I want to do this before I forget!
2023 was a big year of wins for me, and of course, my Jack Harlow family was beside me through every single aspect of it. Thank you to the ones who continually support me with every reblog, like, and comment and never switched up on me. I am grateful for every single one of you, and I do not take it lightly. I started writing more consistently and posting on here for an outlet to deal with my mother passing, but I never thought I would gain lifelong friends in the process.
Yall cheered me on when I graduated in May
Listened to my vacation stories when I went on my cruise, North Carolina, for a wedding, and of course, the most recent one being Louisville when I met our beloved Urby baby!
And listened to my crazy nurse stories lol
@a-moment-captured Melissa, my bestie, my MiMi 🥹

The June 24, 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court held that the Constitution of the United States does not confer the right to abortion. This decision returned to individual states the power to regulate any aspect of abortion not protected by federal law. Since this ruling, multiple states have limited or completely banned abortion care for people who are pregnant. In at least nine states, abortion is blocked with no exceptions for rape or incest.
Multiple states have banned abortion after 18, 15, or even 6 weeks gestation. These time restrictions make it impossible for patients to use medical information from ultrasounds and/or genetic testing, available later in pregnancy, to determine if a fetus has an anomaly and/or a life-threatening or lethal condition.
These abortion restrictions and laws permitting any citizen to sue anyone “aiding or abetting” an illegal abortion for up to $10,000 has created uncertainty and fear among health care providers trying to provide medical care to pregnant patients experiencing miscarriage, tubal or ectopic pregnancy (when the embryo implants in the fallopian tube, where it cannot become a full term pregnancy; can be lethal to the mother if not treated promptly and correctly), or those who need prenatal genetic counseling. Clinicians are unclear where the lines stand between providing care and committing a felony that could equal jail time, and this means that pregnant people aren’t getting the appropriate and timely care they need, even outside of a healthy, viable pregnancy.
But did you know that the Dobbs decision has also prevented non-pregnant women from receiving the medications they need to treat lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and other conditions treated with medications like methotrexate?
Chris Stallman, MLS, MS, is a certified genetic counselor, an expert in medication impact during pregnancy, and a Clinical Instructor of Pharmacy Practice-Science at the University of Arizona R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy. “Methotrexate is a medication used to treat many conditions, including lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and other autoimmune diseases. If a person who is pregnant uses methotrexate, it could increase the chance of miscarriage, birth defects, and other issues in pregnancy or after birth.”
For this reason, girls and women of child-bearing age who are taking methotrexate as treatment for their autoimmune or other diseases are not able to take methotrexate – even if they are not pregnant.
This critical problem is not hypothetical – treatment with methotrexate has already been withheld from female, non-pregnant patients with serious medical conditions in multiple states.
A 48-year-old woman in Tellico Plains, TN received an automated call from her CVS Pharmacy in July 2022 indicating that her prescription for methotrexate wouldn’t be refilled. This patient, who has inflammatory arthritis and a neuromuscular disease called myasthenia gravis, stated that methotrexate allowed her to resume simple, yet previously painful tasks like putting on her pants and rolling over in bed.
In June 2022, not 24-hours after the Dobbs ruling, a patient in Maryland who has Crohn’s disease received a call from her insurance company indicating that methotrexate, used to treat the chronic inflammation and pain associated with this condition, would no longer be available to her.
Within a week of the Dobbs ruling, a woman in Virginia who has Lupus received a letter from her doctor’s office indicating that it was pausing all prescriptions and refills of methotrexate because of the Supreme Court decision on abortion. Before taking methotrexate she experienced flares of Lupus so severe that she had trouble walking and needed to use a shower chair to wash.
Another woman from Missouri had been taking methotrexate to treat rheumatoid arthritis. When she went to the pharmacy to pick up her refill she learned from the pharmacist that they needed a specific direction from her doctor that the medication would not be used for an abortion. The pharmacy, Walgreens, confirmed with this customer that they do not require the same procedure from their male clients.
A 14-year old girl in Arizona was denied a refill of methotrexate to treat her debilitating rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis. Her angry physician tweeted that her patient was denied this critical medication because she was female. The withholding of life-saving or -altering medications from the women who need them has forced some of them to consider surgical sterilization.
Could denying women of childbearing age (who may or may not be sexually active, fertile, heterosexual, or pregnant) methotrexate be just the beginning of problems for women who need prescription or over-the-counter medications? Stallman says, “This certainly could lead to more medication denials – and not just for people who can get pregnant. If my husband or children need medication that could increase risks to a pregnancy, would they be denied the medication simply because they live with a person who could get pregnant? Will health care providers have to stop handling or dispensing such medications if they or their partner could get pregnant? And before saying ‘that will never happen’, remember that is what people said about the overturning of Dobbs. We don’t know how far this will go.”
Let’s take this thought experiment a step further. Is it possible that young girls will have to present a letter from their pediatricians indicating whether they’ve started having periods before they can receive the medications they need? Will adult women have to present written proof of tubal ligation, menopause, or infertility from their physicians before filling their life-saving medications? Will other medications that can affect the health of a fetus, even the highly regulated acne medication Accutane, require such additional proof? Could pharmacies use the data they have on prior purchases, like tampons and lubricant, to determine if a woman may be of child-bearing age and/or is sexually active?
The Dobbs decision is just the beginning of our government interfering with womens’ bodies, their personal choices, and their medical care. This decision is already impacting health care outside of pregnancy and could force women and their family members to disclose personal information about their fertility, sexuality, sexual and medical history with pharmacists, medical systems, the government, and the databases that all of them use. Our federal government must act swiftly to ensure that this decision doesn’t lead to further government overreach, discrimination, interference in proper medical care, and tragedy.

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
December 8, 2023
HEATHER COX RICHARDSON
DEC 9, 2023
You all are in trouble, because I am home tonight from ten weeks on the road and am taking the night for myself, writing about one of the Very Cool Things I learned in my travels. I expect there will be more stories along these lines in the next several weeks.
Ninety years ago today, on Friday, December 8, 1933, in the first year of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s administration, the Advisory Committee to the Treasury on Fine Arts met for four hours in Washington, D.C., with museum directors from all over the country and leaders from the art world. For the past nine months, the administration had been building a “New Deal” for the American people, using the government to help ordinary Americans in the midst of the Great Depression.
Together with the Democrats in Congress, the administration had launched the Civilian Conservation Corps that put young men to work planting trees, fighting fires, and maintaining wilderness trails. The Federal Emergency Relief Administration provided work and cash relief for unemployed workers; the Agricultural Adjustment Administration boosted farm prices by reducing agricultural surpluses, while the Farm Credit Act made it easier for farmers to borrow. The Civil Works Administration put more than 4 million unemployed Americans to work building 44,000 miles of new roads, 1,000 miles of new water mains, and building or improving 4,000 schools.
Now it was time to help artists. Inspired by the 1920s public art movement in Mexico in which young artists were paid to decorate public buildings, FDR’s former classmate George Biddle suggested to the president that artists could be hired to “paint murals depicting the social ideals of the new administration and contemporary life on the walls of public buildings.”
This idea dovetailed with the goal of the administration to tap into the skills of ordinary Americans in rebuilding the country by making sure people had work. After all, FERA administrator Harry L. Hopkins said, artists needed “to eat just like other people.” He promised $1,039,000 to be disbursed by the Treasury “for the purpose of alleviating the distress of the American artists” while decorating public property with world-class art.
At the Washington, D.C., meeting, the attendees discussed how to “carry…forward the world of encouraging the fine arts as a function of the Federal Government.” Their first speaker was First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, who “expressed her sympathy with the idea of the Government’s employing artists,” and all the other speakers followed suit. The following Monday, the Public Works of Art Project (PWAP) opened its doors, and artists lined up outside government offices to apply. By Saturday, December 16, artists were receiving checks. When the project ended four months later, 3,749 artists had been on the payroll, producing more than 15,000 paintings, sculptures, and public murals.
The pilot project for the PWAP was Coit Tower in San Francisco’s Telegraph Hill neighborhood, located in the city’s Pioneer Park. The 210-foot Art Deco tower of unpainted concrete had been completed and dedicated in honor of volunteer firefighters on October 8, 1933 (perhaps not coincidentally, the date of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871). When the building was finished, it had 3,691 square feet of blank concrete wall space.
By January 1934, thanks to the PWAP, twenty-six San Francisco artists and nineteen of their assistants were transforming that blank space into frescoes and murals depicting California life. Several of the artists had worked in Mexico with muralist Diego Rivera as part of the socially conscious mural movement of 1920s Mexico and adopted his techniques, creating frescoes in which the colors became part of the wall as they dried. To keep the colors at Coit Tower uniform, one artist-assistant ground the color pigments for all the different frescoes.
But while they admired Rivera’s art, the New Deal artists, for the most part, focused not on revolution, as he did, but on the possibilities of the country’s new approach to government. Roosevelt was backing artists, and they backed him, painting not about revolution but about restoring healthy social and economic conditions in the United States.
By the time the PWAP got under way, the exciting artistic experiments of the early twentieth century that had brought Picasso’s cubism, for example, had begun to seem foreign and alienating, and artists had begun to turn toward representational art in a national style. The government’s requirement that the public art be about the “American scene” in American style for American people built on that shift. Artists in the PWAP painted either as “Regionalists,” who painted rural America, or “Social Realists,” who painted the cities. The Regionalists tended to celebrate the nation, while Social Realists—most of whom came from New York City—tended to critique it, but both groups found intelligence, power, and beauty in the ordinary people and the ordinary scenes they painted.
Coit Tower showed San Francisco’s people: striking workers, farmers, cowboys, travelers reading newspapers, news stenographers, chauffeurs, a rich man being held up at gunpoint, car accidents. People of color and women were underrepresented but not entirely ignored in this celebration of the possibilities of American life under the administration's new policies (one mural had an oil can in a corner to illustrate the government oiling the machinery of the economy for the mechanics in the next panel).
The murals in Coit Tower, and the PWAP that supported them, were such a roaring success that the federal government would shortly launch four more projects to fund artists (including writers), most famously under the Works Progress Administration that operated from 1935 to 1942. Although to a modern eye, many of the fine artists’ depictions of Indigenous Americans and racial and gender minorities are eye-poppingly racist, these colorful presentations of the lives and histories of ordinary Americans that decorated libraries, schools, courthouses, bathhouses, and post offices, honoring community and hard work—and, in the edgier paintings, jabbing at stockbrokers, bankers, and industrialists—celebrated a hopeful, new, progressive America.
For many Americans, who had never had access to fine art and were astonished to see fine art in local buildings, the medium was its own message: they realized their neighbors had talent they had never imagined.
President Joe Biden has deliberately echoed FDR’s policies of the New Deal in his economic program, promising to build the economy from the middle out and the bottom up, even as Republicans have insisted the only way to build the economy is to concentrate wealth on the “supply side” by cutting taxes. Today, there was more evidence that Biden’s policies are paying off for ordinary Americans. The November jobs report showed the economy added almost 200,000 more jobs in November, making the total since Biden took office more than 14 million, while the unemployment rate has stayed below 4% for 22 months in a row and wage growth is strong.
As Harvard professor Jason Furman notes, the U.S. is now 2 million jobs and 2 million employed above the pre-pandemic projections of the Congressional Budget Office. Dan Shafer of The Recombobulation Area observed, “If these numbers were happening during a Republican presidency, the usual business community folks would be celebrating in the streets. But when there’s a D next to the president’s name, it’s tumbleweeds.” Today, on the Fox News Channel, personality Maria Bartiromo noted that “the economy is a lot stronger than anyone understands.”
The president also echoed the New Deal’s promotion of internal improvements today when he announced an investment of $8.2 billion in new funding for ten major passenger rail projects across the country to deliver the nation’s first high-speed rail projects. High-speed rail between California and Nevada, serving more than 11 million people annually; Los Angeles and San Francisco; and the Eastern Corridor, will create tens of thousands of union jobs, build communities, and promote climate-friendly transportation options.
In a speech in Las Vegas, Nevada, announcing the rail plan, Biden called out his predecessor, who “always talked about infrastructure week. Four years of infrastructure week, but it failed. He failed,” Biden said. “On my watch, instead of having infrastructure week, America is having infrastructure decade.”
“Trump just talks the talk. We walk the walk,” he said. “Look. He likes to say America is a failing nation. Frankly, he doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about. I see shovels in the ground, cranes in the sky, people hard at work rebuilding America together.”

"HIGH PURPOSE OF LOYALISTS IS RECOGNIZED," Kingston Whig-Standard. May 9, 1933. Page 5. ---- Contribution to Canadian Nationhood Seen as Secure ---- SAINT JOHN, N. B. - When Saint John in particular, and New Brunswick generally, pay tribute to the United Empire Loyalists on May 18 next, the Sequicentennial aniversary of their landing here, the occasion will recall a people whose decencants excercised a powerful influence on the political, material, and intellectual development of Canada.
The Loyalists, whose continued allegiance to the Crown made life unbearable for them in the new United States, comprised a great many of the cultured and wealthy men and women in the old colonies. When the revolution broke out they represented at least a third of the population. Their honesty of purpose, and integrity, now acknowledged by historians, were among qualities resulting in firm foundations during Canada's early growth.
Loyality Steadfast College graduates and former high officials were included in the migration to British territory. In New England, the Episcopal clergy were steadfast in their loyalty to the King. There was also a large loyal element in the humbler walks of life. It was found in the farmers of New England, the Quakers of Pennsylvania and the negroes of South Carolina and Georgia.
Those occupying official positions at the beginning of war naturally took the side of authority. Their indignation increased as they found their places filled by men of inferior social position and less wealth, education. and culture. Despite their ideas of prerogative however, the old Loyalists in general are conceded to have been men of upright character, staunchly adhearing to their principles and willing to make great sacrifices for the preservation of a united British Empire.
Impress Is Deep "On the Canadian body politic the impress of the Loyalist migration is so deep that it would be difficult to overestimate it," wrote W. Stewart Wallace, historian. "It is no exaggeration to say that the United Empire Loyalists changed the course of the current Canadian history. Before 1783 the clearest observers saw no future before Canada, but that of a French colony under the British crown. Barring a catastrophe shocking to think of wrote Sir Guy Carleton in 1767, 'this country must, to the end of time, be peopled by the Canadian race, who have already taken such firm root and got to so great a height that any new stock transplanted will be totally hid, except in the towns of Quebec and Montreal.' Just how discerning this prophecy was may be judged from the fact that even today it holds true with regard to the districts that were settled at the time it was written. What rendered it void was the unexpected influx of the refugees of the revolution....Before 1783 the continuance of Canada in the British Empire was by no means assured; after 1783 the imperial tie was well-knit.
Even in the adjoining republic, history has begun to do the Loyalists justice. Their merits and self-sacrifice are acknowledged.
The late Professor Coit Tyler, University of Cornell, said his opinion was "That the side of the Loyalists, as they called themselves, of the Tories as they were scornfully nicknamed by their opponents was even in argument not a weak one, and in devotion and self-sacrifice not an unheroic one."

thank you @sanhaoche for the tag! i love to share my many thoughts on things.
Rules: tag 9 ppl you want to know better
Last song: mikrokosmos by BTS. my “BTS favourites” playlist is literally over 7 hours long because they haven’t made a bad song in their lives, but if i had to pick my ultimate favourite it would be mikrokosmos. shine dream smile x
Last show: i think the last tv show i actually finished was i told sunset about you which i watched because the director of this film festival (who i’m obsessed with) was constantly posting about it on instagram and i was like okay king you’ve got me intrigued. i thought it was so beautifully filmed and the yearning was exquisite. all of those longing gazes! when they’re in the hammock and oh-aew says, “i think you know,” i was shaking crying throwing up. i will say that it gets a bit melodramatic and overwrought midway through episode 4—i was watching it with sarah in the room and after 20 minutes she was like they really haven’t stopped crying this entire time, which, like, yeah. however EYE also started crying when teh and hoon have that conversation in the final episode…. what can i say, i love gays and their siblings. anyway it really does capture that first-love-obsession so well, both in its crazy intensity and also in how you catalogue every single small touch and look and moment. plus i got to read this fic after which was so GOOD.
also if this question was meant to be about concerts my last show was ATEEZ which changed my life, restructured my DNA and had me immediately searching for VIP tickets for the berlin and amsterdam shows. seonghwa being visibly affected by my sign and touching his heart???? yunho saying “i love you” directly to sarah???? no we won. there is truly nothing like seeing a band live at the very height of your obsession with them
Currently watching: god so many things.
the bear! very tonally chaotic but enjoyable.
the sopranos, which abeera has been telling me about for ages and we finally watched the first episode on friday and i fear i’m going to be obsessed. seeing tony squirming in the therapist’s chair not wanting to speak about his family…..relate!
kinnporsche because i simply had to know what was driving everyone so crazy. also hayley sent me a unionisation fic and so really watching kp is just background research i have to do so i can read it. anyway i’m 3 episodes in and if anything happens to porsche i will kill everyone in this room and then myself etc etc
Currently reading: i’m going to cheat because the book i’m reading right now isn’t worth talking about but i recently read I HOTEL BY KAREN TEI YAMASHITA which was perfect. i was telling abeera about it yesterday and started stumbling over my words because i was so excited to talk about it. it’s a book of 10 interconnected novellas about the asian american/yellow power movement in the late 60s/70s, based on archival research into the many activist & community groups that were organising in san francisco at the time. it covers SO much ground: from the 68 student strike to the alcatraz occupation to the black panthers to lenin reading groups to the communist art in the coit tower to filipino fruit pickers. i’ve never read a fiction book that understands both marxist theory and praxis so deeply and so well. it’s about community, solidarity, putting your body on the line; poetry and love and art and food; and ultimately it’s about revolutionary struggle and how to dream it and do it. i cried! twice!
Current obsession: do i even need to say ATEEZ? stream guerrilla. the “kpop punk” playlist i have been meticulously curating, which is a list of kpop songs paired with thematically/lyrically similar pop punk songs. the cucumber plants on my balcony. this new LUCY song, which makes me feel like i am a character in a TV show during a montage where i Get My Life Together. a recipe for chicken adobo which is one of the most delicious things i’ve cooked recently. dalton day’s poetry. the moment of the day when It’s Time To BeReal. going bouldering! i just got new climbing shoes which is helping me move up a grade and it’s so satisfying to get stronger! the podcast episode i’m planning with @sanhaoche on mdzs, in which i will inevitably talk about jiang cheng for at least 20 minutes without stopping to breathe. my friends, obviously and always.
tagging @jiminsproof @sportsbrataemin @evakant @perilously @daltoneering @phneltwrites @anakinkendrick @hstylesbians to do this if you would like to!!!!

Goldilocks
I had a new dream; it was better
On account of the broken flag you liked none of them you said they were tacky, with carriages and smoke, a dog barked, too loud And the sun, that low winter, was menacing I agreed and held my tongue at the retention pond where a couple of bikes leaned too hard on the curb Playing cards clicked in the spokes turning wheels no one looked at
My aunt would've liked this one What do you mean she's still alive I know, but look at this valley Someone made it Greening out from hills, not mountains finally She didn't like to jog but one could walk here with neighbors The chain link fence was an eyesore though and the words hurt, nauseating
I tried again, look it's like we met in another life but it's still this one, we belong here, somewhere The red dream continued a phone rang, a police siren The called-for storm raged all around us, everywhere except for here, under the small umbrella that grew from your back It was a fruit stand in ojai near the coast, the shoe rack at bloomingdale's Brown hills in new mexico, that mausoleum under coit tower no one saw grown through the ninth circle straight through the whole planet And a red, sorta plum to orange sky where an ungainly swan gestated, big and white, finally agreeable
It was time for that speech

Bruce Lee: A Straight Blast From the Past that Packs a Punch
Tumblr media
Bruce Lee posing with San Francisco’s Coit Tower in the background, circa 1959.
I recently visited the “We Are Bruce Lee: Under the Sky, One Family” exhibit at the museum and shadowed a high school tour. After being closed since the beginning of San Francisco’s COVID-19 shutdown, the museum reopened this spring with this new show. The exhibit is extraordinary! I was absolutely blown away - even for a high schooler like myself, who has never even seen a Bruce Lee movie. The exhibit is rich culturally and visually, and told an inspirational story of Bruce Lee as a martial arts maestro, an international pop culture superstar, and an individual who constantly broke barriers and inspired the world.
As I walked the exhibit and listened to the amazing docent at the museum, I learned of Lee’s fitness and nutrition routines and how he worked to build strength and innovate on his craft. He created a new form of martial arts called Jeet Kune Do which was based on Lee’s own philosophies and ideas about self-defense. I observed the archaic-looking fitness equipment and viewed clips from his film “Enter the Dragon” and was mesmerized by the question of how Lee was able to be so good and accomplish seemingly impossible feats. As I continued to journey through the exhibit, it became clear. He believed it could be done.
Because of Lee’s lofty aspirations, innovator’s mindset and tremendous work ethic to bring his dreams to life, Bruce Lee is relevant to even those who haven’t seen any of his films (Enter the Dragon, Game of Death, and Fists of Fury were some of his most famous films.). Lee was able to prove to the world that he could be an international star–even if he looked different from the “typical” action hero. He was loved by the world and transcended nationalities. To this day, my family in India watches Bruce Lee movies and I have an uncle there who proudly showed off to me the two-finger push-up he learned from Lee. Bruce Lee executed to perfection and the world noticed.
I personally found the experience to be very eye-opening in terms of learning about the challenges that Lee experienced at every turn. As I perused the wall of artwork from his TV shows and movies, and read about the racist portrayals of Lee, and other Asian people, in TV and movies at the time, I felt how difficult Lee’s journey was. He had to face harmful and hurtful stereotypes and overt racism. Lee encountered constant adversity, even as a TV star. For example, when he was in the show “Green Hornet,” he was paid significantly less money than the white protagonist, and he was given much less screen time and lines despite his many theatrical talents. I think that it is important for young people to learn about Lee because of how he persevered and fought against stereotypes and injustices.

Also, the exhibit allows people to see the beautiful intersection of American and Chinese cultures in Lee’s identity, inspiring me, and giving me tremendous hope for the future. On a more personal level, Lee’s story specifically resonates with me because of my dual-identity as both an Indian and American. It is important to me that both facets of my identity can co-exist and I can grow as an individual by having this experience.
The exhibit connects to today’s world because of how it shows people a role model for discovering one’s identity in life and forging their own path. Lee married an American Caucasian woman, Linda Cadwell, which was considered scandalous at the time because interracial marriage was still illegal in several US states. For Bruce Lee, he blended his native Chinese culture with his newfound American identity to help craft something truly unique. Moreover - he showed that it can be done.
Overall, the Bruce Lee exhibit is a must-see—especially for my generation, because of how we can apply the lessons learned from Lee’s journey. In a complex world of misperceptions and barriers, the story of Bruce Lee is relevant today more than ever. Enter a true American hero.

Written by Nikhil Kothari. Kothari is a rising junior at Menlo School in the San Francisco Bay Area. This summer, he’s the Education and Community Engagement intern at the Chinese Historical Society of America (CHSA). He became interested in working with CHSA because of our wonderful museum exhibits and our efforts to raise awareness about the history of Asians in America and promote their legacy. Throughout this summer, he’ll be writing biweekly blog posts on a variety of topics associated with Chinese culture such as food, athletes, celebrities and docenting our Bruce Lee exhibit.

Exactly How To Clean Up A Rug
Also better, it comes with a couple of attachments stored directly on the vacuum cleaner, which you can connect to the 6-foot-long pipe to tidy furniture or get into gaps. YOU JUST HAD TO GET ME ALL IN MY FEELINGS THIS MORNING!
😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩
Tumblr media
But okay, seriously, that one…I’ve been there with my son. Those exact words were said by him. Even when you have these vows, promises for your family, and what you hope is a future, life can change in an instant. For kids, they know more than you think! They always do! They see everything and will eventually either their emotions will tell you or they will. It sucks for kids like this! I’ve had to go thru it and it just fucking sucks. He learned the hard way to not break our son’s heart (Army is making sure he pays a nice amount twice a month when his CO found out what he did).
Even with Clay being there, I’ve been there. My brother has been there for my son from day 1. My son was technically his birthday present since he was born the day after my brothers 14th birthday. Coit worships my brother and I thank God that he has him to look up too! Not just my brother but my dad, boyfriend, brother in law, uncle, my best friend, and his Godfather.
I can’t wait to read it babe! I know that as always, it will be amazing!
You know I'm always choosing violence lmaooo
And I couldn't even imagine how frustrating and heartbreaking that was to go through
I'm so happy he has amazing father figures surrounding him that will be with him for the long haul ❤️
And yess it's about to be WILD lol

Feeling the need to document my life more. Here are some recent snippets, nuggets of small joys here and there.
Tumblr media
Phil picking out satsuma mandarins at the Civic Center farmers market. Very cute.
Tumblr media
Homemade chicken pho. Next time, fewer noodles, saltier broth. Otherwise, impressive for my first try.
Tumblr media
SF is seriously my favorite city in the world. I know most people would disagree, but it’s so quaint, romantic, complex. I think I also like who I am when I’m here. The pictured bar - Kells - was where I felt pronounced whiteness for maybe the first time in my adulthood. So not the best memory, but super cute.
Tumblr media
I’m starting a little garden on my balcony. Pictured: butter lettuce, tomato, jalepeño, and 깻잎.
Tumblr media
Phil and I are just aging together - quiet Saturday afternoons, drinking tea with a view.
Tumblr media
I have a baby face with many fine lines. But here’s a recent photo of me and Phil. I don’t really dread or fear aging anymore. I miss experiencing exciting novelties, but it’s a privilege to age and see each new year. Hearing of so many more younger folks suffering through sickness and dying prematurely.
Tumblr media
View from the base of Coit Tower; my first time going recently.
Tumblr media
My childhood besties came up from LA, for a rare trip without their kiddos. It was wonderful.
Tumblr media
Still such a sucker for a good cappuccino and latte art. With Phil at Marisol in the mission.
Tumblr media
Hike at Joaquin Miller in Oakland on Thanksgiving. Missed these quiet Thanksgivings on our own.

Dog
The first time I read Dog, it was about a dog wandering the streets enjoying the surroundings and taking in sights and smells of the city. Reading the poem, a second and third time led me to believe that there are some political connotations. The dog talks about a police officer that may not taste good, and that he would rather eat beef but then says that he does “not hate policemen but has no use for them” and proceeds to say that between a cow and the “policeman either might do.” Maybe he really does hate policemen enough to eat them should the opportunity present itself. Shortly after those statements he walks past Congressman Doyle who he states he is “not afraid of but that he is just another fire hydrant” to him. The irony and objective correlative of it is that dogs do pee on fire hydrants, but many humans might like to do the same to some congressmen if they were not taking the chance of being imprisoned for it. But this dog does not have time to pee on the congressman because he is free regardless of the “discouraging, depressing, and absurd” comments he hears. He goes on to say that he is free and cannot perjure himself and will tell the truth because of democracy and the right to be honest and or have free speech if you will. He does not want to be just another “dog” that is told what to do and to follow the normalcies of life without putting his perspective into things. He does not want to be another puppet “with his head cocked sideways, like a living question mark” not knowing anything about his existence or purpose in life.
Dog
BY LAWRENCE FERLINGHETTI
The dog trots freely in the street
and sees reality
and the things he sees
are bigger than himself
and the things he sees
are his reality
Drunks in doorways
Moons on trees
The dog trots freely thru the street
and the things he sees
are smaller than himself
Fish on newsprint
Ants in holes
Chickens in Chinatown windows
their heads a block away
The dog trots freely in the street
and the things he smells
smell something like himself
The dog trots freely in the street
past puddles and babies
cats and cigars
poolrooms and policemen
He doesn’t hate cops
He merely has no use for them
and he goes past them
and past the dead cows hung up whole
in front of the San Francisco Meat Market
He would rather eat a tender cow
than a tough policeman
though either might do
And he goes past the Romeo Ravioli Factory
and past Coit’s Tower
and past Congressman Doyle
He’s afraid of Coit’s Tower
but he’s not afraid of Congressman Doyle
although what he hears is very discouraging
very depressing
very absurd
to a sad young dog like himself
to a serious dog like himself
But he has his own free world to live in
His own fleas to eat
He will not be muzzled
Congressman Doyle is just another
fire hydrant
to him
The dog trots freely in the street
and has his own dog’s life to live
and to think about
and to reflect upon
touching and tasting and testing everything
investigating everything
without benefit of perjury
a real realist
with a real tale to tell
and a real tail to tell it with
a real live
              barking
                         democratic dog
engaged in real
                      free enterprise
with something to say
                             about ontology
something to say
                        about reality
                                        and how to see it
                                                               and how to hear it
with his head cocked sideways
                                       at streetcorners
as if he is just about to have
                                       his picture taken
                                                             for Victor Records
                                  listening for
                                                   His Master’s Voice
                      and looking
                                       like a living questionmark
                                                                 into the
                                                              great gramaphone
                                                           of puzzling existence
                 with its wondrous hollow horn
                         which always seems
                     just about to spout forth
                                                      some Victorious answer
                                                              to everything

Save Time: Time is money. and in the modern age, it seems like none of us has enough time to enjoy ourselves or connect with our loved ones. We already mentioned how much time the average person spends cleaning their home. But many people spend even more time on keeping their homes shipshape. Why spend time cleaning when you could save time and do more fulfilling things? When a company does your cleaning for you, you could spend the time helping a child with their homework or taking a walk with your significant other. Having that chance to recharge will allow you to relax and better focus on your work. please visit this link https://www.serenityclean.com/ and you get residential cleaning solutions including one-time cleanings, recurring services, and move-in/move. services the Cleveland area, including Beachwood, Chagrin Falls, Mayfield, Mentor, Solon, Twinsburg, Cleveland Heights, and Willoughby.
The Right Tools Do a Better Job: No matter how hard you scrub or mop, the tools and products you use don’t work as well as the professional cleaning tools used by COIT cleaners. We have residential cleaning down to fine art, and our sixty years in the industry have led to us developing some of the most advanced cleaning tools and methods in the world. Our team of professionals takes pride in their work and never skimps on the details. Rather than spending hours trying to scrub away stains on grout and tile, we can make the magic happen, restoring grout and tile – and other surfaces, including granite, stone, and cement. Our tools and processes are truly the best in the business.
Spotless Bathrooms: Even those of us who don’t mind cleaning don’t typically look forward to cleaning bathrooms. Showers, tubs, floors, toilets, and basins must be fully cleaned and disinfected regularly to keep them looking and smelling fresh. Don’t stress out about bathroom cleaning. Go for a walk, visit a friend, have a coffee, or go shopping while we work to get your bathrooms looking incredible. Our cleaning processes make it possible to restore tile and grout that is looking a little dingy and remove any stains that have developed. Your fixtures will be left gleaming, and the entire room looking like new.
An Added Layer of Detail: Cleaning is a game of layers. Although you can wipe down your oven, refrigerator, and countertops, there’s likely to be all kinds of dirt you’ve missed in those hard-to-reach places. Just imagine a hard-to-please mother-in-law examining your work and finding all the spots you’ve missed! When you clean your own home, you’re likely working to some kind of strict deadline. You might need to move on to other chores or head out to pick the kids up from school. Or perhaps you just want to put your feet up and kick back with your favorite TV show. A cleaning service is the perfect way to give your home that extra level of attention. They’ll check those hard-to-reach places and do those jobs you’re always putting off until next week. After all, it’s their job to give your home a thorough clean and they’ll go the extra mile to ensure everything is squeaky clean.
Long-Term Savings: Your furniture, carpets, drapes, and blinds are valuable. Without a regular deep clean, performed with professional equipment and procedures, they begin to deteriorate. Carpet, upholstery, and drape fabric fibers break down, and blinds lose their smooth surface. You can help preserve the longevity of these valuable items with a regularly scheduled cleaning. For carpets and blinds, many of our residential clients wisely choose to have this added service every six months. Ward off the natural deterioration of fibers and surfaces by calling our team to professionally extract all contaminants and restore your items. Our truck-mounted carpet cleaning equipment produces truly superior results.
