Alternate Next Gen (Main Cast): Cameron Citron

Cameron is the son of Clemont and Korrina. Cameron really likes Electric-type Pokemon and is currently gym leader, much like his father, Cameron likes to invent things but he’s more energetic and has more battling than he does inventing, thus making him better suited for the Lumiose city gym. While Cameron looks a lot like his father, he acts more like his mother, being friendly and hyperactive like his mother. Similar to his mom, he rollerskates or skateboard where ever he goes, finding both to be very enjoyable. Cameron doesn’t like to sit around, to keep moving which is one reason why he doesn’t invent things like Clemont, but he does help out when Clemont needs an extra hand with his inventions when he doesn’t have challengers to battle or if he isn’t training with his Pokemon. Cameron takes note of other gym leaders when they’re battling, as well as other trainers and will always find a way to counter whatever they may have for fighting his team of Pokemon. While Cameron is an Electric-type gym leader, he has some Pokemon that aren’t Electric-types that he uses, they allow it so long as those Pokemon have an Electric-type move and that he can still provide a challenge for his challengers. While he is friendly and hyperactive, when it comes to a battle he’s very serious and will not hesitate to go all out. Cameron is also very modest about himself, should anyone compliment him for how good of a gym leader he is, he’ll just blush and say that he wasn’t that good. He can be a little reckless at times but those don’t come up often, much to the relief of Clemont and Korrina. He gets along with his younger cousin Verna but he does get embarrassed by her trying to find him a girlfriend, much to Clemont’s and Bonnie’s amusement as it reminds them of when they were younger.

Cameron has a key stone fitted onto the right side of his glasses.

His Pokemon:

Ampharos- Ampharos was Cameron’s starter Pokemon back when she was a Mareep. As a Mareep, she would stick around Cameron and while she didn’t enjoy battling, she would still train with Cameron as well as keep him warm on cold nights by laying next to him. When she evolved into Flaaffy, she started taking her training more seriously up until her final evolution as an Ampharos. Now as an Ampharos, she’s fully okay with battling for her trainer so long as she can help him defend his badges. Ampharos was given her Ampharosite after evolving and became able to Mega Evolve and after a lot of training with Cameron, she had gotten used to mega evolving and will only Mega Evolve to give the challenegers a challenge so long as they have a strong team. Ampharos is very well behaved and mild, she also has a motherly side and will often watch over Cameron’s younger cousin Verna when Cameron is busy, much to Verna’s delight. When in battle, she’s very calm and will always battle at her best but she also knows that she’s a lot stronger than Cameron’s other Pokemon and knows that she’s reserved for trainers that have seven badges and she doesn’t mind not being in a battle, preferring to train until someone challenges the gym with seven badges. She’s seen outside of her Pokeball.

Caught in a Pokeball.

Ability is Static, changes to Mold Breaker when mega evolved.

Held Item is Ampharosite.

Moves are Thunderbolt, Cotton Spore, Electro Ball, Power Gem, Signal Beam, Dragon Pulse, Charge Beam, Electric Terrain, Discharge and Swift.

Jolteon- Jolteon was caught as an Eevee and after getting a Thunderstone at a shop, Carmeron had evolved Eevee into a Jolteon. Jolteon is very eager to battle and run around, he also has a lot of mood swings which made him difficult to train at first but Cameron found a way to get him to calm down and easier to train, which was giving him treats during training once he noticed how much Jolteon liked to eat. Jolteon is very fickle when it comes to being around anyone else and will often growl and sharpen the needles on his body to get someone to back off from him, he doesn’t do it to Cameron’s family as he trusts and likes them. Jolteon loves a good battle and is always happy to get into a battle with someone almost as strong as him or stronger than him, he’s also very proud of his speed and loves to use his speed to his advantage during a battle. He also loves being in the rain, even when he was an Eevee, no one could figure out why he enjoyed the rain so much but Cameron had him learn Rain Dance so he could use the rain to his advantage during a battle. Jolteon is mostly used for a challenger with six badges.

Caught in a Fast Ball.

Ability is Volt Absorb.

Moves are Rain Dance, Thunder, Thunder Fang, Weather Ball, Agility, Electro Ball, Double Team, Quick Attack, Double-Edge and Swift.

Shiny Manectric- Manectric was found in the Friend Safari, Cameron was surprised to see him as a shiny Pokemon and had caught him right then and there. Manectric didn’t mind getting caught, instead he was very happy to be caught by someone who has other Electric-type Pokemon for him to bond with. Manectric may look very serious when in actuality he’s very playful and acts like a puppy to Cameron and his family. He makes a switch during battle, going from a happy puppy to a protective Pokemon who will gladly take down anyone who tries to take over the gym. In Manectric’s mind, he sees gym challengers as people trying to take over his trainers gym and will always battle to protect the gym from challengers, not knowing that they’re only after the gym badge not the gym itself, the other Pokemon don’t correct him as they find what he thinks is going on to be kind of cute. Manectric is mostly used for a challenger with six badges.

Caught in a Quick Ball.

Ability is Lightning Rod.

Moves are Electro Ball, Electric Terrain, Roar, Scary Face, Thunder Fang, Ice Fang, Fire Fang, Thunderbolt, Rising Voltage and Spark.

Galvantula- Galvantula was caught by Cameron when he was a Joltik. Joltik always hated being the smallest team member, as such he started to train extra hard so he could evolve. His hard work paid off and he ended up evolving into a Galvantula, much to excitement and pride. Despite his looks, Galvantula is a gentle Pokemon who won’t attack anyone unless someone provkes him or if he’s sent out to battle, he doesn’t mind battling and finds it to be enjoyable. He takes great pride in his webbing and has no issue using them during battle or using in every day life so long as his trainer tells him it’s okay or appropriate to use them for whatever situation. He also enjoys resting by his trainer’s side when he isn’t battling or in his Net Ball, he also just enjoys resting when he’s with his teammates and the other Pokemon in the gym. Galvantula is mostly used for a challenger with six badges.

Caught in a Net Ball.

Ability is Compoundeyes.

Moves are Sticky Web, Electroweb, Electro Ball, Bug Buzz, Skitter Smack, Lunge, X-Scissor, Thunderbolt, Discharge and Leech Life.

Porygon2- Porygon2 was transferred to Cameron by a lab who thought that Cameron would be a good trainer for him. Porygon2 is a curious Pokemon who doesn’t do much aside from exploring his area and taking note of everything. While he was unsure about battling, he would still watch a gym battle take place for the sake of learning about it and getting used to it. Once he had understood how battling worked, he let himself be taken into training and put through the badge exam so he could be evaluated for how many badges a trainer has so he could battle against them. Porygon2 was still very nervous about his first battle but he was very happy when he was able to win against another Pokemon, he then became more open and confident about being a gym Pokemon and started enjoying Pokemon battles more than he thought he would, much to Cameron’s relief. Porygon2 prefers to be referred to as male and he’s allowed to battle challengers with four badges.

Ability is Trace.

Moves are Zap Cannon, Lock-On, Conversion, Conversion2, Tri Attack, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Recover, Hyper Beam and Double-Edge.

Who does Korrina end up with after her divorce with Clemont?

I’ve honestly never considered Korrina getting together with anyone seriously/long term after her divorce with Clement. It’s possible, but given the reasons behind their divorce, she’d run the risk of neglecting her spouse a second time. Plus, she honestly prefers the more open lifestyle of not being “tied-down” to a family.

While Clement isn’t blameless in the divorce (he was the one to have an affair, afterall), a major reason their relationship started to deteriorate was because Korrina spent so much time away from home for work. When she wasn’t performing her duties as a member of the Elite Four, she was training to keep herself sharp for the position. If wasn’t uncommon for her to spend weeks away from home. Even when she did return home, her visits were usually short and infrequent. Clemont didn't help matters by refusing to talk to her about it. He'd sort of bring it up, mention that it'd be nice if she was around more often, but he was never able to work up the resolve to reveal just how hurt and neglected he felt. Because he was never able to voice this, Korrina honestly thinks things are going better than they are. While she can tell they're growing distant, she assumes it's just how their relationship dynamic is going to be. They still get along when they're together, but it does become a sort of out of sight, out of mind thing after years of this.

Their relationship was so non existent by the end of things, Korrina honestly wasn’t even that surprised that Clemont had had an affair (well, she was surprised the reserved Clemont worked up the resolve to have an affair, but not surprised their relationship had reached that breaking point). She wasn’t happy about it and certainly felt betrayed, but in her heart, she knew they probabaly should have split already. Neither were willing to take that next step though, they remained in status quo, until the situation could no longer be ignored. She still keeps in contact with Colleen, but overall her and Clement have a stained relationship afterwards, really only interacting for Colleen’s sack.

After the divorce, Korrina goes back to what she was doing before, training and working as a member of the Elite Four. Maybe she sees people on occasion, but I honestly never saw her as getting married again. She likes the open lifestyle and would be hesitant to get married again, considering how it ended last time. If she did find a long term partner, I don't think they'd marry.

25 "I could kiss you" for Clemont and Korrina. Maybe Clemont did something amazing for Korrina like making her rocket roller skates or something.

“Easy…just slide into them, Lucario, there you go…now, pad him up,” Clemont directed. Korrina moved in to strap knee pads, elbow pads, and a helmet onto her Lucario.

“Alright,” Clemont gulped, “the moment of truth…” he hit a large red button on his control panel. The rockets in Lucario’s skates activated, and the Aura Pokemon was thrust forward. He seemed taken aback at first, but he leaned into the momentum, and soon enough he had taken control. With long strides he pushed himself around the Gym’s arena, the rockets giving him enough of a boost to manage great arching leaps off of the ramps Korrina had set up earlier.

Clemont heaved a sigh of relief and turned to Lucario’s mistress. “Well, what do you think?”

“What do I think?” Korrina gave him a sock on the arm. “I could kiss you right now!”

Headcanons about Colleen?

- Colleen isn’t actually apathetic, but she tends to come across that way. She’s not overly emotional and approaches things from a more logical/pragmatic angle. You can get a smile or a frown out of her depending whether she likes or dislikes something, but don’t expect any loud reactions out of her for the most part.

- She not a very talkative person as a result of this and tends to be quiet in most social settings. She doesn’t mind being around other people, but is generally happier listening and watching then engaging in conversation herself. Although get her started on something related to machinery and you’ll find she’s much more willing to talk then.

- She’s a fashion disaster and is very negligent with her appearance. Growing up, it was Bonnie who made sure she looked presentable and picked out her clothes. While she’s traveling, Trish is the one who takes over this role once she realizes Colleen isn’t dressing badly just to irratate her, this girl just literally couldn’t care less what she wears. And since there’s no way Trish is going to be seen with someone wearing clashing colors and patterns, she ends up picking out her outfit a lot of the time (or at least telling her to change if she turns up wearing something Trish disapproves of). Trish doesn’t care if Colleen looks frumpy and plain, but she at least needs to color-coordinate.

- Her glasses have a lot of random enhancements she’s constantly adding to, although the most useful features are a zoom lens (which is useful for inventing when she needs to see wiring and such close up) as well as an infrared vision setting. The different knobs and buttons to activate these settings run along the side of her glasses.

- Colleen’s interests when it comes to inventing focus mainly on useful tools and small niknacks powered by electricity. Eventually, her interests broaden from traveling and being exposed to different types of machinery, but she still prefers useful little gadgets above all else. She does end up becoming interested in prosthetics and starts trying to figure out how to build and modify them herself after Oralie loses her left arm and leg.

- Related to this, she ends up modifying Oralie’s prosthetics whenever their groups travel together, but she tends to add enhancements without telling her about it first. So sometimes she is just fixing the balance or replacing parts that are getting a bit worn, but other times she’ll add features like “rocket fist” or a switch that snaps the parts around to turn Oralie’s arm into a mace. Oralie tends to be horrified whenever this happens and has her change it back to normal right away, which Colleen grumbles about since what’s the point of having a robot arm and leg if it doesn’t do cool things.

- As far as family life, Korrina has a pretty minimal presence in her life. When she was little, Korrina was around much more often, but over the years, she spent more and more time away, either training or preforming her duties as a member of the Elite 4. Colleen isn’t overly bothered by this, although she is aware it hurts Clemont as his and Korrina’s relationship becomes more and more strained.

- During some of the few times Korrina does come around, she teaches Colleen how to fight. The two have makeshift sparring sessions where Korrina teaches her different hits and throws, both that she can use herself but also ones she could in theory teach any future Pokemon she has. Colleen is actually pretty toned from all of the lifting of machinery she helps Clemont with, so she’s a decent fighter when she wants to be. She doesn’t personally care for these sessions herself, but goes along with them since it makes Clemont happy when her and Korrina spend time together.

Yeah, Laserbladeshipping is one of those rare pare ships in the Pokemon fandom that most people don't even know that exist. It pretty much came as a result of Korrina traveling with the gang, and other things such as how they are both blonde and are gym leaders, so the ship have a nice aesthetic. Though I like the ship since it has the whole cheerful tough girl with the loveable nerd who easily gets flustered around girls appeal to it.

I can totally see that. If people can turn their relationship into something that makes them happy, then by all means I’m all for it! Even though I personally like GeekchicShipping (Clemont and Serena), I really like Korrina’s character a lot.

“I beg your par-OOF!” Clemont just registered the sight of the pillow before it caught him right in the face. Korrina began circling him on her roller blades, and her Lucario ran around behind her, both of them pelting Clemont with overstuffed feather pillows.

“Really now - oof - is this - oof - I don’t - oof - HELP!” He took off running across the Gym floor, his assailants in hot pursuit. From her perch in the bleachers, Bonnie snickered with Dedenne.

“I knew it was a good idea to invite her to stay while her Gym’s being repaired.”

“Dede!”

Just want to let you know I love your Laserbladeshipping content and I hope you keep making more of it (it's a rare pairing).

Thank you!!! It is indeed an interesting rarepair and I wish there was more content for it myself. I’ll likely end up making more content, since my Laserblade fankid, Colleen, is a main character in my next gen AU. And at some point, I’ll probably talk about Clemont and Korrina’s relationship in the AU as well.
