Hello, simblrs! Allow me to introduce the DuRaul Mansion, Basic Edition. A luxurious, 3-bedroom mansion on one of the large plots at the outskirt of Studio Town, a favorite neighborhood for Simlywood stars and showbiz sims.
DOWNLOAD (SFS) the Basic Edition
The Basic Edition (174MB file size after compression) contains the architectural elements and furnitures but not the decorations and clutters (except a few Maxis ones). The house is pre-cleaned using Chris Hatch's lot cleaner. I also recommend using the CleanInstaller to install the lot package. Due to file size limit, the full version of this mansion cannot be directly uploaded to file storages. However, a list of included and recommended cc is here.
For my followers who would like to get the mansion as it is shown in the previous posts, I also offer a Deluxe Edition option (see below the house tour).
Paollo DuRaul, nonbinary singer/designer and the owner of the house, gave us a very warm welcome and a tour.
DuRaul: Hello! C'mon in!
DuRaul: This is the Disco Room, where we dance whenever we feel like it! As you can see, we looooove those pumpy fluffy lights and we put pictures of famous dancers on the wall, as inspirations!
DuRaul: This is the Trophy Room. This is my office but I rarely work here. But I guess I just need such a room to put all the stuff they gave me, like this 1994 music video award.
DuRaul: We looooove bright colors in our kitchen. So, we bought this stove from France and this brand used to make stoves for the kings and queens! At least that's what they told us!
DuRaul: I like high ceilings. Do you like high ceilings? I am tall. So I like having a lot of space over my head.
DuRaul: This is the living room. It is very cozy here and we'd like our guests to feel cozy and elegant here.
DuRaul: People no longer make such furnitures anymore! They are art pieces!
DuRaul: We like to have a view of nature as we eat. So this is the idea for our dining rooms!
DuRaul: Welcome to the holy temple of this house. I just loooooove to keep the stuff we bought from our past shopping trips and this room allows us to relive those experiences!
DuRaul: Hope you like the tour! Now if you would excuse me, I would like to chase some butterflies around the pool!
The layout for the mansion (note that the third floor, which contains two additional bedrooms, is furnished with minimal sutff in the Basic Edition to keep the file size manageable)
Now, for those brave hearts who are not afraid of handling huge house downloads, I offer the Deluxe Edition.
To get this edition, please follow these simple steps:
(1) Follow TheFourthRabbit here on Tumblr.
(2) Send me an ask message for the DuRaul Mansion and give me an email address to receive the file.
(3) I will send you the original version of this mansion (>300MB compressed file size, fully cluttered) through WeTransfer (a large file transfer service).
(4) Let me know if there is any issue when installing or playing this lot!
Enjoy a fruitful autumn and have fun!

Nicole Studio Part II
Download links below~
So, my friend Nicole said she wanted a film production studio but was too lazy to build. I volunteered to give it a try even though I had NO CLUE what a film production studio should look like. As someone who has a tendency to divert, I started a new hood named "Simlywood" with a 1930s touch (thanks to those RH skyscrapers from TS3 in the background, credit to @ousmeo).
The first building I built in the Simplywood was a star agency (or "management company") because Nicole said she wanted an agency for her talent-show sims. Hence there is a Part I (that I am still working on) on the left of the Part II building.
As someone who likes to cram stuff into one lot, I realized that my star agency building plan is getting too ambitious for a normal gaming PC. To be exact, I needed to move the offices planned for the agency building to somewhere else. That is when the Part II building plan took shape. Basically, I wanted to build a lot that combines the VFX studio (and all the accompanying stuff) with an office space (that you can use for a myriad of purposes in your sim story).
The building is quite detailed (even though cluttering is minimal) and is heavily reliant on the cc I downloaded over the years (thanks to all the amazing cc creators - sadly I am not able to give all of them credit here).
Here are some important ones that I recommend (and in the case of blue flashes, you can find the meshes below):
Veranka's Thorpe BuildSet (I used a few windows and doors)
lirunchik's The Motion Set (I used a few windows)
Buggybooz's A Feast of Frames (A few large paintings)
Veranka's The Director's Set (obviously)
I will add more based on feedback.
My confession: I never had the chance to visit a real VFX studio (though I would very much love to do so!). So my designs and decorations might seem weird or completely off in professional eyes. Feel free to correct me in these aspects hahaha!
Another issue that I was caught guilty of is that my office design seemed to be too "tidy" for people who works in the creative industries (thanks Nicole for pointing that out). In my defense, I was restraining from over-cluttering, and it is always up to the owner to add more characters to the office scenes.
Now I have said enough. This download is the testing version (I might share pictures of the version editted by Nicole in the future). In this lot (residential, 40x30), you get: a cafe, a company lobby with a conference room, a VFX studio (along with the tech staff room and a prep room), a helicopter pad, and lots of office spaces. Enjoy!

Just saw someone on Twitter complain about the lack of Japanese people in Oppenheimer, and what did you expect??? Did you want the final act to be the bomb dropping and see people burning alive???
The reason why we don't see a Japanese perspective is because one, including a Japanese perspective, just to see how bad the suffering was would be exploitation. Two, to see an accurate and sensitive take on how the japanese felt about Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan (as incredible as he is) isn't the right person to do this. And three, it's based on Oppenheimer's biography
Oppenheimer, the movie, literally shows you people (mostly the superiors, because by the middle/end of it you see Oppenheimer regretting his creation) doing something dubious and inhumane because they removed themselves away, both emotionally and physically, from the people they are hurting.
Nagasaki and Hiroshima only exist in those men's distant thoughts and imaginations. One guy literally asks to take a city off the bombing because that's where he had his honeymoon. It's disturbing and unsettling, as if those people were not real human beings. The lack of Japanese people drives the entire point home.
Also, Japanese cinema is right there. Barefoot Gen, Grave of the Fireflies, or Hiroshima (responsible for showing to many Americans the effects of the bombs for the first time) are just a few of the many, many decades of post-war Japanese movies we have
