Yuri Plisetsky
15-years-old, who just had his long-awaited debut in the senior division, after winning Junior Grand Prix and Junior World Championships twice in a row. He's a rookie student of a famous coach, Yakov, who is know for being able to judge talents well. He mastered quad jumps while still in juniors, but his coach prohibited him from jumping them in competitions. How high he can climb in the world ranking of top skaters with his technically proficient jumps in his first senior year draws everyone's attention.
His talent was discovered, when he was still very young, and he moved away from his family living in Moscow to train with Yakov in Sankt Petersburg. On ice, he is a beautiful fairy, but off-ice he's quite rascal, and his selfies posted on social media always gain a lot of attention, because of his amazing fashion sense. A group of his supporters, known as Yuri's Angels, is famous for their cat's ears. His favorite dish is pirozhki made by his granddad.
Katsuki Family
Katsuki Mari
Yuuri's older sister, who works at "Yu~topia Katsuki". She's a big fan of Japanese idol and likes boys with blond hair - she the one, who gave "Yurio" his nickname.
Katsuki Toshiya
Yuuri's father. He run the only one-day hot springs in Hasetsu. He doesn't know a lot about figure skating, but is a big football fan.
Katsuki Hiroko
Yuuri's mother. She runs "Yu~topia Katsuki" together with her husband. She has been friends with Minako-sensei since university times, but she's younger than her.

This AU popped up randomly in my head and I've been obsessed with it ever since.
No, okay, hear me out-
Yuuri and Yuri as cousins—
Like- Yuri's dad as Toshiya Katsuki's brother but he passed away and Yuri's mother just dumped him onto her father (Nikolai Plisetsky) thus the surname change.
And Niokai somehow manages to get in contact with Toshiya, which leads to the Katsukis wanting to help Nikolai financially, but to do so, he and Yuri need to move to Hasetsu for some time (years).

Yuuri Katsuki was honestly a rather ordinary child for the most part. His family runs the last bathhouse inn remaining in his town of Hasetsu. Growing up, he showed a passion already for the ice and technique with his parents even having him take ballet classes for his talent of dance. Yet as he learned ballet, his teacher suggest he try figure skating instead as he showed a great deal of potential when he was just pretending to figure skate for his childhood friends.
Although, Yuuri was never confident in his abilities. Growing up, he always lacked the ability to believe in himself or think he was good enough for anything, yet he still wanted to try because he loved it. By the age of 12, that's when Yuuri saw Viktor win a gold medal at the grand prix finals at only the age of 16 and decided that's when he knew he wanted to truly become a professional figure skater.
He'd work hard, usually winning second or third place at local competitions until he moved his way up to be officially registered by the JSF. Though he was winning, Yuuri's ability to have confidence did affect his career from day 1.
At the age of 18, Yuuri moved to Detroit to further his skills as a figure skater where he met his roommate and later best friend, Phichi Chullanont. Even when Yuuri's English wasn't the best, they bonded quickly and became rather close friends.
Though his promising career, even if it was late in his career, came to a rock bottom. His beloved dog had passed away, his emotional over eating came into play and he placed 6th place during the Grand Prix Finals. Yuuri was rather depressed from disappointing everyone in his life that he drank heavily at the party for the finals to a point where he completely blacked out. He approached Viktor and asked him to be his coach if he won a dance contest with Yuri Plisetsky, and even pole danced nearly naked in front of Viktor!
Yet Yuuri remembers none of this, he woke up the next day with a pounding headache and no memories of what happened. Though what was strange is Viktor seemed unusually happy to see him when they walked by each other at the airport back to their homes. Yet Yuuri felt far too insecure, and was in a deep depression where he was fully ready to quit skating until he had done a performance of Viktor's routine from that season to show off to his childhood friend and first crush. Though unlucky for him that her daughters recorded it and posted it online.
The video went viral and the next thing Yuuri knows, Viktor shows up to Yuuri's home ready to move in and announcing he'd be his coach and he'll help him finally get the gold medal he believed he deserves. Yuuri couldn't possibly have believed it that his idol would come all the way here just for him when he was so...painfully boring in his own eyes.
Yet Yuuri would take the opportunity, he would have Viktor as his coach and try to work hard to get that gold model to make his idol proud. Yet at the same time, Yuuri was terrified and his anxiety was getting the better of him. He would truly be lying if he didn't get anxiety attacks from the fear of losing Viktor and disappointing everyone.
He would still try though, growing so close to Viktor that the two had fallen in love with one another. Yuuri always had a crush on Viktor, even if he denied it for years, whereas Viktor seemed to come on...strong even if unintentional flirting was Viktor's main trait. With their love, trust and mutual respect for one another - they grew a tight relationship no one could ever deny between them. Yuuri would even propose to Viktor and the two have plans to get married as soon as Yuuri wins a gold medal to match their golden engagement rings.
Yuuri Katsuki is a very sweet man but he also has a heart of glass. He gets hurt easily when someone picks at his flaws too much and does suffer from anxiety disorder which makes both socializing and remaining calm on the ice a difficult process. Yet there are glimmers of the confident skater he's slowly becoming thanks to Viktor being the push he desperately needed.

okay, since i have seen the mis-tagging of relationships happen a lot
here is how to tag relationships on AO3 from the actual AO3 FAQs:
How do I tag a romantic or platonic relationship?
Romantic and/or sexual relationships are indicated by using a slash ("/") separator (for example, Mickey Mouse/Minnie Mouse). Nonsexual, non-romantic relationships—such as platonic relationships between friends, family, teammates, etc.—are indicated with an "&" separator (for example, Hinata Shouyou & Kozume Kenma).
Platonic and romantic relationship tags are separate, so searching and filtering by Aerith Gainsborough & Sephiroth won't show results tagged with Aerith Gainsborough/Sephiroth unless both tags are added to the particular work or bookmark.
Relationship tags can feature more than two characters but shouldn't refer to both a romantic relationship and a platonic relationship at the same time. For example, you could tag Envy Adams/Ramona Flowers/Kim Pine or Mark Cohen & Thomas B. Collins & Angel Dumott Schunard, and tag wranglers could make those relationships canonical. The humming had been a part of Hiroko’s life for as long as she could remember. Even when she was a little girl she would hear it, and soon she could hum along. Her soulmate often hummed the same tunes, old lullabies or children's songs, but as she grew older it changed for more popular music. Sometimes she heard them hummed first, before it came on the radio in her mother’s seamstress shop, and she often wondered if her soulmate created music, or if they just loved it. She wanted to know everything about them, and she always cherished the way it kept her company, and how they could hum together, almost as if they shared something real, something touchable. She wondered so who they were, and how she could find them. Humming didn’t really help, and she often found it to be a stupid ability to share with your soulmate, no matter how lovely it was to hear their voice in her mind. How was humming supposed to help her find them?
“Hiroko-chan, let us go to the onsen today. To Yu-topia,” he mother said one afternoon as she came home from school. Her mother rolled her shoulders, probably stiff from sowing all day. “I have just finished a big job, and you work hard in school, we deserve a soak.”
“Yes, okasan,” Hiroko agreed excitedly. She had never been to Yu-topia before. They usually visited another onsen when they went, so she felt excited to see this new place. She helped her mother clean up the shop, and they closed it slightly early, making their way to Yu-topia Katsuki. Her mother told her about the couple who owned it, the father having inherited it from his father, and how it would probably go to their oldest son when the time came as well. Hiroko listened half attentively. The Katsuki son was slightly older than her, and she didn’t think she had ever met him, or not in an official manner so she would remember. A new song started humming in her mind, and she listened intently. She hadn’t heard this one before, or at least she didn’t recognize it, and she felt how her attention slipped from her mother to the song. She wondered what her soulmate could be doing that caused them to hum. She desperately wanted to know.
