You and Astarion had been together for 8 bliss filled months. You knew you were in love with him the day he asked you to be his. Yet you never said it. He hadn’t said it either. Honestly, you were still amazed he was with you. You knew your size wasn’t perceived as conventionally attractive or desirable. It used to bother you, but you were quite comfortable in yourself now. Until it came to Astarion. It was like you were trying to hide any and all fat on your body when he was around. He had never made any negative remarks, quite the opposite actually. You just knew one day he would wake up and see through the honeyed fog of lust and find somebody who matched him. Somebody perfect, just like him.

You watched as Karlach played in the stream, she had such a child-like wonder about her. It made you happy to just be in her presence. Shadowheart sat on the shore with you, meditating. Everyone else was back at camp.

“Come on Y/N! Come play!” Karlach yelled, splashing a bit of water at you.

You got up wading into the water up to your knees. Thankfully you wore shorts and a massively oversized top. You felt comfortable enough around everyone to be seen like this. You and Karlach flicked water at each other, finding rocks and shells to take back to camp. You talked about nothing and everything. Gale and Wyll made their way down, even Lae’zel. The weather was just too good to not enjoy your little beach. You didn’t see Astarion make his way down the hill. He walked up behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist. You lurched forwards, not used to touching as you were still nervous about it - especially when he touches your waist/stomach. Your foot slipped on the soft mud beneath you, you fell forwards. You caught yourself, avoiding any injury but you were soaked. Your clothes clung to you, your body on full display. You scrambled up, crossing your arms over your torso. You pushed past Astarion as he held a hand out to you. You rushed up the hill and to your tent, stripping your clothes off.

“Darling? May I come in?” Astarion said from the front of your tent.

“Not right now Star.” You tried hard to hide the waiver in your voice, or the subtle sniffles you were letting out. You layered on clothes, wanting to hide within yourself somehow.

“Love…” he said, barely peeking inside.

“I said not now! Please just go away…” you yelled, sounding harsher than you intended. You laid on your bedroll, curling into yourself. You cried until you fell asleep, the moment earlier exhausting and overwhelming you.

Astarion backed away from your tent. He had never heard you yell before, much less at him. He racked his brain, not exactly sure what he did wrong. It clicked after a moment, he touched you. You two had never established boundaries verbally but you knew he was ok with touching. You, however, were only ok with light touches that didn’t really invade your person. Holding hands, a kiss, caressing your face - all things he had done before that you seemed to be happy with. But today, perhaps he had overstepped. When he saw you and your radiant smile, so full of joy to just exist in the moment looking for shells and splashing about with Karlach. He acted on instinct, without even properly thinking it through. He felt positively wretched. Out of everyone he understood most how awful it is to have physical boundaries crossed, and he crossed yours. He walked to his tent glumly. He would seek you out later, right now he wanted to give you the space you deserved.

You woke up later. The crickets outside chirped and you could hear the campfire crackling. You rubbed your eyes. A blanket had been thrown over you, a note was folded up on your table. You got up and snatched it. “Find me when you wake - A” You sighed, closing your eyes. The way you yelled at him echoed in your mind. You were flustered, you hadn’t meant for it to sound so mean. You peeled off your coat, feeling hot and constricted in all the layers you had piled on. You left your tent in a sweater and pants. You felt less anxious than you had earlier, knowing your campmates didn’t care what you looked like. All you cared about was that Astarion had touched your stomach, the spot you were most insecure about. You couldn’t act like it wasn’t there anymore, you had to face him. You willed back your misty eyes, preparing for the worst. You softly called his name outside of his tent, waiting for him to call you in. He did, and he looked just as nervous as you felt. Your stomach dropped but you tried not to show it.

You sat rather far from him, wanting to have space between you both. “I’m sorry I yelled at you.” you spoke first.

“I’m not worried about that darling… I am worried about the fact that I hurt you.” he spoke softly but you could hear the guilt in his tone.

You looked at him, confusion dripping from your face. “I wasn’t thinking… and I know that isn’t an excuse, but I’m sorry I crossed your boundary. It won't happen again… that being said, we need to have a talk.”

Your blood ran cold, a cold sweat covering your back. This was it. You nodded stoically, convincing yourself not to cry.

“I would like to know where you are comfortable with me touching you. I, personally, am comfortable with you touching me wherever, whenever.” he smiled at you gently, a simple twitch up the corners of his mouth.

Well… this is not where you thought the conversation was going. “I…” you tried to collect your thoughts, “I do like your touch. I want you to know that. I love it, in fact. What happened earlier wasn’t anything to do with you, I just…” you paused, unsure if you should even tell him.

He looked at you with his big pleading eyes, you had to tell him or this wall would intrude upon your relationship.

“I am insecure about my… size… my weight. I know you have had many diviner conquests, and you yourself are a vision… I just… I don’t know… I don’t want to disappoint y-” you were cut off by his lips melding into yours. They were soft but you could feel a fire behind them.

“Respectfully, darling, shut up.” he kissed you again, deeply. As if trying to convey a multitude of feelings at once. “You are perfect. And you are not a conquest, you are the one I…” he paused, his eyes flicking between yours before he spoke again. “You are the one I love. And I love all of you.”

You were shocked, you were sure you felt everything about your relationship deeper than he did. And yet, here he was saying he loves you. “I love you… I’m so sorry about this whole thing.” you scooted closer to him, reaching for his hand.

“Don’t be sorry. I understand insecurities, nasty little thoughts that cannibalize you from within.” he cupped your cheek, “You have nothing to worry about. You are perfect, I love everything about you.”

He sounded so sincere you couldn’t help but tear up. “Can we… work on expanding my boundaries? I want to touch you, and have you touch me… I just need some time to get comfortable. Get out of my head, ya know?” you asked, picking at your nails. You hadn’t talked about intimacy with anyone else before, not like this.

“Of course little love… we’ll go at your pace. Honestly, I’m excited to do this with you.” he smiled, his fangs making an appearance. “I love you, endlessly.” he said as he kissed your cheeks before landing on your lips. The kiss was sweet, almost like it was sealing a promise.

“I love you, endlessly.” you spoke on his lips before connecting your mouths once again.

Which ScaVio character do you think or would consider a 'horse girl'? I personally HC Rika as one (she deserves to ride a Mudsdale alongside Geeta and her Gogoat Esmeraldo).

What do you think Arven's Mabosstiff's relationship would be with Nemona & Penny and vice versa? Arven had one-sided beef with Nemona and probably didn't get along with Penny at first, but I wonder how Mabosstiff would feel about those two? At least I do think their interactions would lean towards the positive for the most part. What you do think?

I thought this would be short enough that it didn't have to go under a readmore but lmfao. Lol even! It got long

Ok so to start I want to clarify that there's like a horse girl classification system. Type 1, to me, is just People Who Ride Horses. Rika is a horse girl in the sense that she has a horse and likes horse-riding, but I think she's normal about it. She's capable of being a functioning member of society without bringing up horses, but definitely goes to and participates in horse shows and races and stuff. To me she just seems like the type to ride around for the fun of it all and finds it relaxing. Type 2 is the horse girl that they make the TV shows and books about and stuff. The one who finds the stallion in the fields and is the only one who can tame its tortured soul. They dream of being the special girl who can see into the heart of this beautiful animal and ride together into the sunset. Nemona is trying to pull this off with Koraidon so badly. She wants it to eat sandwiches out of her open palm and to motorbike across the plains of Los Platos. She can see it in her dreams. Type 3 is the horse girl that all the schoolteachers are like vaguely concerned about because they know far too much about horses and have the social skills of one too. Horse girls that are complete fucking freaks. Weirdos. Losers. This was Geeta in middle school. She doesn't like to talk about it but still loves the horse movies

This ask made me realize that while I've talked a lot about the pre-story, during-story, and immediately post-story interactions between the characters, I haven't talked about afterwards. I think that immediately post-game they're all recovering and learning about real friendship for the first time and so they just don't get along well. Healing is hard and they lash out a bit, especially Penny and Arven, and it's only through the protagonist that they stay in touch. As the months go on and they heal, however, they become closer and closer, eventually becoming inseparable friends who all care so deeply for each other. I'll make a post about it later because Oh Boy do I have ideas about it. ANYWAY. Whether or not Arven likes Nemona, Mabosstiff does. That doggy loves to battle by Arven's own admission, and who gives a better battle than Nemona? I think Mabosstiff, knowing Nemona from Arven's childhood, adores her and is super friendly to her. She always gives Mabosstiff the battles he wants and treats and pets so Arven ends up having to interact with her because Mabosstiff will bound up to her every time he sees her. It drives Arven insane that Mabosstiff and Nemona are practically besties. It's the meetcute that begins the "enemies to friends" part of their childhood friends to enemies to friends again relationship cycle. As for Penny: I think Mabosstiff is just friendly and likes everyone, but Penny is a little bit scared of him. She's covered in eevee fur and smells like old pizza, so when she met Mabosstiff for the first time he chased her and jumped on her and tried to lick her face and she definitely thought that dog wanted to eat her. She's still apprehensive, but Mabosstiff is very affectionate and doesn't do much more than beg for pats and give sloppy kisses. Eventually though, she realizes that Mabosstiff is cute and big and harmless, so when they have picnics and Mabosttiff gets tuckered out he runs over to her (since she's usually sitting away from the group) to nap and get pets. She's still a lil nervous around such big pokemon, but gets along with him just fine. Mabosstiff likes her a lot because she's always down to give him some good scritches and has a nearly endless supply of treats. Also she's quiet and sometimes that's good for an older doggy like him

when i watched the pilot for the first time, think my main thoughts were “everyone is so angry on this show” and “wow this buck kid’s a real pain in the ass”. and those were my only thoughts until chimney got a rebar through his forehead and they crashed a plane in the ocean. then i knew they meant Business and i was hooked 😂😂😂

i LOVEEEEEE season 2. 2b especially, it’s just banger after banger after banger. i think it’s a combo of eddie and maddie coming in and them leaning away from the gritty weird darkness of s1 into the lighter hopefulness among the seriousness that is such a hallmark of this series

Oh @curiousnonny So excited for this question. Okay so...

Lucy Gray is not exactly an innocent. She is a performer she understands how sway an audience. I do love Lucy b/c she carries within her the fire that the people of the Seam carried within them.

They like to dance and party. We see that in District Thirteen in the books. I do think Lucy believed Snow while in the Capitol. She needed him, much like Peeta believed Katniss when in the Arena. Also explains why Coin was motivated to get rid of Snow. And why she wanted to make the Capitol Children go through the Hunger Games. Maybe she wanted Snow's granddaughter to go through what her mother went through. I can see Coin as being revengeful. Katniss embarrassed her by making her do the Mockingjay accord and say in front of everyone. Boggs knew enough not to trust her, even though he was one of the highest ranked officers. He warned Katniss - it explains so much!

Mermaid Scales and the Town of Sand, Light Novel (2-Part Standalone)

“Everyone has a place inside of them that others can’t see. A deep, dark, lonely place.” For 6th grader Tokiko, that void is symbolized by the ocean in the seaside village she and her dad have moved to after her mother left the family. But the beach is also a place of hope, as Tokiko remembers her visit there as a child when a merman saved her from drowning. This sets the stage for one of the loveliest coming-of-age stories I’ve ever read, a two-volume omnibus release which follows Tokiko as she adjusts to life in a new school with new friends and a “new” family (comprised of her father changing roles and beginning a different job, as well as her grandmother). The story plays out peacefully and beautifully with Tokiko navigating this unfamiliar life with courage. New friendships play a key role, including that with Yosuke, who delivers the quote on loneliness above and harbors his own pain. He’s a special character, but so is Tokiko, who possesses a kindness that affects those around her. She’s also developed with the sensitivity, naivete, and fantastical thinking of a girl her age. The simple style of the character designs is fitting and supports the manga’s nostalgic and fantastic feel. The writing is also masterful—there’s humor, tension, and innocence in every corner of the story—most appropriate for a tale of an optimistic adolescent dealing with such upheaval in her life. Originally released in Japan a decade ago, Mermaid Scales and the Town of Sand has been given new life with VIZ Media’s English-language release. What a gift that we’re able to read this tale which, like its heroine, is clever, beautiful, and encouraging. ~ @animepopheart

Unnamed Memory, Manga Vol. 2

Unnamed Memory has thus far followed the pattern of a “mystery of the week” series. Though perhaps unusual for a fantasy setting, it works well for this manga because the two leads carry what could be a mediocre procedural so well. Oscar and Tinasha are full of personality and demonstrate admirable character. They’re extremely likeable. But they’re even better together, with banter that shows the kind of chemistry you’d see in the best buddy detective series, particularly those with leads of opposite sexes, like in Castle or The X-Files. The two play off each other so well that they make the mystery more compelling than it should be, while also creating a desire within the readers to see the two romance each other. This isn’t to say that there isn’t a bigger plot involved. There is, and this volume gets us closer to the central story of the show. But at this point, we still don’t know exactly what the deal is with those attempting to hurt Oscar or what Tinasha’s past is all about. We don’t know if those stories will be compelling, either. For now, though, it doesn’t matter. I’m happy to just sit back and enjoying the Oscar and Tinasha show. ~ @animepopheart

A Condition Called Love, Manga Vol. 1

When I read titles like A Condition Called Love, more and more I realize that I absolutely loveeeeee shojo manga. In this new romance series, the sixteen-year-old heroine, Hotaru, has an ambivalent view of love and feels she probably will never have her own love story. When she witnesses an ugly breakup between a girl and the male lead, Hananoi, and sees him sitting alone in the snow, she shares her umbrella with him and some encouraging words. Much to her surprise, the next day he approaches her in class and asks if she will date him! This first volume completely swept me off my feet, and I could not stop reading once I started! Hotaru is a very compelling character and one I easily—and quickly—found myself cheering for. I found it refreshing to once again follow a heroine who really has no idea what she should do as a girlfriend—similar to Satomi in Ima Koi: Now I’m in Love—and thought it amazing how Hananoi encouraged her to just be herself. She doesn’t need to change who she is to be more “girlfriendy,” and he doesn’t expect her to change herself for him. And speaking of Hananoi, I am very intrigued by his character! I feel there is some very sad trauma he has experienced, making some of the things he says…alarming and concerning. I am definitely wanting to see this young man find healing and have already preordered the next two volumes in hopes of seeing that come to pass—as well as seeing this love story continue to unfold. ~ @lauraagrace

Chitose is in the Ramune Bottle, Light Novel Vol. 3

The first half of Chitose is in the Ramune Bottle, Vol. 3, took me two weeks to get through; the last half, two hours. This is fitting with the pattern in all three volumes of the series so far, each of which starts out nearly unreadable before finishing well. While I’ve given a variety of reasons for the poor starts, I’ve now concluded that generally it’s because each volume begins with the more superficial “fun” aspects of the story before digging into emotional material and “getting real,” with author Hiromu excelling in the latter while failing in the former. Take volume three, for instance. Asuka (who?—we’ll get to that momentarily) takes center stage here, as she must decide whether to challenge her father and pursue her dream of college in Tokyo after graduation or to continue to be the obedient daughter she always has been and stay in Fukui. The banter and characterization are terrible in the first half. It’s superficial, not particularly humorous, and just plain forgettable. The characters aren’t memorable either, with Chitose’s harem devolving into this blob of girls; on the surface, each has some characteristic telling them apart, but they really aren’t distinct enough to be anything more than “faceless popular girls.” Among the few characters that are distinctive are Chitose and Asuka, but she loses her distinction in this volume. The unique characteristics given her in her small appearances in volumes one and two disappear as she folds into this one “girl character” the author has created, having the same basic personality as all the rest once you peek beneath the surface. Thankfully, that “one” character is a compelling one, which helps make her physical and metaphorical journey in the second half of the volume interesting, even with (and somewhat because of) the author just throwing in stock event after stock event from romcoms past. Chitose is also easy to root for—the real Chitose, that is, who narrates most of the events, not the one the author explains him to be. Because this much is clear: Chitose is a good dude, but there’s no way he should have five beautiful girls fawning after him. I’d rather it be a harem that doesn’t make sense, like in almost every other harem series, then as a reader be told that yes, this harem does make sense because Chitose is actually Mr. Perfect, when he’s just written as a really nice guy and that’s all. There’s nothing in his characterization that would compel an entire student body to hate him and for all the beautiful girls to flock to him to be his “sidepieces.” But when I get lost in the novel and am able to forget that setup, I can just focus on the heart of the tale, which is heartwarming and romantic—so much so that I’m anticipating volume four. Boss Bride Days, Manga Vol. 1

Excuse me while I shout this, but… I HAVE FINALLY FOUND A YAKUZA ROMANCE MANGA I LOVE!!! I have tried at least three different yakuza romance titles, and I have dropped all of them either halfway through volume one or at the end of volume one. Why is this one different? Because our heroine, Sakura, is a shut-in otaku who would rather stay home and play the otome game, Yakuza Boys. Her life turns upside down though when, on the one day she decides to go to school, she ends up saving an old man who happens to be the boss of a yakuza gang! Touched by her courage to help him, he tells his three grandsons that whichever wins her heart will succeed him as leader of the gang. Now Sakura finds herself in her own real-life yakuza “otome game”! While I will be the first to admit that I’m not a fan of reverse harems, the otome game feel made this story amazing! A lot of the elements are over the top (such as three guys suddenly wanting her affections) and remind me of some otome manga titles I’ve read in the past, like Kenka Bancho Otome: Love’s Battle Royale, and these definitely aren’t lost on our main heroine, Sakura, either. Speaking of which, she is such a great heroine because while she knows she is “weak,” the inspiration and courage she takes from her favorite character in the game is deeply relatable. Fictional characters inspire me all the time, and I was glad to see a cool heroine live out brave decisions because of that inspiration. I definitely highly recommend Bride Boss Days if you love yakuza romances (or want to try one!), otome games, and a story that will make you laugh! ~ @lauraagrace

Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian, Light Novel Vol. 2

It’s not easy to write a great romcom light novel. As simple as they may sometimes seem, they’re more than just tropey moments thrown together, building up to a romantic climax. Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian, which hits the hallmarks of good romcom without actually being one, demonstrates as much. Volume two, which continues the story of Masachika supporting Russian transfer student Alya in her bid for the student council presidency, doesn’t earn its “big” moments, whether romantic (the scenes fall flat when Alya shows her affection physically in both this volume and the last) or dramatic (a speech that brought an entire audience to its feet is in reality rather short and mediocre). And the titular character herself isn’t developed enough to elicit the protective emotion we’re meant to feel as readers and which should match the protagonist’s. But not all is lost. There are facets to the story that are done well. Masachika, for instance, is more than a bland character; he occasionally demonstrates a self-malice that feels both out of place and genuine, making him sympathetic. In fact, he’s more compelling than any of the volume’s (many) girls, though a few of them are interesting, too—particularly Masachika’s kind, fujoshi sister and Alya’s similarly kind and older one. And the scenes of regular school and student council activities, where the stakes are no greater than one day in the life of a high schooler, are cute and fun. There’s enough good writing in these sorts of fundamental parts of the volume to make me hope that future releases will improve in the other aspects as well, creating a more cohesive story and one that I can recommend. But for now, Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian is much like its heroine: flawed, basic, and forgettable. ~ @animepopheart

this fandom is hell if you're jimin biased, I've been here for 6+ years and I consider leaving everyday because the treatment of him just keeps getting worse. I LOVE reading all the tweets saying "I love you jimin" "don't disrespect jimin" etc. just to go into these peoples' follow lists and see that I have half of them blocked for being jm antis. I saw a tweet with 7K likes saying "real taekookers don't hate jimin" and then looked at the creators follow list and they follow the biggest jimin antis on the fuckin site!!! the majority of this fandom is so performative when it comes to jm, its why group chats are constantly exposed for talking shit about him. I also LOVEEEEEE that tkkers will never actually be called out for this shit because every time it happens its "BTS is 7" and "all toxic shippers bad" because half the fandom are either tkkers themselves or too fuckin afraid to call their nasty asses out for the shit they say. OH and lets not forget the way the majority of this fandom has been gaslit into thinking that if you defend jimin, you're a solo stan. I actually hate so much of this fandom at this point because they have so beautifully crafted the perfect way to constantly shit on jm and never have to deal with consequences. Step 1: deny the hate, call people solos Step 2: oh no the hate is too visible to not address it without looking bad, make a quick ot7 I love all the members tweet, if anyone tries to say anything about not addressing jm specific hate, bring up how the other members get hate too :((((( Step 3: repeat in a couple days when tkkers pull the same shit again. tkkers and their narratives that have spread throughout the fandom so pervasively, have legitimately ruined the fandom for me and I honestly don't see it ever getting better considering no matter what they get, they hate on jm

This is painfully true. Especially that this fandom is performative when it comes to Jimin, especially Jimin.

Here, many or EVERYONE except jkkrs and PJMs finds it easier to say it's a simple ship war, damn shippers! and that's it. That's all they do or say. In this fandom, people get upset because a hashtag defending Jimin is trending but there is no problem when a hashtag is trending because a magazine cut the face of one of the members but one that is not Jimin because if it is Jimin many immediately say: But you can see part of his face! you complain about everything. And I say that because it has happened.

Another thing you said and they do it a lot is that every time we defend Jimin or say something in his defence many come out and say: all the members get hate because of the ships! like, yes but we are not talking about all the members this time, but Jimin.

If defending Jimin makes me a solo stan, I will be proud of it. If defending one member at a time makes me a solo stan, I will be proud of it.

Like you, I'm TIRED of this damn fandom downplaying the treatment Jimin receives.
