This was an idea I came up with while doing Kanji copy work, and the character '悪' (warui) in the Kanji dictionary I've been using just comes with a whole lot of example words, all of which are negative. Which was when I was like, "I can so imagine Atsushi quoting this at Akutagawa" Also one of the pronunciations is 'Aku' which while a different Kanji from the one used in the name 'Akutagawa Ryuunosuke', is still kind of funny. Hence 'malice' being pronounced as 'aku-i' and 'evil deed' as 'aku-ji'

Didn't really know how to draw Rashoumon, but I ended up going with dragon heads. Cause I feel like I've heard it described similar to dragons somewhere, and it was fun.

Good news!

Little snuggle buddies.  River decided it was nap time after I cleaned her front paws. 💕

I heard from the vet today and he said that River's kidney results were normal, so it's not kidney failure!  Due to her globulin levels being increased, he suspects she has an infection (UTI) and is prescribing her Baytril, which I'll pick up tomorrow.

He also wanted to ensure she stays hydrated, so is going to show me and big human how to give subcutaneous fluids (it's a two person job).  This will save her the stress of a car trip and vet visit. 

Her calcium levels were a bit high, though that is most likely due to diet (alfalfa is in the critical care mix as well as some of the hay cubes since she doesn't really try to eat actual hay anymore).  He said at her age, we pick our battles and it'll just be something to keep tabs on--I'll try to increase the timothy pellet portion of her paste mix and the bunny Ensure mix.

Watching “Life on our Planet” on Netflix and some 500 billion (or was it million 🤔?) years ago there was an apex predator called the “abnormal shrimp” and I feel like this 😂 about that.

Now, is that because I’ve retained my childlike amusement or because it’s 20 to 11 at night?

It's Day 2 of the DanceCraft intensive I'm taking, 6 hrs of dancing everyday for 5 days, & had to represent my fictional hubby 😀 I've got my fingers crossed I'll have the energy to finish something tonight to post, but I'm also using my limited downtime this week to finish pre-writing the first few days of Kinktober. Two big stories & a headcanon done so far!

Me: No. Just studying.

i absolutely adore how ofmd is a show driven by how people want to learn stuff. not just the characters (although, ohhhhh boy), but the writers too. they’re all learning from each other. and it’s so lovely

Listen man, you guys can't be like "you guys need to be normal about asexuality" and then turn around and get weirdly judgemental when you find out someone doesn't have sex by choice. Like that's weird that some of you do that.

After decades of learning things online and offline alone without guidance I think I cracked something.

Especially now with so many tutorials and guru's out there. I think (and this will sound cheesy but give me a moment) you should not seek out advice on how to learn said thing from others.

Numbered list of reasons:

Productivity/guru people in any niche are not there to help you. they are there to every week churn out content about a "strategy" and "hacks" those are not learning exercises. Don't listen to them if you're just starting to learn something.

Just start trying doing your thing. Until you know what makes you like it or what makes you tick or even if you want to learn it at all you won't be able to figure out what is a "good" advice or what is a "bad" advice. Try to figure out your personal relationship with the thing before getting other's opinions.

If you take advice, take it from someone you personally admire in the space. Not the most popular person, not the most talked talked about person, not the person who was doing that thing then turned into a productivity-person. No. Find someone who you like and see how they did it.

Find a community of people who are also learning the thing you do. But a positive or neutral space. Not a place where they constantly bash other people. Cause... you know it's like 10 red flags under a trench coat.

Obviously this doesn't apply to things like becoming doctor :D Just something i was finally able to dissect once i picked up drawing for the first time this year.

There's a version of the "don't go grocery shopping while hungry" rule specifically for writers where you should never under any circumstances be allowed to touch your draft within 3 hours of reading a really good story. Because sometimes when you read something great your head goes "fuck this is so much better than my stuff I should make that more like THIS instead!" Look at me. That's the devil talking and you should close the document NOW.

“They finally made this theme more blatant-" Why does it need to be blatant. What's wrong with subtlety? Concepts can be underused but subtlety is not neglect.

Blaring all your concepts and themes is not good writing. It's so disruptive to a story's flow when the characters look off the screen to be like "See? This is the concept. The idea. The theme."

If you can feel the hand of the author becoming too heavy that's bad.

For example: I see people saying Azula's abuse in ATLA is more blatant in the live action and it's good because "it's being discussed more". It already was discussed at length. The show made it clear she was a victim at every turn, every behavior, every reaction, it came from a place of trauma. It was made clear that she was scared of ending up like Zuko because Zuko was an example of what would happen to her if she failed. When she says she's better than Zuko it wasn't just because she was raised to think hersef superior to him but because Zuko failed and failures get mutilated and exiled, failures are abandoned. In that final Agni Kai the music is morose and somber because this isnt some epic battle its a fucking tragedy, the burning out of "Ozai's brightest light" and Azula finally succumbing to her terror and trauma she was repressing now that her worst fears are realized. How can you see a fourteen year old girl chained to a sewer grate wailing and writhing and breathing fire desperately as unsympathetic? Even Katara and Zuko are horrified as to what has become of her.

The writers weren't looking us in the eye and saying "See? She's a victim too" when they wrote this, they weaved it in. They weaved it into her obsesison with symmetry, her extreme perfectionism, the way she talks about Ozai, the ways she calls herself a monster, her isolation from those with healthy home lives, all the ways she held herself together and ultimately all the cracks and seams that she shattered down when she fell apart. It did not need to be blatant to be clear.
