Unforgettable Love. 8/9
Story: 8
Acting: 10
Chemistry: 10
Comparable to: ?
Cute, cheesy, predictable, fluffy, farfetched, cliche, basically everything you probably saw before that has a married contact / CEO ….yeah you know the type especially in a cdrama but with a twist 😉Seriously though, this is so worth the watch if you love romantic fluffy romcoms. The child in this is beyond adorable and for me steals almost every scene. Yes, the storyline is a bit outrageous, I mean the whole idea of a child psychologist ‘forced’ to marry to help a child because he wants her to become his mom…… yes it’s a bit 🤪 but you just kind of go along with it. The cast (especially the main leads cause oof) has phenomenal chemistry together which makes all the craziness a bit more forgivable. At least for me it did. This drama definitely won’t be for everyone.

best cdramas I’ve watched since the last one of these posts in 2023 (and some I’m still looking forward to seeing)
A League of Nobleman (watch on WeTV VIP | watch on AppleTV | watch on Viki | watch on bilibili | watch on YouTube) Adapted from the novel "The Mystery of Zhang Guo" (张公案) by Da Feng Gua Guo (大风刮过) starring Jing BoRan, Song WeiLong, Hong Yao, Guo Cheng and Wang Duo. Definitely gay, but in like a very focused, we-have-a-mystery-to-solve way. Loved the acting and the plot; cannot believe people actually gave Song Weilong shit for his acting in this drama. He was aMAzing. The downside is that the editing grew progressively sloppier as the drama progressed, and although majority of the visuals were very satisfying, I never realized how crappy the quality of the light was until I tried gifing some of the scenes. The upside is Jing BoRan holding kittens. Enough Said. 7/10
The Blood of Youth (watch on Viki | watch on YouTube) Adapted from the novel "Shao Nian Ge Xing" (少年歌行) by Zhou Mu Nan (周木楠) starring Li HongYi, Liu XueYi and Ao RuiPeng. Love this goddamn drama. I adopted the entire cast within the first 3 episodes and then I spent the next 37 terrified that half of them would get killed off. There’s def some major character death in this drama my chickens, so keep that in mind (and not a canonical death either, from what I understand). Anyway, this is my fave genre by far so I’m never really picky, but this drama is exhilarating and gorgeous from beginning to end. Highly recommend. 9/10
New Life Begins (watch on iQIYI | watch on Viki | watch on YouTube) Adapted from the web novel "Qing Chuan Ri Chang" (清穿日常) by Duo Mu Mu Duo (多木木多) starring Bai JingTing and Tian XiWei. Just sweet and fluffy. The plot is easy and devoid of complexities, but very satisfying nonetheless. The acting is definitely on another level. The entire cast has bonkers chemistry, and it’s about time someone made good use of Bai Jingting’s comedy potential. One of the top 5 easy viewing dramas on my rewatch list.  8/10
The Legendary Life of Queen Lau (watch on Viki | watch on YouTube) Adapted from the web novel "Huang Hou Liu Hei Pang" (皇后刘黑胖) by Ge Yang (戈鞅) starring Li JiaQi and Li HongYi. Loved this. Although it doesn’t shy away from difficult subjects, this is basically a comedy from beginning to end. Not gonna lie, I mainly gave this a go for Li Hongyi, but it’s hard to even notice him when Li Jiaqi is in the room. There’s no shame in being overshadowed by superior talent :) 7/10
(yeah, after all this, I rewatched Nirvana In Fire again)
Under the Microscope (watch on Apple TV | watch on Bilibili | watch on iQIYI VIP | watch on Viki) Adapted from the novel "Xian Wei Jing Xia De Da Ming" (显微镜下的大明) by Ma Bo Yong (马伯庸) starring Zhang RuoYun and Wang Yang. Continuously impressed by Zhang RuoYun’s skills. This drama is 90% grit and tension. Drool-worthy visuals. Interesting plot. Sound mixing that gives me a Mo Ran style boner. Make your friends watch it and they will hate you. 9/10
Till The End of The Moon (watch on YouTube | watch on Apple TV | watch on Viki) Adapted from the web novel "Hei Yue Guang Na Wen BE Ju Ben" (黑月光拿稳BE剧本) by Teng Luo Wei Zhi (藤萝为枝). Starring Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu. This was so breathtakingly gorgeous. The chemistry between the actors, the visuals, the special effects, the costumes, everything is stunning in this drama. The romance is by no means original, but still manages to draw you in. Absolutely worth watching at least once. 8/10

more link click headcanons as I ride the bus
The more I walked around the city, the more I noticed piles of cat food left in random street corners, stairways, and sidewalks. People will genuinely just leave little disposable cups or piles of dry cat kibble for the stray cats to eat. Naturally, Lu Guang is responsible for many of these.
Cheng Xiaoshi takes the BEST pictures of Qiao Ling whenever she asks for them. She will never tell Xu Shanshan this. Cheng Xiaoshi has the photography squat down like a king. Although she never posts them on social media, her self confidence quadruples whenever CXS gets her best angle. It’s also the only time any stranger will ever mistake her and CXS as a couple because both parties will happily spend a whole hour taking pretty photos of QL in some photogenic spot. Lu Guang takes that hour to wander off and get a lemon tea.
This isn’t a headcanon so much as a note for anyone who would like to know, as well as it will add a fun little sprinkle for anyone who continues reading my longfic spinning silk—the Guang in Lu Guang’s name is 光,which means light or brightness. Do with it what you will.
Growing up, Cheng Xiaoshi’s mother would refer to Qiao Ling and Cheng Xiaoshi as her two little bunnies, after the children’s rhyme. Qiao Ling at three years old made that a permanent fixture in her aesthetic.
Personally, my headcanon is that Cheng Xiaoshi is the originator of his and LG’s abilities, but Lu Guang has the advantage of time hopping to seem to understand their abilities sooner than he does. CXS’ parents also have some magical side to them, vaguely related to photography.
Lu Guang was raised mainly by his grandparents, and is very close to his Yeye. His parents had gone abroad to get their masters but died in a car accident when he was a toddler, so he doesn’t really have memories of them. Personally he would say he had a good childhood and was loved if not a little spoiled. He looks at photographs of his parents whenever he’s feeling vulnerable, though.
Qiao Ling’s parents out of respect of Cheng Xiaoshi’s dignity will claim that he will need to pay off a 10 year debt, but secretly they refuse to hold him to it. Cheng Xiaoshi as a little one would freak out about living away from the studio but also was terrified of spending a night alone, so there was a period of time where her dad would literally sleep on the sofa overnight just so that he would feel safe.
Just a factoid for you to do with it what you will—if you intend to put a photo or something on someone’s grave or urn, traditionally it should not include the living in it. So you can’t have a photo of yourself with the deceased on their grave because you are still alive. That being said, while Lu Guang has no interest in taking photos of himself alone he treasures the photos he has of himself with CXS. To him, it is either a promise or a threat, and he doesn’t mind either.
Cheng Xiaoshi has absolutely suggested that he and Lu Guang become sworn brothers Jin Yong style, and was 100% sober at the time.
bonus: Lu Guang’s cat rest stops

I present to you the wall of text that red peafowl posted by google translate
Tumblr media
"Lui Pheng" graduated from the Police Cadet Academy with a First Honor Roll. He has a disabled brother named "Lu Ma Yun" who has "Si Hao", a close friend who takes care of him. And in just the first year that Lui Pheng has made a lot of achievements. But behind the wonderful mission that made him a name, Lui Pheng had to hide something.
The psychopath mafia who calls himself "Hongkong" (Red Peafowl) likes to see the scar on his limb, which is the result of the mission he was captured. Lui Pheng doesn't dare to tell this to anyone. He has to keep it secret with anger. One day he will be able to cage him.
Tumblr media
Hong Kong Shuai has "Ping Ping" as the most reliable close cousin. There are bodyguards left and right are "Lu Seng Shuai" (Related) and "Hua Ku Feng" (Siao Feng), which are the rumors in all gangs that their skills are superior to others. In the past, Hong Kong Shuai once fell in love with the junior is "Tien San" the number 1 skill. But Tien San returned to love and loyal to the fox mafia. "Wei Jin. The agency that Lui Pheng is based on is CIS. There is "Chen Jin" as the head. There is C4 unit in addition to Lui's material, there is "Tuan Feng, Tian Lu and Jackie (who keeps flirting with "Kau Yong", a very mysterious young nurse). There is "Yumowi" a best friend waiting for help. Especially the case of "Thong Pai Su" until both become rivals.
Tumblr media
Lui Pheng was "Tong Chae", former chief of Payam Police Department, planned to marry "Natasha", a beautiful daughter with "Liu Kua Sue" trying to be Kunsue with another one. Most of the cases are caused by 5 big mafia gangs in this Feichi region. 1. The red peafowl gang 2. The Green Dragon Gang 3. The Golden Lion Gang 4. White Gillen Gang 5. Black turtle gang In addition to these big gangs, there are also small gangs who are the biggest burden of Lui Pheng with the police to crack down.
Tumblr media
The dead bodies have "Rufus" the handsome transnational mafia as an ally and another one he trusts, who often come to each other and then the Last Boss shows up unexpectedly in the end to take down the Hong Kong. He and the young cop. Big Y-form. Intense content. Complex mystery. Let's continue this romantic drama.

The Water Outlaws review
Tumblr media
4/5 stars Recommended if you like: Wuxia fantasy, action adventure, renegade heroes, political intrigue Big thanks to Netgalley, Tordotcom, and the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review! TW attempted sexual assault This book is interesting because the characters, by and large, don't turn out to be who you think they're going to be. I don't mean in a bait and switch kind of way or that the characters experience growth, but rather a realistic way. The characters themselves have their own self-conceptions about who they are and what they would do in certain circumstances, just like we form perceptions of the characters, and then over the course of the book, those self-perceptions are repeatedly and thoroughly challenged to get at the heart of who the character actually is. Lin Chong, for instance, has a very strict code of values and believes in both justice and the law, but as the synopsis says, she ends up as a criminal running from the empire. So how does what she's experienced and what she does next fit into her self-conception, if at all? I really enjoy how the characters answer these questions for themselves and it's interesting to see internal conflict dealt with in this manner. The story is told in multiple POV, so we get multiple angles of the things happening both in the capital and in Liangshan. While it might seem redundant to have two POVs for both locations, I actually think it adds to the story because then we can see the various schemes and layers that are going into each move on both sides. Lin Chong is definitely a character that grew on me. She's a straight arrow and believes the law, and empire, is just and that criminals are criminals for a reason. Unfortunately, she still struggles with the idea that the law can be wrong, that the government can be corrupt, even after she's branded a criminal. I'm not a fan of characters who think like that, especially when the corruption is right in front of them, but Lin Chong grew on me. She started to question her own line of thinking and began putting those martial arts skills to use for a good, albeit illegal, cause. Once she decides to be loyal, then she's loyal, and I liked seeing her friendships grow with the other women. Lu Junyi is a savvy intellectual who is a friend of Lin Chong's before she has to go on the run. Surprisingly, Lu Junyi remains an important character throughout the story. When the book opens, Lu Junyi is a socialite who hosts salons where intellectuals can gather and debate anything from science to poetry to politics, with Lu Junyi often taking an active and liberal role in these meetings. As the book goes on, however, she's faced with needing to put that knowledge to use in a dangerous endeavor. Like Lin Chong, she has to examine who she thinks she is and who she actually is. Lu Da is introduced as a friend of Lu Junyi's but ends up becoming sworn-sisters with Lin Chong. In contrast to the other two women, Lu Da is brasher and more impulsive, interested more getting things done than in thinking things over thenacting. She's an exceptionally loyal character and willing to fight to the end to protect those she cares about. Lu Da is also someone who isn't afraid of owning up to their mistakes. At times her narrative did make her feel younger than she actually is, like a child in an adult's body, which I wasn't a fan of. Wu Yong is another bandit with Liangshan and is the major strategist of the group. While we did get her POV, it was hard to fully grasp her plans and motivations since so much was left unsaid. I didn't really like her at first, but once we got a peek inside her head, I ended up liking Wu Yong a lot more. She has, as mentioned, a tactician's mind and I liked seeing how she schemed and came up with contingency upon contingency. Cai Jing is the grand chancellor for the empire and is really a mixed bag. He's definitely not a good person, but he's also not totally unlikable (which is kind of shocking). He fully believes that everything he's doing is for the good of the empire, which makes him a dangerous enemy to have. And like Wu Yong, he's good at planning for multiple contingencies. With him as one of the antagonists, I really did question whether the Liangshan Bandits could/would win. The last 20% or so is probably my favorite. There's a lot going on there but it's fast paced and interesting. I liked the battle in particular since we get to see a lot of different strategies brought out and it's really the only major showdown in the book, so I enjoyed being able to root for the bandits. I will say that I think this book could've been shorter. It was hard for me to get going and the action doesn't really pick up until ~40-50% of the way through. I would've liked to see some of the earlier parts compressed so that we can get to the main plot faster. The science bits were kind of hard for me to follow. There was a lot of technical work going on and some of the speakers weren't always coherent, so I had difficulty understanding what was happening. I know what the end goal of the experiments was, but I suppose I'm kind of confused still about what exactly the scientists were doing and how they were doing it. Overall this is a good book, particularly if you're looking for an action/adventure. Some parts of it dragged and I found some parts hard to follow, but the Liangshan Bandits definitely make up for it and I enjoyed reading their parts.
