Slumber of October
A score of tiny pellets
Slowly melted on the ridges
Of taste buds not so old,
And flowed down seamlessly
Along a throat choked with pain,
While the fatigued body sat
Along the edge of the cliff,
A few miles away from Kasauli,
Watching the sunset again,
The body slowly crumbled
So sleepy and so calm,
He had last felt that peace,
Years and years ago,
The last glow of the golden Sun
Cuddled with him
In his deepest slumber,
And the chilly gusts of wind
Wiped away his blemishes,
While the folded yellow chit
Freezed breathlessly
In the coldness of his hands,
Colder than the chill of October.

Terminal Illness
Dealing with a loved one with a terminal illness means you're left with a lot of feelings around end of life. Knowing it is an end of stage disease that is not curable, is for many, a hard pill to swallow.
Dealing with a loved one's terminal illness
But no matter how hard you try to work through the situation, no matter how hard you try to keep everything together, a terminal illness brings with it mixed emotions that aren’t easy to adjust to or work through. The good and the bad, everything is packed into those moments, when you’re having to get to grips with that situation.
How we anticipate, how we watch and deal with a loved one's challenges, is the difference between powering through and emotionally struggling through. It helps to understand the process, what happens to our loved ones when they leave us and what happens when they transition to 'spirit.' Then there are new pressures for us, of adjusting to a life without that person. New pressures that will ask for and demand new ways from each of us.
My new single life
As I type this, I continue to struggle with the fact that my life as a twin will change and for me, it will be the first time, I will have to navigate a life moving forward without my twin. We all have to get through grief, we may struggle to comprehend and grapple with our thoughts, and our feelings. Life with your loved one, everything you experience together, goes into those final moments.
Our loved ones also have to work on themselves 'spirit side'
But it's not just something we have to do earth side. When anyone transitions to spirit, they also have to work through their life, their relationship with us 'spirit side' all their deeds, what they did, versus what they didn't do, or could have done better. Their 'life' will be played out.
What is helpful, is to let anyone, dealing with a parent, sibling, or twin, with a terminal illness in a way that allows them to cope and come to terms with their impending loss.

As I Write This Post, I Really Miss My Baby Boy...
This... is Sylvester Wayne Saunders, my cat. He passed away early last year after a long battle with bladder cancer. My new header photo on here is this picture I took of me kissing his head on his last night on earth: February 15th, 2017. The following morning, he was humanely euthanized at his doctor’s office with my parents and I in attendance. This was while he laid in my arms, peacefully passing from this life, into eternity with the ones gone before... Once the doctor confirmed he had left, I said “Okay.” Then I burst into tears as I said, “We can fall apart now.”
Sometimes when Sylvester saw me cry as I was growing up, he’d approach with a meow and curious look, even a head rub, as if he were trying to comfort me... So in his last moments on earth, it was my turn. I pet him, whispered to him, and absolutely forced myself to hold myself together until he passed from this life to the next. Then I let myself collapse under the weight of my grief... and cried. I wasn’t going to let Sylvester know I was so deeply hurting, because in that moment, he was no longer able to comfort me like he used to.
I promised Sylvester towards the end of his fight with the cancer that I would not leave him during his last moments, if I were at all able to be there. He may not have understood what I said, but he certainly didn’t complain.
Animals are special to many of us. I absolutely assure you that there is a very special place for them with us in heaven. If you are a believer of heaven and have doubts that animals on earth will be there, I’d recommend you look for the book I Will See You In Heaven by Jack Wintz. This small, but thoughtful book was a great comfort to me after Sylvester passed.
