CONFESSION:

I know it won't happen but I would love it if Krem was a returning companion in Dragon Age Dreadwolf.  They could easily have Krem mention that Bull was killed and the Chargers disbanded.  Krem mentions he needs a purpose as well having some unfinished business in Tevinter.  And he can be romanced. Krem deserves his chance to shine as a companion.

Mad respect to Krem who just sits in the Tavern drinking the Inquisition out of house and home. He doesn't give two fucks what the Inquisitor is doing enough to be a companion, but if you need Haven sifted through or someone to bury Adamant under stone? Krems your man.

Nydha flopped back on the bed with a heavy sigh, looking incredibly crestfallen. He stared at the ceiling with frustration, as if willing it to swallow him up. “So he might not even know I'm courting him.”  The Tevinter laughed, an inelegant snort of a thing before he stifled it. “He knows you're interested in him, I wouldn't worry about that so much. You're bold enough Dorian wouldn't miss it.”  “Small mercies,” Nydha admitted, a tired smile crossing his lips. “I should probably tell him I'm courting him.”  Krem hesitated.  “I should, right, Krem?”

Thank you @idolsgf for tagging me ❤️❤️ I'm still on my fanfic writing break but I thought I would share a bit of a teaser for a very short thing I wrote awhile back that I may or may not expand on later.

The news came on a raven one chilly morning when Inquisitor Lavellan wasn't expecting it at all. Leliana hand-delivered this one. That was Ellawyn's first clue it would be bad news. She had only done that once before, when her clan had been in terrible danger. This was worse. Ellawyn was glad they were alone in her quarters, because she read the note and immediately gave up her breakfast into a wastepaper basket under her desk. Then she had to go find The Iron Bull. He wasn't in the tavern, but Krem was. Her legs still shaking, she went to him instead. "Chief's at the blacksmith but he shouldn't be long. Got a mission for him?" She shook her head, and Krem read her face with almost the same expertise as Bull. "Shit. What's happened?" "It's bad, Krem." She couldn't even say it. So she let Krem read the note. Krem turned white. Then red. Then he muttered a string of rapid-fire Tevinter curses under his breath that Ellawyn's Dalish ears only caught the gist of. "I'll tell him," Krem bit out.

"No!" Ellawyn protested, brows drawn in determined sympathy. "You don't have to do that. I'm Inquisitor. The decision was mine. So are the consequences." "This'll break him," Krem warned in a quiet voice meant for no one else to hear. "At least for a while. I know how you feel about him, boss. We love him too, but it's different. He chose us over them. The other guys might not have worked that out, but Chief told me later how close it came. He knew the stakes. Let me do it. Trust me." "Krem…he already lost an eye for you." "Yeah. And now he's lost a whole island."

one thing i really hated about dragon age inquisition was how it handled krem, a trans guy

in the conversation where this is revealed, the player only has the option to say things to him that are somewhere between a little bit off and actively offensive. there's no option for the main character to be like 'neat!' or even 'hey, me too!' - the game just assumes you're cis by default, and neds to be walked through what transness is

Anyway I personally was not prepared for the sheer level of feral gay energy that Krem unleashed in me but it fucking happened

No but you don’t understand, I would fuck the absolute shit out of Krem. I’d fuck him so hard, all of Tevinter would feel that shit. Tevinter as a whole would all collectively go “damnnnn” at how hard I fucked the shit out of Krem. You just don’t get it.

CONFESSION:

I am glad Krem was included in DAI and I think the way he was written was more good than bad. However, I find it really frustrating that the Inquisitor's interactions with him mean that (in game mechanics at least) it's not really possible to play as a trans character. You can misgender him to Bull, but you can't say 'oh me too' when he mentions being trans. It's an issue with Andromeda too, where an NPC mentions being trans but the PC just... has no way to interact as a trans person. I do understand that these dialogues were fundamentally written to educate cis audiences, but it makes me feel deeply ignored as a trans player and as somebody who might be playing a trans PC. While I don't think it's 'better' I honestly find playing DAO/2 as a PC I just headcanon as trans less jarring/pointedly non-inclusive of a trans PC.
