Three weeks ago @osleeplessflower2o posted a doodle of their current persona meeting their first and it inspired me lol

I've had at least three over the years I've been online and this was my attempt at drawing them from memory. They're awful...I know... I still spent several hours on it and this isn't even the first attempt...(⁠╥⁠﹏⁠╥⁠)

Disclaimer: these might be unrealistic but they are ofc headcanons. Also, I might do a part 2 of more or different drivers? Not edited.

Would do anything and everything for you. You want a specific food? He'll go pick it up for you. Looking at something online? He'll buy it for you. Literally everything and anything.

Like, "No Charles is okay, I don't need it right now, and plus it's too much." and he would be like, "No if you want it'll get it, anything for you." and then he would buy it even if you still say its too much or something like that.

He reminds me of a puppy, so I imagine him following you everywhere. However, if it was somewhere where there's a big crowd or a bunch of fans hell be in front to protect you.

I feel like he's more of a romantic person with dates and gestures.

like candle-lit dinners, flowers all the time, fancy dinners and outings, etc.

Would compliment you 24/7 in the sweetest ways whenever, wherever, about whatever.

He would most definitely be mad if someone hurt you. Like for example, if someone bumped into you at an event he would probably give them a slightly dirty look and then pull you closer to him so you do not get bumped again.

Like if you're sick, by the time you wake up there's a cup of tea, soup, and medicine. Or if you need help grabbing something would already be reaching for it. It's like he's 2 steps ahead of you but in a sweet way.

I think he would definitely like to hear about the little things about you. how your day was, or plans you have.

I also think he would like shopping with you for some reason, like showing him or trying on clothes that you like. its like a mini fashion show for him but with you as the model.

I feel like he would be the type of boyfriend that would meet your friends or family, and they initially think that he's mean or cold, but over time they realize he's really sweet and nice.

I think he would secretly make a playlist for you or about you. Like songs that remind him of you or that he knows you like.

He would probably form this by playing random music during drives and keeping note of what you like, and then once he has time he puts them into a playlist for you that he plays when you're with him or if he misses you.

He's probably more of a quality time lover. He enjoys doing things with you and he has dates that revolve around that.

I feel like he's the type to give random gifts for no reason at all. Like he just shows up with flowers, jewelry, or a book or something.

for example, he would randomly show up with a stuffed animal or something he saw while he was away and explain that he saw it and thought of you so he bought it to give you.

I think he would like to keep your guy's relationship more private but not secret.

I think he would be a touchy bf. (Love language is physical touch)

He always has to be touching you at all times, whether that be holding your hand, hand on your hip, or having his hand on the small of your back.

You guys do "childish things" as dates. Like an arcade, coloring books, building legos, or board game nights. Though, on the other hand, I also think there's a side where it's more "romantic", like nice dinners or something fancy. It would be a mix but either way it's something special.

Mm, there's so many things I want to say about the new asides episode, mainly because it was so obviously based on the secret santa scenario from the patreon livestream a little while back...

The only thing Thomas really changed was Logan being the organizer instead of Janus and then Patton's gift to Remus. Most of the chat said he'd get Remus an octopus plushie or a slime stim toy, but I agree with the change because it works really well and rounds out the message at the end, too.

Something that the chat had also been insistent on was giving Logan a Perfect gift, and since Logan was the character hosting the stream, he kept insisting that while Virgil knows his interests, it probably wouldn't be something perfect (pretty sure we decided on a space-themed Lego set that was definitely not specifically my own idea I had put out there or anything 👀), so it was fantastic having that turned around into a fun little puzzle which not only got us some tasteful angst but also gave Logan an interesting and unique present that he would absolutely enjoy, which is exactly what we all wanted!

Again, all the other presents were more or less the same, with maybe less gore involved in Remus' present to Virgil, and with about the same responses, too, which was great! Patton genuinely enjoying his present even though it was meant to be a joke, Janus actually getting a second real present that benefits him, Roman not immediately on board with his gift because it's not extravagant but then realizing the freedom and flexibility that comes with it is its own reward... It was all wonderful.

It also, as with the last little asides episode, gives us a great idea of where everyone stands (I guess both literally in Thomas' mindspace as well as, you know, narratively).

It feels significant that Logan insists that Janus and Remus be included in their activities, but acknowledges that they are traveling there, implying the dark sides don't just hang around or anything, they come and go, which makes sense.

Virgil still vehemently hates Janus but isn't making barbs about his inclusion like he has in the past, and Roman still seems uncomfortable with his brother being around while Remus just seems delighted to be included at all. Roman still has animosity with Janus, understandably, but he's already kind of begrudgingly making his way towards acceptance with him.

Now for the more interesting details - first, Janus and Remus purposefully trying to egg on Logan's anger. Not the first time, but they seem more excited about it here rather than teasing him about it as they have before, which definitely implies confidence that it's not only prevalent but also definitely plot-relevant for the future, not that that was even a question at this point.

Next, it's interesting that Janus and Remus seem to be able to bounce off each other even with how very different they are, but the light sides are so full of discontent that there's a natural discourse with their gifts until there's a chance to explain... It shows that the light sides do not have natural trust in each other, which should be obvious but here it's on display in front of the dark sides, too. They are so clearly at odds (even if they can eventually come around) when the dark sides seem to have figured their shit out.

Also, it's nice to see Patton's gift did, in a way, emulate Virgil's gift from the first Christmas episode, as it also kind of implies Janus' acceptance in that way.

I was actually quite delighted to see that Logan's gift to Roman wasn't just the joke from the livestream, but that it showed Logan did genuinely put thought into the gift but realized he wasn't going to be able to meet the expectations of someone with a limitless imagination and instead played into that fact rather than try to war against it, using something not only practical but unconventional to someone like Roman, something he wouldn't expect but would be able to appreciate with time... And also something that technically takes the decision-making tension away from Logan and makes it Roman's problem instead, though Roman wouldn't be one to overthink and view it as a problem, so it works out extremely well. Finding balance and all that.

And then, of course, the end card scene being really adorable and sweet - that Thomas was thinking about gift-giving because he'd wanted to get something perfect for Nico, and I will agree that he did a great job, adding a tiny bit of (somewhat fresh) nostalgia and catering to Nico's interests...but then wanting to make what is usually perceived as a Big step in what is still a budding relationship, ooh boy... That's definitely some plot setup right there!

Overall, a fantastic episode, based on a lot of ideas from a wonderful livestream - I genuinely loved this. It makes me very hopeful for the season finale, whenever we do eventually get it!

They’re eating potato salad and pulled pork at a picnic table outside of Savannah. The picnic table is behind a garden shed that has been converted to a barbecue shack. Mulder read about it on a message board, said it was worth the forty-five minute detour.

It is. She will never admit this without sodium pentothal.

“Wanna go to the fair later?” Mulder asks around a bite of sandwich. “Saw a sign outside the fire station.”

Scully frowns, poking at her potato salad with a spork. “Mulder. Those rides are set up by meth-addled degenerates with all the engineering expertise of an 8 year old with a Lego set.”

“Ahhhh, come on. We can make out on the Ferris wheel, it’ll be fun.”

She blushes and hates them both for it. “Mulder.”

He pouts. “It’s my birthday.”

“It’s August 3rd.”

“Well,” he concedes, “it’s my birthday next.”

She’s had vague ideas about his birthday, a new lingerie set maybe? But it embarrasses her to consider in any real way. They’ve slept together four times but she’s mortified at the thought of chatting with the leggy sylphs at Victoria’s Secret.

Mulder leans across the table on his elbows to kiss her, outside in the daylight in front of the ghosts of General Sherman and Flannery O’Connor and everybody.

There’s a whoop from a few stoned teenagers across the gravel, eating Kool-Aid pickles.

She tries to look prim and scandalized when he sits back, feels herself fail miserably.

“Fine,” she says. “Let’s ride the Ferris wheel.” She loves the idea of sitting at the top with him, the little frisson that will come as the seat stops and swings. She knows he’ll try to win her a prize at some rigged game.

He looks intolerably smug and she almost reconsiders on principle. He washes down another mouthful of pork with sweet tea.

“And the making out part?” He bats his lashes at her to disarming effect.

She sips her own tea. “Not a Ferris wheel exactly, but my first kiss was on the um…the what do you call it? The sky tram thing at the San Diego Zoo.”

A wolf whistle from Mulder, echoed by the teens. “Minx,” he says.

Scully grins. “We were visiting some friends over summer break and they had a son my age on whom I had a life-threatening crush. His name was Frankie. We somehow ended up alone in the air tram gondola car together after the camel rides and, well…”

“You send him letters on scented stationery all summer?”

She had indeed.

“No.”

“Liar,” he says, chewing on his straw and leering. “So how was it?”

“We both smelled of camel and we both had braces. It was very romantic.” She’d ended up with a cut on her lip that Melissa blackmailed her with.

He laughs. “Ahab ever find out?”

She grimaces. “Thankfully not. We didn’t see each other after that, actually.”

“Poor Frankie.”

They finish their food, return to their hot, stuffy car for the drive back to the motel. They do not touch.

(Later, on the Ferris wheel, they kiss like they invented it. He makes obnoxious remarks while she eats a vanilla soft serve custard; she indulges him shamelessly and holds his eyes while she licks it.

He wins her a monstrous pink bear that she gifts to a small, sticky girl.

They fall into bed for the fifth time and his mouth tastes of lemonade and sex. Above them is the Dog Star. Vega, Arcturus. Scully, who wrote her thesis on Einstein’s twin paradox, knows time travel is impossible. But she is thirteen again, her lips swollen with kisses and the sweet impossibility of being young and stunningly in love in summertime.)

Hi, this will be the first huxloween I plan on participating in, and I have just a couple of questions I couldn't find the answers to in your faq. One, for the prompt submit, do we simply send in ideas for the individual day's prompts through your askbox or is it a different process? Second of all, is there a discord or similar for this event? Very excited to be participating this year!

I'm so glad to hear you're excited for Huxloween, it's definitely one of my favourite events!

To submit a prompt you just have to send us a message here on tumblr using our inbox, or you can submit ideas to our twitter account (@huxloween on twitter). The prompts do not have to be complicated or fully-fleshed out ideas, often people just submit the skeleton (no pun intended) of an idea (example: kylo and hux wear the same costume, or kylo and hux go to a haunted house) or simple one-word prompts (example: fairies and fae, cryptids, haunted houses, ghosts, vampires, werewolves).

We'll take all the prompts and try to group them together by theme and create a calendar of ideas/prompts that we'll release on October 1st and then everyone just goes for it! You can write something, make art, make mood boards, do photoshoots, poetry, build lego or other model-type dioramas, or do needlepoint/knitting/fabric arts. You can do as many or as few of the prompts as you want and you don't have to wait for a specific day to get started - if you jump ahead, we might just wait to reblog the final work until that prompt's day but EVERYTHING will be reblogged or retweeted. We'll also have an AO3 collection set up by October 1st.

There's no discord channel as far as I know, people might have informal discussions about huxloween on already established channels but we don't have chat parties or check-ins - this is a relaxed, no-pressure event. We're on twitter as @huxloween and both mods are on twitter, there's also a Kylux community on Blue Sky.

Have fun with the event, get thinking of ideas and submit as much as you want! When you post final works, we just ask that you make sure to @ us on tumblr, sometimes just using the hashtag makes things slip through the cracks and we don't see them. Hope this helps!

Anyways, this piece is for two old Star Wars oc's I made, back when I didn't even know what an oc was. I never properly finished this sketch but I still really like how it turned out.

Star Wars was the first fandom I was exposed to and although I'm not exactly in it nowadays (looking at you Disney...), I still have really fond memories of the years I was a part of it.

As a Garmadon fan, seeing some of these people talk about Wu and Misako is fucking insane. Like, I’ve always been pretty indifferent to the two of them, not because of anything they’ve done, more just because I don’t find them all that interesting (to me). But damn I do not think they deserve some of the hate they get. People get fucking unhinged going on rants about how they’re bad people or whatever when all of their evidence is just twisting the truth or making shit out to be worse than what actually happened? Like, yes, Misako left lloyd in a boarding school for bad boys, do I think that was a mistake? Uh, probably. Perhaps a different school would have been a better choice, but whatever. She had Lloyd’s best interests at heart when she did so. It was not out of malice or anything but people just. Don’t get that. It’s so stupid. Anyway. Point of this: keep up the good work. Stand up for those two little Lego people, and don’t let the morons out there get to you. They are stupid and it shows

You wanna talk about unhinged?

A few years ago, back when Tumblr group chats were a thing, we had a lil one of Wu fans, cause it was nice to talk about him without getting crap. One day, we were talking about how depressing all the hate in the tags was, and a few of us made posts asking people to calm it down just a bit.

Some people thought this was hilarious and started posting more stuff, and some even sending awful asks.

Like bro??? Over a lego????

I just freaking hate seeing things get twisted, and my favourite characters getting painted as the villains in nearly every scenario, when it's just.... not true

Yeah, leaving Lloyd at Darkley's wasn't the best move, but we literally know nothing about Misako's situation at the time, other than Garmadon was succumbing to the venom or was already in the Underworld, and she knew Lloyd would be the Green Ninja. That's IT. We don't know if she HAD other options.

Also, it's really weird when people compare taking your kid to a BOARDING SCHOOL to leaving them at an orphanage???? Those are two different things???

And I wish people would stop saying she left him to "go exploring" or stuff like that.... she left him to research the prophecy. To find out all she could, maybe even stop it.

And since coming back into Lloyd's life, she's been there constantly.

Plus. She's an ARCHAEOLOGIST. That's so bloody cool.

(A few days pass after Ingo comes home. Emmet has been moping the entire time, reluctant to interact with what he thinks is just the scraps of his brother. That entire time, Ingo has been trying to get Emmet’s attention by increasingly silly means. He tries writing but it comes out in Hisuian by mistake, he tries an old Xtransciever but the device malfunctions, tries typing on a computer only to break it when he claws a key too hard, he tries spelling things out on the floor in Legos but a sleepy Emmet accidentally steps on it barefooted and falls on it, etc.. Now Ingo is beyond frustrated and has remembered what a dry-erase board is. He goes up to Emmet, who is busy being sad on the couch.)

“Emmet! Emmet, get up!”

(Ingo makes chittery Sneasel noises at Emmet. Emmet is too caught up in mourning. Ingo decides he’s done playing.)

Ingo takes a deep breath, bracing himself before he grabs the whiteboard and bonks Emmet’s skull with it.

“Gah!!” Emmet yelps as his eyes fly open, jerking in surprise so hard he pitches himself off the couch and lands on his face.

As Emmet lets out a muffled groan, Ingo feels his ear twitch in annoyance at the scene before him.

“What the heck? What’s gotten into—?”

Ingo sits perched on the couch, holding up his whiteboard with the message:

EMMET STOP BEING SAD I’M HERE

“Ingo…?” (Emmet stares in dull shock)

(Ingo nods emphatically)

“Is it really…?” (Emmet’s face goes from dawning joy to abruptly overcome by indignant rage as the last few days of moping catch up with him) “Why didn’t you say anything?!”

(Ingo doesn’t get his reaction until the deep instinct of sibling rage takes hold of him too and he scribbles out an equally pissy message)

I TRIED YOU DIDN'T LISTEN

Emmet sputters in fury at him.

“You should’ve tried harder!!!” he snaps.

Ingo taps on the last three words on the board, one at a time, growling pointedly.

“I THOUGHT YOU WERE GONE!!” Emmet shoots back in a volume that could rival Ingo’s on his best day, “I WAS SURE OF IT!”

(Ingo gets angrier)

I DIDN’T DO IT ON PURPOSE

Emmet throws his arms up and screams, “You asshole!! I just want to hug you and strangle you at the same time!”

Ingo’s ears are flat against his head, unable to contain his loud growl as he sloppily scribbles his words as fast as he can to express the inexplicable rage taking hold of him. The second he finishes he throws the marker down and thrusts the board at Emmet with a furious squeak.

SAME YOU DINGUS

Emmet sputters at him, his jaw working furiously, trying to come up with a response. As he stands there fuming, there’s a shift in the timbre of his breathing, going from fast and shallow to something thicker and choked.

“…it really is you.”

His breath hitches as he chokes back a sob, his strength seeming to fail him as he falls to his knees, staring at Ingo with hope blooming in his eyes.

Whatever anger Ingo had been feeling in that moment fizzles out as just quickly as it arrived. It’s enough to leave him reeling in confusion as he limps up to Emmet.

What is happening? Why does this rollercoaster of emotions feel so natural? As if they’ve done this sort of routine before?

Ingo rests his claws on Emmet’s hand, looking up at him in worry. Emmet just laughs wetly, struggling to hold back his tears as he covers his mouth,

“You never call me that unless you are verrry angry. Remember?”

Ingo very much does not. He grumbles in frustration and writes out another message.

MEMORY BAD HAVE AMNESIA SORRY

“It’s… jeez, it’s so stupid. Grandpa thought we were nuts. ‘You two scream and fight and now you’re hugging and crying. Oy, I give up!’” he quoted in a perfect imitation of their grandfather’s accent.

A faint memory flashes of the utterly vicious knock down, drag out fights that he and Emmet would sometimes get into as they grew up. While these incidents were rare, they were screaming, clawing, punching, biting affairs that resulted in trips to the hospital more than once.*

* (There was the time Emmet kicked him down the stairs, knocking out his two front baby teeth which he then accidentally swallowed. There was a time when he managed to smash one of their toys over Emmet’s head so hard he needed several stitches to close the wound. They could be mean as kids.

But every time, they ended the same way: hugging and sobbing on each other, wailing apologies between their tears, snot, and blood.)

“So, amnesia?” Emmet asks softly. He raises a hand to Ingo’s cheek, thumb brushing over his soft fur as he traces his facial markings. “Is that why you could not signal me until now?”

TRIED TO SIGNAL YOU FOR DAYS BUT YOUR HEAD WAS UP YOUR ASS

Emmet lets out a graceless snort, “Yeah, I guess I deserve that.”

Media I’ve Experienced in 2024 (February) SPOILERS

Same as last time, in order of when completed on a scale of 1-10

Clone High (2023) Season 2 (8/10)-Like a lot of people I wasn’t really on board with Clone High’s revival. If you want to know my thoughts it’s honestly a 6, it has some good jokes but it’s weighed down by more forced and obvious comedy. Season 2 however really surprised me, there were a ton of jokes I found funny, brought in some fanservice like Skunky Poo coming back and Cloney Island being fully realized, and a ton of the character chemistry works.

Bumblebee (10/10)-I never thought a solo Bumblebee movie with humans would work but it turned out to be pretty heartwarming and emotional. Charlie and Bee’s relationship felt real along with some fun action scenes.

Clone High (2002) (9/10)-I tried to watch the original Clone High back in 2022 but my memory got clouded by a lot of personal stuff at the time. So checking the original out felt like a reminder of what the show used to be. The bait-and-switch comedy is top notch, Gandhi’s prescience will always be welcome, and by God the emotional soundtrack makes a ton of scenes even funnier.

Hello Kitty:Roller Rescue (5/10)-Pretty basic beat-em-up, cute soundtrack and visuals, nothing too special. I’m probably just spoiled from playing Island Adventure.

The LEGO Movie (Rewatch) (10/10)-I watched this movie on the exact day of its 10 Year Anniversary and by God, this movie is as funny as I remember it. And after I just watched Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s other work in Clone High I can definitely tell I was spoiled from their comedy from age 8 too. The animation still looks great and I can basically recite the script from how many times I watched it in the past. While yes I’m biased, it’s a very sentimental type of bias that I can never let go.

The Lost Boys (7/10)-The Lost Boys is an old but fun movie. It captures the feeling of adolescent summer fun on the boardwalk along with the relatively small sense of horror of the vampire cult.

Us (9/10)-Back on Halloween last year I watched Get Out and I thought it was good as a psychological thriller but not really scary to me. Us on the other hand was a step-up in my opinion. The doppelgänger plot is really cool and the way the tethered family goes around terrorizing everyone felt thrilling. And man the twist, I’m not gonna spoil it but that twist felt like a complete game changer.

The Marvels (2/10)-This movie is not good but not the worst MCU movie ever. Personally I liked the interactions between Kamala, Monica, and Carol even though I’ve grown to dislike Carol overtime. But otherwise the villain is forgettable, a lot of the fight scenes are complete white-noise, and a lot of scenes are completely cringy and predictable.

Epic Career Quest (7/10)-Waking up after a Super Bowl aftermath was weird for me. I don’t know the general opinion is on this series but I found it entertaining. The characters being mismatched kind of works for me as someone who likes these types of ensembles like Drawn Together. And as a growing adult their messages about imposter syndrome and making your goals really stuck with me.

Terrifier (6/10)-I don’t know if this is a personal thing after seeing so much Invincible and Mortal Kombat but the violence here literally had no effect on me. Sure, this movie is scary but the plot kind of drags for me personally.

Terrifier 2 (8/10)-This movie is a step up in terms of scares and production value. Not to mention there’s more of a plot when the first was just a simple murder plot here it’s an extensive plot about people’s perception of Art The Clown and who he is. Where this movie falls flat for me is the sword thing, I personally thought that was an asspull and kind of out of place in a serial killer movie that a fantastical item just doesn’t fit.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Season 2 (8/10)-Moon Girl Season 1 was a fun show that does a lot of cool superhero stuff while also doing enough to stray away from Marvel to make it its own. What do I think of Season 2? It’s on the same level. Nothing really noteworthy, they still do fun things, visuals are nice, and some of the plots are interesting.

Megaman X4 (9/10)-Probably my favorite Megaman X game given what I think about future games. The gameplay is fast paced and fun, the bosses are challenging but fun too, and the transition from SNES to PS1 translated greatly. And the cutscenes exist, if you know you know.

Jujutsu Kaisen (9/10)-Yeah I decided to ride the JJK train and unlike Naruto I do understand the hype. The animation is fluent especially with the domain expansion and curse enemies. I loved characters like Gojo, Maki and Nobara from their entertaining personalities. And Where Our Blue Is will always be one of my favorite songs in anime.

Freddy Vs. Jason (7/10)-The human parts suck especially if they get in the way of crossovers. But Freddy and Jason when they show up together they make the most out of them fighting each other and killing others. Not to mention the setup that has Freddy provoking Jason to getting into Elm Street works really well.

Venom:Let There Be Carnage (3/10)-If I described this movie in one word it would be annoying. Venom is a very obnoxious character who constantly screams and complains about everything. The cliche drama between Eddie and the rest of world is insufferable. The only remotely good part of the movie is the effects on Carnage as it was done pretty well. But other than that I have no desire to watch this one again.

Re:Cutie Honey (8/10)-Kill La Kill mixed with Ghost in the Shell. I honestly thought this was animated by Trigger. But in all honesty I love the fast paced action and character moments.

Resident Evil Revelations (4/10)-Boring. The ship location gets old and I wasn’t scared even once. I honestly like RE6 more than this considering that game has a lot of variety and fun gameplay. This game is so slow and unfulfilling.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica (9/10)-I love how subversive this anime is. Flipping magical girl tropes to be grim dark was a unique twist and made the characters more real than the traditional magical girl stereotype.

Some Thoughts About the BIONICLE.com Galleries

Recently, I tried to see if the old BIONICLE.com galleries were archived. For those unfamiliar, on the old BIONICLE website there used to be a gallery where folks could submit their own MOCs (My Own Creation). I vividly remember spending many hours browsing it when I was young, and even submitting some MOCs of my own.

Anyway, I checked the Wayback Machine to see if I could find anything, and didn't have much luck. I went to the TTV Message Boards and asked about it, and basically was told that the old galleries were barely archived.

Weirdly enough, this both saddens and fascinates me. Let me explain the latter emotion first. The thing about the BIONICLE fanbase is that it's one of the most archive-heavy fandoms I've ever been a part of. Pretty much every piece of BIONICLE media, from the obvious to the ridiculously obscure, has been found and archived, mainly on BioMediaProject. You remember an old BIONICLE game you used to play online? You can very easily find and play it. You want to see a video going over Lego's thoughts on BIONICLE's audience (which includes the assumption that BIONICLE fans had a 15 minute attention span)? You can find that pretty easily. Want to play lost or unreleased BIONICLE games? The fandom has dug them up and you can now play them on an emulator. The archives of obscure BIONICLE media are extensive, which makes the fact that the galleries are lost rather bizarre. Fans can dig up an early appearance of BIONICLE on some random Russian TV show but not something that was a pretty big facet of the BIONICLE fandom and fan experience while it was around, and that's just weird to me.

It's also sad to me, because in a weird way it represents a loss of history. This may sound overdramatic, but it feels like the best way to describe it. People today still make and post MOCs, which is cool as hell. I love seeing all the wacky and downright impressive things people make. However, here's the thing about the modern MOC scene: most of the folks making and posting them are hardcore BIONICLE fans who have been making MOCs since they were kids. They're mostly adults, and as such are able to make more complex and breathtaking creations. Modern MOCists are hobbyists with disposable income to buy the pieces they want and have the benefit of the modern day. This benefit includes the benefit of new technology, like 3D printing, and just the fact that BIONICLE is over and we have all the types of pieces that came out during its run. There's more around for folks to build with than just a Mata torso, y'know?

Let's compare this to those who would use the old BIONICLE.com galleries. The biggest difference is that the gallery community was mainly made up of children who were fans of BIONICLE as it was being released. The MOCs were less refined, and were mainly made with whatever the kids had around/could convince their parents to buy for them. Since the line was still producing new sets, kids of this era didn't have access to all the pieces modern MOCists do now since many did not exist at the time. All of these factors affect the flavor and vibe of what would've been made. They aren't going to be incredibly dense and large sets that blow you away with their complexity. They're just gonna be something some kid made for fun. That's not to say that incredibly complex and meticulously designed MOCs didn't exist at the time; it's just that to see them you had to wade through a lot of kids simpler MOCs. You don't quite have that anymore, since the community now is made up mainly of dedicated hobbyists and not 10 year olds who just got Gadunka for Christmas.

That old vibe of kids making whatever isn't quite around anymore in the modern fanspace, and I'm a bit sad that even the archives of that aren't around anymore.

I know this was a long ramble, but I just had to get it off my chest.
