Congratulations
Summary: Reiji said something really messed up, pretty much ending what could have been with Josephine and Louis chews him out.
Warnings: ANGST, rejection, mentions of her cheating ex, fat shaming a bit, Reiji saying Josephine will never be enough, just Reiji being really shitty, Louis basically using psychological and emotional warfare on Reiji.
It had been months since Reiji and Josephine started talking. After that night they first had sex, the would bicker back and forth playfully. Whenever she said something punny or sarcastic, he would simply roll his eyes.
Today was like any day, really. But today, Josephine wanted to know what Reiji’s true intentions are. He must like her, right? Why else would he be catty with her and smile at her? Why else would he stare at her whenever she spoke? Why else would he always walk her to her classes with a hand on her lower back?
The witch has liked him for a while now. She could feel her heart skip a beat every time he made her lunch or would simply give her some water if he noticed she hasn’t drank anything that day. She cared for him deeply and she thought he thought the same. That is, that’s what she hoped for.
“You’re such a pain, you know.” Reiji cleaned the chemical equipment in his laboratory.
“Oh please, I know you would be bored without me. Who else would you banter with?~” She smiled at him but only got a scowl in return.
“I would much appreciate it if you were to leave me alone. It’s a wonder how I’ve been able to tolerate you this long.”
“Tolerate?.. Reiji-“ She laughed a little, starting to get nervous. “I know we banter a lot and have a little “back and forth” thing going on but… That was a little mean.” She admits.
“How dense are you? Have you seriously thought I enjoyed your company this entire time?” He laughed at her. Her eyes widening as he told her his cards.
“Yes… I-I thought you liked me.” Josephine wouldn’t dare cry in front of him. Inside she was breaking apart and he could read her like a book.
“Like you? How can anyone like you?” He scoffed like woman said the sky was pink. “You’re annoying, you barely have any manners, you think you are equal to me- which you never will.” He lists off, getting in her face as he lashes out at her.
“You could stand to loose some pounds, your laugh is obnoxious, you don’t understand social cues, what could I possibly like about you?! No wonder that low level scum tossed you.” And with the mention of her past, her hand struck his face.
“And here I thought you were something else. That there could have been something deeper with us. That I found-“ She scoffs. “Typical.” She slams his door, tears rushing down her face, trying to at least make it to her room only to feel a hand on her shoulder.
“Do you want to lay with me and talk about it?”
~~~
Two hooves knocked the door down from its hinges. “You have a lot of nerve speaking to her like that, pig.” The talking deer walked in.
“Get out. I don’t have time for your nonsense.” Reiji tried to wave off the familiar.
“Too fucking bad, shit-for-brains, ‘cuz you just lost the best woman that was in your life.”
“She’s not the best.”
“Well the best wasn’t your mama, that’s for damn sure.” The deer scoffed. “Josie loves you. She was just to nervous to say it. And you threw all her kindness and love away.”
“That’s not my problem.” The vampire crossed his arms, clearly angry at the notion of his mother.
“It should be. May I remind you she has stuck up for you in front of your brothers? Convinced Shu to actually go to classes and help make sure your brothers don’t fail to lighten your load?” The animal stomped his hoof to prove a point.
“How many times has she let you look at her spells so you can learn magic? Do you think she would let anyone touch her book?!” Reiji looks at him stunned but quickly rolled his eyes.
“I don’t want her. I don’t like her.” And then it clicked for the deer.
He’s scared to death. He scared that he has feelings. Reiji is scared that he loves Josephine. He hates that she has him wrapped around his finger.
“You know what, fine. You don’t like her.” Reiji looked at the deer confused, not understanding what Louis is playing at. “Throw her away be my guest but don’t forget “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”.”
“Louis, shut it. I’m tired of your games.” The vampire slammed his hand on the counter.
“Oh, this is not a game. It’s a statement. In fact, as Josie’s familiar, I can hear things that go on around her to make sure she’s not in danger.” Louis sits calmly. “Here is what is going to happen, or should I say, what is happening. Shu is being Josephine’s shoulder to cry on.”
Nothing but rage filled Reiji’s body. He knew from the start Shu wanted Josephine just to mess with Reiji but also to corrupt the sweet and naive witch. The idea of Josephine taking comfort in another man’s arms has his heart shattering and setting on fire at the mental image.
“Shu is going to comfort Josephine. He’s already being a really sweet guy, petting her hair, letting her listen to classical music with him.” The familiar paints the picture for him. “She feels safe with him. She likes that he is showing that he enjoys her company.” He digs the knife.
“He wouldn’t dare take what is mine.” He snarls, furious.
“You can’t lose what you never claimed, Reiji. You said it clear as day that you don’t like her. That you practically detest her. Don’t you dare think you have a shot at taking her back.” That’s right, take the bait.
“Are you trying to make me jealous and try to win her back?” The manipulation tactics ring a bell to him, considering he uses them.
“No actually, you don’t deserve her. You are not worthy of her. She is more woman than you could ever handle. Any maybe Shu can handle it. I’m pretty sure he’s doing a good job at comforting. Josie really seems to enjoy how he’s holding her.” Louis began to walk out of the doorway.
The gravity of the situation began to sit and stew inside of the Sakamaki. The imagine of Shu possibly making love to Josephine burned him in the worst way imaginable. Only he gets to hear how she cries when she pleasured. Only he gets to be the one to feed from her. He is the only one that needs her to feel alive. It only take him pushing her into the arms of the enemy to realize how badly he wants Josephine.
“What have I done?”
