'm away, there's a lot to think about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two sets surprised me a lot. I made Gail and Delilah separate from each other, but during the time that I was moving, I had to pack up all of my dolls so I could carry them over. These were the two I kept out during that time, and then I photographed them together, since Delilah is one of my favorites, and Gail was recent that summer, and they're both pink and delightful. I think the two of them are long distance girlfriends in my Equinox story, with Gail hailing from the spring kingdom as an assistant to the royals there, and Delilah as a pastry fairy that lives in the central kingdom. They send letters, and maybe someday they'll get to live together. They certainly do on my shelf, these two are rarely seen apart, I never want to put them away.
Marnie and Valencia are a similar story. I made these two beverage witches for the first collaboration I ever hosted, and somewhere in there, they ended up as girlfriends. XD Marnie is the studious bookworm that's always working hard while at the cafe, whereas Valencia is very chill and embraces the vibes of the beach. There's something charming in how opposites attract.
Thank you for the questions! If anyone would like to ask more, the ask game is here!

i’m throwing this at u bc i shake ur hand all the time with ur m9 headcanons n whatnot.. modern nein go to the carboot sale. i always picture yasha having a van so i imagine they throw a bunch of stuff at her for their stall n then run off. no one wants to haggle with yasha n idk if she’d be too big on shopping.. essek might stick with her but also would probably follow along with caleb. but i imagine veth molly n jester buy yasha things anyways. jester would be selling some handpainted tote bags n stuff i think.
veth would raid everyone’s button n bead bags and would point out old grandpa jumpers to caleb while he looks at 20p books. jester would also be looking at beads but rlly she’d just look at everything, esp old stuffed animals.. she wants to give them new homes.. fjord n beau would probably still with yasha until jester drags beau away to look at a cool stall n fjord wanders off to look at like fishing equipment or old sports brand sweatshirts. molly is all over grandma’s jewellery from the 60s/70s. he buys flannel shirts for yasha n is constantly calling the rest of the nein over to look at stuff with him. cad goes to those big big vans that always have tons of flowers n plants n likes looking at handmade stuff :))
idk i’m missing carboot sales i think.. haven’t been to one since i was in like the single digit ages
oowaa ;;_ ; good. .. love thems. yasha quietly manning their stuff from her van is so good. she's like "No other offers. it is £2 :-l" and no one argues. i think jes and cad wouldve made sm things like beaded woven bracelets and polymer clay keychains and things like that, also painted tote bags like u said :-3 !! also cads extra plant seedlings (like, a million tiny spiderplants or tomato plants too) and also dried lavender sachets. also he has ear defenders on because some people are loud n have music playing sometimes . .. not a car boot sale but im thinkin of this big secondhand market i went to in berlin , it was so cool, so many things to look at, and some tasty waffles too (the ones shaped like flowers, with powdered sugar) :-3 . . also so true. .veth would be in all the button n bead bags :-3 someones selling a box of spare buttons n she starts th most intense haggling ever. meanwhile calebs silently looking (also wearing ear defenders) at all th books. .perhaps he finds some vry old (but not worth much) books and buys them all because theyre v niche and have interesting covers. also for sure gets all those grandpa jumpers .. . also keeps an eye on th ancient musty corduroy things molly finds some more old fabric to turn into things, and also some Ridiculous boots. like so tall, so shiny and uncomfortable but he's like Oh, perfect >:) , and oh! also he haggles for A Lot of rings. lots of shiny trinkets to make lots of noise , and definitely buys something because he thinks its cursed (and then cad tells him he cant bring it inside until its been sitting in the garden for a week to be Cleansed of ghosts or somthing). oh, speaking of garden, i think cad the carboot sale is where cad gets lots of plantpots :-D even slightly janky teapots and cups get turned to planters because he doesnt want to drink from them because they feel incorrect. and he buys seeds to grow :-3 also also wuahg yea ;w; yasha's got her flannels and maybe found a book that had pressed flowers in it and bought it to go with hers ;;w; also probably found another strange instrument perhaps. . .. and everyone meets up before going home when theyre all conked out n they all go get zemnian herzwaffeln and apfelschorle :-3

Raise Your Words by Kelsey Garland
“Raise your words, not your voice.
It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder.”      – Rumi
Acrylic, Alcohol Ink, Dried hydrangeas, preserved bumble bees and Polymer Clay encased in ArtResin
8 Inch Circle – 1.5 inches thick – 1.75 lbs
**NO Bees were harmed in the making of this painting – all preserved bees were already dead when found**
A piece that encompasses all of my favorite mediums into one, ohh how I love to encase different things in layers of Resin.
This mixed Media artwork is made with ArtResin primarily, but each layer is entirely new process. The background layer is made with alcohol inks, mixed with dried flowers and a little alcohol ink, I also added 1 preserved Bumble bee that I collected from my yard. On the next layer I attached some hand-crafted polymer flowers that I painted and then painted several bees in Acrylic – I also added one more preserved bumble  bee. Next, I added a clear layer of resin for layer 3, and on layer 4 I painted more bees and added polymer flowers to give the piece more depth. layer 5 was a gloss coat to cover the whole painting and preserve it.
I enjoy working with resin and creating layers with my paintings, I love to use Resin as a substrate and no other backing, this allows me to create a painting of whatever size/shape I want and have clear edges where you can visiably see my layers of work. I also love working with nature and collecting items I find on my nature walks. you will often find skeleton leaves, shells, rocks, dried flowers from my garden and sometimes preserved bees  or butterflies in my artwork. All of which I collect and preserve myself for future artwork.

However, after they despatched the painted "final" proof, the top they painted was NOT the unique head that I had painstakingly worked with them to approve through the molding process. —————————
Being in an art block was not the funnest thing in the world and you decided that maybe going outside would be nice for your mind to maybe get the gears turning. Wearing a long flowy skirt and a cardigan to keep you warm just in case cool winds would come in later in the day.
You had forced Draco to wear anything other than black seeing as the sun was out and shining and you didn’t want to see your boyfriend heat up to one hundred degrees. He’d brought a book with him to read and his head was laying against your shoulder.
✧·゚: *✧·゚:*
You were drawing a frog's face that was spaced out to almost look in the detail of a ring, when your eyes widened in realization and happiness. ‘Finally out of the art block’ you thought as you called for the blonde leaning against you-
“Draco” He hummed in response, still reading his book as you shook your shoulder making his head shoot up and look at you. “I think I have the best idea of what we could do, make rings out of clay,” you said with excitement as he looked down at the book in your lap.
“Make rings out of clay?” He snorted as he looked down at obviously expensive rings as he said, “I think my rings are better than clay, you can have one if you want.” He started to slip off a silver ring that had a snake detail engraved into it. You stopped him by putting your hand over his, making his face scrunch up in confusion and look at you.
“No Draco, I just think it’s a rather creative idea and it’s better than just buying one from the store. “Look at this,” you pointed at the elongated frog face on your sketchbook with your pencil and gushed, “wouldn’t that be so cute as a ring.”
He was perplexed at the idea of doing something by hand and enjoying it. He was barely ever in his kitchen unless it was to eat the food made by the house elves and most of the time he hadn’t even pulled out his own chair. “I could always get you one custom made for you. You know that right,” he said looking at you as if you were some kind of homeless puppy in need of a home.
A breathy laughed emitted from you; amused at the fact he couldn’t comprehend the meaning of actually wanting and enjoying things done by himself. “Love no, that’s not the reason. I think we should make it ourselves because it’ll have more personality to it. Isn’t it always better to get a real present than money? And you could alway just watch me instead of doing it if that’s what you want.”
“No and Yes. Money is better and I’ll do it with you, I’m used to your--oddness now.” He joked leaning his head back to its spot on your shoulder. “Very flattering Draco.” You jerked your body back as his head hit the blanket underneath you.
“Ouch-- what was that for?” “Sorry Draco, it was only an accident,” you lied as he hesitantly put his head back eyeing you scared that you would move again. “Draco I’m not going to move you can go back now,” you said in an unconvincing tone trying to make him paranoid.
“Yea. Alright,” he muttered tenderly laying back down, his head hovering slightly as you started to draw more designs.
✧·゚: *✧·゚:*
“Alright this is all we’ll need,” you said excitedly looking at the table in front of you. There was polymer clay, paint, paint brushes, and a craft oven. You showed him the other designs you’d come up with including a bear, pig, and a duck. “Which one do you think you like best?”
“You made them, so I like all of them.” You raised your eyebrows at him trying to contain a smile at his compliment. “But I’d have to say the frog is one of the best.”
✧·゚: *✧·゚:*
“Bloody hell where did you get this from? I think it may be bad,” the boy said five second into kneading the clay with the green paint. You sighed as you went closer to his side, “Draco, It’s clay it’s not going to be a bit hard.” Huffing, he went back to kneading as his eyes went wide looking down at his stained hands, “You never told me my hands would turn green”
“Obviously. It’s paint. We’ll wash our hands when we’re done anyways.” You had gotten done with your second ring, which was in the design of a bear when you decided to see how Draco was doing.
You laughed as you looked at him; his face was crunched up and his tongue out touching the top of his lip as he tried to get the pupil directly in the center of the frog's eye. “It doesn’t have to be perfect love, it’s for fun.” He just dismissed you with an ‘mhm’ his eyes never leaving the what he would call the ‘challenge’ in front of him.
A few minutes went by when you were both done with four rings each. You put them into the oven as you and Draco talked about different things at school. About how he’s going to ‘Get Pottah back’. You hadn’t even known what he had done to cause Draco to get ‘back’ at him. But what was the point in trying, there was always something?
When you took the rings out of the oven, you watched as he admired the frog he had worked so hard on causing a smile to come upon your face. “I’ll admit this came out better than I thought.”
“I agree, they did come out pretty good,” you said back hoping he would say something else. After a sew seconds he caved in,“Alright fine, I’ll wear the frog but you have to match me.” An excited smile came over your face as you laid a kiss on his cheek. “Of course, I knew you’d come around.”
✧·゚: *✧·゚:* Bonus
“What’s that on your hand Malfoy,” Theodore teased. He, Draco, and Blaise were all up in their dorm about to go to bed when he caught sight of the ring on his finger. “It’s a frog ring if you want to know so badly, I made it with my girlfriend,” he said, putting emphasis on the ‘girlfriend”.
“Something that you clearly don’t have the capability.” He gestured to the boy’s face with a look of disgust painting his own. A loud laugh emitted from Blaise’s mouth, “Nott just please go to sleep now, ‘cause you know it’s true.” Ever since Blaise started dating some Ravenclaw he sat by in potions, Theodore had become the fifth wheel whenever everyone hung out.
The boy hastily pulled the blanket over his body and quickly pulled the string turning off the lamp, almost snapping it off. “That was uncalled for Malfoy, I hope a spider crawls up you while you’re sleeping,” he grumbled, causing the blonde’s mouth to clamp shut and take a large gulp. The sound was heard as Blaise started to laugh again “Shut up Zabini,” the boys said in sync as he only laughed louder.

I just love your handmade furbies so much!!! The clay faceplates turn out so good, they really look authentic! Out of curiosity, are you working off of a tutorial to make the faceplates? or just sculpting them from scratch? I'd love to give it a shot but I'm not sure where to start haha, I'd appreciate any advice you're willing to give ^-^
<3 <3 <3 Thank you so much!!!! <3 <3 <3 \(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)/ ♡ \(●^◡^●)/ I'm glad you think so!!!! (This made me smile, so really, thank you!)
I didn't use a tutorial for my faceplates, I looked up reference photos and was able to figure out the shapes from there. I’ll try to explain it the best I can in writing, though I do have a tendency to overexplain things and end up writing a lot, so bear with me and my rambling, if you don’t mind  ┐( ̄ω ̄;)┌
For the base of the faceplate, I rolled out three balls of even amounts of clay, flattened them, and attached them together into a three-lobed shape, then smoothed out the seams where they connect. It's kinda like making three even pancake shapes and connecting them into a sort of "triangular" formation (I really hope that makes some sense ¯\_ (・⋏・)_/¯ ).
The eyes are round shapes with a flat underside to be attatched to two of the lobes on the faceplate. (I don't really know what to call them other than "lobes”, maybe rounds?)
For the eyelids, I rolled out four even little sausage-shaped pieces of clay and flattened them a bit, then curved them around the edges of the eyeballs with a lidded, but still open-eyed look.
The beak pieces are like if you made a sphere of clay, cut it into two halves and then flattened one side of both of them, so they can be attatched together to the lower part of the faceplate, with the round part facing out.
After that, I baked the clay (since mine was polymer clay, but other types of clay work too) and painted everything.
I hope that this at least helped a little bit, sorry if it’s confusing, but that’s the best I could do in writing. I’m sure there are other tutorials out there that would be easier to follow, and having reference photos is always good ( • v •)b ☆
But anyway, thank you very much again, I appreciate your kind words, and I’m happy you like my work. [It’s also quite flattering being asked for advice, too.] ( ノ,,,ᵕ ω ᵕ,,,) っ <3
I hope you have a good day, afternoon or night ☾✧*。
♡♡♡ Take care! ♡♡♡

~Hello!~
So I’ve made a few changes to my blog recently, and gave my Etsy a bit of a makeover as well, so I thought that among all these updates, it might be nice to do a bit of a re-introduction of myself and my work for anyone who’s new here.
So yes, hello! I’m Ash, and I’m a 26 year old artist from the US. I mainly focus on painting with gouache, making jewelry and crafts out of polymer clay, and taking photos.
My work tends to focus on nature and wildlife with a vintage-inspired style. I love woodland creatures, flowers, and forests. I also love baking and baked goods, and in fact some of the first things I ever made out of clay when I was younger were miniature desserts, which I plan to make more of in the future.
On this blog I mainly post my paintings, photography, and items that I’ve made for my Etsy shop, but there are also the occasional pictures of my cat.
If you’d like to see examples of my work, you can check out the “My Art” tab on my blog, where there should be a drop down menu with the different kinds of art I make. And if you think that someone you know might enjoy my work, please do share it! I’ll leave links to all the places you can find me down below.
If you have any questions about my process, what supplies I use, anything like that, feel free to ask. Or if you just want to say hi, that’s cool too :)
And finally, thank you so much to those of you, old or new, who have supported me or my work in any way. I hope that I can continue to make things that you’ll enjoy <3

Introducing some very special hideous little boys! I’ve been working on these figures of Kenny, Cartman, Stan, and Kyle and had a lot of fun. They’re made out of wire, polymer clay, foam, paint, felt, and a lot of glue. Their hands and legs are opposable and they stand on their own. They’re also available for sale if anyone is interested, either individually or the whole group! Message me by Wednesday, December 9th if you’d like to accept these assholes into your home. I’m also taking holiday commissions of little figures like these! I’d love to make more, no matter who or what you might want. One figure would be $75 USD and less for an additional figure. I’ll give a special discount for other South Park characters, too. Spots available: 1) TAKEN 2) 3) 4) 5) Thank you for looking :’)
