It really says something about your character when you're 24 and telling me to kill myself because I corrected you on something provably false in a horror movie franchise.

had the most insane dream about how Saw XI would go and it was so spectacularly bad that it reminded me of reading SNK's last chapter 😭
there was one cool part, but it was made pointless a couple minutes later
#saw#EDIT: apparently Saw XI has now been announced???#bruh i had a prophetic dream#anyway there were so many components to this dream that even if I had written it down right after I woke up-#- I still wouldn't be able to convey it properly lmao#but uhh let's just say i knew i was in a theater watching this with a bunch of other people#but it was still as if we were all like- 'in' the movie watching everything take place??#anyway it all happened in a cathedral and a lot of previously dead characters were now alive (namely: adam)#and john was like the preacher or something but he acted less like himself and more like one of those crazy street preachers#and idk it's hard to explain but looooots of people were there and most of them seemed pretty into it#there were a whole lot of weird comedic lines and immature humour in there too (again: SNK 139 war flashbacks)#i even think there was some slapstick in there?? lmao#*insert weird-ass details I no longer remember*#and tHEN a big-ass fight/battle royale type thing happened near the end for some reason#(and yeah this whole 'movie' took place inside the cathedral. all goffik n shit)#there were also some characters/people there that looked so out of place they clearly had nothing to do with the Saw-franchise too#okay and here's the start of the ONE cool part:#so once again it seems that fate has pitted adam and lawrence against each other#eventually everyone else seem to have killed each other so adam and larry are the only ones left in a sea of bodies pm#lawrence is more unhinged this time and he doesn't seem to have a problem with needing to kill adam this time around#kinda like a 'welp. it's either you or me'-attitude#so he has a saw he's gonna like- cut off adam's arm with so it'll kill him i guess? but adam manages to keep a level head for a long enough#-time to apparently convince lawrence not to kill him but L still tries to attack him i think?#but adam says smth about how if they just let a gun go off inside- someone will hear the gunshot and call the police so they can be saved#however while they were struggling- the saw cut into lawrence's own arm instead so it's making him lose blood but it also makes him more-#-lucid again. his arm's pm detached from his body now tho and as he dies he smiles as he says that adam was right:-#-they COULD'VE just shot the gun into the ceiling or smth and help would've arrived. and then lawrence dies#adam IS sad about it but still pretty stoic#THEN idek but a portal?? opens up? bc now adam's the last one left so that means he gets to leave ig#and it's kinda like a portal made of water? he drags lawrence's body with him and as they swim/float down he gently drags L along with him

Mind if I ask if there was anything that led you to cast the characters as the specific animals you did for the Saw zodiac piece?? Like I KNOW you had to work with the animals within the Chinese zodiac, but...why the goat for Kramer, the monkey for Amanda, and so forth??? Was it based on birthdays or character traits, or something like that??
I really like that piece and I want to give u a platform to talk about it more lmao
Like you said, my choices were limited to the animals within the zodiac. It was a fun little challenge mixing and matching each animal to a character that I felt suited them (personality-wise in some cases, appearance-wise in others.) More under the cut, for those interested.
Amanda (Monkey) - Jumps between mischievously playful and sadistically cruel. In possession of ten clever little fingers, perfect for rigging traps…
John (Goat) - Stubborn + stoutly adheres to his beliefs. Sporting a pair of curving horns that play into the spiral motif very nicely. Enjoys playing God and doling out punishment, much like a certain other horn-ed fellow who spends his days disciplining ‘sinners’.
Jill (Sow) - Seemed like an easy choice considering the Tuck family’s pig farm. I also wanted to call back to Gideon and what could have been.
Hoffman (Tiger) - Large, imposing and solitary. (Almost) always one step ahead. Tigers having illusory eyes on the backs of their ears to throw off stalking predators feels extremely Hoffman to me. Getting the jump on him is nearly impossible. Nearly.
Strahm (Dog) - Not just any dog, a GSD. Sharp as a whip, wary as a watchman. Commonly used by law enforcement. Loyal to those he considers friends, aloof and standoffish to just about everybody else...
Cecilia (Dragon) - Much like a dragon, Cecilia would be right at home curled atop a mountain of treasure. Even what she promises / advertises seems mythical - the kind of miracle that only exists within a fantasy...
Logan (Ox) - ‘It’s cause you’re always in that damn BARN.’ A farm animal through and through. He's John’s heir apparent, a faint outline of him, complete with a similarly horned silhouette.
Lawrence (Rabbit) - Larry was one of the ‘lucky’ ones, and what's more lucky than a rabbit's foot? ( Do you think he carries his severed foot around on his keys in this AU ? )
Adam (Rat) - I mean…
Schenk (Snake) - People will probably assume that I picked a snake because he’s ‘deceitful’ (I actually think his rage was justified. ACAB.) but I actually just wanted to incorporate spirals onto him in an organic way. Snakes, with their intricate scale patterns, allowed me to do just that.
Who’s left? Zep Hindle screams 'chicken' to me and Lynn has beautiful flowing hair that lends itself perfectly to a horsey.

Amanda : The sweet but addicted Amanda is punished by life and resurrected by Jigsaw to start a new life. But this is easier said than done since she tasted the metal and the blood, something has broken inside her and has come together in the form of emotionality and emotional outbursts, all under the cover of fear that she will not be able to live up to John or be left alone by him. Which is why, especially after Mexico and the first game, she seemed all the more nervous, but her partner was there to help her. Whether it was just words of praise or reassurance when the black-haired girl was too nervous. A hand on her shoulder or on her, ,,Just breathe it will be fine" she heard the voice of her lover when she felt her emotions boiling over. A hug behind closed doors and the encouraging gestures. A small snack or just a look was enough to tell her that everything would be alright. They are small things but they help her immensely.

John : Jigsaw himself, as strong and effective as his actions are, is vulnerable when reduced to a human being. An elderly man who has terminal cancer and is dying of it. gets robbed of life for changing other people. And yet. But he had his favorite. His partner who helped him with everything Amanda couldn't help with. Sitting together on the couch in his house in the evenings, one hand resting on his in his lap. Showering him with stories of better times and telling him how good he was. That everything was going to be fine, making him warm tea and getting his medication ready. Maybe even try to force him to sleep and continue the drawings. Do everything so that he didn't overexert himself, he had suffered enough. ,,Don't worry John, we'll manage...your work will go on until the end" he heard the words and a small smile came to his lips as he looked at the person with love.

Mark : The policeman, scarred by the life of the bear trap and the death of his sister, had lost everything for a time in his life. Alcohol was his best and only friend until he met not only John but also his lover. The thoughts of the darkness that surrounded him were not only tinged with brutality and a slight arrogance, but also with devotion. He loved the little gestures you did for him. A coffee in the evening, a little note, a hug when he came home and a cuddle when his mornings were hard. ,,My strong policeman... you are everything Mark, understand? I will always help you," said his favorite and hugged the older one. The older one replied that he was glad to have someone still worth loving but for everything that had happened he was grateful to have his partner. Someone he could kiss, someone who was there for him, someone he could trust after everything that had happened.

Lawrence: The divorce from his wife, the loss of his daughter, the death of his friend Adams and the loss of his mentor and his failure with Jill. It was a time when he needed help, help to deal with his body and the loss of his leg. But it was also a time when he met his angel, his partner who not only helped him cope with his prosthesis but also with the process of his daughter. The nights were usually longer and he was afraid that the plans would not turn out right. But when he felt the reassuring hand of his darling on his shoulder, smelled coffee and felt a warm blanket around him. ,,Don't get cold, sweetie... go to sleep, I'll stay with you okay," he heard the voice and smiled slightly. They were small cares and yet they were gestures that showed him that nothing was in vain. He still had hope and love by his side.

Having a lot of thoughts about this line. Do you. Do you think John left Adam to die because he killed Zep? (rant [?] below the cut)
He despises murderers after all, and we know the concept of murder is sort of “any killing that isn’t by his design” in his mind. Zep wasn’t going to kill Adam, and in John’s mind Lawrence deserved to die because he failed, so Adam also interfered with his plans.
Like he admits Adam is a pawn here, just a part of the game rather than a player— also literally admits that Adam is innocent by saying he ‘did what Lawrence couldn’t’ in murdering an innocent man, but whatever— similar to the guy Amanda had to kill. I can’t imagine he would’ve just left that guy there had Amanda failed. So wtf did Adam do?
Like, John couldn’t have actually expected a half-drowned man to catch a key he didn’t know existed before it went down the drain, he’s been shown to be good at predicting human behavior. So either his plan was to let Adam go under the right circumstances, or it was rigged and Adam was never supposed to get out, which is a whole different set of questions.

OBVIOUSLY i care abt chainshipping deeply and i believe something quite lgbt happened to those men in that bathroom. BUT if im being so honest, if i put down my gay delusion for a moment, i think that Lawrence would do absolutely everything in his power to get Alison back before he would ever let himself think about Adam in anyway even remotely romantic.
and like the keyword here is 'let' right, like those thoughts would for sure creep in, but i think he would ignore them as best he could at first. i mean he's married, and not only is he married, but he just spent hours trapped in a bathroom thinking about how much he does actually love his wife and how much he took her for granted. thats why he cut off his leg so that he could try to save her and his daughter. on top of that, if he was committed enough to decide not to go through with cheating on her BEFORE the bathroom trap, why on earth would he just let her go afterwards.
i do think that Alison left him after everything. i think that even before Lawrence gets all weird and creepy (said affectionately) from working with Jigsaw, that she would leave him. she clearly wasnt happy before any of this happened, and when she and Diana needed him the most he failed to protect them.
but i dont for a second think that Lawrence just accepts that. i think he would try, and fail, to convince Alison to stay and that he loves her and that he's sorry. he would have to sit with that failure and with that structural loss to his life for a while before he would let Adam in.

Last Light
Warnings: canon typical violence, heavy angst, hurt no comfort, you guys will be mad at me
a/n: I was thinking about when Leigh mentioned in the saw commentary that someone wrote a monologue from Lawrence's point of view after leaving the bathroom and I wanted to write one for Adam
"I'm a liar?"
"I wouldn't lie to you."
Liar, lies. Seems like either way, Adam is getting screwed over.
He sits in the dark, dingy bathroom, his eyes still struggling to adjust. His throat is raw and aching from all the screaming and crying. Not even the hardest sex could have done that to him.
God, he's really gonna die having fucked one person.
All of his relationships were mediocre, even the platonic ones. Scott treated him like shit, the guy probably hasn't even noticed that he's gone.
Has anyone?
Lawrence is someone that would be noticed, he's got a wife and kids for fucks sake.
"I've got a family too, Lawrence! I don't talk to them anymore, that's my mistake. A mistake I'd like to fix."
One of the last things he remembers at the apartment is scribbling "Call mom?" On a crumpled post it and sticking it to the wall. The paper has probably fallen down by now. Forgotten.
Are his parents even looking for him?
Probably not. They probably haven't noticed either.
Everything that Adam does ends up screwing him in the end, just like this. But he can't really blame anyone but himself, can he? Not even $200 was worth being stuck in this bathroom. Doesn't even soften the fact that he'll probably be here forever.
The money was meant to go for his food. Not a camera, not developing fluid, not even that shiny new pokemon game Adam wanted. Food.
A necessity he barely even had.
"Why? Call it my need to eat."
He remembers snapping at Lawrence like it was the most obvious answer. But food is a luxury even Adam can't afford. The guy lives off of ramen noodles and sodas from the gas station. Sometimes he even wonders why he never gained any weight since he ate such shit.
His mom was never the greatest cook, but he'd take soggy meatloaf and unseasoned mashed potatoes any day.
At the thought, Adam's stomach rumbles. His guts ache from hunger, but he's not a stranger to it. That's usually how his day goes.
He can't even blame Jigsaw for trapping him here. But in all honesty, Adam has done so much self sabotaging, that he's probably done worse to himself than the man that left him here.
He's felt worse betrayal than when the dead man stood up, peeled the fake skin off his skull and left him here.
"Game over!"
Dead man. Adam squints in the darkness, trying to make out Zep's corpse. He's not even sure why. The first time he saw a dead body, or what he thought was one, he puked his guts out into the tub. Couldn't even keep down his latest meal.
He'll probably starve even quicker now.
The room smells like blood, and his fingers are sticky from the same substance. Not only is he a voyeur, he's a killer. Maybe his last girlfriend was right: he's too angry.
Adam isn't very good at anatomy, at least the human side of it. But he knows he broke through layers of skin and bone when he'd crushed through the hospital orderly's skull.
"It's the rules!"
Knowing now, he feels guilty. Awful, even. Guy probably had a family too, even if he was a bit of a creep. Where do you draw the line of deserving a family? What's so bad that you no longer are worthy of someone related by blood? Adam's probably the worst person to ask that.
He'd stormed out on his parents after a petty argument, an excuse to leave. One that he'd been wanting to have since he was seventeen. Somehow, he'd convinced himself that they wouldn't accept him, even if they let him drop out of high school and didn't even call the cops when he left. But was that tolerance or pure disinterest?
Maybe he's not a total waste of time, since his mom had called not long before he got his power knocked out the same way he was.
"Adam, your father's not angry anymore."
Lawrence had a home, a family. A good one, too. The pictures he saw of Diana and Alison made him crack a smile. At least before the one with them tied up. He shivers, probably both from disgust and blood loss.
His shoulder aches, oozing blood all over his shitty thrift store clothes. Adam understands why Doctor Gordon left. He has some place to go, people to welcome him home with open arms. Most places Adam went, he wasn't even noticed.
He kicks with his right foot in anger, the chain rattling as he does. The metal bites into his skin and the amount of pain he's in is just frustrating at this point. Adam screams, but his voice is raw and broken.
As much as he hopes the doctor will come back for him, at least he has half the brain to know that Lawrence probably won't make it. The man that he's had the first physical touch from in months is probably bleeding out in the sewers, and there's nothing he can do about it.
He doesn't even have a choice to cut off his foot like the doctor did. Sure, the blood loss will probably kill him, but Adam is sick of waiting around for something to happen. A job to drop, a phone call.
But he can't even do that.
The hacksaw he found in the toilet had snapped in half. A result of his ever consuming anger. Seems like everything he does leads back to that.
"I see a strange mix of someone who's angry, yet apathetic. But mostly just pathetic."
If Adam isn't angry at the world, he's angry with himself. He feels like a waste of space on the good days and a tumor on the face of the earth on the bad ones. At least with photography he felt like he had a purpose, even if it was supplying creeps and weirdos with material. He wasn't really helping anyone, was he? Even Tapp ended up dead.
But Lawrence helps people. Even if he thought the guy was initially a jerk, Adam admires him. Misses the man's blood stained hands as he cupped his cheeks.
"I wanted to be a vet."
That way, he'd benefit the world somehow. Even if he was pulling tennis balls out of dogs' throats or cleaning up puke every day. He'd much rather smell vomit, as he's getting quite sick of the coppery scent of blood.
"That's nonsense. I've seen kids with brain cancer graduate high school from a hospital bed."
"They got further than I ever did."
Adam has been pretty able bodied his whole life. While he'd consider it a nuisance that his body doesn't match up with his own view of himself, that's not a disability.
Maybe his parents wouldn't even mind, maybe they'd help him with the cost of surgery and injections. But he hadn't even told them. His parents barely know who he is. Adam barely knows himself.
"What do voyeurs see when they look in the mirror?"
Nothing. The answer is nothing.
He's like a leech, sucking the energy and luck out of everyone around him.
Now he's left to sit in his own grave- metaphorically and literally. He probably won't even have the luxury of being buried or cremated.
Hopefully someone will come around and put him out of his misery. Like a calf with two heads or a dog with rabies.
But until then, he's left to wait.

Did you know that Leigh Whannell has written and is directing a new movie called Wolf Man (2025)? With a protagonist whose name is Lawrence who "while returning to his hometown, is afflicted by an ancient curse after being bitten by a werewolf."
Well, if you're a fan of the Saw franchise and a Chainshipper, you're in for a real treat. For this is the long-awaited spin-off of the Saw franchise, picking up where Saw VII left off, telling the tale of what happened to Dr. Lawrence Gordon after he locked Detective Mark Hoffman into the same bathroom Lawrence previously shared with photographer Adam Faulkner-Stanheight in the first Saw film. What we didn't see in Saw VII, is that Lawrence took Adam's skeleton with him to finally bury his remains and hopefully bring peace both to himself and Adam, too.
But when Lawrence returns to his hometown, it becomes clear that there are supernatural forces in the work there. Lawrence himself is bitten by a werewolf, and the bones of Adam he buried? Turns out the ground he buried them in wasn't ready to accept them. And so, one day when Lawrence is taking a stroll in the park, someone with a camera bumps into him. And lo and behold, if it isn't the man who has been dead for years. Or who is at least supposed to be dead.
Turns out, dying and getting back to life takes its toll, so Adam doesn't remember Lawrence, their game, or much of anything of his life before really. What a perfect setting for starting over with a clean slate, right?
If only Lawrence didn't turn into a bloodthirsty monster every full moon, with the ancient curse's only cure being the kiss of a true love. But who would love a crippled, old doctor with a detestable past of being the apprentice and accomplice of a heinous serial killer, now with added lycantrophy? The answer may be closer than you think...

oooo imagine an angst arc where adam is saved by john (or amanda or even hoffman for whatever reason “he’s just a kid”) while lawrence is still recovering. eventually adam makes an (almost) complete recovery and starts being an apprentice with amanda and hoffman
but everyone is strictly forbidden from telling lawrence adam’s alive. john won’t allow it as punishment for breaking the rules of the game. adam was supposed to die. lawrence was supposed to kill him. he had multiple chances to. lawrence had the will to live, john saw that, so john let him live, but he still broke the rules.
they dont tell adam lawrence is alive, either. they would be inseparable. they tell him lawrence got out and left. adam never sees him again.
so for the rest of his life adam is furious with thoughts of lawrence. lawrence abandoned him. gripped him, told him he would bring help, told him he wouldnt lie, then left. who, after cutting off his foot, went directly to adam instead of the door. who held him and nodded against his head when he could barely talk. left him for dead in the bathroom.
and for the rest of his life lawrence is overcome with grief of thoughts of adam. the kid who just happened to ok with the shit life he had. who was just trying to make a living. who became terrified the instant lawrence didnt wake up right away. whose saw was broke and who beat a man to death. who instantly stopped and whimpered the moment lawrence got to him. who screamed his lungs out as the door closed, never to be heard or seen alive again

warnings: wounds & hallucinations.
(“Don't leave me,” He hears himself plead, and knows that he sounds pathetic. He doesn't want Lawrence to go. Lawrence goes anyway.)

Adam barely feels it when the bullet hits his shoulder. He barely feels the ceramic in his hands as he lifts it and slams it down, over and over, until the man beneath him is borderline unrecognisable, until he himself is unrecognisable.
He knows that he's screaming, sobbing, and there's hands on him. The ceramic is pried from his grasp, flaked with sticky blood, and then the hands are on him, soothing him, holding him. He brings a trembling hand to his shoulder and wails, loud and unrestrained, yet still barely registers the pain.
Instead, he hyper focuses on the touch on his face, Lawrence's fingers gently stroking his cheek. He leans into the touch because it's the kindest touch he's received in years, because there's a numbness spreading throughout him and the touch keeps him warm, inside and out. He leans into it because he's missed being touched like this, missed being touched like he's a person.
Christ, he's missed feeling like a person.
His eyelids flutter. He cries out.
Lawrence is speaking to him. He hears the words, and is overtaken with a full body desperation, hitting him worse than anything he's ever felt. He wants to live. He doesn't want to die here.
“Don't leave me,” He hears himself plead, and knows that he sounds pathetic. He doesn't want Lawrence to go. Lawrence goes anyway.
Watching the doctor crawl out into the hallway causes a stronger pain to creep into him than his wound does. He wants to fucking live. He sobs and lifts his hand once more to jab at his fresh wound, and finally feels a spike of pain travel throughout his arm, his back, his chest, his whole body, jolting him.
It takes a while for all hope to leave him. He hasn't eaten, hasn't drank, hasn't slept other than his fits of unconsciousness in days. He thinks that maybe, in the midst of all of this, he's had a seizure. His stomach feels empty in a way that shakes him to his core, has him trembling and grasping at the dirty tile as if it will ground him, though moving his arm just makes his shoulder ache horribly.
At least Lawrence is with him.
Lawrence tells him that he's sorry that he couldn't come back, and tells him that he's sorry for giving Adam hope. He tells Adam that if he had the chance he would kiss all of his fears away and never leave him alone ever again.
He's chained up, though, still. Adam remembers Lawrence severing his foot, but surely not—he's right there, across the room from him, watching him closely like a hawk. It takes him an embarrassing amount of time to realise that it's not really Lawrence.
At least it brings him a small amount of comfort. Another few days pass, and Lawrence has left him again.
It's okay, though. He realises, one day, that he's woken up and he can't breathe. There's something covering his face and he can't breathe. It's okay. He'll be safe soon.
