Little details in episode 7

I FINALLY got to rewatch episode 7 so sharing a bunch of the tiny things that jumped out at me:

This angle!! The way his face is so scrunched!! He THAT desperately wants Sailom to understand what he is trying to tell him.

The way Sailom doesn’t look at him once while Kang is focused on him —

But then when the boys burst in he steals this glance

And Kang seems to sense it, but he’s too late and Sailom has already looked away again

This little pleased smile when Kang realizes he’ll have more chances with Sailom

Sailom pretending like he can just hide in his blanket cocoon and Kang won’t be able to find him

The way Sailom instantly knew when Kang gave up at the main door that he would come to the bathroom—

And Kang likewise knew he wasn’t asleep

The way after Kang asks this question—

He makes this adorable nervous face

How they are a package deal at KANG’S FAMILY EVENTS now

How Kang instantly puts a hand on Sailom’s shoulder and then they have an entire wordless conversation by making faces at each other. VISIBLE FROM MARS

I just love the idea that Kang and Pimfah immediately went back to close friends now that all the awkwardness is over

Sailom’s little hidden smile after Kang flirts with him on the bus

The fact that after Kang asks this question he LOOKS AT SAILOM FOR PERMISSION. Husband behavior!!

Sailom has a dedicated voice just for teasing Kang (see also their first tutor session and I know I’m missing at least one more)

And Kang has a dedicated voice just for protesting when his grandmother is teasing him about Sailom

the first time one of them has admitted it out loud to someone else!!

Another wrist drag!! I’m really into it, as is Sailom, I imagine despite all his protests

The song playing is Wind! I think it was @lamonnaie who talked about the idea that Perth & Chimon could exist in this world as real people. I keep laughing at the thought of Kang talking about how Perth is his favorite and Sailom teasing him because “that’s because he looks like you!” But now I’m also charmed at the idea of the reverse — that Kang has a thing for Chimon because he looks like Sailom

I LOVE this stumble fall because of COURSE it would lead to an (almost) kiss!! They’ve been flirting nonstop. They are touching in multiple places!! It is the only natural conclusion and I admire the writers for showing that progression. (We were ROBBED)

This is astonishingly brave of Sailom. This man clearly terrified him and could fire him in an instant and he still sticks up for Kang

This is after Guy rejects him. Kang gets this cocky “challenge accepted” smile and you know? This feels like really important growth for him. Also it’s a good look for him. Both seem like important observations

Kang scores a goal! He’s GENUINELY good. (I see you, Kang’s Dad, you DICK)

After Kang misses, Sailom makes sure to smile so that if Kang looks up to see him he won’t see him looking disapproving or sad. MY HEART

Sailom is RUTHLESS with his tests (affectionate). He lets Kang get through an entire pretty self-deprecating speech while sounding on the verge of tears without comforting him and waits for the most important line, which is this — that Kang is motivated on his own to get back up and keep trying. Only then does Sailom tell him he’s already got the friend’s approval. But Sailom needed to see that Kang was willing to keep trying first before he personally was willing to go all in. I love him.

And ending on this look. Sailom’s Look Of Love got a lot of attention, rightfully, but this is a pretty amazing one too.

There’s just something about this poster and the detail that Ongsa is as close to Sun as she possibly can be WITHOUT touching her.

She admires Sun from afar, but she can’t help the need to be close to her. However, she’s afraid to touch Sun because of the damage that would cause. The Earth orbits the Sun, always keeping its distance. If they were to collide it would be catastrophic not just for each other but for everyone else around them too. Yet, Ongsa is holding onto the edge of the desk, because despite her fears she wants so desperately to be close to Sun and maybe just maybe that’s stronger than her fear of the consequences…

And also Ongsa keeping her eyes on Sun the whole time to clock her reaction. If she were to open her eyes, then the veil would be lifted and Sun would know not only about her feelings but also that she’s Earth.

My happy place today is how radiantly happy Sailom was at several points in the last episode (leaving aside his heartbreak at the end because he is hopefully going to get thoroughly kissed next ep):

His big, soft bed!!

A fancy meal just for him!! And we know fish is his favorite from Saifah, right? So it seems like Grandma Ging asked him what he would most want!!

His nicely repaired bag with its cute dog!!

Learning Kang specifically asked for him to come back!!

THIS IS LIKE A DREAM 🥺🥺🥺

Leaving aside the cute sing-along, how many times in his life do we think he’s gotten to ride in a car? How fancy must that feel, having a nice air conditioned ride to school like he’s seen so many of his peers do over the years?

Getting doted on by a motherly figure!!

Feeling safe!!

Feeling cute in this nice shirt (shhh I know what happens next)

Getting a free shirt!

I could have watched three hours of this. Petition to have none of the future plot stuff happen and Grandma Ging just adopt Sailom as her other grandson and take care of him for the rest of his life. Kanghan can stay, I GUESS, if he gets his shit together (SMDH)

No but real talk here- one of my favourite little details that were included in the HBO adaptation of TLOU that I noticed is that you can literally see Joel's hair growth from ep 1 to ep 9...

What are life series things that happened in the series but you never/hardly see them used in fan content, and wish they were?

I’ll go first with the two that come to my mind immediately, both having Martyn for some reason:

- 3rd Life, Scott’s final death, when Martyn and Ren were chasing him, but Martyn wasn’t red so he couldn’t hurt Scott and instead tried to slow him down so Ren could catch him. One of Martyn’s attempts to get Scott to stop running (and the last one before Ren killed Scott I think!) was yelling stuff along the lines of “come here and give me a hug! I wanna cuddle before you die!” And I’ve never been the same since but nobody has done anything with it. Mean gills fans, I’m begging you. I don’t even care WHAT you do with this. Just anything.

- Double Life, we all know the boat boys died to that portal trap. People do plenty of fan content surrounding that. But what I DON’T see a lot of is the fact that Martyn went through the same portal trap, accidentally stumbling across the mine craft equivalent of their corpses. Pretty sure he got in the same spot Joel died. So Martyn’s “allies” (exes) had to pull him out of a crime scene. I’m like. Silently losing my mind about it and I don’t see any fan content with it. Martyn being stuck with Joel’s burning body in the portal trap that smelted Etho.

EDIT: SO I DOUBLE CHECKED AND I MISREMEMBERED. THEIR STUFF WAS NOT STILL THERE, IDK WHY I THOUGHT IT WAS. Making up memories fr 😭 but it’s still the same portal so yeah 😁

Please add anything that you personally think about a lot, any minor details that you think are neat or major things that happened that you’re honestly quite offended nobody’s done anything with. Anything you can think of.

On todays edition of fun Silver facts that are a little obscure, did you know in three most recent games in the Olympic games series, the cyan lines on Silver's gloves and cuffs pulsate softly?

Its a lot less noticable in 2020 vs 2014/16 but still there nonetheless, easier to notice if you look at the bottom of the circle.
