Big Fight in Little Chinatown (dir. Karen Cho) x DOXA 2023. (via Graham Hughes/CP)
There's much to [its] careful exploration of Chinatowns across the continent. Its reverence for the stewardship of these neighbourhoods is admirable while the documentary delves into the ever-growing gentrification faced. Cho ably sums up the history of Chinese people as compelling stories of struggle and survival.

Selfie (2014) -  Eliza Dooley & Henry Higgs
(Karen Gillan & John Cho)
Henry: I'm not lonely. I have my good friend Philip Roth. Eliza: Mm-hmm. Henry: Maybe a little lonely. Eliza: And maybe I can help you with that.
Behind the scenes:
In a scene that ran just before the cancellation announcement—during the [Brian] Rubenstein-penned sixth episode, “Never Block Cookies”—Eliza goes over to Henry’s house and confronts him. They wind up having an intimate moment where he grabs her around the waist, leading to an almost-kiss that’s one of the most smoldering moments in sitcom history. Rubenstein remembers that moment in particular: “Emily [Kapnek] came down and was sort of orchestrating how that whole thing would go. Just the chemistry between those two was really cool to watch; it felt that way on set.”

eliza dooley and henry higgs had the potential to be one of the best television couples in history, but were not given the appropriate amount of time to develop their relationship thoroughly due to selfie's early cancelation. in this essay, i will–

rewatched SELFIE for the first time since it first aired and im still mad at ABC for cancelling it.
Tumblr media
it may not have been perfect but it was fun, silly and deserved more than one season.
Eliza Dooley and Henry Higgs were such great characters!
Karen Gillan and John Cho were so good!
i miss this show and i want it back!
i want Eliza Dooley, Henry Higg, Charmonique and that office full of weirdo's back!
im also mad at yall for not watching the show because the title was too "polarizing."... at least that's what was said about why people weren't watching it.
