don't know where else to vent this thought but sergeant Jackrum and Nanny Ogg would get on like a house on fire once they both got over the fact that the other one is Foreign
You're SO right. The house is on fire because the alcohol they make together in a barrel spontaneously combusts when exposed to the open air. They drink it anyway. When they wake up 2 days later, neither remembers anything they did, save that it was fantastic fun and they're both a little sorer than they would've been 20 years ago.

Is it just me or is there something distinctly discworld-escue about the not-things in Wild Blue Yonder? I bet the Lancre witches can take them.
Or Susan for that matter.
Actually now that I think about it I would love a Doctor Who/ Discworld crossover.

so i'm relistening to Night Watch and like
Vimes is a Witch, right?
evidence:
can fade from view without really doing anything, much in the same way Granny Weatherwax can
second, third, and even Fourth thoughts, like Tiffany Aching
skilled in the use of Headology as demonstrated by his defusing of the crowd outside the Treacle Mine Road watch house and the interrogation of Ferret
even Vetinari thinks he wouldn't have been fooled by his advanced camouflage if he had been stood in Vimes' eyeline

I want to reread Lords and Ladies, but it's just gone spring in the Northern Hemisphere and that book really must be read in the summer.

"What are we doing at a pumpkin farm of all places again?" (Esme)
"Dunno.... Halloween..?" (Gytha)
"Halloween?? It's January!" (Esme)
"Halloween is a state of mind, as you very well know. No need to be fastidious about it. " (Gytha)
"Fastidious, huh....? Well, that's me told. What's with Magrat anyway? Wasn't all this her idea?" (Esme)
"I can hear you, you know. And yes, it was. But... I don't know... All these pumpkins make me uncomfortable for some reason...." (Magrat)

I wasn't able to pack any of my Discworld books when I moved (they're all still at my parents' place) and suddenly they're the only thing I want to read right now. I guess I could buy something on kindle but I really don't want to spend any more money *cries*

the wintersmith prologue is so crazy. all the tiff books are about accepting responsibility willingly and with your eyes open but what if you were 13 and made yourself a perfect center for the seasons to pass through you cause well. someone's gotta LOL

Reading everything in the original language except Tolkien & Pratchett because the German translation of LOTR gives me warm fuzzy feelings and Katharina Thalbach voicing the Pratchett characters is the best thing that has ever happened to the medium of audiobooks
