I’m thinking of liverpepper… and it’s making me sad.

So here, have a AU brain dump over cloud and his Geostigma:

I know we’ve seen Mako drawn as tablets, but I kind of imagine Clouds Mako days as being either injections like steroids or him having to go to the hospital for specific mako treatment, like chemotherapy.

Cloud was off school a lot. As a result he had to work twice as hard as everyone else just to keep up and graduate. His friends always brought him his homework, but there were some teachers (you know the ones) who made him feel guilty about how often he got laid up.

Like it got bad enough that now Cloud kind of has a complex about it as an adult, and Leon has to keep reminding him that he’s not weak for letting his body heal.

We know (from sora) that Mako used to affect his memory, make him pretty much a zombie. But I imagine that it’s worse straight after treatment. Like he’ll be in bed for two or three days but then for the next week -maybe two if it’s bad- Cloud kind of used to walk around in a haze. Squall, Zack, Tifa and Aerith used to tag team on who would guide him from lesson to lesson.

Squall used to act as a bit of a body guard with Zack. If anyone dared gossip about Cloud or try to make his day more difficult while he was vulnerable, they’d end up having the terrible twosome descend on then. Turns out there a lot of ways you can threaten someone without getting caught.

Cloud didn’t stop taking Mako until age 18. And he absolutely has been hospitalised by it.

He’s had Mako poisoning twice, and each time people truly thought he would die.

He was part of a clinical trial for materia to begin with, and it meant he had to forgo Mako treatments for 4 months (to get it out of his system) before they could start him on Materia.

Those four months were probably the most fraught and painful of his life. He spent most of it asleep and in agony, while Squall refused to leave him ‘just incase’. The entire friend group rallied to try and make it easier.

The first month on Materia was also not fun. Lot of knew side effects while his body got used to it. Some got easier, some he still has. He doesn’t suffer from tinnitus or depth perception issues anymore, but he still has periodic bouts of insomnia. He also deals with almost chronic heart burn.

Materia doesn’t effect his memory like the Mako, but it doesn’t help either. The Mako did a serious number on his brain tissue, and while doctors are sure his brain will recover, it seems to be a long arduous process.

Sometimes Cloud requires a mobility aid. Sometimes a cane, sometimes crutches, sometimes -if it’s bad- he needs a wheelchair to get round a supermarket or mall. It depends on the day, the spoons and the sores.

The first thing Cloud demanded be done when they adopted Sora and Roxas, was that they get them checked for the Geostigma Gene. He knows they are not - biologically speaking -able to get it from him, but Leon agrees just to settle Clouds anxieties about it.

Nowerdays his Geostigma is the most manageable it’s ever been, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy.

Lockdown was scary In their house. It’s no exaggeration to say Squall whipped down every surface, sanitised every piece of food packaging, made sure anybody with even a sniffle quarantined as soon as it happened. And Cloud -for all his griping that it was fine appreciated it.

after lockdown rules started easing Sora and Roxas started feeling super anxious about going out incase the brought something back. Because it wasn’t a joke to them.

Cloud himself dealt with a sudden surge of powerful anxiety even going out the front door.

Squall got him one of those sunflower lanyards, that lets people know you are immunocompromised, and it helps a little, but they all felt different about going outside.

These are just a few thinly thoughts.

Soooo instead of sleeping I decided to finally start working on an Au to make alongside my main Kingdom Hearts story.

it’s partly based on an idea I had a while back that I’ve kinda been planning but never really got the chance to sit down and write anything about it.

it’s kinda inspired by Liverpepper’s Twins au though the blog seems inactive now (link to the blog if you’re interested in checking it out - https://liverpepper.tumblr.com )

So I decided to work on a family tree first but it’s still a work in progress.

btw I might make this au an ask blog alongside writing it, I just don’t know yet I just find ask blogs like that kinda cool don’t know why.

Leon: We’ve had a full house nearly all of December, and Ventus and Vanitas aren’t headed back to school just yet. Anyone would go crazy.

Been meaning to ask, for your Ventus and Vanitas art... how do you feel about people tagging it vanven? Can the art be seen as platonic or romantic, do you care? I know you personally see them as brothers, but I also know others see the whole literal-other-half thing and go the opposite direction with it.

Oh gosh, dude, I don’t care. And I don’t see them as brothers, actually, it’s a fine interpretation and I use it for some aus, but I don’t see it that way in canon at all. The only ones I see as actual family are Aqua-Terra-Ven (adopted by dadmaster eraqus, even tho that’s not “canon” either, it’s just my favourite hc) and Lauriam-Litzy(obviously! I think they’re the only canon siblings). Ven and Vani though, I don’t like it. It’s reductive to me (<— about to get really snotty about ven and vani don’t worry about it), I really REALLY like the whole literal actual “we are pieces of some kid who used to exist mashed together with pure light and pure darkness respectively and turned into entirely different people from both who we used to be and each other, and no matter how much we can try to put that broken plate back TOGETHER, it’s never ever going to fit into the person we used to be ever again because the pieces have been rearranged” thing. Like I’m obsessed with it. They’re two aspects of the same person flung in wildly different directions like a messed up science experiment. You made a whole boy out of one boy’s crippling depression. And then you let ANCIENT DARKNESS GOO GET IN IT and expected that to be okay— like what is WRONG with you— anyways I just think that applying a stock familial relationship like that to canon takes away a loooot of fun existential nuance you can get out of them with the two halves of a person thing. it can be fun, in that mushroom zombies post they’re intended to be brothers that died together, but I think applying it to everything is (GOING TO BE SNOTTY AGAIN IM SORRY) really boring. No offense to anyone who sees them as brothers in canon!

same reason I think aus like liverpepper are THE CUTEST, but I wouldnt apply “Sora and Roxas are brothers” to canon either. That’s a boy and a boy made out of his body. They’re all little fake guys, they can do whatever they want. Just don’t do familial-romantic at the same time, ya weirdo. You know?

i don’t think I’ve ever posted art of them with the intent for it to be romantic… I have never, I think, gone into a drawing with the intent to ship. but if I did, I would tag it. I try to tag any ships when I reblog them, but I have DEFINITELY missed some! Sorry!

A couple, though I wouldn't even call it fandom (fandom has only made me hate things). @fury-brand has unfortunately sold me on the viability of Aeris/Sephiroth, and I have a soft spot for Cloud/Leon just because of the liverpepper blog, because I am that goddamn starved for domestic found family bullshit and I will take what I can get.

It was the start of a long day of unusual traditions in their household. Little Sora and Roxas were the driving force for this; their third Christmas together as a family, and with the sudden influence of school and TV the two small twins were choc full of ideas on how to celebrate Christmas.

Starting with their version of traditional Christmas kisses …

Liverpepper-ish AU - Strifehart Winter Week 2017: Prompt; Midnight Kiss.

Who in the Strifehart family would be the grumpiest about a trip to urgent care?

HA! Squall no doubt. In every iteration from liverpepper to my own personal headcanon, I will die on the hill that is “squall is a grumpy fucker,”.

In my own headcanon story:

Out of the two men Squall is the grumpier of the two of them. He’s all about rules and order where as Cloud will keep to a loose routine but is willing to bend. In all fairness to Squall tough Sora has done some dumb shit in his time and they have been in urgent care for some truly stupid shit.

They’ve pretty much adopted the kid as theirs at this point as well as all the other wayward Sora looking children that seem to turn up in Radiant gardens. Mostly it’s just Sora and Occasionally Riku that they look after though.

One time, Sora decided to try and take your his wisdom tooth using the old string on the door knob technique because he refused to simply go to a dentist. This resulted in Squall having to rush him to urgent care at three o’clock in the morning because he’d seriously hurt himself. Squall had been so pissed about it, while Cloud was like “well, he won’t do it again, I guess,” which only enraged Squall further.

Another instance is the time Cloud fell off the cliff on the Great Maw and broke his ribs leg and collarbone. Squall had turned up in the lobby looking annoyed, worried and pissed off all at once only to find Cloud had been healed but is sore and Squall proceeds to brood grumpily by his hospital bed.

When anything goes wrong that requires a hospital visit for himself he bitches and moans until Cloud physically puts a hand over his mouth and tells him to shut the fuck up. The sentence “I love you, but if you complain one more time I will beat you to death with your belts” has been uttered many times while waiting for X-Rays.

HOWEVER!

Given what we discussed about Cloud the other day, when it comes to who is more grumpy to be admitted to hospital then it’s Cloud!

Mr “it barely hurts its fine” is likely to have a ruptured appendix and simply try to “walk it off”. Squall will at least admit that he’s hurt and needs to go. He’ll complain the entire time, but he’ll go. Cloud will fight tooth and nail and then throw the biggest hissy fit at being made to get checked out you’ve ever seen.

Cloud once got impaled by a steel pole and didn’t understand why everyone of the committee was making such a fuss. Squall got grumpy because Cloud was hurt and refused to go to a doctor, and Cloud was grumpy because he was being forced to go.

In the end they bitched at eachother until Cloud gave into the pain potions and Squall curled up around him, but it was done so decidedly Grumpily.

Just dorks being dads for Strifehartfathersday2k17 :) I sort of based them off the liverpepper family, it’s so cute :)

Cloud: Believe it or not, he’s a huge softy. Not to mention good with kids.
