Oh joy of joys! I thought it was just a trailer! Can’t wait to watch this later. I need something light with DT in, having just binged two series of Broadchurch, I was getting a bit depressed.

Izzy Hands and Crowley interaction!!!
there’s this film from the 2000s that stars David Tennant (Crowley) and Con O’Neill (Izzy Hands) and the two characters interactions are hilarious! Con O’Neills character is very similar to Izzy Hands and watching it felt like a crossover fanfic lol!
The movie is called Learners (2007) and the only place I’ve found that you can watch it on is YouTube :)

Round two: многоꙮчитїй, mnogoočitii vs Drache
(poll at the end)
многоꙮчитїй, mnogoočitii (Old Church Slavonic)
IPA not found
Translation: many-eyed
Old Church Slavonic is an extinct language that belonged to the Slavic branch of Indo-European languages. It’s closest related to today’s Macedonian and Bulgarian, but was standardised based on the dialect of Slavs living near 9th century Thessaloniki in today’s Greece by missionaries, who translated Christian literature so they could convert people easier. Old Church Slavonic was then used as the liturgical language of various Orthodox and Byzantine Catholic Churches. A later version of the language called Church Slavonic is still in use in churches today.
Motivation: This particular instance of the word appears once in a manuscript from around 1429. It is the book of psalms, and the word is used in the phrase "серафими многоꙮчитїй," to mean "many-eyed seraphim," as in an angel. the "ꙮ", or multiocular o, is one of my favorite Unicode symbols and also symbols in general. In the next version of Unicode it's going to be updated, because it doesn't even have enough eyes as the original manuscript gave it! Looking past the ꙮ fixation, though, I'm a fan of angels and angelic imagery, as well as eye imagery. A single word for "many-eyed" is really cool to me, since I don't recall there being one in English. It's a useful phrase for more than just angels, like spiders, molluscs...
Tumblr media
Drache (Walloon)
[dʁaʃ]
Translation: Sudden heavy rain
Walloon is an Indo-European language belonging to the Romance branch and closely related to French and its varieties. It's usually considered a dialect of French, but is a language according to linguists. Walloon is spoken in Belgium by a decreasing population, in 2007 it was estimated 600 000 people knew it and perhaps half of them used it actively. It isn’t used in schools and not all young people speak it since many have French as their native language. This is my speculation, but perhaps it will become a local dialect of French, keeping some local vocabulary and features but largely being mutually intelligible.
Motivation: It sounds like the noise a bucket of water thrown on the ground. It is also used as a way of referring to a round of drinks. Walloon is spoken in Belgium and some words are also used in northern France. It is not very well known because most learners are taught the French of the Academie Française but those local dialects are very important.

I find it hard to even name my OC's hero persona's, so you know it's especially hard to name the civilian forms, Maybe you guys can help? ᵖˡᵉᵃˢᵉ ᴵ ʳᵉᵃˡˡʸ ⁿᵉᵉᵈ ᵗʰᵉ ᵉⁿᵍᵃᵍᵉᵐᵉⁿᵗ ᶦ'ᵐ ˢᵒ ˡᵒⁿᵉˡʸ.
Rough Backstory:1971 - Mysterious humanoid creature washes upon shoreline. The creature was believed dead, but awoke when being taken to a lab further inland. There were 3 dead and 4 injured before it was terminated by passing police officers. The creature is believed to have been released from a broken off piece of an iceberg in Antarctica. The creature is dubbed "Orc" because of its similarities to the fantasy species of the same name
1973 - New illness is determined to be caused from chemicals within the corpse of the humanoid. It is completely unknown what causes someone to be infected and cases are reported from all over Japan, The symptoms are unpredictable and some are near impossible. The disease is called "Orc Sickness" by the public because of how infectee's skin turns green when near death. Even with modern medicine, those infected only have a 4% survival rate.
2007 - Child prodigy is infected. After hours of fighting off the disease, he overcomes it. A couple of days later, he finds two blueprints for a strange, belt-like device and a bottle shaped needle device in his mailbox. He works on the device as a pet project throughout the years.
2013 - Reports of "Monsters" similar to the original Orc, are being reported more and more. One attacks his school and confronts him just as he finished building the devices. After managing to injure the Monster using the bottle shaped device, he is able to activate the belt, transforming him into Kamen Rider Brewan. He seeks to reveal the origins of the nigh magical Orc Monsters and perhaps find a cure to the Orc Sickness
Character stuffProtag - People knew he was destined to do great things from a young age. He's always been an incredibly fast learner. He's a genius in most subjects, but after finding the mysterious blueprints (And especially after becoming Kamen Rider) He's become quite adept and Engineering, Chemistry, Biology and Inventing. Having has always been seen as weird and creepy, even at a very young age, this combined with the false rumor that those who survive Orc Sickness are contagious, causes his classmates to see him as eerie and unapproachable. While he tried extremely hard to seem more normal when he was young, when he entered Highschool he pretty much learned to accept his "Kowainess" as his few friends call it.
Kamen Rider Brewan - He doesn't act much less creepy when transformed, but people are much quicker to overlook this when you're saving their lives. When transformed he is surprisingly aggressive. Putting the special brews he creates by defeating and studying Orcs, called"Chemotions" into his weapon can cause magical effects on the enemy and environment, these can also be used to change forms by inserting them into the belt. Although he also seems to revel in fighting his enemies hand-to-hand, using attacks that in any other context would be underhanded. His way of combat often causes a lot of collateral damage, and while there hasn't been any civilian casualties or even injuries, lets just say you can definitely tell when Kamen Rider Brewan has been somewhere... He can change from calculating into wild and untamed on a whim. People around the school call him "Kamen Bancho"

waa @proceduralbob tagged me! thank youu
name: wednesday
pronouns: they/them
where do you call home?: without the right to roam, in a planet with boards and states and nationalities, this is kind of a faulty concept, people ask this sort of thing to judge your worth, sometimes i poke fun at people for like what state or city they live in but know its kind of in a post-ironic or whatever sort of way, i live online! but i suppose the geographical answer is the usa equating that with home feels gross, home feels personal and all encompassing, doesnt it?
favorite animal: im like, rabbit themed, so there's that of course i love so many animals i feel like i have a fave per genre of animals, im really into jellyfish , my fave owl is great horned, i also love flamingos and giraffes and bats and cockatoos
cereal of choice: i only eat cereal as intended like two months out of the entire year max, i like applejacks (with banana slices) and cocoa bunnies from the annie's brand (with strawberries) (cereal feels really naked without fruit on it!)
visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner: im pretty sure this is something that gets taught in schools in conservative states cause no one gives a fuck whether its junk science or not, i Prefer someone to show me how, then walk me through it and then ill do it a bunch with assistance until i get it, but thats often so taxing to be vulnerable with someone else and not everyone has the patience for me so maybe like visual/kinesthetic/auditory in that order maybe? maybe thats just self fanfiction
first pet: fish! like the first animal i was aware of like, the concept of a pet like we have a pet in the house were two box turtles but those were like, my parents pets, they did not take good care of them! the first pet i consciously was like i want to keep and take care of them were fishes
favorite scent: (oops i forgot to remove the previous answer and fill this in)i have a lot of scents i like but rn i think murphy's wood oil soap!
do you believe in astrology: i think there are three "categories" of astrology
there is the math; the history and the culture and the arts and how much it like is apart of human history like that's real and inseparable from understanding the world around us you cant be like well thats astronomy because its also people folk lore and mythology of their cultures and belief systems and that kind of math was not separate from each other, it was used and is used as aid to make complicated numbers more digestible, as a way to memorize and to pass along oral traditions, its also a form of a people's wealth, so thats real yes
then there's social/economics/psychology of it like time periods coincide with ups and downs of wealth in a place like historically and its also like how the seasons impact people, what food is available, what sicknesses are more easily transmittable during certain seasons, which impacts somewhat the way we interact with the world as early age roles are set in by family, society, so on, thats real
then there's my cringe fetus in the womb is an aries i can feel the energies, that shits fake, but that feeds back into like point two and this point isnt any different than the other awful ways parents can interact with their children about 'metaphysical' matters
so i suppose yes i do, like, in a social science and a traditional art sort of way
how many playlists do you have on your music service of choice: i have a lot i like to make playlists a lot, maybe ill share them with the internet more often
sharpies or highlighters: highlighters are cute! sharpies have more use though, highlighters might win simply for the cute factor
song that makes you cry: once the pokemon 2 movie starts its ON <-the tears, from the ost for some reason
song that makes you happy: i listen to a lot of vashti bunyan and haruomi hosono for that feeling, oh maybe im not answering these correctly, i know nobodies got me like still alive (portal 2007)
and finally, do you write/draw/create: i do all kinds of gay stuff

The Resurgence of CDs: the "forgotten format" remembered by me
I know what you're thinking. There is no rebirth of CDs, Isha.
The facts tell us that they have been dying a slow death since their peak in the 2000s, suffering a 97% drop in sales revenue back in 2020. It fails to be a viable commercial format due to performing terribly in sales' data, with only a 1.1% increase in the US during 2021. No one is buying CDs, and those who are, well they just don't matter in the grand scheme of things for a few reasons. There are various sources of media that say otherwise, yet Damon Krukowski boldly states that one of the reasons why journalists have been penning articles regarding "the resurgence of CDs" is because there is a sense of false consciousness attached: it is an attempt by the industry to substitute the interests of the rich for one's own; to distract music consumers from facing the deeper problems within music distribution, such as a supposed booming economy in the music industry despite there being a great income inequality. To which I say, true, but un(?)fortunately, our minds do not resort to that aspect of the resurgence of CDs immediately. I mean, really, when I came across a sticker-peeled, used copy of Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill in the snug CD section of my temporary hometown's Oxfam (I was in Bath during my second year of university), I was hardly thinking of the effects of CD sales in the music industry. What I was thinking about was the excitement I felt in the pit of my stomach to be eight years old again, sat on my bedroom floor, wanting to scream the lyrics to Ironic whilst dancing around my stereo. If there is a resurgence of CDs, it is thanks to my generation: Gen-Z.
Tumblr media
Perhaps one of Krukowski's faults is that he is building his conclusions based on CD sales from corporate stores, not independent stores that sell pre-owned copies. An hour ago, I was stood in a place named Record Collector in Sheffield, a whole store dedicated to collecting CDs along with artist memorabilia, such as tour posters and band autobiographies. There are also places such as Oxfam and Truck Store in Oxford where pre-owned copies of various CDs are sold at cheap prices ranging from 99p to £5. These stores are where the heart of CD-love lies. It's the accessibility with personal ownership that is comforting, along with the affordable pricing in contrast with vinyl prices. This reason for CD appreciation has always been evident, yet the introduction of MP3 files and the quick accessibility to downloads back in the 2000s is one of the murderers of the CD craze. Once there was a rise in MP3 players being sold, CD sales nearly halved between 2000 and 2007. Despite this, various artists and music fans remain defending CDs against MP3 players due to MP3 files becoming compressed when downloaded, affecting the audio quality of the song. With CDs, the audio is never compressed nor tweaked in any way. Yes, you could also just encode your MP3 files at a higher bit rate, but that leads me to my next favourite thing about CDs.
Tumblr media
THE CREATIVITY IS UNMATCHED. I have always been a visual learner of some sort, falling in love with aesthetics that are carefully crafted in front of me for my own enjoyment. It's why I adore films over books, possess a keen eye and attention to detail when it comes to their direction and fashion, and it is also why I love CDs in the way that I do. I mean, I have a whole Instagram page dedicated to the craftsmanship that artists have demonstrated through their CDs. I own a growing collection, ranging from artists like Hole and Radiohead, along with Avril Lavigne and Alanis Morissette. All CDs I own are bought based on two things: how much I love the music and how much I adore the artwork. This creativity that artists can build on introduces a realm of sentimentality for when a music consumer witnesses time taken to produce a delicate work of art, where thorough thought has been given to which photos will be used for the cover - what colour scheme we are aiming for in terms of the album's aesthetic - which font should be used for the title and should it be the same for the lyrical pages in the booklet? - these are intricate details that an artist recognises and appreciates, no matter what. With so much love and care given to a piece of work that you have crafted, not always alone but with a team, you can't help but feel a sense of inspiration along with appreciation for the beauty of it all - allowing you to feel a strong connection with the artist. With that, no other music format could even compare to the liberation of creativity that CDs possess.
Tumblr media
If there's anything you're going to take from me and my ranting, please let it be this: close your eyes, think of an album, or a song, or an artist that you can't help but feel a strong connection to, and buy one of their CDs. Go through the cover booklet, consume and appreciate each framing of text on each page - ask yourself why they chose to use that font or that colour - have the music playing at the same time and read through each page that consists of their lyrics... Let yourself be completely enamoured by the artist's choices of creativity and build your critical thinking in terms of what could be going on inside their minds.
You'll find yourself tapping into a whole new aspect of consuming music, especially in terms of appreciating visual individuality and the liberation that comes with it. All these feelings... thank you, CDs.
