the funniest part about coming to mha late, was I knew bkdk was extremely controversial and had seen some of the discourse about from the outside, so when I finally decided to watch it I was shocked to discover just how much of the plot revolved around izuku having a huge crush on kacchan

On this Episode of Messing with Kacchan: Music
(Probably thought of before)
I love the idea I had from listening to a song the other day. It wasn’t a traditional song either and if I’m honest, I didn’t like it at first and it had to play repeatedly on TikTok for me to finally admit I liked it. After days of it being stuck in my head.
So my brain decided “I bet Katsuki would have this same issue.”
Basically I imagine Izuku (or anyone really but this is my main ship sooo) once their relationship is patched up and they start dating probably sends Katsuki random stuff he finds on the internet late as fuck at night or just randomly as he gets them because now he knows the blonde won’t kill him, might make his food a little spicier or withhold cuddles but it’s whatever…
With how quick something like TikTok is I can easily imagine Izuku sending hero stuff over for discussion or even gaming stuff (I HC with this that he gets a little more interested in video games maybe not hard core or something but wanted to have a talking point with Katsuki).
Anyway, I imagine Izuku sending him Tiktoks/videos and especially ones that are pretty popular. Maybe a specific type of hero one that people keep making with the same song bite attached to it - trends you know?
I can imagine Katsuki gets these and pretends he doesn’t watch them, depending of course on what it is, but watches them. He gets super annoyed as hell one day when Izuku just sends TikTok after TikTok that people make - some pro hero trend with a dumbass song playing over the video. When asked about it he acts as per usual and bitches about getting them and how dumb they are.
And he HATES them. Because now he’s trying to sleep and the fucking song is stuck in his head. It’s stupid as fuck and isn’t even a good song. It just has a beat that slaps and he can’t fucking STAND it. A few days later he almost breaks his phone by throwing it away from him when a random TikTok has the damn song it it and he immediately starts bobbing his head to it. Fucking bullshit.
It takes another week or two before he finally just gives in. The damn song is now on his FOR YOU PAGE with the stupid trend and the dumb as fuck algorithm won’t stop showing them to him. He can’t get the fucking thing out of his head so he might as well just enjoy it. Nobody has to know anyway especially not his shitty (wonderful as fuck okay?) boyfriend.
One afternoon he’s focused on cooking his dinner a little zoned out and relaxed as he goes through the motions Katsuki begins mumbling/humming a song to himself while cooking his dinner when Izuku walks in and hears it. Their eyes lock. Izuku smiles. Katsuki immediately goes on the defensive.
Izuku: “So you DID watch them.”
Katsuki: “The fuck are you talking about? Shut the fuck up.”
After arguing back and forth Izuku proceeds to try to catch Katsuki off guard by playing the song at random times and it WORKS because the blonde bobs his head ever so slightly before catching himself and throwing his meanest glare at the shorter boy. If he attempts to tickle him to death later that’s their business.
No way in HELL was anyone finding out Katsuki Bakugo likes and actively listens to a song called “Coochie Anthem”. Fuck no.
Note: So basically when the game Elden Ring came out there was a trend where people would post a video with the caption “Things that wrecked my ass in Elden Ring” and they would have their character emote on beat towards the enemies that murdered their soul. The song was called Coochie Anthem - yes I know….but hear me out. I hated this damn song because it was catchy as all fuck. This shit would keep me up at night AND the trend would show up on my FYP so so so so so much. I ended up downloading the song and now it’s part of my playlist. Its REALLY a fun song with a happy beat….I couldn’t help it. I’ll leave a link on the comments in case anyone is curious.

A (Hopefully) Reasonable Response
For @kiricookie .
[Read this if you want the following ramblings to make any sense.]
(Sorry this is so hecking long and all over the place, I just wanted to be thorough.)
[Manga Spoilers and Movie Spoilers Ahead]
I’m gonna do things a little differently here.
For starters, I’m gonna not gonna be addressing the fandom at large, because the fandom at large won’t be able to give me an answer.
I’m just talking to you, kiricookie. Because it’s your post, and you deserve to know what people (like myself) think of it. Just letting you know right now, and this is with absolutely NO sarcasm: I won’t be rude. I’ll do my damndest to not be rude.
Because you didn’t go and make that post and share it with the entirety of the world wide web just for it to get ridiculously crapped on without so much as a glance.
So, I’ll read it. I’ll think about it. And I’ll give you my thoughts. You don’t have to read them if you don’t want to. But common courtesy makes it so I leave the opportunity. You deserve that much.
You probably already know what this is about anyway. So I’ll start with something… unexpected, at least coming from someone like me…
...you’re right.
To be more specific, you’re right about Tenya. You’re right about how his split second decision to murder Stain should be concerning and in fact is concerning. You’re right about how he’s the most prone to lose his control and how his emotions get the better of him. You’re right about all that.
*Internal wince* Now, if you don’t mind me going into other details…
I’m not saying anything that spurnned on Tenya to murder the Hero Killer was in any way justified; it wasn’t. It never could be, it never should be. Murder is wrong no matter how the hell you look at it, and even if you have no choice but to go through with it, you shouldn’t be happy that you had to take someone’s life under any circumstances. But looking through Tenya’s perspective for a moment… he lost a brother, in a way. He lost a hero. Someone extremely close to him, who inspired him and others, who did nothing but good in any way he possibly could. And then he got cut down by someone who Tenya only knows as the antithesis of good and now his brother can’t do any good, or at least not as much as he used to.
Again, that doesn’t excuse attempted murder. In a morbid way, it’s sort of the logical extreme of when we saw Tenya at the start of the series: he immediately writes of Izuku because he only sees him as a hindrance and recognizes his own shortcomings after the fact. He immediately guns after Stain because he did something unforgivable in his eyes, and recognizes his own shortcomings after the fact.
In the heat of the moment, Tenya is prone to failure. He is prone to misjudgement. We’re talking about the same guy who decked his best friend because he was about to do something borderline illegal. The entire point of Tenya is to showcase the distance between what he wants to be and what he actually is, and the steps he takes to get there.
But yeah, the murder plot was a tad… oh who am I kidding, a HELL of a lot of overkill.
But circling back to why we keep scrutinizing Katsuki about his mannerisms while we keep praising Tenya from sunrise to sunset… I can’t speak for all of us Bakugo antis, because I know some of us have legitimate reasons for disliking him and the others are butthurt record players on repeat that you mentioned, but I can at least give out my reasoning behind it.
We don’t talk often about Tenya having a murder episode because he never tries to do it again, and he legit tries to improve and avoid anything similar happening again.
After the Hosu incident, Tenya admits that Stain was right about him, and he resolves to not be a screw up from then on out. He makes an effort to be a better class representative, a better example than what he had been setting before. He doesn’t deck Izuku just because “hE aNgY” during the Hideout Raid arc; he doesn’t want Izuku to make the same mistakes as he did, because everyone else was worried about Tensei, Stain, and Tenya, but Tenya was so dead set on “righting a wrong” that he ignored everyone around him and nearly got himself killed for it, and if things were any worse in Hosu, Tenya might not have been the only one dead. For all intents and purposes, that’s what Tenya thinks is happening again when the Bakugo Rescue Squad suggests tracking their friend down.
And like you mentioned when Tenya offered to lend an ear to Izuku when the Shie Hassaikai incident was tearing him apart from the inside, that’s the progression coming full circle. Tenya realizes that there are other people in the equation that he needs to listen to and that need to be listened to, otherwise they’ll do something completely ludicrous and get themselves and/or other people hurt in the process.
And the thing is, Tenya only needs to have his “Oh f***” moment once. And it’s barely brought up again, which puts out of the audience’s minds.
(Sidenote, while you’re “heroes not killing is weak” thing kinda came out of left field with me, I actually agree. A whole lot actually. Just so you know.)
The thing about Katsuki is that everything supposedly “wrong” with him… is still kinda going on to some extent. Sure, the people at UA have thicker skin and are willing to brush him off or call him out, but that doesn’t change the fact that some of his behavior is… highly concerning.
Personally I tend to avoid the Episode 1 suicide baiting (“avoid,” not “ignore”) because it was forever ago and it is repetitive, but I still think it needs to be addressed to some degree. In any case, Katsuki’s actions throughout the series are what get me and others to not think he’s exactly hero material. In any team exercises, he often puts himself at the forefront (not without reason, but still) and tends to shy away from tag-teaming unless his back’s against the wall. Despite what the Joint Training Arc would claim, Baku did most of the heavy lifting on his own, with little to no actual teamwork, though that’s more of a narrative problem than an in-universe problem. Even his teamwork with Izuku is still shaky at best; he keeps yelling at him, berating him, and telling him to do his best just so he won’t screw Katsuki over.
Say what you will about Katsuki’s “unique” personality, it may fly with his classmates, but realistically speaking, it’s gonna be a problem for when he does get into Professional Hero work. Can he be rude and snarky on professional business? Absolutely. Does he have to scream at his partner(s) whilst making them feel like they’re at the bottom of the barrel? Eh…
Before I commit to your last paragraph, I wanna bring up something. We can both agree that Tenya lost a hero when Tensei was attacked, right? We can both agree that his decision to ignore everyone and go in guns blazing was terrible, 0/10, wouldn’t recommend, right?
Okay. It’s not to the same degree, but… Katsuki has done something similar.
Katsuki lost a hero too. His name was All Might?
And what did Katsuki do well after the fight was over. He didn’t talk about it with anyone. He dragged out his childhood friend so he could rough him up, because fists is the only way he knows how to deal with his disconnect of societal expectations and, as AO3 would attest, Katsuki is complete s*** at feelings.
Katsuki did the same things Tenya did, albeit to a lesser degree. They both lost a hero. They both didn’t talk about it to anyone. And in the end, they both tried to hurt someone in order to alleviate their pain. The aftermath is… admittedly lucky for both parties.
So, about your last paragraph before the GIF… do you wanna know why antis (at least like me) keep bringing up Katsuki’s previous mistakes. It’s less so because they ever happened, or even because Katsuki did them. It’s more so because despite what the narrative and most of the fandom may think, Katsuki’s mistakes are never treated as such, at least not substantially. Eraserhead doesn’t even bother giving Katsuki a pep-talk about his behavior on the first day, or at any time he’s there to witness Katsuki acting like a jackass. All Might doesn’t stop the training exercise when Katsuki nearly kills a fellow student, which he was aware of being a possibility but it’s fine so long as he dodges, and it isn’t even addressed properly afterwards. In the Final Exams, Katsuki hitting his partner and later being dragged out the gate doesn’t bar him from passing, like say, Hanta; while Katsuki did contribute more, it doesn’t change the fact that his initial uncooperative behavior wouldn’t fly in the Pro Hero world, and he made himself a liability in those last few seconds against All Might. Even him losing the Provisional License Exam isn’t as big of a deal, because Katsuki gets to learn about a really important Quirk, no one’s grilling him like, say, Izuku is getting grilled, and not having his License and getting an additional day of house arrest spares him a potential “maybe strength isn’t everything” ass whooping from Mirio. I could go on a bit longer, but I think you get the jist.
Now, I’d absolutely LOVE it if society didn’t royally f*** up Katsuki’s perspective the way it did, but the problem is that the narrative has absolutely no intention of showing or admitting that Katsuki’s perspective is problematic. Ever since Deku vs Kacchan 2 decided that was enough development for Katsuki, he is always in the right, 100% of the time. Any opposition is few and far between, and will often be seen in the wrong anyway despite the legitimate concerns a person like Katsuki would present. Sure he can tell a kid not to look down on people during the Remedial Course arc, but when the Cultural Festival comes around he immediately decides to look down on the other classes. The fact that a majority of UA hates Class 1A is some grade-A bulls***, but the speech Katsuki gives to 1-A is also bulls***.
It essentially boils down to “F*** everybody else and only do things for yourself.” Because that’s what heroes are supposed to do…
That aside, Katsuki needs help. He needs therapy, anger management, and someone who won’t take his s*** just because he’s a so-called natural born leader with a flashy Quirk, because that’s what canon essentially boils down to. Any time Katsuki takes the lead, at least in my eyes, it’s less so because he’s a legitimately good leader and more so because the narrative has decided he’s the only one who should be taking charge.
I want Katsuki to improve, even if I personally have given up on the prospect of that happening. The problem starts when the narrative continually insists that Katsuki is more or less in the clear and is totally fine when really, he isn’t.
Izuku needing help is obvious and valid, but Katsuki needing (and getting) help is valid, too. Now if only the narrative could pick up on that.
And as for that last bit of your post… really, I can only speak for myself. As strong as Izuku is, as much as his opinion matters in this entire debacle, I can’t help but feel like Izuku is more blinded by nostalgia more than anything else. He still wants a connection with someone he’s known since childhood, and I can respect that, but the thing is, Katsuki spent nearly a decade telling Izuku, intentionally or otherwise, that he didn’t want the same thing. This continued from the time Izuku tried to help Katsuki out of a river all the way until after the Sludge Villain incident. And society had a hand in that bulls***tery, Katsuki was never the only culprit, but he was still a prominent one. And I don’t know about you, but nearly two years is probably not as long as you’d like to think it is, because that’s how long that it’s been since the overplayed, overrepeated suicide bait. And even ignoring that, two years isn’t enough of a gap between the near decade of societal degradation Izuku had to suffer through.
I don’t hate that Izuku is so forgiving. I hate that Katsuki isn’t willing to accept or consider it in any meaningful capacity. I hate that in a world where Tenya Iida, Shoto Todoroki, Kota Izumi, and even Gentle Criminal exist, that Katsuki has to be the contrarian because of his damn pride. And again, society f***ed up on that end, but that doesn’t stop the fact that Katsuki has actively refused to pursue other options, instead staying on the first and foremost thought of “blast it,” with his Quirk or his voice, unless he’s in combat, in which case it becomes “blast it but don’t be stupid about it.” Because Izuku’s forgiveness has worked before for the benefit of others. What does Katsuki get from Izuku’s forgiveness he doesn’t even fully accept, other than another obstacle he sees that needs to be beaten?
Yeah he’s still 16, yeah he’s a teenager and therefore still has the time to grow proper, but you know who else is 16? Tenya Iida. Shoto Todoroki. Two prickly, borderline asshole characters who also received gradual growth, faced setbacks and proceeded to grow past them. Meanwhile, Katsuki is still just passing the halfway point. I’m not putting that on Katsuki, but if Hori really wanted us to root for him, he shouldn’t have displayed that characters like Tenya and Shoto are able to develop overtime at faster rates than Katsuki can, and as much as I can keep playing the society card, Katsuki wasn’t the only one bombarded with high expectations. Shoto, Tenya, Momo, and potentially Mina all come from backgrounds wherein high expectations were expected of them; Shoto grew up in a confirmed abusive household for crying out loud, and we’ve seen him trying to grow past his issues.
Katsuki has yet to demonstrate anything similar. After Deku vs Kacchan 2, he’s still yelling Izuku’s ears off, or throwing his mask like a ninja star because comedy, or trying to fight a big time villain again because he still actually hasn’t learned to take a loss. Maybe it’s because he internalized most of his self-hatred and projected it onto Izuku so long, but I really can’t say for certain. The change doesn’t have to be night and day, but it can certainly be more substantial than what we’re getting now, and that alone disappoints me. And I’m sorry to say it, but the wait for Katsuki to finally grow beyond his excessive asshole tendencies and graduate to decent asshole is draining on me, and no longer a big contributor to me keeping up with the story (Izuku is a big contributor to that, because I’m basic).
Changing each other probably wouldn’t be advised, but their dynamic and their issues with and independent of one another should still be addressed. I have a big issue with “win to save, save to win” because of this, actually. Katsuki has to give a s*** about people, sure, but Izuku doesn’t need to focus more on winning when he already wins enough as is. It’s a false equivalence that further justifies the worst parts of Katsuki. That obsession with winning, with never falling behind in the eyes of society, only further fuels his need to put others down and push his physical capabilities to the maximum while he puts his emotional spectrum on the backburner. And the “friendship” he has with Izuku isn’t gonna change that, because again, Katsuki’s primary concern is surpassing One for All, surpassing Izuku as the Chosen One. He has yet to display any major concern for Izuku beyond the extent of his Quirk usage in the main series. The closest thing we’ve gotten was a look of shock on his face during Heroes: Rising, and this was in response to Izuku suggesting that he pass One for All.
On that note, Izuku cares about Katsuki, as a person, as a rival, and as a friend, and he has displayed this time and time again. Katsuki has only shown care for Izuku as an obstacle, as a challenge he must overcome and one he wants to overcome without hindrance. He has yet to show any semblance of care for Izuku beyond that with meaningful context, believe it or not. And quite frankly, I’m getting sick of people wanting to bring Katsuki on board just because Izuku is giving him the benefit of the doubt when he arguably hasn’t done anything proper to earn any of Izuku’s trust. I know Izuku’s not weak, I know he’s sound of mind, but Katsuki is not a rational subject for Izuku. He has known this boy since childhood, he has seen what he is capable of, and his optimism keeps him in a favorable light. That is incredibly noble of Izuku, and I commend him for it, but I cannot stand by the decision when Katsuki’s attitude towards Izuku and his actual contributions to Izuku’s journey don’t show anything direct or substantially reflective on Katsuki’s end.
...but that’s just me. The hell do I know anyway?
And if you actually bothered to read this word vomit… thanks.

Stay, Part 1: Chapter 8
Chapter 8: The Text
Katsuki awoke in the infirmary.  He sat up quickly—probably a little too quickly.  His head started pounding in his ears, rhythmically throbbing beneath his temples.  Nausea hit him like a brick wall and he laid back down on the bed.  He groaned loudly.
“Oh good—” a voice said.  “You’re up.”  It was Aizawa.  He was leaning against the adjacent wall, his arms crossed.  His top section of his hair was pinned back slightly, but the bottom portion waterfalled past his shoulders. Next to him, sat Shinsou.  A small pop from a spark upon seeing him left his hands and before he could control it, Aizawa stopped him.  An uncomfortable silence filled the room before Aizawa said, “We should all talk this out.”
Shinsou didn’t look at him.  Katsuki saw a red blinking light from an ankle bracelet, wrapping itself around the top of his foot.  To Katsuki, it wasn’t enough.  “Go fuck yourself.” Katsuki covering his face with his arm.  Just because people couldn’t see Shinsou’s hallucinations didn’t mean that people couldn’t hear him.  That was all too apparent now that Katsuki had confessed to not just the class, but Izuku.  Izuku knew how he felt now.  With Aizawa, his quirk wouldn’t work.  He pictured blasting Shinsou through the walls of the infirmary.  “I fucking hate you.”
“Yeah.” was all Shinsou said, rubbing the back of his neck.  “You really have a strong quirk.” He held up his voice changer.  It dangled lifelessly, most of its parts being shattered.
“We were told that Shinsou’s been putting you to sleep so you wouldn’t go after Kirishima.” Aizawa said.  Katsuki wasn’t looking at them, but felt his quirk return and an intense heat filled his chest.  He sat up in the bed, and hugged his legs, trying to muffle any sound that came from his hands.  “But making illusions like that is dangerous and the use of a quirk to make such things is completely illegal.  Instead of calling the police, Shinsou is on punishment from the school and will receive the punishment to its full extent.  This time.”
It made sense.  Camie’s situation was similar—the law prohibited illusionists from overuse of their quirk in that manner.  In the wrong hands, it could be incredibly dangerous and Katsuki could understand why. Shinsou wasn’t dangerous to Katsuki and in fact, Katsuki had barely saw him as a threat.
Until now.
“I owe you an apology—,” Shinsou started, but Katsuki interrupted him.
“Don’t apologize.” growled Katsuki.  “I don’t want anything from you.”
Aizawa exhaled loudly.  “I have class in ten minutes.” He moved to leave, but as he walked out of the room, he told them, “Behave.”
When Aizawa left, the boys sat there, once again in an awkward silence. “Don’t you have class, too?” Katsuki asked, attempting to push him out.
But Shinsou shook his head.  “No.  The teachers wanted me to talk things out with you.  But I don’t really see us getting anywhere, uh, civil.”
Katsuki sat at the edge of the bed, looking down at his feet.
“I didn’t think you’d actually say anything.” Shinsou said. “You usually don’t say a whole lot. I’m, uh, not sure if it’ll help, but Midoriya caught you before your head hit the ground and he—well, he held you. He wouldn’t let anyone touch you and eventually Aizawa had to pull him off of you.”
“He—wait, he held me?” The fucking nerd would do something like that.
“Yeah.  Anyone that tried to get remotely close to you, he’d just hold you tighter.” he chuckled, but the air was still too serious for Katsuki to laugh.
“He would fucking do that for anyone, it doesn’t mean anything.”
“I think it means he’s willing to protect you.  And I’m not really like an expert on this or anything but—,” Shinsou looked away and at the ground.  “That’s some form of love, right?”  He got up to leave, but turned around and said, “I know Midoriya is anxious to talk to you.”  And with that he left.
Katsuki sat on the edge of his bed.  He was anxious to talk to Izuku as well.
---
Katsuki spent the next couple hours in the infirmary, not really wanting to go to class.  When the nurse told him Yoyo was in the hallway to see him, Katsuki nodded.
“Quite the rumors you got flooding around the school about you.” Yoyo said, coming into the infirmary, sitting down next to him on the bed. He wrapped his arms around Katsuki’s shoulders.  Normally, Katsuki would have pushed someone away, but in this moment, he welcomed the embrace.  “Why don’t you tell me what really happened?  You know, so I can set people straight!”
Yoyo let him go and Katsuki told him everything about Izuku. Including all his thoughts about Izuku holding him, luring him to sleep, taking showers with him, and all of his fantasies.  “Dayyyy-um, you’re really falling hard for the guy, huh?”
“Yeah.” Katsuki said, continuing to tell Yoyo about how he’d asked Shinsou to put him to sleep and the illusions associated with Shinsou’s quirk. He then told Yoyo how Shinsou had used his weakness against him in training.
“It makes sense why you were acting up the way you were.” Yoyo said.  “LGBTQ kids have a harder time adjusting, especially when they were told to be a certain way for their entire life.  I know it isn’t easy and I’m sorry.” Yoyo clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth, creating a loud POP. “Have you talked to Midoriya?  I’m sure he has some things to say to you as well.”
“Not yet.”  Katsuki thought about it.  Did he want to talk to Izuku?  He wasn’t sure.  There had been so much growing in head between the two of them that he wasn’t sure if there was actually anything between them in reality.  A lot of it was just fantasy. He didn’t even know if Izuku would be open to anything.
“I think it’d be a good idea.” Yoyo told him.
But he nodded, almost agreeing with Yoyo, who clapped excitedly and he winked at Katsuki.  “So!” Yoyo said, when the door closed.  “I think we should take a day and go into town.  It’s Friday, so I could come by your dorm and get you.  It might get your mind off things to go out.”
“Not really my thing.” Katsuki said, but changed his mind almost exactly when those words left his lips.  “Actually, yeah.  Why the hell not?”
Yoyo put a hand on Katsuki’s shoulder.  “Regardless of what happens, I just want you to know how proud I am of you.  I know how hard it is to come out.  My coming out was a part of this underground fighting cult.”
“Wait—,” Katsuki said.  “Did—did you say underground fighting?”  He remembered what the teachers had said about where Kirishima might be.  Yoyo nodded at the question.  “Like a yakuza group?”
Yoyo stared at him and in a hushed voice said, “Yeah.” He told Yoyo about Kirishima.  “They hate heroes, so it’s unlikely that they would allow students from U.A. or Shiketsu to leave.  I’m—” he sighed.  “I guess I should tell you to set your mind at ease.  As a part of my work study, I’m helping them take down these groups.  I haven’t heard anything about a kid with a hardening quirk, but I’ll ask around.”
“Where are they?” Katsuki asked.
Yoyo blinked a few times.  It looked like he was considering saying something, but then shook his head:  “I’m not going to tell you that.  Only because I know that look in your eyes.”  He sighed heavily. “I-I don’t want to give you any false hope, but depending on how strong your friend’s quirk is depends on how far they’ll make it.  I’ve—,” he looked at his feet.  “I’ve seen plenty of people not make it out alive.”
Katsuki shook his head.  “Kirishima’s strong.”  He didn’t mention Camie, but thinking about it made the nausea come back.  He took a deep breath, holding it in.  He counted to 10 and released it.
Yoyo placed his hand on Katsuki’s chin and lifted his gaze. “Don’t worry about it.  Just—do us all a favor and talk to Midoriya.  Hopefully, I’ll have some information about Kirishima. I’ll be at your dorm tomorrow to pick you up.”
Katsuki was grateful.  Kirishima was incredibly strong, but against someone who has distance combat?  Stop thinking that way, he’ll be fine.  Still, it made Katsuki wonder, “What’s your quirk?”
Yoyo smiled.  “It’s called Voodoo.  I can stitch up a doll and as long as you touch it, I have complete physical control over you.”
Katsuki’s eyes widened.  “Damn.  Seems like a villain’s quirk.”
“You’re one to talk, Lord Explosion Murder—oh, don’t look at me like that—,” Katsuki’s eyes fired up, but Yoyo said, “Ugh, I have to go to strategy combat training.  As if I don’t know enough about that already.” He got up and winked at Katsuki.  “Talk to Midoriya.  I’m dying to know what happens.  See you tomorrow!”
The door closed and Katsuki was alone.  He should talk to Izuku, but his mind replayed, the words, “I love you, Deku” released from his lips.  He went over to his backpack and found his phone.  Sitting on the edge of the bed, he looked through it, trying to find a distraction.  He shocked to see nearly a fifty text messages.  He scrolled through a few of them, specifically looking for a text from Kirishima, but he still hadn’t read Katsuki’s message.
Katsuki found a message from Kaminari: Blink twice if you’re still alive.  Katsuki smiled—he had said that to Kaminari after an intense training session— “Moron, blink twice if you’re alive or I’ll blast you again!”  Kaminari had twitched slightly.  When reading the text, Katsuki responded with two: ** to make sure Kaminari knew he was okay.
He scrolled through a couple of the other messages, but found that Camie didn’t text him either.
But Izuku had.
His heart pounded as he opened up the message.  Surprisingly, it wasn’t too long.  He had seen Izuku write notes that would make doctoral theses look short.  He took a deep breath, deciding that whatever it said wouldn’t break him apart.  He was strong and if not Izuku, then there was certainly someone out there for him.
The text read: Hi, Kacchan.  Hope you’re feeling better.  We should definitely talk when you wake up, but I’ll give you your space to figure things out.  I know you’d prefer that.  Let me know when you’re ready.
He read it.  Over and over and over.  He made sure he read it correctly.  He read it word for fucking word.  Line by fucking line, dissecting every letter in that text.  He reread it again and again.  He put the phone down and picked it back up, reread it one last time.
Without thinking, he left the infirmary.  Bare chested, he walked through the campus before he picked up his pace.  His walk turned into a jog, his jog turned into a run.  He was in full sprint by the time he got to the 2-A Dorm.  Breathing heavy, he busted through the front doors. Tokoyami was the first person he saw on the couches, and Katsuki picked him up by the scruff of his neck. Tokoyami immediately drew Dark Shadow and Katsuki shouted, “I’m not here to fight you, Bird Shit, where the hell is Deku?”
Dark Shadow was the one who responded, “His room?”  Katsuki dropped Tokoyami, running down the hall to push open the door to the stairs.  He ran to the second level and thought about blasting the door down, but just before he did, he stopped.  He was in front of Izuku’s door.  This was it. Katsuki had so much he wanted to say. No more running away from it.  He loved Izuku.
His body moved on impulse and knocked.  He heard some rustling inside, his heart pounding loudly in his ears, beating hard against his chest.  The door opened so slowly he could hear the hinge squeaking.  Katsuki dared not breathe as he came face to face was Izuku.  They were so close, Katsuki could count the freckles on his face.  He tried so hard to avoid his gaze earlier, but now, he wanted nothing more than to look into his green eyes.  They calmed him and he exhaled a hot breath.  He totally forgot how to speak, but then saw the smile lines form around Izuku’s eyes.
Izuku made the first move.  He moved forward and wrapped his arms around Katsuki’s waist, pinning Katsuki’s arms to his side so tightly Katsuki thought his ribs were going to snap. His breathing was still pretty irregular from almost tripping up the stairs, but suddenly slowed when he heard, “I was so worried about you, Kacchan.”  The words were quiet, a small whisper into Katsuki’s chest.  The hug was surprisingly hard, but affectionate. Katsuki rested his face atop Izuku’s crown, whose hair pillowed Katsuki’s head.  This was the first time Katsuki even noticed that neither one of them was wearing a shirt. Izuku was colder than Katsuki expected and with a slightly hum, Katsuki warmed his chest.
“Fuck, nerd.  Can I get some air to breathe?” Katsuki asked.  He tried to make it sound flirty, but it came out as rough and aggressive.
Still, Izuku released him, giggling a little.  Katsuki wondered why he never noticed Izuku closed his eyes when he laughed.  “Deku. I have to tell you something.”
“Me first, Kacchan.” Deku said.  “Not here.” He whispered and smiling, he gestured to the few students who had poked their heads out of their rooms to listen on the conversation.
Katsuki sparked his hands and yelled, “I swear to God, if you fucking dumbasses don’t get the fuck out of here—,” but he felt a tug on his pants and was pulled into Izuku’s room.  Izuku pushed Katsuki against the desk with an “oof!” and Izuku kicked the door closed.  Izuku didn’t turned around, still looking at Katsuki and leaned against the door.  Katsuki heard the click of the lock.
Izuku closed his eyes for a moment and inhaled deeply.  “We have to talk.”
Katsuki looked around the room.  It was so different than his All Might fanboy room last year.  Now, it was simplified, with a bed in the corner, a desk next to it, resting against the back window.  A tall bookshelf leaned against the wall adject to Katsuki. Centered in the room was a bit of workout equipment.  Nothing like what Kirishima had (he had basically a whole gym), but just some weights. The room was a little smaller than Katsuki’s, but if it was the same as Kirishima’s room, then the bathroom was bigger. There was still an All Might poster on his wall above his bed and Katsuki smiled.  Things weren’t so different.  “So talk, nerd.”
“Right.  Okay.” Izuku walked up to him.  “I have a few questions.  Number one: are you sick?”
“Am I…” Katsuki started, but then shook his head. “No?  Listen, Deku, I read your text in the infirmary—,”
“Number two: are you brainwashed?  Like is someone controlling you or your brain?  Like Shinsou’s quirk, but maybe something scarier?”
Katsuki blinked slowly.  This was not how this was supposed to go.  “How the fuck would I answer that—?”  but looking at Izuku’s face, he quickly said, “No.  But your text—,”
“No, wait, you’re right!” Izuku pondered for a moment.  He walked over to Katsuki, grabbing his waist, getting on the tops of his toes and whispered into Katsuki’s ear, “What is my quirk called?”
Is was not how Katsuki pictured this conversation going.  “I just told you, I’m not fucking brainwashed—are you serious?” he paused when Izuku face said, ‘Tell me!!’  “Fucking hell, Deku, I just want to—okay, fine.” He leaned forward and whispered back, “One-For-All.  All Might gave it to you because,” he brushed Izuku’s curls out of his face and rested his hand on Izuku’s cheek.  Katsuki might have been dreaming, but he could have sworn Izuku leaned his face into his hand slightly.  “He gave it to you because you rushed to save me.”
“Last question.” Izuku said, pushing himself off of Katsuki. They locked eyes.  Chills rans down Katsuki’s spine as Izuku asked him, “When Shinsou brainwashed you, you said you loved me.  Do—do you really love me, Kacchan?”
Katsuki closed his eyes.  He’d waited so long to tell him that he did.  That he’s always loved him.  That he wished he could have told him sooner.  “I think I’ve loved you forever, Deku.”  He bent down, using two fingers to lift Izuku’s chin so their eyes could meet.
And for a moment, their lips touched in a soft, tender kiss.

If it wouldn’t be too much trouble can I request Izuku comforting a fuller figured female reader? I’ve had a few people say some nasty things about my body lately. Thank you so much and I really love your blog! 💕💕💕
HERE YOU GO MY LOVE I HOPE YOU LOVE IT SJDG
ALSO THIS IS FOR A GOOD FRIEND HENCE THE MORE SPECIFIC WORDING MY DUDES
There are many things Izuku Midoriya doesn’t understand and, noticeably, women are one of them. Now he doesn’t think of his inability to talk to a female in a “Ugh, women are impossible!” way, but more of a “Oh god, how am I even in the presence of such a goddess.” type of way. Well, maybe that’s not how he thought of every girl he crossed paths with, but when it came to you, it felt like ‘goddess’ wasn’t even nearly a strong enough word to describe his admiration.
Izuku couldn’t really say it was ‘love at first sight’, but…well, maybe it was, but at first he honestly didn’t see his blossoming feelings for you as having any romantic decent. In his eyes, your quirk was incredible and something that peaked his interest, so naturally he wanted to learn more. It didn’t take him long to make a page in his notebook for you, as he had done for a few others in your class, however as time went on he started to realize he had written things down that had nothing to do with your quirk or fighting style. There were little things scribbled down like ‘Favorite color purple? Or maybe blue’ or other little descriptive things about you as a person rather than you as a fighter, and the strangest thing was that he didn’t even remember writing these things down.
Since he couldn’t quite figure it out, he decided to push his concerns to the back of his brain and just pay more attention when he was taking down notes on you, but those notes became slowly less frequent until he realized he often wasn’t staring at you to gain information, he just couldn’t take his eyes off of you. You were beautiful of course, he didn’t need to study you for long to know that, but you were more than just a stunning figure with curves he’d murder to hold close. You were always so kind and vibrant with a smile that shown like no other in his eyes. You seemed to always be willing to put others first and your friendliness was well received by everyone who met you. Despite being generally loved by most, he knew now that you were like a magnet who could draw anyone in, but it seemed his heart didn’t stand a chance even more so than anyone else.
When he finally did realize how hard he had fallen for you, talking to you became even more nerve wracking than before. Every smile sent his way made his face feel hot and every time his name fell from your lips in an excited manner before you delivered your morning hug, he thought his heart would explode as he returned the favor with shaky limbs. He was in love, maybe it was some childish teenage ‘naive’ love, but it was a love just as strong as any other. The only problem with coming to terms with his feelings, however, was that now he couldn’t hide behind excuses of just being intrigued by your quirk. When he wasn’t focused on training or studying, his brain and heart were constantly at war, his brain telling him to just forget it because there was no way a girl like you would like him back while his heart urged him to let his emotions flow free and just take a leap of faith.
Because of this turmoil, however, he was so distracted whenever he was around you that he didn’t realize that recently you had been acting a little strange. Of course this ‘strangeness’ showed through you being a little less talkative and your smile not being as present as usual, but when he realized that you had stopped hugging him along with your other close friends every morning, he knew something wasn’t right. Once he realized that, he began to watch you a bit more closely and he noticed everything else that had been off about you as well. Part of him thought that maybe he should just leave you be as he didn’t want to seem pushy or like he was overreacting, but then again he realized it wouldn’t hurt to just ask if he could do anything to help.
Luckily it was usually pretty easy to spot you in a crowd considering your height, so after school that day he was pretty quick to make his way through the crowd of people leaving the school until he was by your side.
“(Name)! Can I..could I borrow you for a second? Or ask you a question I guess.” God, all this time and he still couldn’t say a single sentence to you without stumbling over his words.
“Oh..hey Midoriya. Yeah, go ahead.”
The way you said his name, and his last name at that, without the presence of a bubbly tone and sparkling smile made his heart ache a bit, but that just gave him all the more reason to figure out what was going on. He awkwardly took a few steps over so the two of you could be off to the side and away from possibly prying ears. Honestly, he didn’t really have an exact plan for what he wanted to say, but if he sat here and thought about it too much he’d just get nervous, so he decided to just go for it.
“I know it’s probably none of my business, and you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to..but I wanted to ask if everything’s okay!”
For a moment you felt bad, your first thought being that the worried look on his face didn’t suit him. You didn’t think your attitude had really gotten all that bad due to some recent events, but it must have been noticeable enough if your friends had noticed, and Izuku was the last one you wanted to worry. You had feelings for him, there was no doubt there, and the last thing you wanted to do was scare him away with your insecurities.
“Oh..” You trailed off, trying to figure out the best way to explain things.
In all honesty, things really hadn’t been okay. You knew you weren’t the thinnest of girls, and you had even started to come to terms with being a bit more curvy, your friends endless stream of kind comments always helping to fuel your self esteem. Unfortunately, with the light always came the dark and lately it seemed the few negative snide remarks you did hear, even if they were just from notorious assholes around school, beat you down more than the compliments could lift you up. They were all you could think about and the mirror quickly became something you avoided. Every time one of your friends even just barely made contact with you, you got nervous, the idea of someone being able to feel your body turning you away from any form of contact.
On the bright side you knew it would pass, you’d had these feelings before and you had enough support in your life to get you up on your feet again eventually, but it was still shitty enough to make a noticeable decline in your mood. Because you now knew your change in attitude was clear to see, you couldn’t really lie to Izuku, but you wouldn’t want to lie to him anyways, so with a heavy sigh and a smile that screamed ‘guess I’ve been caught, huh’ you decided to spill your guts.
“I dunno…Hm, you know how sometimes you always beat yourself up about Kacchan being “better” than you?” You asked while staring straight down at your feet, “I guess it’s…kinda like that but with my appearance.. it’s not bad but..people talk, y’know..” You stopped, taking a deep breath to keep yourself from crying while you gently squeezed at your hips so you wouldn’t have to flat out say what it was you had been feeling insecure about.
For a moment you didn’t hear a peep out of the boy who stood before you and you were starting to think you had freaked him out by sharing your feelings so easily, but before you had the chance to look up from your feet to gauge his response you felt two hands grip your forearms. When you did finally allow your eyes to meet his own, he had a look on his face that reminded you of the first time he had faced Bakugou in battle: fierce and determined.
“(Name).” He stated sternly, “You’re…really amazing.”
That wasn’t…really what you were expecting and it seemed seeing the confusion on your face broke him out of his serious trance as he continued to explain awkwardly while taking his hands off of you.
“I-I just mean..you’re just really kind and funny…and everyone loves you, and even on top of that you’re so beautiful! I don’t know how someone could ever live with saying whatever they said to you, but they’re wrong! Maybe that won’t mean much coming from me but…yeah.”
It wasn’t until you looked down again, though this time with a soft blush and a smile gracing your features, that he began to get flustered himself, realizing he’d finally said some of the things he’d always wanted to say, but in reality he had so much more he could have said.
“That’s kind of weird isn’t, sorry for being creepy, you’re just- Well I-“
“Thank you, Izuku.” You said honestly. Maybe it was specifically what he had said, or the fact that he even cared at all, or maybe your crush was more significant than you thought, but his kind words really did make your heart beat faster and help clear the depressed fog that had been clouding your brain a bit.
“O-Oh…it was no big deal.” He mumbled, his cheeks turning pink as he scratched at the back of his head awkwardly. He had already done something he never would have been able to do if it weren’t for the adrenaline rush caused by his constant urge to make you happy, so he might as well ride the confidence train for a little bit longer..right?
“(Name) I know it might not be a great time, but I’ve been wanting to ask if you’d want to go out with me some time!”
Now if his kindness hadn’t surprised you already, this definitely would have. He was right about it being an awkward thing to ask considering the serious topic you had just been on, but it was just so sweet and you couldn’t deny the blatant heat fanning over your cheeks as you nodded with a bit too much excitement.
“I would really like that!” You exclaimed, and you were glad to see his eyes light up with just as much excitement, but as he opened his mouth to speak again he was cut off by his friends calling for him from somewhere off a bit behind you. With one last smile he bid you an awkward goodbye, saying he’d get your number from you the next day, but before you turned to be on your own way you stopped him one last time.
“Izuku?” You called out to him, hoping he’d hear your voice over the rest of the students still exiting the building.
“Thank you again.”

idk why people shy away from this interpersonal clusterfuck when it’s so genuinely interesting and refreshing to see in a series
like it’s fucking obvious izuku loves katsuki. but i say that in any context and there’s this GUT WHIPLASH REACTION like bruh im fucking aro and in my 20s do u really think i’m in the position to start slappin teenagers together like that cmon
but sure as shit i know love when i see it and it’s all sorts of good and bad and painfully realistic except ramped up to 56098432
and there’s so much unsaid, so much context we haven’t gotten, and it raises so so many questions and it’s driving me nuts and i love it
katsuki is afraid of izuku because of his own failings but is getting significantly better after screamcrying that one time
izuku has likely been this way forever and will continue to be this way forever but now he feels JUSTIFIED because the power dynamic has completely self-destructed and what does he want? he wants to be on par with katsuki. wants to be the one at his level and wants that fucker to take his hand jesus christ bakugou pull your shit together stop slapping his hand away
but katsuki’s workin his own garbage out and manages to say Words to izuku that aren’t shrieking and exist in the same room together and even give advice and ask about his progress in that usual bravado he just does. and izuku’s fucking face. you look at that boy and you tell me he doesn’t love every goddamn second of that progress.
as a final note here are my outstanding questions i need answered or i’ll die:
1. why does izuku go batshit towards literally everyone who is not katsuki (sub question: HAS KAT SEEN THIS SHIT POINTED IN HIS DIRECTION BEFORE? or is it just because izuku wouldn’t do that to him specifically)
2. why does king explosion murder allow the “kacchan” nickname at all times without so much as a twitch? he lashes out if anyone else uses it. for all his hatred of izuku (haha) allowing the cutest little kid name is just. so grossly out of character for him unless you assume there is History and katsuki isn’t against it enough to bother fighting it. (YOU KNOW IZUKU WOULD STOP CALLING HIM THAT IF HE TOLD HIM TO. YOU KNOW HE WOULD TRY)
3. what the fuck happened in all of those middle school years. we saw exactly like. two? three scenes total? even katsuki’s posse were like “dude that was too far aren’t you childhood friends” when he told izuku to take a swan dive. izuku is afraid and i would be too in his position like shit. he has the entire world against him and kacchan’s head is lodged firmly up his own ass. but what the fuck happened between him and katsuki specifically for izuku  to still be so unflinchingly loyal and want to be at his side no matter how many times kat is like “get the fuck away from me”
4. izuku. what is your damage. why are you like this

BnHA Chapter 202: Rival Break and the 3rd Set
Previously on BnHA: Momo made a giant cannon and used it to fire a bag of emergency supplies over the onomatopoeia wall back to her pals. The bag contained some fungicide which Tokoyami and Hagakure doused themselves with to ward off Toadette’s horrific quirk. It also contained a pair of night vision goggles which Toko used to track down Toadette and Kuroiro. For a moment it looked like he had them both contained, but then Toadette sprouted some mushrooms in Toko’s fucking windpipe, cutting off his air supply and causing him to release them. Meanwhile Kendou showed up to rescue Manga from Hagakure’s flurry of invisible attacks. She’d managed to knock Momo out, but not before Momo sprouted a bunch of steel cables from her left side to tie Kendou up and attach herself to her while she herself was still attached to the giant cannon. So basically she slowed her way down, and tbh they would have had this if Hagakure and Tokoyami (and Aoyama, who got captured before any of them) hadn’t dropped the ball. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. But anyway, so the round went to B Team, and now the classes are tied and we’re about to move into the third round.
Today on BnHA: Since Momo and Kendou’s teams absolutely trashed the battlefield, Aizawa and Vlad announce a short break before the start of round 3. All Might takes Deku aside and asks him if things are all right with his quirk. Deku says he’s fine, only to be interrupted by Kacchan who’s all THE FUCK ARE Y’ALL DOING HAVING THIS WEIRD CONVERSATION SO CONSPICUOUSLY and he makes them fill him in. Kacchan’s response to the whole OFA situation is to basically egg Deku on to become stronger already, and it fucking works is the thing, so y’all know this one-page conversation is easily the most “!!!!” I’ve been about this series in fucking ages omg. But anyways, so then round 3 starts up with Team TetsuPonyHoneSen VS Team TodoIidaShoujiRo. Shouto briefly thinks back to when he was like six fucking years old and Endeavor was trying to teach him a new fire technique by being an abusive dick. Shockingly this method didn’t pan out, but Shouto’s been thinking about it again recently since watching his dad battle the Noumu at Fukuoka. Meanwhile Iida is hyped to win since he’s representing his brother as the successor to the Ingenium name. And Tetsu is also hyped because he’s always fucking hyped! So basically everyone is getting ready to do their best and this should be good!
(As always, all comments not marked with an ETA are my mostly-unspoiled reactions from my first readthrough of this chapter. I’m caught up with the manga now at chapter 223, so any ETAs will reflect that.)
oh wow Toadette is actually offering Tokoyami a throat lozenge like I was joking about earlier. haha. only the reason it was a joke on my part is because I thought it was fairly obvious that a fucking lozenge wasn’t exactly going to do much to help after you sprouted fucking mushrooms all along the inside of his goddamn windpipe! these kids are fucking savages I swear to god. they’re out for blood
anyways he’s still coughing and hacking and she’s telling him to go see Recovery Girl before this turns into one of those hanahaki fics
meanwhile Momo also appears to be ill after using her quirk as much as she did, and she’s shaking and doesn’t seem to be able to stand, so two sarcastic asshole robots are wheeling her off to RG as well
Tumblr media
yeah I’m gonna need you two to shut up. were they specifically programmed to be douches? this is someone’s idea of a joke isn’t it
anyways I hope my girl Momo is gonna be okay. Kendou go with her please!
Shinsou’s all “wow everyone got really fucked up” and Aizawa’s just like “yeah that’s just how it goes with hero training” as though this is in any way acceptable lol. well I guess it’s been a little while since U.A. did anything outrageously irresponsible though, so maybe we can cut them some slack this time around. plus ultra?
(ETA: nope I take it back. within three chapters all four teachers will be idly standing by shrugging their shoulders and hoping none of the kids fucking burn to death by accident. lesson learned, never ever cut the U.A. faculty any slack whatsoever.)
btw I almost forgot to mention it but it’s super cute that Shinsou is hanging out next to Aizawa. they have clearly built up some kind of bond by this point, and as usual I’m delighted by any and all instances of Aizawa being a dad
looool
Tumblr media
did I mention that Manga’s quirk is seriously unbelievably strong though?? is there an onomatopoeia for “All for One-destroying weapon” that I don’t know about that he could speak into existence perhaps? hmm?
also smh at these teachers being more concerned with the property damage than with the attempted murder. Tokoyami’s fine by the way. but sure let’s scold them for doing some mild damage to your industrial training site which you specifically created for this very purpose
so apparently they’re going to change the stage? or “move the stage” at any rate? does this mean they’re cleaning up the training ground, or are they moving to one of the other areas? I’m not quite clear here
but at any rate, Vlad says they’re going to take a short break which I’m all for because it means more chances for the kids to interact!
look at them interacting!!
Tumblr media
so I’m just going to assume the two speech bubbles on the right are Kirishima and Tetsutetsu, yes?
also, Manga, I’m gonna need you to stop whining about how your ultra-powerful and crazy broken quirk gives you a sore throat. fuck outta here with that nonsense son. I assume the only reason no one gave OFA to you is because the series would already be over
Deku is happily taking notes on everyone’s growth while Ochako watches, and it’s super fucking cute. I am shipping this more these days now that she’s not losing her damn mind any time she thinks about him and he’s not on the verge of passing out whenever she gets within two feet of him
and now All Might’s coming to say hi to his apprentice!
Tumblr media
are y’all gonna talk some more about the Avatar State. because if you are then I’m the one who’s gonna start taking notes omg
so he’s beckoning Deku over so they can have a quick private chat in the corner
Mina’s all “well aren’t they close~” and I know she’s just making a mild observation, but once again I’m reminded of how these two are just the absolute worst at hiding their secret. like for real though
so All Might’s asking Deku if anything has felt off since their last conversation
and Deku says “nothing in particular”, which is a bit of a curious answer since he could have just gone with a straight “no”
All Might says he’s planning to ask Gran whether or not Shimura ever mentioned anything. I doubt it though, otherwise you’d think he’d have brought it up before now. not everyone is as cagey as you when it comes to passing on vital information
anyways, he says for the time being Deku should take care since he’ll be facing off with Shinsou
and interestingly, he says Shinsou is a piece of the puzzle as far as the Vestiges/Traces are concerned
really? I mean it’s true that Deku first saw them during his initial fight with Shinsou, and now he just so happens to be fighting Shinsou again on the same day that he had that crazy dream. but is that not just a coincidence? how could Shinsou actually be involved with this?
OH MY GOD
Tumblr media
(ETA: speaking of onomatopoeia, Kacchan has his very own complete with exclamation point lol. what happens if Manga uses this. do the letters explode)
KEEP KACCHAN IN THE LOOP 2K19!!!! OH MY GOD YES PLEASE THANK YOU MANGA GODS
holy shit I was wondering if he was gonna get annoyed since he could hardly fail to notice them sneaking off to chat while he was right fucking there
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
OH MY GOD YOU GUYSSSSSS
Tumblr media
IT DID!!!! AND NOW THEY’RE FINALLY GONNA TELL HIM WHEEEEE
Tumblr media
oh my god. Kacchan/Deku rivalry. it has been so fucking long you guys. it’s been 80 fucking chapters!!
things I love:
DON’T KEEP ANY MORE SECRETS FROM KACCHAN ABOUT ONE FOR ALL, HE OFFICIALLY GETS ANNOYED ABOUT IT. HE WANTS TO KNOW SO MAKE SURE YOU KEEP HIM POSTED
for reals though, he’s making sure they remember that he’s part of the OFA squad now. that wasn’t just a one-time thing, he wants to actively be involved. I don’t know if they actually realized this before, but now they’re aware so I hope Deku tells him the next time without having to be asked
also him yelling at them to be more fucking secretive for christ’s sake lol. RIGHT?
and him immediately getting competitive and reminding Deku of what his goals are. they always do this with each other, and it’s honestly so important. the shounen rival relationship is, at its core, one of constant growth. if done right, the two rivals will each be the one person who can always unfailingly push the other when they think they can’t go any further, and nudge the other back on track whenever they start to go astray. and that is so, so important, and it’s especially important for them to keep establishing this relationship now, when for once things are actually calm and there aren’t any villain plots or other angsty things going down for the time being. because this quiet period is not going to last. and there will come a time when Izuku will need this type of push again, when the fate of the world might even depend on it. they help each other to focus and they keep each other grounded, and this shit right here is why it’s my favorite relationship, and I can’t say enough good things about it
lastly, this is fairly subtle, but you can see that this is Katsuki’s way of reassuring him. like, he realized Izuku was... not unsettled, exactly, but certainly confused and still trying to figure out what the hell is going on. so he immediately sets onto distracting him. and I’ve gotten completely distracted by my own excited ramblings and I haven’t even finished the damn conversation yet, but I bet you anything that it worked, too. because that’s the power of rivals, dammit
yeppppp
Tumblr media
I fucking love it you guys. every damn time. this is what keeps sucking me back in. this is why I’m reading. give me some good old fashioned shounen rivals showing their concern for one another in the most indirect way possible and it fucking works
PREACH IT ALL MIGHT!
Tumblr media
NO, HE DEFINITELY IS. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I’M SAYING. SEE, ALL MIGHT GETS IT
like, I don’t really have much more to add other than what I already said, lol. although I will say I’m fairly sure that not only is he not actually pissed off, but he’s actually relieved that Deku did smile, and it was the exact effect he was going for, which is why he called attention to it before immediately trying to play it off like h was mad
anyway, so that was everything to me you guys, but the show must go on, and we are now all set to begin round 3! and it looks like we will be staying in Ground Gamma and that they’ve just relocated to a different part of the stage, or something. idk
Tumblr media
so Sen is the only guy in this round who we haven’t already met, although I don’t think we actually know Pony’s quirk. Honenuki’s quirk is of course the quicksand quirk of cavalry battle fame, and I’m looking forward to seeing that in action again
meanwhile they’re up against these legends!
Tumblr media
once again I can’t for the life of me figure out how they can possibly screw this up. but we know they will somehow! guess they’ll just have to get creative
and now a quick flashback of Tokoyami, who you can tell is feeling better because he’s coming up to Todoroki and just rambling on and on for no real reason
Tumblr media
no you don’t you boob. calm the fuck down man. go eat some ice cream and lie down
well what have we here
Tumblr media
friendly reminder that I ship these two. by this point I think I ship Todoroki with almost as many people as Bakugou and I’m not quite sure how that happened. this boy is more social than I give him credit for
so now Shouto’s thinking back to his dad’s battle against High N’ Tight Noumu
and what’s this?
Tumblr media
the prominence burn thing? or the flying thing? I personally think he ought to learn the flying thing first
and now some flashbacks to Endeavor being abusive
Tumblr media
jesus christ. please tell me Shouto is smoking from his own quirk. please tell me you didn’t actually set your child on fire you utter trashpile of a man
and what the hell is with the shinai? because the fire wasn’t fucking enough??
props to Horikoshi though for showing this. it’s not pleasant to see, but the fact that he doesn’t shy away from it even after starting Endeavor’s redemption arc is really important. none of his past deeds have been erased. he’s not pretending it didn’t happen or that it’s okay now because things are finally starting to get better. it’s such a fucking mess, and I really, really appreciate that we’re being confronted with it even now and nothing is being swept under any proverbial rugs
correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like this is pretty rare for redemption arcs, both in Eastern and Western media. usually once the former bad guy starts down the right path, the story stops addressing those past sins, presumably in the hope that audiences will eventually forget about them. but not only is Horikoshi not doing that, he’s actively showing us the bad shit again in vivid detail, the resulting effect being something like “hey, just in case you forgot...”
anyway, so here’s more confirmation that Todoroki Touya is in fact Dabi
Tumblr media
just fucking confirm it already you cowards. it’s not like you’re trying to hide it; you purposely alluded to it so overtly at the end of the Endeavorhawks arc that no one could possibly fail to miss it. so I really don’t know why you’re playing games with it at this juncture. he must have some sort of plan here but idk
anyway, he says that Shouto is the one, and that he can pass this technique on to him and only him
I wonder if Touya accidentally immolated himself with a failed prominence burn. god I want to know what happened so bad uggghhhh
ahhhhhhh
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they’re so cute omg
Ojiro says he had no idea anything was wrong because Todoroki’s expression “never really changes that much”, and he’s impressed Iida could tell
it’s because they’re lovers, Ojiro! but not really, but do you agree with me that they should be? because if not then I really don’t know why you’re wasting my time here tail boy
Iida’s all “but of course!” and says he’s the class president and is always there to lend a hand to a classmate in need. and sure. but also, lovers
AHHHHHH
Tumblr media
SUDDEN TENSEI MENTION MY HEART WASN’T READYYYY
(ETA: his face is so cute here too oh my god. fucking adorable.)
so now he’s putting on his helmet, and he says he’s also representing Ingenium’s good name
is this in reference to what Tokoyami said earlier about him and Todo representing the #1 and #2 heroes? did your feelings get hurt bud lol
and he’s reminding everyone that he placed third in the sports festival, “so allow me to show you all!”
damn, somebody sure is fired up
Tumblr media
you better watch it son, this enthused 40-year-old nerd is stealing your boyfriend before our very eyes
now we’re cutting to class B!
and Tetsutetsu is also all fired up!
Tumblr media
no one thinks you’re dumb, Tetsu! just passionate!
lol but he is acknowledging that this is one of the less strategically balanced class B teams
but he has a plan to address that!
Tumblr media
kick some ass!!
Tumblr media
yessssssss
and stfu Sen. he has exactly one specialty so of course he’s gonna lean into it. nothing wrong with that
now I’m honestly starting to wonder how he would fare against Todoroki. he might be the only one who could actually stand up to the Prominence Burn attack if it turns out Shouto does have it
...or he might melt. but surely Shouto wouldn’t actually fire a potentially lethal blow during a training exercise... right?
(ETA: ...)
so now Vlad is grumbling about how THEY JUST SAID not to destroy the whole fucking stage, and here Tetsu is, destroying the stage
Tumblr media
nice hero name! but it definitely is a misspelling! I’m sure it’ll be corrected at some point later on though
lol this group is something else
Tumblr media
this is definitely my favorite class B team to date lol. and Honenuki’s personality is in such stark contrast to his somewhat terrifying appearance, who knew
also props to my boy Sen for having the appropriate reaction to being pitted against Todoroki freaking Shouto. though you could have had it worse, bud! it could have been Bakugou or Deku. at least you guys are somehow going to win which I still can’t get over
Tumblr media
lol because it’s literally their only choice given the makeup of their team
well, bring it on!
