He is SO FLOOF and MY FRIEND and I miss him and his (not accordion) bandoneon playing and he's just a pretty blue birdie who is also A Dad of 5 girlies. Anyway, I MISS HIIM.

His theme is a banger and he gives you advice and helps Link out in the shrine quest and he plays really cool music. He's also a BBB, big beautiful bird. 🥰🥰

Smug tsundere bird who's not very good at masking his giant crush on Link who actually works really hard to get some recognition and is vastly misunderstood by the majority of the fandom. The fact that he has no living relatives but still fights to protect his home. Instead of requesting for a statue built in his honor or whatever after winning a tournament, he wanted a training ground (the Flight Range) for the Rito children or anyone to train so that they can become stronger. He’s only mean to Link because he thinks Link was handed his Champion title because he could wield the Master Sword, while Revali had to work his whole life just to get to where he is. Anyway, he will be missed, Hylian Pine Cones just aren't the same.

The musician smoothed down his feathers, returning Rivan’s grin.

“You’re certainly a motley crew,” he said. “And very well-armed. Good; you can never be too careful this close to Hyrule Field. A Guardian spotted me as I flew overhead. Dear, oh dear, I thought I was going to have a heart-attack…” He trailed away. His eyes suddenly widened. “That…that thing on your hips…”

Link’s hand went protectively to the slate, but the musician only smiled.

“Sheikah design, yes?” he asked. “Gracious, I bet that put a hole in your wallet.”

“Yep,” Link lied.

“I’m Kass,” the musician said. “My teacher was actually a member of the Sheikah tribe. Very talented man; he taught me all his very best songs. I actually know one about the Ancient Hero and the Calamity from ten thousand years ago. Would you be interested?”

After a meeting with Cotera, Link and the gang begin to make their way to Eldin. On the way, they meet a certain Rito bard with a song to share. A memory hits Link hard and fast.

Soooo I didn’t post this yesterday because honestly, I’m not happy with it at all. But then I though, fuck it, I spent time making this so I may as well show it off.

I looove Rito and Rito Village, and if I had the time I would probably have drawn something more intricate, something that captures my love for them even deeper. But who knows, that might happen another day.

I've been thinking about a fake sidequest for Kass for a while... It works like the Tarrey Town sidequest, where you basically find musicians from each race to join him and create a traveling band of sorts, or maybe find him an apprentice to pass down the stories given to him by his predecessor. By the end of the quest, Link is either given or finds an ocarina along the way to play with them. Maybe it has a gameplay purpose, or maybe it is just purely there for emotional and nostalgic reasons. Or, it unlocks another sidequest: to find music pages for his ocarina, and give them to Kass to complete his compendium of history via music.

Thinking about Breath of the Wild Zelda who, once the Calamity is over, feels hesitant to go near any civilization. Link sort of understands, replaying the words her father said in his mind:

"Do you know what the gossip mongers refer to you? They are out there, at this moment, whispering amongst themselves that you are the heir to a throne of nothing. Nothing but failure."

There really is no avoiding the truth of the matter: she did fail. So many people perished because she couldn't access her power in time.

But so did he.

Link ran away from Hyrule Castle once he realized the Divine Beasts were not coming to help defeat the Calamity. He gave up on his mission before it ever truly began. By Zelda's logic, the people should have hated him too.

But the stories the people today tell of him, the songs that Kass sings, show that he was so cherished and loved. They remembered him for 100 years.

And if they could forgive him for what he did, then it can only be ascertained that they would forgive her too.

He stokes the campfire they've made at one of the makeshift campsites and murmurs,

"They'll love you. Promise."

He thinks it goes unheard, as most of his words tended to in the distant past, but her ears flick ever so slightly, rosy in the firelight.

"I hope so," she whispers back, pulling her knees closer to her.
