updated my island flag! this was way harder than it looks. i did upload that first photograph onto acpatterns but it defintely needed tweaking and i also had already planned to edit out those even blurrier flowers in the background, so i ended up editing a lot and changing the color palette a little bit too. i used the other photograph as a reference as well. believe it or not the stem was the hardest part, because there wasnt a lot of room to add a stem that looked appealing by the way it was shaped and then there wasnt a lot of room to shade the stem cuz its thin obviously and working with pixels on acnh can be a little limiting in that you have to use certain shades and certain patterns in order to create smooth shading that doesnt look pixilated. i’m proud of myself for my first real try at custom designing. (i wont count the designs i made as a child or the simple quick stuff ive thrown together as an adult, although any practice is better than none when it comes to custom designs on animal crossing)
also, as ive spoken about several times on this blog, ive recently started allowing myself to draw again after i stopped drawing for like ten years (other than a couple other attempts) and it’s such a relief to be able to get into a flow with drawing for the first time since i was a teenager. i enjoyed the process, and i also am happy with the outcome so that’s a nice bonus.
oh also apparently to save a QR code from acpatterns you dont get to name it? or at least i cant find a way to other than to submit my design or whatever so thats why the image says by unknown from unknown lol

I’m very happy that i’ve maintained my 5 star rating for this long! I honestly thought that first Lily of the Valley was a fluke or something…
Tumblr media
Also— for those 2 whole comments mentioning the rainbow bangs, this is the creator code for them! They made a bunch of cool bang designs, including the ones i’m wearing in the first pic!
✨✨those 2023 vibes are decent so far ✨✨

i'm finally back to building in ts2! have my latest lot showcase: a house i've redecorated for a growing family, the owners being the town tailor and gardener 😊
idk if anyone really remembers, but on my old blog i think i talked a little about the town this family lives in? it's called redbud bay, and it was my first custom town for ts2. i kinda based it off of a series by pleasantsims, i think... back then when i was first playing i got lazy and just used plasticbox's lots mixed in with a few from 3t2 sunset valley. now i've gotten better at building and decided to go back and redo the whole town in a cohesive style.
so welcome to 4 helix road, the home of jaclyn phelps, aaron phelps, their 3 kids, jaclyn's apprentice lily, and 2 cats! more info on the design choices, family stuff, etc. can be found on my reddit post.

yeah, it's just the backyard lol the actual lot is based on one by plasticbox, so i can't take credit for building the basement or general layout of the house, just the decorations.
hoping that i'll actually have the energy to stick with this town for more than 2 weeks at a time this play session 😍

The royal wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton ♡
The wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton took place on Friday, 29 April 2011 at Westminster Abbey in London, England. One million people lined the route between Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace and the ceremony was viewed live by 162 million people worldwide, with a total of 36.7 million watchers in the United Kingdom alone.
The bride wore a dress designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen. The gown was made of ivory satin and featured an overlaid long-sleeved V-neck lace bodice and appliquéd full skirt with box pleats, as well as a nine-foot train. The motifs in the lace included roses, thistles, daffodils and shamrocks to represent England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Catherine wore the Cartier Halo Tiara, lent to her by the Queen, as well as custom-made diamond earrings given to her by her parents (the piece features oak leaves similar to the scrolls of the Cartier Halo Tiara and an acorn, in reference to the Middleton's coat of arms). The bride's bouquet contained myrtle, lily of the valley, ivy, hyacinth and sweet William.
The groom wore an Irish Guards mounted officer's uniform in Guard of Honour Order with a forage cap, as well as the star of the Order of the Garter, his RAF wings and Golden Jubilee Medal.
On the morning of the wedding, it was announced that William was to be created Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn, and Baron Carrickfergus, with Catherine becoming Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge after the wedding.

max made me a custom tattoo item combining 3 tattoos (eldritch claw, lifewell, and ghost step) so mik only needs one attunement slot for the lot of them. i've decided he's got the combo tattoos on one arm, to balance out the lightning scars he's got up his other arm.
the descriptions of the designs of the three tattoos are as follows:
clawlike forms and other jagged shapes
symbols of life and rebirth
shifts and wavers on the skin, parts of it appearing blurred
so! keeping that in mind, here's a very rough design for mik
Tumblr media
thorns for the jagged part and adding to the flower imagery. i think i'd want more thorns/vines in the actual design to balance out the flowers some.
green roses for life, rebirth, new beginnings
goldenrod for rebirth, support and positivity in grief and loss
orange marigolds for the connection between the living and dead, grief, remembrance, a celebration of life's cyclical nature
blue chrysanthemums for death in some cultures, life and rebirth in others, longevity and joy in others, blue specifically for a connection to the divine
lily of the valley for the dual opposing meanings of joy and happiness vs sadness and death
and then the tattoo. y'know. shifts and wavers, appears blurred in places. as per the ghost step tattoo description.

The 1950s - part 1
The key silhouette of the 1950s was the “hour glass”
After the simple fashions of the war, women were ready and excited to embrace the new world of fashion.
The images below show the feminine look which controlled the 1950s, dresses were fitted at the waist and once again required a curvaceous figure.
Tumblr media
Christian Dior
Dior was founded in 1946 so by the 1950s it was taking centre stage as a fashion house, it captured the very essence of 1950s glamour. His "New Look" collection was the catalyst to this new era of fashion and his pleated skirts and gathered tops of his ‘Lily of the Valley’ collection were an instant success.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In 1951 for Princess Margaret's 21st birthday party she commissioned Dior to design her ball gown shown bellow. This was unfamiliar from the British Royal family as Dior is not a British brand and she was questioned for not promoting British fashion, however by bringing European fashion brands to England she became a huge fashion inspiration to the public.
Tumblr media
Haute Couture houses began to coordinate outfits from head to toe in perfect accordance to the customer's order. This marvellous ensemble below establishes the elegance of the 1950s showing how the dress, sandals and bag are all made from the same fabric.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The silhouette of 1955 is narrow at the shoulders and flares slightly all the way down. This silhouette was called the tulip shape, it featured narrow slender skirts with generous tops or dresses with a wide v-necked collars.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The era saw the introduction to cocktail dresses. They were a must have item for any women of 1950s society.
This cocktail dress is made of slipper satin printed in burns colours featuring a full flared skirt (1956).
Tumblr media
The Peter Russell suit of 1954, the year in which his house closed. The suit shows the influence of the air hostess image. The envelope bag matching the line of the skirt was also very popular.
The small image below shows how mass production were able to copy a 1955 Givenchy dress making it available to more people for the ready to wear trade which is now considered the norm today.
Tumblr media
This beautiful evening gown was designed by Yves Saint Laurent in 1958.
At age 21 Yves Saint Laurent had taken over the design house of Dior when Christian Dior unexpectedly died at the age of 52.
Laurent brought a youthful feel to Dior and the gown showcased below is timeless.
Tumblr media
In 1954 Jacques Faith created this stunning evening dress exploring a ground sweeping skirt with deep inverted pleats. In addition to this an oversized two tone sash added that sense of drama.
During this time fashion became more advertised therefor photoshoots were put in place to showcase the garmets. Limousines were often used as backdrops in fashion photographs to emphasize the exclusive nature of Haute Couture.
Tumblr media
Pierre Balmain
Balmain was the designer of this masterpiece below was known for his exquisite construction. His gowns were often exstreamly tight, firmly boned and featured strapless bodices this permitted the maximum exposure of expensive jewellery. In 1955 this delicate fan helped to create the romantic mood for which Balmain was famous for.
Tumblr media
“More Taste than Money”
Even inexpensive dresses were given major attention to detail. Hat, gloves, handbag and jewellery were paired to create extravagant outfits creating a very polished stylised look.
Tumblr media
Fur was still a very popular aspect of fashion in the 1950s and most Haute Couture designers used it in their collection.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This image below defines the sheer elegance of the 1950s shape showing a waist nipper combining corset and bra petticoat in which is all made from the new man-made fibre, Nylon.

Best Places To Get A Tattoo In Melbourne
Whether you’re in Melbourne or anywhere else in the world, when it comes to choosing a tattoo artist or studio to bring your perfect tattoo design to life, there are a few things to consider. For instance if you’re after a large-scale design with gradient shading, you’re probably not going to book into a studio that specialises in fine line stick and poke tattoos.
Reputation also matters, it’s important to do your research on artists and studios before making a booking to make sure they are going to be the right fit for your vision.
Each tattoo design will have its own needs and will require a specialised artist to deliver the design to a high standard. Fortunately for our Victorian friends, Melbourne is home to some of the best and highly acclaimed tattoo artists in the world. But with a tattoo studio on almost every corner of Melbourne’s buzzing streets, it can be extremely difficult to find your perfect match.
Tumblr media
To help narrow your search, here’s a list of our suggestions for the best tattoo studios in Melbourne.
1. ADDIKTED TO INK – COBURG, COLLINGWOOD & FRANKSTON Addikted to Ink is one of Melbourne’s leading tattoo parlours, having opened 3 separate studios across the city in their first decade servicing the industry. The tattoo franchise boasts high-end tattooing services in almost all styles; from black and grey and colour realism, to traditional styles, neo-traditional, stipple/dot-work, script, chicano and more. Their work has been recognised with several awards over the years, setting an industry standard for all other studios. You can find them in their OG stomping ground studio in Coburg, their private studio in Collingwood, and their fresh new store front in Frankston.
2. LA BELLE TATTOO STUDIO – CRANBOURNE With over 15 years of experience in the industry, the girls behind La Belle Tattoo Studio bring the best of traditional, blackwork and realism to the Melbourne scene. Their studio is decked out from floor to ceiling with an array of vibrant designs that encapsulate their professionalism. Pick a design from their bank, or talk through a custom piece and watch your vision come to life. Oh, and while you’re there, make sure you say a friendly hello to Kaya and Erin for us!
3. GOLDEN GOOSE TATTOO – HEALESVILLE Golden Goose is a boutique tattoo studio servicing the Yarra Valley region with clean, detailed work that leaves a lasting impression. The artist’s hold themselves to a perfectionist standard, crafting meticulous designs with impeccable results. Not only this, but Golden Goose was the first ever studio in Australia to offer a 100% carbon neutral and vegan service in the craft of tattooing. Lily is the woman behind this gorgeous studio and we’re BIG fans of her work, so make sure you drop by and check out some of her designs.
4. BLUE LADY TATTOO – MELBOURNE CBD In the middle of Melbourne’s CBD you’ll find Blue Lady Tattoo somewhat hidden away in a converted loft-warehouse space, a far cry from your average dark and dingy, off-the-street tattoo parlour. With the walls and cabinetry adorned head to toe with flash tattoo designs, Blue Lady Tattoo offers high-quality, diverse designs, meticulously created to suit your vision. From neo-Japanese styles to traditional blackwork designs and custom pieces, the team at Blue Lady Tattoo are dedicated to bringing satisfaction to your next ink piece.
5. ZIMNI INK – MELBOURNE Zimni Ink is a small studio in the hub of Melbourne’s inner suburbs. A quick stroll from the Queen Victoria Markets and you’ll find a small team of talented artists with years of experience up their sleeve. Their style is distinct, but not restrictive, specialising in watercolour designs, fine line, geometric, illustrative, and black and grey.
6. FULL MOON TATTOO STUDIO – PRAHRAN Nestled behind the hustle and bustle of Melbourne’s famed hospitality strip, Chapel Street, rests one of the most authentic tattoo studios in the city – Full Moon Tattoo. This veteran studio has been serving clients in the area for the past decade with an array of styles and custom pieces, all uniquely designed to cater to the client. The artists at Full Moon have a deeply-rooted passion and respect for their craft, taking time and care with every design, leaving no detail spared.
7. ROCK N’ INK – GLEN WAVERLEY Set in a 50s inspired studio in the heart of Glen Waverley's buzzing social scene, Rock N’ Ink offers the perfect blend of modern, cutting edge designs with the traditional. With a bank of talented and experienced artists in residence, the team at Rock N’ Ink make it their mission to not just meet your tattoo expectations, but exceed them at every possibility.
8. THIRD EYE – FITZROY NORTH Known to most avid tattoo seekers in Melbourne, Third Eye is one of Australia’s leading tattoo studios, home to some of the most respected artists in the industry. With a vast offering of styles and appointment types, there’s nothing the team at Third Eye can’t deliver on. _
🇬🇧 We finished this week with the latest shoes that I had the chance to customize with wildflowers : daisy, poppy or lily of the valley. For those who asked the question : no, a band on the shoe doesn’t interfere but it depends of the design / pattern you want.
