Do You Remember?

Do you remember when it started, and we played among us every day? Do you remember when one of us got Dangamronpa 2, and we all got on discord to voice the lines? Do you remember when one of us managed to set up a minecraft server, and we all played on it for months? Do you remember when one of us left for a week, and we all let her because we trusted she knew what was better for her? Do you remember when we didn't? Do you remember when we were playing gartic phone, and I laughed so hard I broke my chair? (I misspelled it garlic the first time I wrote it, isn't that funny?) I still have the scar from that. it's my favorite scar, and I hope it never fades.

Do you remember when one of you bought me Phasmophobia, and I could barely play? It's a fun game, once you figure out that you're not actually in danger. Do you remember why we all hate the word 'milk'? I think you do, it would be pretty hard to forget. Do you remember when we played EVE Online for about a month? Do you remember when you pressured me into playing Genshin, and we had a group of four we would always fight bosses and clear domains with? Do you remember when one of us left, and we all went batshit trying to get her to come back? Because I do. I'm gonna be honest, we fucked up with that. we fucked up really badly. Do you remember when you bought me Deep Rock Galactic, and we played together for about a month? How we agreed to level my engineer and your scout the same? Do you remember when you bought me Astroneer, and we played together for a couple hours, then all got caught up in our own worlds? I still haven't completed that game.

Do you remember inviting me to your birthday party, and I got you the flavor of Monster you asked for, but changed the box it was in so it looked like the standard? Do you remember spilling it on the carpet? Do you remember making a cheesecake, but all of us were either wearing a blindfold, listening to music so loud we couldn't hear, or weren't allowed to speak? Do you remember when we did the same at my birthday party? How I was wearing a blindfold both times? I still have a picture of the cake we made that day. The frosting is bubbly, and too liquid. Did somebody microwave the butter? the same thing happened in my FACS class in eighth grade, and when I told my mom about it she told me that happens when you microwave instead of letting it soften at room temperature.

Do you remember when Tower of Fantasy came out, and we all played for a week or so? Do you remember Christmas last year, when you somehow managed to rope me into being part of a pjsk voiceover server? That was fun. I tried to find some of the videos that were posted, but it looks like they got deleted. At least, the ones I was in. I can understand that. I did leave kind of abruptly.

I remember all of that, and I miss it.

I miss the two picnics we had. I miss the singular trip to the mall we took. I got a necklace that day, a resin, kite-shaped necklace that I wore every day for a year, do you remember that? the resin's faded into yellow now, and the string got all dusty. I think I'll try to wear it again. I still have a weekly reminder set, from back when we did voiceovers for games. I miss that, too. I miss when we would talk to each other. I miss when we would play games with each other. I miss when it was a single group of twelve or so, and not dozens of pairs. I wonder if you do, too. I hope you see this at some point, whether someone sends it to you, or one of you comes across it yourself, because I think I still want to be friends. I hope you see this.

I have the controversial opinion that maybe, just maybe we stop wanting to go after people with pitchforks for getting characters wrong and not reading the comics inviting them to easy and accessible ways of and making our own content with comic accurate representation

people might feel less anxious about starting comics and misinformation won't spread as easily

Hmmmm???? At first, this made me think this would only fit Ascended Astarion, but then I realized that such a desire resides in Astarion regardless of route. The world has harmed him so much, that before the choice is made, he thinks, what if the world bent to my will? What if I- and then, what if we used these parasites, used their powers, took over the cult, took over the brain…what if?

The thing with this song is it's also…tender?

And if I may just take your breath away, I don't mind if there's not much to say, sometimes the silence guides our minds, so move to a place so far away

Oh, this line could be taken many ways for him...

In a lot of the encounters in which you seduce him/are seduced by him, the narrator notes that "there's a look about him that reveals he's a million realms away"

Aka, dissociating. Understandable, given what he has gone through, and as someone who has gone through something of the same vein, I relate. I digress.

It also speaks to the understanding Astarion and develop. How if him feeding on you becomes a nightly, consensual occurrence, then you don't have to say much of anything about it, just let him know he can. How you can direct his movements in combat. Also, he just generally takes your breath away.

And of course,

Cold in temperature, or cold in circumstance? Being an undead, the natural assumption for Astarion's body temperature is, well, cold, but I'm more focused in non-temperature cold.

How if you say you want to end things with Astarion, his first response is "oh shit, did I do something wrong?" instead of "why?". How he views himself as lower, especially viewing his past self as lower if ascended. How he has to be cold to survive.

But either route, he still...makes connection. He still is surrounded by people to have and to hold in the spawn route, and is deeply, tightly holding onto Tav in the ascended route.

Crazy thing being, depending on how you play Tav, or Durge, or hell, another Origin character if you prefer, this could easily be them singing back to him.

My Tav (who is named after me lol) in particular I've made very…morally gray. They don't exactly feel the need to take over the world, as they generally approve of the freedom of the people, but who's to say they don't also want the world in their hands?

At one point, Astarion can say to the player character, "I'm not easily impressed by people, but you're stronger than I gave you credit for." The narrator implies it's empty flattery, but over time, "and if I may just take your breath away" applies to them as well.

ANIMATION RAMBLINGS

I am so hyped for animation right now. Please let me share with you my excitement (as well as some links)!

FIRST: Super happy for the writer's guild on their win this month. I'm always happy to see the entertainment peeps standing up for themselves. This is a huge deal. There's been some talk of anime production workers possibly taking action as well, but there hasn't been any concrete news on that.

SECOND: What's come recently? Well, Fiona and Cake was great! I very nearly cried at several points lol, it was a very satisfying ending. And Worthikids (click to see their Youtube!) recently finished off their second season of Bigtop Burger: A funny little series of short videos about clowns making burgers in a food truck. It's wonderful and there's been a fair bit of lore that's been revealed from this season. Can't wait for what's to come in season 3 (which has pretty much been confirmed at this point)!

THIRD: What's to come? The new Scott Pilgrim anime series is coming soon! Just a little over a month until it premiers!! The little bit of teasers we've gotten so far make it look promising, and considering a lot of OGs from previous Scott Pilgrim media came back to work on it, I think it's safe to assume we'll enjoy what we see (despite Netflix being Netflix). There's also the Among Us series in development with the creator of Infinity Train Owen Dennis! It will probably be another year or so before we get more information on that, but it's a fun thing to look forward to.

What I'm really looking forward to are several independent projects coming up. More people are realizing that they can still tell the stories they want without corporate overlords breathing over their necks 24/7. Of course, this doesn't come without its hardships. Their main sources of income are coming mostly from crowdfunding and selling merch, and production may be slower (honestly for the best, stop the crunch culture). But to many of them, it's worth doing.

First off, Lackadaisy- What's that, you ask? It's about mobster cats in the Prohobition Era. It's got both whimsy and grit, both light humor and darker, more somber themes. And the art is so fun! It started off as a comic- check out their site! They released an animated pilot earlier this year! And just recently they got their project completely crowdfunded- several times more than what they were aiming for! The whole first season is funded and they're getting to work on production!

Then there's this fun guide series by one of my favorite stop motion animators Cranbersher! His work is amazing, he's done plenty of stuff for Youtubers including Markiplier and Jacksepticeye, and he even got to animate in Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio!!! He's been working on his series "Cranbersher's Guide to Stop Motion" for many years now, and he has been working diligently on the finale. Seriously, I recommend giving Cranbersher's Guide a watch. And do NOT skip any episodes! I promise you it's worth it, you'll learn a lot about animation. :)

Third, Jellybox Studio!! A new independent studio formed by Gene Goldstein, the mind behind Planet Panic and frontman for punk-rock band Qbomb! His animation is amazing, and with a whole team behind him, they're planning a 40-episode miniseries called NOXP! Gene has already released a few episodes on their socials.

And last, at least for now, there's Monkey Wrench by Zeurel! Essentially it's about two space bounty hunters trying to start fresh and not to get killed. It's definitely more on the mature side but the first episode is a pretty fun adventure on its own! (Its been a while since I've seen it, oof) The second episode came out several months ago and the series is also still in development, I'm excited to see what's in store!

Honestly there's a lot going on with animation lately. Times are changing, and I kind of hope we see more animators and crews turn to other options to bring their stories to people. Get excited!

Bonus: There have been a dozen reanimation projects over the last few years. They really popped off after the Game Grumps, Kirby, and Dover Boys projects got more attention. One of them, Gravity Falls Reanimated (which seeks to reanimate the first episode of Gravity Falls with contributions from dozens of different animators) is nearly complete after several years! The final product will be released under Alchemy Paint Studios. It's been a long time coming, but it's almost here!

once again thinking about limes very quick descent into madness surrounding the time when he realizes he might like mochi after the first night he spends cuddling with her. always love the slow start of "Okay she's kinda cute I guess. She has cute tendencies sometimes. There, you happy? I admitted it. Now leave me alone." which in the span of about 3 days RAPIDLY spills into being unable to think about anything else to the point he can barely hold a conversation with anyone because his mind keeps daydreaming back to holding her in his arms. All day feeling like "I can still feel her warmth on me..." and has to keep being snapped back to reality by everyone around him

he can barely even talk to mochi because he keeps thinking about it. has no idea what to say to her the next day. is very quiet. and mochi thinks hes mad/uncomfortable with her now, since hes always so standoffish to girls at school she thinks she might be in that category now. so the next night while lime is about to go to bed, STILL THINKING ABOUT IT, and he gets a text from her that reads something like: [Hey lime!! about last night- sorry i fell asleep on you!! i know your not super comfortable with that stuff!! it wont happen again!! 🙇‍♀️ see you tomorrow!] and he feels his heart drop to his fucking stomach. lays there reading it back over and over with his thoughts a mix of "Yeah I guess that makes sense, it happened by accident. It was never gonna be a repetitive thing." vs "Won't happen again...? Like....ever? Are you fucking kidding me? I never get that ever again?"

eventually after an hour of tossing and turning, thinks up some bullshit excuse to sneak over to her house and climb up over her little bedroom balcony, knocks on her window and says something like "Hey uhhh you forgot one of your socks over at my place so I brought it back." or something that is absolutely stupid and could've definitely waited for the next day. manages to weasel his way into crawling into her bed with her because every bone in his body is telling him to.

Okay! So this is Chan Kiimili' a Geoffroy’s Spider Monkey-based 'celestial' monkey.

I use the term 'celestial' very loosely because, while they are not a regular monkey demon, they are based on ancient Mayan culture. As a result, I wouldn't really say that they are a lmk oc, but since I ended up tying their storyline with Bo Fu's they kinda got roped into the mess.

Powers: They have illusion and light magic where they can summon small rays of light that appear as the person's worst fears. They initially used this power to create an almost barrier around their area, but in more modern times, they use it to help people get over their pasts.

Origins: Their abnormal nature comes from them being originally a warrior spirit who was chosen by Ah Puch, the Mayan god of death and beginnings, to kill a chosen priest of Quetzalcoatl to ensure that their tribe would be safe. A rough sketch of Ah Puch has been drawn out and placed under where it's a bloated owl-like figure with a human skull as an almost maskish face.

However, the tribe didn't take to Chan very well. Imagine you are just trying to survive the night and this ghost-like figure with the stench of death walks to your family. (I have the comic linked here!) This led to Chan 'dehumanizing' themselves and only seeing themselves as an object to protect the tribe.

Then they met the priestess. The only other demon that ever treated Chan like another person, because she knew what it was like to be an object of fate. They end up playing games where they try and 'kill' each other, but the other person always seems to find a way to escape.

However, when the gods choose something, you have to obey.
