I love watching sunsets with this woman so much.

Korri vowed devotion to the Garden of Zolteo five years ago. The ceremony was held at night, her entire childhood led to this moment.

Her mother, Zinnia, had spent so much time on her daughter’s appearance, weaving greenery into her hair and picking the finest silks for her to wear. Her long hair was to be worn down, a symbol of her continuing her mother's legacy. Being the leader’s daughter, there was a lot of pressure to be perfect. During the ceremony, Korri sat at the base of the grand tree with a bowl of red paste placed in front of her. Zinnia stood next to her during the ceremony, holding a lit candle as she led the ceremony. Korri noticed the harsh look her mother shot at her throughout the entire night. Zinnia was always harsh on Korri, judging everything she did and pushing her daughter to be better. She worried that her daughter wasn’t good enough to take over leadership, that she would end up like her father. Because of this, Korri already had the vow memorized since she was a small child, she could’ve recited it in her sleep.

"I vow to protect the Garden of Zolteo. I will protect the Tahli's energy that greedy magic-wielders rob and abuse. This energy grants us life, and with this life, I will devote myself to the Garden. Zolteo has blessed me to be a pure tender, to protect. I will do what it takes to protect the Garden."

Korri dipped her hands into the red paste and looked up at the crowd of people. Far in the back was her father, smiling sadly. Her father wasn’t “good enough” for Zinnia’s image, therefore wasn’t allowed to participate in Zinnia or Korri’s “public” life. Despite only interacting with him a handful of times, Korri looked up to him. He was an honorable protector of the Garden, brave, strong, yet kind when he needed to be. She decided to honor her father at this moment, and she crossed her hands and marked her eyes with her thumbs primarily. This was highly unusual, and everyone understood who Korri honored. Zinnia didn't look at her daughter for an entire year.

Korri has spent every moment since trying to prove herself to her mother.

2000's AU Korrie!

The 2000's AU is a tf2 AU made by my friends @zatsysart @shmoobaroni and myself! (Though Zatsy and Schmoo did most of the heavy lifting for it)

And the band AU is a casual spinoff of the 2000's AU

Had so much designing Korrie for this AU. I've always imagined her being a scene-kid but was never able to draw her with this kind of style, at least not with her usual tf2 lore.

The 2000's AU has a lot more going on and is more serious in tone. Take the Tf2 gang and plop them in the early 2000's. There are a few extra story things that Schmoo and Zatsy could explain better

But the Band AU spinoff is more casual and fun. The characters involved in the band AU don't work for Mann co and instead have more more normal lives. Korrie is an artsy scene-kid who works at a donut shop. She becomes friends with Tess when she starts working there too.

As a bonus in this AU, Korrie didn't murder her father! She just cut contact with him when she turned 18.

Desmond is like a big brother figure to Korrie who keeps her in check. The three form a band and move in together. Korrie plays the drums, Desmond is on bass, and Tess is lead vocals and guitar.

Scout is there too as the band's roadie.(Korrie forces him to be the roadie once they start dating lol)

Not all of the mercs are in this AU since it takes place in America but there's a few that stick around as side characters. Heavy is Desmond's parole officer and Sniper would be a reoccurring character that's around sometimes. We like to think that in this AU, Sniper was a homeschooled kid who moved to the US as a child. We like to joke that Sniper is line cook. Korrie's big brother, Drake is a side character in this AU too.

the message of the percy jackson books in basically every one is that "the status quo sucks but the people who try to change it by force are worse so what are you gonna do" which is kind of a shit lesson

other than the final message of trials of apollo is basically "erm sure this character has an abusive dad but he can't actually confront him about it he just has to live with it forever because he's weaker than his dad"

the gods in percy Jackson suck ass and the only recompense they get is a teenager yelling at them every few years.

in the text the villains are actually worse than the status quo but the books never like, give a good alternative to them other than the most neolib ass "internal change is the only way to move forward" but the books also state that it has never worked before but it will surely work this time.

Dunno why i wrote this but this has been bugging me for years, maybe we shouldn't be giving children the message that the powerful people in charge are moronic and lazy but are also all powerful and we can't cross them outside of the systems they give us.

Let's add another question for our Shepards.
