I'm gonna force my texas headcanons on you yayy
My favorite personality is texas being transfem i actually forgot this one for a good bit but yeah i remembered it recently, i like to think the reason she doesn't figure out her dysphoria sooner is because partly she doesn't have that strong dysphoria and just thinks it's general insecurity that everyone has
I also imagine texas just not talking as a kid, i feel they just took a while to get it figured out i also imagine he had a weird voice for some reason
He has perception lens but doesn't use them because he doesn't like the look of them, another optional thing to my theory is that he might need them to drive but still doesn't and when someone finds his license says he needs his glasses they're just like "oh my god you could've killed me!"
He falls asleep right after work, for like 3-4 hours because of his sleep patterns (totally not me and school)
He crochets, i just gave him my one of my hobbies
Oooooo I love all of these :D
Transfem Texas is not something I would have thought of and yet it fits so well. Justa dumbass not realizing anything until someone gives a dare to wear a dress and of course Texas would never back down from a dare, so once the dress is on it’s like “…oh shit”
I mean Texases whole thing is guns soo…it would make sense if he was the quite kid, made fun of for his voice being weird and snapped…seems accurate
Blind as fuck Texas is hilarious, no one understands how this man has come so far without his glasses. The best shot in the StateHouse who actually uses guns consistently, best aim just in general for most things, I mean they don’t even ever see him stumble into stuff. Then they are on the road and get pulled over, Texas has someone grab his license for him and BAMB card says like “Yo ass so blind you couldn’t find a nuclear reactor if it wss right in front of ya” and everyone in the car is automatically terrified :D
Texas needs more hobbies than just ✨~Gun~✨ so him crocheting I can get behind. Same with the napping after work, cause let’s be honest here, there is no way that man is on a sleep schedule that is healthy enough to even PRETEND to be a sleep schedule XD

Duwa Lashi La, acting president of the National Unity Government (NUG), comprised of remnants of the administration of deposed leader Aung San Suu Kyi and others, was speaking to the Reuters NEXT conference from an undisclosed location in Myanmar.[...]
Pro-democracy fighters are out-gunned by an army equipped by Russia, China and India, which uses fighter jets to carry out deadly bombing raids. More than 1.3 million people have been internally displaced since the coup, according to the United Nations, which has said military attacks may constitute war crimes.
The junta did not respond to requests for comment by Reuters. It has said it does not target civilians with air strikes and its operations are responding to attacks by “terrorists”.
Duwa Lashi La said the opposition fighters had killed about 20,000 junta troops. It was not possible to independently confirm the numbers.
“If we had anti-aircraft weapons, safe to say that we could win in six months,” he said. “If only we received the same support that Ukraine receives from the US and EU, the sufferings of the people who are being slaughtered would cease at once.”

WORLD NEWS
Afghanistan: Buries dead, digs for survivors of devastating quake (AP)
“Villagers rushed to bury the dead Thursday and dug by hand through the rubble of their homes in search of survivors of a powerful earthquake in eastern Afghanistan that state media reported killed 1,000 people. The Taliban and the international community that fled their takeover struggled to bring help to the disaster’s victims.”
Ukraine: European Union leaders set to grant Ukraine candidate status (AP)
“European Union leaders on Thursday are set to make Ukraine a candidate for joining the 27-nation bloc, a first step in a long and unpredictable journey toward full membership that could take many years to navigate. Making Ukraine a contender now seems to be a done deal after national leaders were initially divided on how quickly to embrace the war-torn country’s request to become an EU member, which the Ukrainian government submitted only a few days after Russia invaded its neighbor on Feb. 24.”
Myanmar: Aung San Suu Kyi, ex-leader, sent to solitary confinement (BBC)
“Myanmar's deposed civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been moved from house arrest to solitary confinement in a prison in the capital Nay Pyi Taw. The Nobel laureate, 77, was arrested when the military overthrew her elected government in February 2021. For the past year she has been held at an undisclosed location in the capital. Ms Suu Kyi has already been sentenced to 11 years in jail and denies a host of charges which have been widely condemned as politically-motivated.”
US NEWS
Gun Control: Supreme Court ruling expands US gun rights (BBC)
“The US Supreme Court has struck down a New York law restricting gun carrying rights. The law required residents who want a licence to prove "proper cause" to carry concealed weapons and that they faced "a special or unique" danger. The 6-3 decision stated the requirement violates the Constitutional right to bear arms. The ruling jeopardises similar restrictions in other states and expands gun rights.”
Public Health: FDA bans Juul e-cigarettes tied to teen vaping surge (AP)
“Federal health officials on Thursday ordered Juul to pull its electronic cigarettes from the U.S. market, the latest blow to the embattled company widely blamed for sparking a national surge in teen vaping. The action is part of a sweeping effort by the Food and Drug Administration to bring scientific scrutiny to the multibillion-dollar vaping industry after years of regulatory delays.”
Title IX: Biden administration moves to expand Title IX protections (AP)
“The Biden administration proposed a dramatic overhaul of campus sexual assault rules on Thursday, acting to expand protections for LGBTQ students, bolster the rights of victims and widen colleges’ responsibilities in addressing sexual misconduct. The proposal, announced on the 50th anniversary of the Title IX women’s rights law, is intended to replace a set of controversial rules issued during the Trump administration by Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.”

Myanmar junta faces the biggest test since the Coup
Tumblr media
Myanmar junta faces the biggest test since the coup.  According to a rebel commander, diplomats, and analysts, a rebel alliance has taken control of parts of northern Myanmar, including districts that border China. This is the military junta's biggest defeat since the coup of 2021. The worst fighting has occurred in the northern Shan state of Myanmar, close to the country's border with China. Three strong ethnic armed groups have united to launch an offensive that has captured several towns and military outposts in recent weeks. The president of Myanmar, who was appointed by the military, declared on Thursday that the inability to properly combat the insurgency was putting the nation in danger of disintegrating. On Friday, China's foreign ministry stated that Beijing would guarantee security and stability at its border with Myanmar and urged all parties to take action in response to its neighbour's worsening circumstances. parties there to end their argument right away. The United States Institute of Peace think tank stated that anti-junta fighters using "unprecedented coordination" have taken control of 100 military outposts and that the junta is likely to lose control of important border crossings that are responsible for 40% of cross-border trade and a significant source of tax revenue. The United Nations said on Friday that about 50,000 people had been forced to flee Shan, where artillery shelling and airstrikes are still occurring, and some of them had crossed into China. According to a diplomat with knowledge of the attack, which opposition groups have dubbed "Operation 1027" due to the day it began, "it is very significant." Regarding the military of Myanmar, the ambassador stated, "This is the weakest the Tatmadaw has been since the coup," requesting anonymity. That opinion was echoed by two other diplomats. Requests for comment were not answered by a junta spokeswoman. The Bamar People's Liberation Army, led by Maung Saungkha, provided troops for the offensive. Maung Saung Kha told Reuters that the rebel group had been preparing to face the more heavily armed military for over a year. He referred to the public rebellion against the junta that overthrew a democratically elected government led by Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi in February 2021 as "the biggest and most successful of the Spring Revolution" when he announced that operation. As per the statement of an advisor to the National Unity Government, the parallel civilian administration of Myanmar that has supported independent attacks on towns in the Sagaing division, resistance organizations are collaborating closely to put further strain on the already overworked military. opportunity will never, ever come again," the adviser stated, choosing not to give their identity. According to analysts and resistance commanders who spoke with local media, rebel soldiers have so far encountered surprisingly light resistance from the military. According to the diplomats, the offensive increases pressure on the military leadership, which is already dealing with harsh economic sanctions, a lack of foreign currency, and a corruption crisis that has ensnared numerous junta leader Min Aung Hlaing's cronies. Border disputes have also soured relations between China and Myanmar. According to the diplomats, Beijing's opposition would have prevented the latest offensive, which was spearheaded by the "Brotherhood Alliance" and included the Arakan Army, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army, and Ta'ang National Liberation Army, from taking place in Beijing. Pressure to crack down on criminal syndicates operating big telecom schemes and other online frauds out of border areas has been applied to Myanmar in recent months. The coalition said they planned to eliminate those enclaves, which they claimed were shielded by the junta, in a statement declaring the operation. However, China has also demanded a truce and acknowledged this week that there had been Chinese casualties as a result of gunfire from the battle in Myanmar spilling over, as it looks to safeguard significant economic assets in the region. Even though the junta has lost some of its territory, the ambassadors stated that it was unlikely that the military forces would fall anytime soon. "If the government can put up a strong defence, it is probably capable of reopening the trade channels with China," said International Crisis Group senior Myanmar adviser Richard Horsey. "If not, this will be seen as a sign of historic weakness." source credit SEE ALSO: G7 ministers have united to demand a humanitarian pause in the Gaza fighting. Read the full article

Alaska n Cali ? ^_^ romantic or platonic, or neither, just how they’d interact doesn’t matter to me, just curious :33
I AM SO SORRY THAT THIS IS SO LATE. I meant to do this sooner I swear, I just had no idea how to do what I needed to on Google Docs mobile. Anyway, I went the platonic route sorta, it can read as romantic as well, sooo HERE!!!!
Alaska and California-
Cuddles, all the cuddles, it’s what they do like 80% of the time when they’re together
Alaska will just pick Cali up at random, like it’s the more normal thing in the world, and Cali just takes it
They don’t actually talk much when together, well Alaska doesn’t, Cali yaps
Cali somehow managed to get Alaska to watch anime with them one time, it ended at ep 4 when girl + dog = lot’s of crying from the both of them
Alaska has a pet bear and Cali has the insatiable need to pet and cuddle things that can kill him
They have gone to multiple sports games together, despite Alaska not liking the crowds and Cali not like the noise or the crowds, according to Cali it’s “a bonding experience to watch your team win while on the bring of either shutting down or a panic attack”
Cali does sketches of Alaska throughout the day, sometimes the drawings include other states but normally it’s just him, then at the end of the day Cali will give them all to Alaska who proceeds to put them all on the fridge in the garage
Winter vacay is determined by a coin flip, it’s normally with Alaska (it’s not rigged, Alaska just always picks the right side)
Cali tried to get Alaska to understand the appeal video games, then ended up getting demolished by him because of tilt control on Mario Kart
Alaska taught Cali how to ice fish, how to safely skate on open ice, and how to be silent in the woods
The two are just very close, Cali is an outcast not by choice and Alaska is one by choice, it’s an interesting relationship
Cali was incredibly close to telling Alaska about the fact that he writes fanfics, they didn’t but the fact that he was going to is something of note
Cali steals Alaska’s hoodies and shirts since they SWIM in them
Have I mentioned cuddles? Because that is basically what the whole relationship is built upon, cuddles. So. Many. Cuddles.

Myanmar Extends Jail Term Of Japanese Journalist By 3 More Years
Tumblr media
Toru Kubota, 26, was detained in July.Yangon: Myanmar's junta on Wednesday jailed a Japanese journalist arrested while filming an anti-coup protest for three more years for violating immigration law, a diplomatic source told AFP.The sentence came on the same day a closed junta court handed ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi another six years in prison for corruption, according to a source with knowledge of the case, taking the Nobel laureate's total jail time to 26 years.Toru Kubota, 26, who was detained in July and jailed for seven years last week, was sentenced to an additional "three years imprisonment", a diplomatic source at Japan's embassy said, citing the journalist's lawyer.Myanmar's junta has clamped down on press freedoms, arresting reporters and photographers, as well as revoking broadcasting licences during its crackdown on dissent since seizing power last year.Kubota, who was arrested near an anti-government rally in commercial hub Yangon along with two Myanmar citizens, appeared in good health at the hearing on Wednesday, the source said, citing his lawyer.According to a profile on FilmFreeway, Kubota has made documentaries on Myanmar's Muslim Rohingya minority and "refugees and ethnic issues in Myanmar".Kubota is the fifth foreign journalist to be detained in Myanmar, after US citizens Nathan Maung and Danny Fenster, Robert Bociaga of Poland and Yuki Kitazumi of Japan -- all of whom were later freed and deported. Before the sentence was announced, junta spokesman Zaw Min Tun told AFP that Kubota "would not be deported at this moment", without giving details.Phil Robertson, Asia deputy director at Human Rights Watch, said Kubota was being used as a "political pawn" by the junta."By imprisoning Kubota, the junta is sending a chilling message to the foreign media to enter at your own risk," he said.'Sham trial'Suu Kyi, 77, has been detained since the military toppled her government in a coup in February last year, ending the Southeast Asian country's brief period of democracy. She has since been convicted on a clutch of charges, including violating the official secrets act, electoral fraud and illegally possessing walkie-talkies.In the latest case, Suu Kyi was "sentenced to three years imprisonment each for two corruption cases" in which she had been accused of taking bribes from a businessman, the source said. These jail terms will be served concurrently, the source added. The businessman, Maung Weik, appeared in a video televised by a military broadcaster last year claiming he had given Suu Kyi $550,000 over several years.Maung Weik -- who was convicted of drug trafficking in 2008 -- also said he had donated money to senior figures in Suu Kyi's government for the good of his business.Suu Kyi -- who denies all charges against her -- appeared in good health and will appeal, the source added. She is currently on trial for five other corruption charges. Each carries a maximum of 15 years in prison.A spokesperson for Amnesty International slammed the latest trial as a sham that "cannot be taken seriously".A junta spokesman did not respond to a request for comment.Journalists have been barred from attending the court hearings and Suu Kyi's lawyers banned from speaking to the media. In June, she was transferred from house arrest to a prison in the capital Naypyidaw, where her trials are being held in a courthouse inside the prison compound.Myanmar has been in turmoil since the military seized power, sparking widespread armed resistance. The junta has responded with a crackdown that rights groups say includes razing villages, mass extrajudicial killings and airstrikes on civilians.More than one million people have been displaced since the coup, according to the United Nations children's agency.According to a local monitoring group, more than 2,300 people have been killed and over 15,000 arrested since the military seized power. BAP's Week In Review
Tumblr media
Below is a summary of the major news events this week brought to you by Burma Associated Press.
Floods in Yangon
Myanmar’s largest city Yangon was hit by floods following continuous heavy rain early this week.
The heavy rain over Tuesday and Wednesday was reported to have been the heaviest on record for 50 years and caused flooding in many of the city’s townships.
Pictures on social media show that the floodwaters were almost a metre high in some parts of the city.
Preoccupied with the state of the country since the military seized power, many residents said they were caught unawares by the rapid rise in water levels. The situation was also compounded by power outages in some areas hit by flooding.
Experts said Yangon received some 17 centimetres (6.69 inches) of rainfall between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, topping the previous record of 14.9 centimetres recorded 50 years ago.
Local charities are working to provide aid to victims of the flooding even as media reports that the junta’s Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement has done nothing about  the situation.
Parts of Mon State and Kayin State were also hit by bad flooding, with people needing evacuation.
Rain continued to fall in Mon State as of Wednesday and aid workers said they were worried the waters could continue to rise.
Meanwhile, the opposition National Unity Government’s Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management warned that squalls are likely in coastal regions because of storms and a tropical depression in the Bay of Bengal, with heavy rain forecasted in Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Rakhine, Mon, Karen, Bago and Tanintharyi.
UN envoy visits Myanmar
The United Nations’ new Special Envoy on Myanmar Noeleen Heyzer arrived in Myanmar on Tuesday for her first visit to the country since assuming her position last year.
After arriving in Yangon, she proceeded to Nyapidaw where she held meetings with junta chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
"My visit is to convey the concern of the United Nations and propose concrete steps needed to reduce the conflict and suffering of the people. UN engagement does not in any way confer legitimacy [to the junta]," Heyzer said in a statement released by the UN.
Heyzer's visit came just a day after a court sentenced the country's deposed leader Aung San Suu Kyi to six years' jail on corruption charges critics say are trumped up.
Heyzer pressed Min Aung Hlaing to impose a moratorium on future executions and release all political prisoners, according to the statement.
She also requested a meeting with Suu Kyi and asked for the release of one of her advisers, Australian economist Sean Turnell, who was detained during the coup in February 2021. Her request to meet Suu Kyi was not granted.
Singaporean sociologist Heyzer was appointed by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres last year, replacing Swiss diplomat Christine Schraner Burgener.
Schraner Burgener had called for the UN to take "very strong measures" against the military and was the target of regular broadsides in Myanmar's state-backed media.
Heyzer was criticised by many in Myanmar, when soon after being appointed to her position she issued statements viewed to be supportive of the junta.
Pro-democracy activists in Myanmar lambasted her views then and are critical of her current visit, saying that she  is playing into the hands of the junta by giving it a sheen of legitimacy with her meeting the junta head.
The opposition National Unity Government spokesman U Kyaw Zaw said the “special envoy must avoid giving legitimacy to the coup leader Min Aung Hlaing and [his governing body] the State Administration Council”.
NUG officials say they feel “now is not the right time for Heyzer to visit the country, given the regime’s recent sentencing of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and democracy activists to further jail terms, as well as the executions of four activists in July”.
Yet another jail sentence for Suu Kyi
A military-controlled court in Naypyidaw on Tuesday sentenced State Counsellor Daw Aung Sang Suu Kyi to six years in prison after convicting her on four extra counts of corruption.
The latest verdict in the series of secretive trials against the Nobel laureate takes her total jail term to 17 years.
Suu Kyi, who turned 77 in June, was previously found guilty of multiple offences ranging from graft to election violations.
Suu Kyi is being held in solitary confinement at a prison in the capital Naypyidaw and has denied all charges against her.
She still faces another nine charges and has to attend week trials while she is held in solitary confinement in Naypyidaw.
International rights groups and world leaders have expressed concern about the deteriorating state of human rights in Myanmar and dismissed ongoing trials against Suu Kyi, calling them "unfair and unjust”.
"The Myanmar military junta's unjust conviction and sentencing of Aung San Suu Kyi is part of its methodical assault on human rights around the country," said Elaine Pearson, acting Asia director at Human Rights Watch, in a statement Monday.
"The military's willingness to forcibly disappear the country's high-profile civilian leader reveals the brutality that lesser-known political prisoners face," Pearson said.
Junta attempts to deal with fuel shortages
This week the junta announced it had formed a steering committee to purchase fuel from ally Russia, but gave no details on when or how this would begin.
The committee is to be chaired  by former lieutenant general Nyo Saw, chairman of the military-owned conglomerate Myanmar Economic Corporation. The other members of the committee tasked with purchasing, storing and distributing Russian fuel are reported to be senior junta officials and businessmen with connections to the military.
Military-controlled media did not provide details on how the committee would go about performing its task given that Myanmar still has to find sufficient funds to pay for any oil it can acquire.
Elsewhere, the head of Myanmar's central bank was replaced on Friday as part of a surprise reshuffle by the military junta which seized power in a coup last year, military-controlled media reported.
Deputy Governor Than Than Swe, who was hospitalised after being shot by unidentified attackers at her home earlier this year, will now head the bank, replacing Than Nyein.
No reason was given for the change and a junta spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Junta to try its hand at social media
Military spokesperson Zaw Min Htun announced during a press conference on August 17 that the junta will attempt to create its one social media platform to replace Facebook.
Facebook is the most popular social media platform in Myanmar and is used by an estimated 28 million people in the country or about 51.4% of the population.
Facebook banned Myanmar's military and its affiliates from its platforms last year not long after the coup that ousted the country’s elected civilian government last year.
Several months later, Facebook expanded the ban to Myanmar’s military-linked businesses, removing more pages, groups and accounts.
Covid numbers rising again
The military-controlled Ministry of Health announced this week that Covid-19 cases appear to be on the rise again.
It said in a statement that 121 new cases were reported from August 15 to 17. There were also two fatalities from the disease, adding to the 14,000 reported between July and September last year.
Meanwhile, the opposition National Unity Government said it estimates that there were 4,000 deaths from the disease over the last three months.
The military’s Ministry of Health said, of 8.6 million lab samples tested so far in the country, 6.12 million were positive for the disease.
