DND STUFF I NEED TO SCREAM ABOUT CAUSE I GUESSED FUCKING RIGHT

Okay quick background in the world of this campaign some mysterious mists covered the world like 900 years ago and has since overtaken towns and created monsters out of anything that it exposed to it for too long and is held back by gathering aether to fuel special aethertrees.

My character Elira was from a village that was consumed by the mists when she was a kid and left her and those surviving from her village refugees for years so she kinda has a hang up on trying to figure out what caused the mists and how to get rid of them.

Our party found an ancient tomb of these 10 ancient heroes from years past called the Swiftblades and through going through the trial there we discovered that they were there when the mists first appeared and most of them died trying to hold back the attack or whatever that caused them. And after the trial was done we got a few relics from them including a scarf that we discovered contained memories from each of the Swiftblades that Elira has been going through rigorously trying to find clues.

For a long time of all the memories she was getting she hadn’t so far gotten a memory from one of them called Callun which was interesting because a lot of the other memories seemed to show that at some point he had done something to betray a member of the team causing them to temporarily break up. Also I (and by extension Elira) was getting the sense that Callun had at one point being romantically involved with another member, Tahli, who was the original owner of the scarf that she was getting all the memories from.

So anyway that was weird but one day I got a memory that seems to be from Callun’s perspective and as a result (because a lot of the other memories Elira has been receiving extra personality traits and flaws as a result of experiencing the lives of these 10 other people from the past) she got the personality trait “I have to be the hero”

And that made me think of another mysterious character our party has come across who is basically the hero of the largest city in the country because he easily finds and collects aether for the tree that keeps the city free from the mists, and his name is Cassius. But there were still some things that didn’t quite fit with that theory so Ive kept that thought too myself for the past month or so.

ANYWAY IN TONIGHTS SESSION with an extra memory and some fiddling around with other relics we got I told the rest of my party my theory and on a whim one of them contacted Cassius referring to him as Callun and!!! I WAS RIGHT!!! BOTH MY THEORIES THAT CALLUN HAD BEEN WITH TAHLI BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENED AND THAT CASSIUS IS CALLUN (who was the one member we got a feeling didn’t die in the final battle the Swiftblades had because he ran away) AND HE POTENTIALLY CASUED THE MISTS AS SOME KINDA MONKEYS PAW DEAL BECAUSE HE WAS DESPERATE TO BE THE HERO WERE RIGHT!!!

So yeah my dnd crew had to deal with me giddily dancing at the table hahaha dnd is fun

The Oddball: Tahli has two obsessions that would be considered weird to most. Moogles and muscular (thick) men. She loves Moogles because they’re cute and soft but are also vicious little things and loves large men because she sees them as the perfect people to nap on (favoring Hrothgar because she believes their muscular pecs combined with the soft fur is the ultimate comfort).

Agoraphobia: Tahli struggles with things like crowds and enclosed spaces unless she has someone to latch onto. She is okay with being around one person but too many people and too many loud noises causes her to panic.

Mysterious History: Tahli doesn’t like talking about her past and will often avoid the subject. If she is asked, she is quick to change the subject or cause some kind of scene in order to avoid it. That being said, she does have triggers from past events.

The clump of grass clenched in my hand and the taste of iron in the air are the two things I remember the most. My head is spinning, and the world is fuzzy and dark. He is near, I can hear his footsteps. I keep my head down, staring at a tuft of grass in front of my face, desperately trying to focus on the small plant. Maybe if I don't see him, he won't be there.

A pool of blood is growing, inching further and further until it reaches the small tuft of green grass. The crimson liquid bulldozes over the grass, drowning it quickly. My sense of dread grows.

I quickly look at a leaf on the ground, far away from the pool of blood. But it's no use, the crimson liquid spreads too quickly, and the little leaf is consumed rapidly by the growing pool of blood.

Desperate to forget, I look away again, but my eyes fall on a pair of shoes. I don't want to, every fiber of my being doesn't want to, but I can't help but look up and search for his face. His expression is hidden, his purple eye glows in the night, and I know what comes next. He raises his blade slowly, every second hurts more than the last, he doesn't look away, and neither do I.

His blade comes down in one quick motion, there's nothing I can do but scream.

Korri vowed devotion to the Garden of Zolteo five years ago. The ceremony was held at night, her entire childhood led to this moment.

Her mother, Zinnia, had spent so much time on her daughter’s appearance, weaving greenery into her hair and picking the finest silks for her to wear. Her long hair was to be worn down, a symbol of her continuing her mother's legacy. Being the leader’s daughter, there was a lot of pressure to be perfect. During the ceremony, Korri sat at the base of the grand tree with a bowl of red paste placed in front of her. Zinnia stood next to her during the ceremony, holding a lit candle as she led the ceremony. Korri noticed the harsh look her mother shot at her throughout the entire night. Zinnia was always harsh on Korri, judging everything she did and pushing her daughter to be better. She worried that her daughter wasn’t good enough to take over leadership, that she would end up like her father. Because of this, Korri already had the vow memorized since she was a small child, she could’ve recited it in her sleep.

"I vow to protect the Garden of Zolteo. I will protect the Tahli's energy that greedy magic-wielders rob and abuse. This energy grants us life, and with this life, I will devote myself to the Garden. Zolteo has blessed me to be a pure tender, to protect. I will do what it takes to protect the Garden."

Korri dipped her hands into the red paste and looked up at the crowd of people. Far in the back was her father, smiling sadly. Her father wasn’t “good enough” for Zinnia’s image, therefore wasn’t allowed to participate in Zinnia or Korri’s “public” life. Despite only interacting with him a handful of times, Korri looked up to him. He was an honorable protector of the Garden, brave, strong, yet kind when he needed to be. She decided to honor her father at this moment, and she crossed her hands and marked her eyes with her thumbs primarily. This was highly unusual, and everyone understood who Korri honored. Zinnia didn't look at her daughter for an entire year.

Korri has spent every moment since trying to prove herself to her mother.
