"A study in eyes" is what I decided to call this piece.
I have been meaning to do this for a long time.
People who know me also know how much I care about Arthur Ketch. I personally find the BMOL arc interesting because Ketch, Mick Davies and Toni Bevell all show the effect of being raised in an abusive and "cult" situation. And all 3 of them try to get out (and fail) in the end.
I wanted to do a sort of study, indeed, on their eyes - as I think eyes are the most expressive part of our body.
I have a lot to say, and I cannot say it all here. So I'll talk about the sketch. I glued some brown paper on me because the page got ruined last time. I used colored pencils as my main medium and then added some white gel pen over it for lighting. I was unsure until the very last moment, but then I decided to add gold (marker) to Ketch's and Toni's eyes and silver to Mick's to give an extra light.
You can also find a video at the end to show the markers properly.
Apologies to Elizabeth Blackmore, but one character that didn’t work for me in Supernatural was Lady Toni. I don’t know what it is about English accents that Americans find inherently more commanding or chilling, but it doesn’t work if you actually are English. You need something else to lend your character mystique. Not least because, if you cast an Australian to do an average middle-class London accent, and dress her in off-the-peg cheap capri trousers and knock-off cricket jumpers, just slapping a ‘Lady’ on her will never hit the cold-hearted aristo vibe you’re going for.
(Dr Hess was another matter. The outfits were still kind of embarrassing, but Gillian Barber nailed her old-money accent and 20th Century public school psychopathy.)
Yo, remembering how they just brought in some English version of hunters to spn makes me want to laugh hysterically or wish my brain would just finally melt away. That was one of the most ridiculous shit they ever pulled. Fucking creating Arthur Ketch too. Mick was the only good thing coming out of it and maybe that woman wasn’t too uninteresting. Too bad I don’t remember her name because obv she also died after a few episodes.

" I PREFER TO THINK OF MYSELF AS . . . DEDICATED TO THE TASK AT HAND. " it isn’t the first time the word monster has been thrown at her. probably won’t be 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 either, given how she works. lady toni bevell is every bit a 𝚠𝚎𝚕𝚕 - 𝚝𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚎𝚍 𝚜𝚘𝚕𝚍𝚒𝚎𝚛, taught from birth that legacy comes above all else. she isn’t simply dangerous because of her methods; she’s dangerous because she 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐬 what she’s doing is right and won’t be told otherwise. certainly not by an angel turned winchester pet. " tell me. am i a monster because i do what i do, 𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘪 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰? i suppose being heavenly bound, you’re entitled to some 𝚘𝚙𝚒𝚗𝚒𝚘𝚗 on the matter or at least, you might’ve been. before the american hunters sunk their claws into you. now you’re just as blind - sided as they are. "
