Cinder and Kai would be adamant that they prefer to be good parents over being a good emperor/empress. They'd both take their kids to work and meetings when necessary. If anyone says anything, they can say, "this child will grow up to be the empress, and to do that she needs to have a good childhood. How can she have that without her parents caring for her?"

I also imagine them having their child sit on their lap and answer questions at press conferences, e.g:

Unfortunately, they couldn't take a baby to every meeting. But when they're working Iko is there as the best auntie ever. Side-note: Iko would be an amazing nanny. She could stay up all night caring for the baby without tiring out. Cinder and Kai are forever grateful to her for allowing them to get a few extra precious hours of sleep.

I think that Kaider is a pretty affectionate couple. Not so much in the public eye because they're classy like that, but I do think that, when they are alone and it's bedtime, they enjoy being close to one another. It's literally canon that those two are hardcore snugglers.

As for actual sleeping, I do think Kai talks in his sleep, and I bet it just gets worse and worse the older he gets (mostly because he's relaxed and more comfortable). I imagine Cinder to be a light sleeper, but that when she falls asleep beside Kai and feels safe she snores just a little bit. I don't think that either are crazy sleepers, though I do think Kai would be the blanket hog of the two of them and Cinder gives him hell for it all the time.

this the fastest I have replied to a fic request, and it's making me feel proud so yea, you absolutely would get some kaider fluff and just to be quick I'm gonna write headcanon in this one since it gotta be quick and I might take forever to expand each idea into 1000 words and you don't want to be waiting that long, also I don't want you to wait that long too!

after the revolution gets over, Kai decides to learn Cinder's favourite thing and wants to surprise her with her favourite things so he decides to ask Iko about it but learns that Cinder didn't really have much choice in picking favourites *sobs*, so she doesn't really have favourite things. So Kai takes it upon himself to make sure Cinder gets to try new things and stuff like icecream flavour, flowers, colours, books, places so she can have favourites.

So one time when he wanted to gift her flowers and he does have Peonies with him but he doesn't want to assume and instead wants Cinder to choose her favorite flowers so he takes her to the florist shop and they just look around the shop taking in all that colour and fragrance, as Kai makes her check each and every flower in the shop. Cinder finds it fun and silly but she internally loves him for it validates her choices and when she goes through the flowers she does end up picking Peonies since they do remind her of Peony but also since they look so beautiful and ornamental. It's closely followed by Pink Frangipani and Kai makes a note of all the flower she looks at multiple times or touches it in a comforting way when she knows he isn't looking her way, so that she can be gifted those from time to time.

Once they have figured out Cinder's favourite flower, it's Kai's turn where he asks her to make a wild guess and it turns to be a challenge for as she looks around the shop all over again to figure out what Kai's favourite flowers might be. And she does try to cheat by searching it on her netscreen but there all vague answers and every site has different flowers so she decided to name each one of them to him and it goes like

"This site says you like Burgundy Roses as you wanted to be devoted by your lover," she says as she gives a few collection of roses to him.

"The colour truly is mesmerising but I don't love them."

"How about Sunflowers or maybe Daffodils since you are always optimistic?"

"I do find them poetic but again a no."

"Wolf's bane since you love doing the forbidden?"

"God what site are you on?"

And she goes on naming a few more and she can't a name on it so instead she changes tactics, making him tell his own favorite. So the first one to get a comm would lose and if it's Kai he will tell his favorite flower and if it's Cinder than she would have to extend her trip by an extra day. Cinder loses the game and no one is sad over it since she gets to spend one more day with him but she does pester him into telling about his favorite flower.

"Orchids, blue more than others," he says.

And Cinder notices that not a single site mentioned about Kai loving orchids and she asks about it and he tells that no one bothered to ask him as he was always given complimentary bouquets. And Cinder buys him Orchids of each colour, before walking out of the shop.

Kaider do it before or after getting married or maybe after they are engaged? Thoughts?

In my mind it definitely doesn't happen before they get engaged. They're both extremely busy world leaders and even on the rare opportunity they have time to be intimate together, they're too exhausted. There are, for sure, heated make outs and maybe the occasional dry humping session to relieve sexual tension. But there's not full-blown sex until they're both living on the same planet--at the very soonest. And even at that point, they're both ridiculously busy with running the Commonwealth and wedding planning that I don't think they'd actually have the opportunity to until their honeymoon when no one is allowed to bother them. They'd spend a week on some tropical island fucking, catching up on well-deserved rest, and simply enjoying their alone time together.

Cinder x Kai Ficlet/Headcanon inspo?

Id love if anyone had any little cute ideas for me to write about Kaider! A short fix idea, either a bit angsty, all fluff, slice of life, a specific headcanon, a quote you want me to draw inspo off of for a fic, etc. I really want to start getting back into writing and I feel like a very soft start may be best for me. I’m also interested in opening up my range of writings- I used to absolutely hate to write angst, and I specialized in slice of life and I guess it would be nice to challenge the themes I write in. I also wouldn’t necesssrily mind eventually writing more explicit scenes if anyone had any suggestions or requests, but soft starts first I’d say lol.

(also by angst I mean angst with a happy ending I swear to God if someone makes me write a death we’ll both drown to death in tears)

Okie so this isn't a typical angst where Cinder isn't accepted by the crowd so the engagements is broken off or any political dilemma but do you think that Kai and Cinder might break up just cause they are unable to vibe with each other anymore. Like yea I absolutely love Kaider but yk all their romance took place during a revolution time so we can't deny the possibility of it being a rushed love sorta thing where they were hoping for more but didn't expect they could have more way and do you think that the distance separted them on a view point like a long distance relationship spinoff and that caused an ultimate void which turned to a break up ? Idk I was just contemplating about it from a realistic sense and wanted to hear ur views on it

I think, regardless of revolutionary pressures, grief or prejudice, Cinder and Kai have an undeniable romantic connection. But was their relationship propelled by those pressures? Absolutely.

In a calmer environment, I feel they would take more time as friends before starting a relationship. But as it unfolds in canon, they rush into romance on the Rampion and subsequently must go long-distance. Plunging a fresh relationship into drought is breeding ground for doubts and insecurities, which is what we see in Wires and Nerve:

When they reunite, it's awkward. They have that question of "will this work?" But they get past that and establish that the relationship is viable in person and has survived the long-distance:

But when they get engaged, and Cinder moves into New Beijing Palace, they are together constantly. Maybe they start to notice things. Yes, they talked extensively over comms and learnt a million things about each other, but being in person reveals a million things they don't know.

Watching netdramas together, Kai learns that his favourites are boring to Cinder. Cinder learns that Kai will always steal food off her plate, which is cute until she's hungry and then it isn't.

It's a lengthy adjustment period, but they do adjust. They become frank with each other, admitting that they need to learn more about each other in between wedding planning and discussing when they will have children. It's an unconventional engagement to say the least. In Cinder's Adventure, it says "they enjoyed a long engagement", and that could be because they decided to get closer before marriage.

With all of this in mind, they have the foundations of a good relationship with great friendship and great chemistry, so I believe that by working on it together, they can overcome any obstacles their unusual start brought about. Although, if they had been long-distance for longer than 2 years, say 4 or 5, I realistically think they would break up. That's where you could produce some angsty kaider break-up fic.

I haven't listened to much Lizzo, but I'm here for this headcanon. I love the idea of them destressing together while listening to music. Also them just listening to music and sharing it with one another.

I've always thought that Kai probably has bad taste in music, which is something that Cinder makes fun of him for, but she grows to love the same music. I feel like growing up royal it would have been his outlet to listen to sort of trashy stuff, and it's his deepest, darkest secret.

i would give up my firstborn child to get the kaider wedding. ever since i finished stars above, i have thought of little else. like seeing what kai wrote for cinder for their vows? goddamn perfection. i could also see them doing a private ceremony with the rampion crew, with their family, without the media attention. it would be so intimate, private and perfect, exactly what they wanted, to say their vows in the company of those they love. kai and cinder are both breathless after their kiss, after they break apart, kai murmurs ‘i love you’ to cinder, and cinder whispers it back before kissing him again. thorne whistles loudly and they break apart laughing, before kissing each other again. toward the end of the night, the rampion crew vacates the dance floor leaving them alone, kai’s hands are around her waist and cinders around his neck. they would sway to the calm music, their foreheads pressed together. they can feel each others hearts beating at the same rhythm. kai is the first to pull away, looks her into eyes, and asks cinder “if you are not ready, then we can wait—” and is cut off with a kiss, before cinder says against his lips, “i want you, kai.” before she takes his hand and leads him to the room. the night is filled with love, gentleness, and desire, because they both have wanted each other for so long. and the morning after, they lay in bed, a tangle of limbs and sheets. cinder is woken up by kai’s kisses, slow and tender, his lips feeling like fire on her skin. cinder loves being in the warmth of kai’s arms, the feel of his body against hers, feels so right and she smiles at the memory their first dance at the ball, how she felt the same way, the sense of rightness at being within his arms. she never wants to leave, the warmth of him, his heat of his lips, is the most welcome warmth. she turns to face him, her fingers threading through his hair, she said, “you are breathtaking, kai.” his breath hitches, the memory of the night before lingering in the words, spoken from his lips in the night filled with heat. his smile is like the day breaking, as she pulls him close and kisses him. before they leave the warmth of the bed and each other, they share a long passionate kiss, and i love you’s murmured against their lips, neck, collarbones, shoulders and kisses that follow the words spoken against their skin. when they join the rest of the rampion crew in the kitchen, they are met with hugs and laughter. cinder pulls kai against her and kisses him, and the applause erupts, jacin let’s put a wolf whistle and thorne yells. i imagine thorne making fun of kai and cinder the morning after, kai blushing and cinder overheating and punching him. days after, they would do a wedding that is televised and they both wear traditional eastern commonwealth clothes. both looking fucking gorgeous. thorne, wolf or jacin fight over who gets to walk cinder down the aisle.

Headcanon!

Cinder uses her cyborg abilities to view Kai's face whenever she has free time. She tells Iko that she's only learning more about the crown Prince of the commonwealth but we know the real reason is because she has a crush on him since they first met.

On the other hand, Kai tries to find itty bitty reasons to bring the mechanic over. Dr. Erland definitely knows the reason and he's sighing in the background.
