You've expressed the frustration about the Kikyohating. I understand that InuKik's case is Enemies who steadily,gladly become Lovers,it's a Romeo & Juliete case.
Japan had been tormented by the Waring States,however the one fraction could really understand and praise the morals,the courage,Elegance and integrity of the other side.So lovers between opposing sides was taking place.
And One Nice day the Meiji Jidai came. So Fortunate:)
From the other side:On your opinion which occidental land has the most Kikyohaters? I won't tell you,for now,who I sense it is.Imo it's due to their "nation's" history they lack a Romeo & Juliete case.So that's a reason for Kikyohating.
Speaking of it i recommend to take looks on the:
-Boarding School Juliet(Kishuku Gakkou No Juliet) manga.
I'll take looks on Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World Light Novel. It's Romeo and Juliete case too.

(1/2) Kishuku Gakkou Juliet au with IzuSeri - s4 as the White Cats and Homra as the Black Dogs. Shiro is president and is a neutral party while Munakata and Mikoto are both in the student council and aren't allowed to cause trouble so the ones leading their respective clans are Awashima and Kusanagi. Kusanagi likes Awashima and they get together after a confession but since relationship between two clans aren't allowed they have to keep it a secret and act like they're still enemies in public.
As usual, Kusanagi and Awashima being the only mature ones in the room. So imagine the cast are all teenagers who go to this elite private boarding school for denizens of these two rival countries. Shiro, the school president, is also the founder of the school and thought that by building a school he could help bring the two countries together in peace. The students are divided into two dorms based on nationality, though they still all have classes together and have to learn to work together to have a proper school life. This was the idea in theory anyway, but there’s a lot of bad blood between the countries due to past wars and so the students are constantly fighting.
Munakata and Mikoto are the heads of their respective dorms and to keep them mostly in line Shiro’s placed them both on the student council where fighting is forbidden (not that this stops them from constantly sniping at each other). Awashima and Kusanagi are put in charge of the dorms in their place and as such the two end up crossing paths fairly often. At first Kusanagi thinks that Awashima is this cold emotionless woman while Awashima immediately takes Kusanagi for a shameless playboy. However as the school year goes on the two of them start to develop feelings for each other, they’re both pretty mature and competent and so don’t like to waste time on pointless fights. The other members of their dorms do however and Kusanagi and Awashima constantly find themselves as unexpected allies in trying to keep the peace, while they have their own prejudices they’re both actively trying to keep things calm at school and in doing so they discover that they actually like each other.
This makes things difficult because even outside the school they’re both from high ranking families of their respective countries and it would be difficult for them to have a relationship with their countries currently at odds. Shiro happens to notice that Awashima and Kusanagi are spending a lot of time together and he invites them to his office for tea, where he talks idly about how the first step to peace is getting the future generation of a kingdom to agree to it and basically hinting that if they can create peace between the kingdoms within the walls of this school perhaps they can even solve the tension between their respective countries.
Awashima and Kusanagi decide that they’re tired of having to pretend to be enemies and that they’ll solve this tension between kingdoms themselves so that they can actually have a relationship without needing to hide. They decide that to start they should focus on students with the strongest negative feelings towards the other side (not counting Munakata and Mikoto, who they figure are best left alone for now). Obviously the immediate choice would be Yata and Fushimi, say Fushimi’s like a refugee who left one country for the other, he and Yata were childhood friends before Fushimi left and now they hate each other — except as Kusanagi and Awashima discuss this they’re both like “but they really actually like each other and can’t admit it” and then they exchange this smile like okay looks like we’re going to have to play matchmaker.
Awashima feels a bit awkward about this, she sees Fushimi as something of a younger sibling and hasn’t ever really thought of interfering with his love life this way. But he and Yata are inevitably the ones who start most of the fights between dorms and if they want to create peace Awashima and Kusanagi are going to need to start with the problem children. Kusanagi actually knows Fushimi from the past too and rather likes the kid, he knows Fushimi’s talented it’s just they need to get him to be honest and get Yata to keep his temper in check long enough to realize that Fushimi doesn’t hate him as much as Yata thinks he does. Imagine Awashima and Kusanagi having to do all this plotting for ways to force Yata and Fushimi together, like we may have to lock them in a closet for a couple hours and are we okay with that. The two of them work so well together though I imagine once they combine their forces Awashima and Kusanagi would have a good shot at getting even Fushimi and Yata to be mature for once, like if they have to get those two idiots to kiss in order to eventually get married themselves then so be it.
