Hi, I am Japanese and I was in 8th grade during the late 90’s (yes clown on me for being old) WHILST living in Japan and I just want to kindly say that Lily’s view of Japan is complete bullshit.
I won’t deny my country has a problem with its view of underage girls. However Lily’s view of what goes on there is warped. Where I am from, maid cafes are usually for young (even sometimes teenage, depending on age) girls to make money. A girls (not woman’s) in Japan best trait is her cuteness and while it might not be good, that’s just how some of us make/made money.
It has absolutely nothing to do with content like rapeplay the game. Most of Japan’s popular content is nostalgic, it certainly isn’t things like that.
Also, how is sunny is a weeb? He’s literally Japanese..what an idiot she is.
Lily's whole thing is projection. Every accusation is a confession.
Love to see others calling her tf out for this.

indeed. that queerphobia was the whole reason i unsuscribed from her. queer is an important word for me and i'll not take kindly to someone trying to tell me i don't have a right to it.
one time she even shared a post from an account called "sapphic conservative" just because it shared her views about queer. not even after that did LO ever came to term with the fact that queerphobia is often used by bigots (including terfs) in order to divide the community.
she has never changed this stance of her as far i know and yes, that includes both telling black people what they can or can't reclaim (tone policing from a white person basically) and telling other sapphic women that they can't reclaim words like dyke because... she doesn't like it.

Let's give a shout-out to Content Creators better than Lily Orchard!
What's pointing out a problem without giving any solutions?
Though in all seriousness, I think we should all come together and, while not stop shitting on Lily persay, shine a light on other creators of all stripes who deserve the attention more.
So let's not feed into following Lily through what I can only assume is the cost sunk fallacy, and start building some people up!
Who gets to be on this chain? Any content creator that is not a bigoted, pedophilic, bizarrely transphobic, culture appropriating, abusive, abuse denying, hate-filled, racist, rapist! With the bar thoroughly buried underground, I do genuinely want to hear about all sorts of critics, writers, and artists who could use a shout-out. And on the flip side, dragging out some of the snakes and rats that aren't mentioned often enough if people want to be cheeky about my exact wording.
The only barrier to entry to this compilation I want to make is that by a little or a lot, let's talk about Content Creators that are better than Lily Orchard.

In Lily's newest video she accidentally makes a kinda racist joke about a white woman having a whip and her black girlfriend thinking it's hot.
After went up some people went to Lily and pointed out how the joke could be racist. Lily quickly apologized and went to remove the joke from the video. Problem solved.
Then someone goes to Mikaila and basically says that they thought the joke was racist and didn't like the kink aspect of the joke. Mikaila makes a good response, apologizing and promising it won't happen again.
Then Lily barges in and says that the person was slandering them. Even though the person clearly meant well in the message. Lily also chastises Mikaila for apologizing to this person. Because apperently it's bad to respond politely to a fan.

Then you couldn't you have used literally any other kind of weapon for the joke???

Its like. Hunters crush on willow is adorable and i like the parallels they have with lumity as well as hunters parallels with caleb wittebane. And willow has absolutely no reason to return hunters crush rn but she obviously cares about him as a friend. And if they bond more in season 3 i can see her deciding hes cute in a skrunkly kind of way.
And yeah if they want these two to be in an actual healthy relationship in the show they have to address hunters unhealthy attachment to authority figures since he obviously sees willow as one. (The "captain" thing is not cute i will fight ppl on this) they should also address willows inferiority complex and impostor syndrome since landing a boyfriend absolutely will not fix this.
Or they can have them get together in the show before they address this and we get to see their relationship devolve into madness because hunter will be all "omg captain youre so cool ❤❤❤❤❤ ill do anything you want bc my entire self worth depends on the approval of someone ive decided is fundamentally better than me ❤❤❤❤❤ im gonna enable all your attempts to suppress your own emotions to help your friends bc thats how i think ppl who arent mentally ill act ❤❤❤❤❤" and willow will be all "wow hunter youre so supportive 😍😍😍😍😍 and you keep being my yes man and saying i can literally do no wrong 😍😍😍😍😍 so im gonna be your makeshift therapist and never talk about my feelings ever bc i dont want you to think less of me 😍😍😍😍😍" and we can either see them dramatically break up or address this and become closer as friends and love interests and either way itll be glorious

My guess is that-like most misinformed idiots-her only exposure to anime was through “research”; and by “research”, I mean she just looked at a bunch of cherry-picked, out-of-context online screenshots/video clips of fanservicey moments in random anime (including acclaimed classics like Cowboy Bebop, Full Metal Alchemist and others) and decided not only did they represent their entire respective series, but that those same fanservicy moments represented an ENTIRE MEDIUM!
And of course, the only so-called “anime fans” Lily ever met were 4Chan Neo-Nazis-the ones who defaced her cartoon avatar-and since Lily adores the “Hitler Ate Sugar” fallacy, she has convinced herself that 4Chan Neo-Nazis represent the quality of ALL anime.
Once again, Gromit, speak my feelings:
It’s hilarious how Western media is filled to the brim with raunchy sexual content (see Belgian, French and Italian comics, "Metal Hurlant" etc.), yet holier-than-thou Helen Lovejoys like Lily barely bat an eye at them. But whenever characters like Feye Valentine, Winry Rockbell and Olivia Mira show the tiniest bit of skin or sexual liberation, they cry “Weeaboo spankbait! Women and Girls are in danger!! Won’t somebody think of the children!!!”

Today, an associate of mine from the Prairielands Freedom Fund informed me that a defendant they've been working with was, yesterday, unjustly sentenced to 5 years in prison. He should have received a deferred judgement. Brandon Jones is a black man and he has 3 children.
I don't normally make posts like this, but I want to share this here in the hopes that it will have further reach. Brandon Jones is a member of my community and he does not deserve to be ripped away from his family like this.
Here is a statement from my friends at Prairielands Freedom Fund:

On March 25, 2024, "District Court judge sentenced PFF participant Brandon Jones, a Black father, to a five-year prison sentence. We posted bond for Brandon in January after he had pleaded guilty but couldn’t pay his bond. He spent two months in Johnson County Jail, a particularly cruel separation where he was apart from his newborn baby over the holidays.
Brandon’s case is emblematic of the cruel, racist punishments inflicted upon Black folks in our carceral system. Separating Brandon from his family inflicts a layer of violence upon their lives — and it does not do anything for public safety.
We’re committed to rallying behind Jones’ family and his partner Lily, and the best way we can support them right now is with financial support. Lily is now a sole provider — it’s crucial that she gets the economic support she needs.
In September 2023, Brandon’s 8-year old son was suspended and told to walk home, alone and in the cold, from an Iowa City School District elementary school. Brandon went to the school to speak with the principal about the situation. Accidentally bringing his legal firearm with him into the school, Brandon was arrested, charged, and held on a $30,000 cash-only bond.
School staff claim they were threatened by Brandon’s presence in the school, and prosecutors jumped at the chance to make an example out of Brandon. Prosecutors claim this case is about public safety — and yet, their target is a Black father who showed up to his son’s school to advocate for his family. This situation starts and ends with racism. We know our district suspends and expels Black children at higher rates. And the reaction from school staff cannot be extricated from Brandon’s existence as a Black man, advocating for his son, a Black student who was suspended.
Brandon took full accountability for his mistake, as evidenced by his guilty plea. His legal team asked the judge to simply give him probation, allowing him to continue caring for his young family. But today, Brandon was sentenced to five years behind bars.
Brandon’s situation so perfectly epitomizes why abolition matters. Abolitionist principles urge us to think expansively about what safety means. By separating Brandon from his family, they are all less safe — especially when considering economic and emotional safety.
[This] outcome was not what we wanted, but we remain committed to supporting this family, and creating a better system than the one they were victimized by today."
