Now i AM thinking about cranb and oran in relation to the gang. Cranb only encounters the rest of them briefly and does not know that they are so similar. Butler is intentionally a Same Font kinda guy and similarities in their demeanour are sort of noticed by people who would know them both but not gone further than this. I think Oran is just a socialite in the same crowd as the masquerade.

How do you think Lyaria and James react to Hubert’s pining? And would they reciprocate?
Cause I imagine Lyaria either knowing but not reciprocating, or Lyaria not realizing Hubert’s trying to flirt and doesn’t assume any romance in their friendship.
And for James, I imagine he very much knows about it, and doesn’t know how to approach it. Cause Hubert’s not ugly, he’s a very pretty person and he’s a nervous sweetheart, like c’mon that’d make anyone flustered. James doesn’t know if he reciprocates those feelings of if he’s just amused by it.
Butler and Billiam laugh about it but they support Hubert being a flustered disaster XD
Liaria Knows, she definitely knows, and Hubert knows she knows and so do Billiam and Butler. They all have a quiet laugh about it when Hubert's going "woughghogugogugh,,,, woman 😳" and he's definitely caught them doing that a few times. She's also seen him looking at James the same way(cause even if his face is covered by a mask, his body language betrays everything if you know how to read it), so she never says anything about Hubert's feelings, assuming they're either the same or stronger for James than for her. And really, he's a nice guy in his own way, she'd hate to make him sad(or to dirty her own reoutation) by being with him and therefore preventing him from being with James. (Polyamoury ain't really a Thing at this point in time)
James, meanwhile, also knows, but he's sad and depressed and also drunk half the time so he thinks he's either imagining it or he starts talking down to himself and never says anything about it either unless he's really drunk. Hubert's gotten a few offhanded comments from him saying he should "find someone better" and it "wouldn't work anyway." He just pats James on the back and gives him some water. James does find it amusing, when he's not constantly drunk or sad about himself, how Hubert's wings will flutter and how his hands go weak when he's pining hard over him. He is mostly unaware of Hubert's pining towards Liaria and everyone's agreed to not tell him until he figures it out on his own. (He never does, and after enough times seeing their dead bodies, Hubert kind of forces his crush to break.)

He hums, relaxing his tail. It sways slowly from side to side happily. “I heard a tiny tried to make a break for it in the kitchen.” Now that was eventful. It was the closest anyone had ever gotten to escaping before. The cooks–even the rest of the colony got riled up. “They didn’t get very far, obviously.”

Any ideas for Hubert having a crush on both Lyaria and James?
I love that idea so much
I love that idea too, it's fun. Hubert met both of them through Billiam-James at a party Billiam was also attending and brought Hubert along as his plus one, and Lyaria in town when she and Billiam were meeting the same business associate. Hubert started having feelings not long after, though he didn't act on them and just tried to act normal, for the most part. Even so, he still does a few things.
When it comes to James, Hubert will just sit down and listen to him ramble on about whatever it is he's rambling about. He likes listening to James talk, it's nice. And James definitely appreciates the company.
As for Lyaria, Hubert will also let her take him aside for a chat and some company. They'll walk together sometimes and just talk about things, enjoying each other's company.
He'll prioritize serving them over other guests if Billiam is the one doing the hosting, doing his best to keep them happy and make sure they have a good time. If he's simply accompanying Billiam somewhere, he simply and subtly makes sure they're both treated as well as possible.
Another thing he does is occasionally give them little gifts, sometimes anonymously, sometimes in person. Not anything too expensive for the most part, and nothing particularly flashy, just simply little things he thinks they'll like, just to show that he appreciates them.
He doesn't think he has a chance with either of them, mainly because he doubts they'd reciprocate his feelings- James was married when they met and has children, and Lyaria doesn't take suitors as far as he knows. There's also the fact that he's a servant, a commoner, at in their eyes as far as he knows. Even so, he's fine with how things are, for now at least.
He doesn't want to ruin things by confessing his feelings, doesn't want to make things more complicated than they already are. He has a feeling that Billiam knows about all this, but he isn't sure.
Long story short, Hubert is down bad for both of them and they probably have some idea of what's going on, they just haven't said anything. Hubert's life is kind of a mess, but he thinks it's fine, for the most part.

Oh he was an absolute bi/pan disaster during that period XXXXXD He kept getting confused on which one he could pursue, bc he likes both of them but Liaria is more societally acceptable but James is always sad and he wants to make him happy but then he'd be giving up Liaria and??? It just confused him beyond belief and cause him to short-circuit a Lot if he thought about it too much hsgdjshd. Mans didn't know that being poly was a thing hsvshdhd
He has Absolutely courted both of them by accident too. Bird brain makes him give the crushes pretty things, and then a minute after he leaves, he realizes what he just did and goes "Ò////Ó!!???!?!?!"
Butler has absolutely noticed this before and had a quiet laugh about it. Also made a few faces at Hubert and made them embarrassed, especially in the middle of a party that both James and Liaria are attending
Billiam knows that Hubert is crushing on them both through word of mouth(a.k.a Butler snitched on him lmao) but he doesn't really do anything about it. Just sighs affectionately and pats Hubert on the head whenever he sees them being a flustered disaster

"Asteropa Betelgeuse" Backstory
Asteropa left her hometown "Lyaria" to explore past her hometown. She comes from a lineage of knights but she decided to stray from that lineage. "A star's fate", is her clothing shop and she hopes to harness the power of the cosmos in the clothing she sews.
Every member of the Circle of the Stars has their own reason as to why they want to harness the cosmos, and hers is to create clothing that reflects the dreams and personalities of the people that wear them. She is a traveling tailor merchant and her customers tend to be a wide range of people. It's often hard for her to sell clothing outside of Tiefling communities and even when she tries, her clothing is often stolen or treated horrible by customers that try out her clothing.
She's found a few good customers outside of the Tiefling community and is eternally grateful for them but still is wary. She does do special commissions but depending on the request it often requires more energy and magic. She sells both non magic infused clothing and infused. She keeps her name hidden as a form of protection of any spells or curses thrown her way given that she's a Tiefling. “Vestera Rigel”, only her true friends and family will ever learn her name.
She doesn't easily trust the experiences that Tieflings face, despite this she longs for connection and if she can, she will reside in Tiefling towns where she knows she can rest easily. It's quite common for Tieflings to hide their own name but thankfully this isn't a well known fact outside the community. Asteropa spends her days traveling and looking among the stars and studying them.
She's a part of the Circle of the Stars and she feels deeply connected to the stars as do those in the circle and she uses her knowledge of the stars as some form of divine reading of not only her fate but the fate of others.
