i know everybody makes fun of Thalia and Jason for being underpowered compared to the rest of the Big 3 kids, I have done so on multiple occasions myself, BUT. Okay.

I do think the Grace siblings aren't so much underscaled to the others, but instead their powers just aren't nearly as precise. Like, Nico and Hazel can control literally any stone/earthenware/metal material and summon reinforcements and a whole bunch of other little things, Percy can control all water just in general, etc etc. Jason and Thalia? Jason can control all air, which is OP as fuck when you think about it. He flies through controlling the air to lift him. Which means he can lift/carry/etc anything by just controlling air the right way. Like, people talk about Percy being OP as fuck with the water thing but Jason's on pretty equal ground with "can control all air/wind."

And then the lightning/thunder. I know everybody likes to go "oh well what if they could control nerves and electrical impulses!" you are thinking too specific/minute. We don't need to go that far. The Grace siblings can cast a concentrated fucking explosion whenever they want and it will not harm them at all AND it has area of effect damage and potential residual effects. Armor does not do shit against a literal three MILLION volts. And lightning is BIG. Like okay yeah sure not great for small combat or close-range with allies but put either of them against an army? Bye bye. Does not stand a CHANCE. And we've already established in The Lost Hero that if you put Jason in a room full of conductive metal and his allies are not at risk? You are a GONER. Zero questions! You can fight skeletons and rocks and maybe water. You cannot fight three million volts straight to the face. The Grace siblings do not need bells and whistles they have Cast Beam Attack and there is nothing you can do about it. And this does not even touch upon how fucking loud thunder is.

thinking about volt being resurrected and losing her powers in the process... what kind of grief does that look like? does she eventually demand that loki fix it since he's the one who brought her back? does she seek out magic on her own? does she make a deal with something to get them back?

introducing Tailthund, the Kitsune! its element is Volt and it lives either in flat open fields or high up in rocky mountains, so it can bask in thunderstorms. some speculate that it hopes to get naturally struck by lightning as that may be what helps it achieve its true form. either way, when it does, its too-big-for-its-small-body tail will split into five!

Tailthund are naturally somewhat mischievous Kreebees and will often disobey commands, especially from a tamer it deems inexperienced or unworthy. it'll instead do as it pleases, lazing about or darting off to hunt. when it's tuckered out, it curls up its massive tail and sleeps on top of it like a dog bed. it likes being pet, but beware the sharp static its fur generates! in battle it can put this to practical use, generating a lot of electricity, and it can also bark as loud as a clap of thunder!

🌟- Is this oc good at expressing themself through words or do they have to use other means?

Sometimes she is, sometimes she’s not. Sometimes it’s too much, and sometimes she holds back from saying anything at all.

But, when it comes to words vs other means, bad or not, the words do more. She’s more afraid to self express physically than vocally.

      Finding a quiet moment, Sonic took the opportunity to hand Volt a wrapped box, mirroring the hybrid's actions from a few months ago by pressing a soft kiss to his cheek and then backing up. "Happy birthday, Volt~" 

      Upon opening the gift Volt would find what at first appeared to be an empty snow globe with a very elaborate and beautiful base that was hand carved from wood, stained, and painted with gold accents. The carvings were intricate in design, weaving lines and shapes, trees, mountains, and stars- the center of the ‘front’ of the base featuring an arrangement of three larger stars, each with a small heart shape carved above them, and the star in the middle bigger than the others.

      Sonic’s tail wagged behind him, excited, but also nervous for some reason, as he lifted a hand to point at the biggest star. “Press that in.” It acted as a button, and if activated, the globe would flicker to life to display a hologram projection of Sonic and Tails’ home. Including the lab and immediate surroundings. Instead of ‘snow’ there were particle affects that resembled leaves. “I wanted you to know... my home is always open to you too.”

“And these-” Sonic held out a tiny box, opening it to reveal two even tinier- microscopic even- gold ring shaped microchips. “-are keys to it. Tails would just need t’ install them into you and Harmony’s communicators, if ya don’t mind that, heh. He’s almost done with gettin’ the force field and cloaking device set up for our property. These will allow you to walk right past it and warp in with no problem. They’ll open all the doors for you too.” Was he talking too much in this moment? Hopefully not, because he couldn’t stop just yet. Looking back at the snow globe he continued.

“Tails did all the technical parts for that,” he admitted, before the smile on his face grew a little as just a hint of pink came to his cheeks, “And I did the wood carvin’, and paintin’ and all that.”

Lightning surge test and lightning surge protection device

Once again rambling about Jay and his awesome power. One thing I've noticed about him, especially with his power, is that it seems to tax him a lot more than the others' does. Probably because of the power and intensity of lightning. I've seen so many posts about how Jay uses a very small voltage when he fights because he doesn't want to hurt people, but what seems to be supported by the canon is that it also hurts him. Every time he deals with pure lightning bolts (rather than just shocks), he seems to hurt himself in the process. This is proven in season 14 when he is literally sparking after recharging the ship.

And judging by his expressions, it's affecting him. It hurts and exhausts him.

And in season 6 and season 8 we see how dealing with direct bolts of lightning affects him. In season 6, he screams when it hits him.

And in season 8, he gets physically exhausted for a moment after redirecting.

At least from what I have seen, this is very different from the other ninja, who seem to be able to control their elements-for the most part-at different intensities without it affecting them. (Aside from Lloyd.)

Which just brings me to the point that I personally believe that Jay's power is the most powerful of the creation elements. He doesn't use it to its full potential (and KO enemies, like he could) because, while he can handle like 900 million volts (in season 6 he's struck by like 3 direct bolts of lightning, and survives), that doesn't mean he will be combat ready after that.

This might also be why Wu brought him into the team early (with Cole). He probably needed a lot more training on pain tolerance, keeping the mind and body calm, and probably lots of other endurance training. (Which is indirectly canon with how well he was able to handle Nadakhan's mental and physical torture vs the other ninja.) His power is so unpredictable, and so his training must have been very rough when he first got his powers, which is once again supported by the canon as both Nya and Lloyd talk about how he destroyed the South(?) Wing of the Monastery with an electrical fire while practicing his powers. Wu probably had to focus on his control a lot more than with the other ninja (probably like how he had to with Nya, if you think about it. Lightning and Water are both hard to control, so concentration would be key to learn for both of them, which is ironic with Jay's fanon ADHD).

Point is, Jay is super cool and so underrated sometimes. I really think it'd be cool if the show went more into how their powers affected them! Though speculation is also fun.

Anyways. Jay with the lightning chicken because they would be (are) besties.
