I don't usually share my interactive fiction mc's because of my crippling social anxiety BUT I recently played through @disenchantedif (and subbed to Dakota's Patreon, then played it a second time- I'm obsessed y'all, like this was over the course of a day) and I have an extreme urge to share my (first) mc (of many)
(keep in mind, my way of making characters is to randomize every aspect of them and piece them together like a puzzle. I made this specific character using the Sims 4 random genetics challenge and just rolled with it lmfao)

Personality: Em the type of person to take nothing seriously. if there's an opportunity to make a joke out of something, she'll most likely jump at the chance (her and Theodora's powers combined cause Viktor plenty of headaches). she presents herself as very quiet and sweet, but that's all a ruse to hide her true chaos. jokes aside, she's generally very nice towards people she doesn't know. she can hold grudges like no one's business, though, so it's not wise to cross her. she also is not afraid to step on anyone's tails to get what she wants (as long as she's not attached to them) and she's a raging perfectionist. she holds herself to a high standard and gets so disappointed when she doesn't meet it.
she's also the type of person to look out for herself over anyone else. not to say she's completely selfish, she just values her own life more often than not. maybe that has something to do with her fear of commitment and inability to settle down. she's always worried it won't last so she finds herself not even bothering to see it through. Theo and Viktor are probably her longest lasting friendships and she's still worried they'll leave her. after all, that's what happened with Lucien

Pale Arc 3
This arc introduces other practitioners! Before they had only been faceless enemies, not directly confronted, but starting with 2.z we see Nicolette, and in Arc 3 the Kennet Trio begin negotiating and allying with them. At the same time, their relations with the Others have begun to decline, due to increased practitioners, going after the Choir, and the investigation.
With Miss gone, Kennet no longer has a strong leader, and even as the Others are more prone to dispute, the girls have begun setting their own goals and directions. In the first two arcs they approached the Others as students, and if not subordinates, agents of Kennet. In this arc they've moved beyond that, and are taking their places as young practitioners.
If they're to function as a source of justice, as managers and shields from the outside world of practitioners, they need to stand independently as equals, not as novices reliant on following directions. But that doesn't mean that some of the Others wouldn't prefer puppet practitioners for Kennet.
As I commented a few chapters before, I'm interested to see how relations will progress, especially as going to summer school brings them deeper into the world of practitioners.
Theorizing below the cut:
My Hungry Choir theories from 3.5:
The moment of Yalda’s death kicked off the Hungry Choir, somehow (ex: dying curse, karmic backlash)
Yalda’s corpse is powering the Choir inadvertently
Someone is deliberately using Yalda’s corpse to power the Choir
Yalda is alive, ran off, and is running or causing the Choir
Yalda is alive, was captured, and is being used to power the Choir
Yalda is alive, potentially with John, and the Choir is being used to contain her abilities so they don’t spill out into Kennet indiscriminately
Of my six Yalda theories, about half were somewhat right, though not the one that I was most convinced by. Her dying curse was used by someone to power the Choir, which also has Yalda's personality running it. So sort of a fusion beween 1, 3, and 4.
We now know the murder weapon! The Hungry Choir. Looking back at 0.0, I just realized that out of the people who show up at the Arena, the Choir is the only one who wasn't fetched by a goblin. Because they were already there, doing the murder. Also, using the Hungry Choir as a murder weapon is clever, since they're hard to interview.
Actually, now that I think about, being able to defeat the Hungry Choir in a way that lets them question it is an amazing thing. I think whoever masterminded this assumed that any investigators would a) not try to interview the Choir b) try but give up, since the Choir doesn't seem to talk or c) get killed by the Choir. Even at the outside chance that they find a way to defeat the Choir, getting honest answers from Yalda seems unlikely. And in that case, that would leave the being who actually did the murder dead, and the investigation potentially unsolvable. Or the Hungry Choir as the fall guy, taking the blame without saying who ordered them.
Now I want to know who voted against letting the Kennet Trio take action against the Hungry Choir.
Oh! New thought: the best guess people had for who would take CB's place was John Stiles or the Hungry Choir. If the Choir takes it, either whoever created them shores them up as a puppet judge, or counts on the position tearing them apart, thus removing a witness. If it's John, presumably the Yalda connection could be used as leverage.
We also now have a description of the people who created the Choir: an old-seeming but not old man, and a woman. Both masked. Not sure how much to trust this description, considering glamour can alter appearances. It would seem to point to Edith and Charles (especially Charles, given how they ask about summoning once Forsworn. And he can lie). Edith is very very suspicious right now, from the coin and her responses to the interview. Maricica also suspicious, due to the coin and general vibes. Another possibility: Miss. Putting herself in harm's way for Avery gets her points with me, but I could see a convoluted plan where she uses being on the Paths to avoid some rounds of questioning and build trust.
The other major new clue is that, if the Hungry Choir was specifically created for this, the murder of the CB was in the works for at least nine years! Not only does that say something about the mastermind's patience, it changes our range of potential motives. I don't think this could have related to a particular case anymore, unless the court moves really really slowly. Everybody seems to assume this is purely about grabbing that power and position for the mastermind/an ally, and it makes sense, that's the kind of power move I could see waiting that long for. Also could be aiming for destabilization.
So! After this arc, we have a few primary suspects, we have method and arguably means, we just need a motive.

Burst is an odd name, I hope they just let Ace be Flash VI (correct me if my count is off) when it's time for him to graduate from being KF. They've made a point on multiple occasions that they're ALL "the Flash" and that it's something that binds them all together. I do see how it could get confusing, and maybe DC has decided it's just too many people using one title, but if they have to come up with something, pick a better name than Burst. I am digging the black/silver/red combo, though. The red lenses are a little off-putting, but it's a cool suit!

But yes, I agree. Burst is an odd name. I want to hope that it's just the fantasy world being weird because, I mean, look what it's trying to pull on Young Justice, so who knows what it's going to try and pull with Ace. This isn't a written in stone alias at the very least.
But on the other hand, Jeremy Adams already named Jai 'Surge' so..... Yeah.... He would follow through on this kinda thing. He's not the best with names. Apparently he's already picked a new name for Irey but everyone hated it so he's now trying to come up with a different one. Doesn't bode well.
The silver suit has been used before for Ace. It's his 'graduation' suit ie the future suit he's supposed to wear after he graduates from being Kid Flash (which is why he should be called the Flash in this scenario but I digress) It was originally made for a 'bad future' type thing so it's supposed to be an intimidating suit because Ace was wearing it in a wasteland.
But anyway, I'm rambling.
Ace should be a Flash. Not now, but one day.

Newsom’s Newest Gun Safety Measures: What does this Mean to Californians?

This past week governor Gavin Newson added several measures into California law that strengthened control on firearms. These newest additions come as a response to the nation’s 519 mass shootings just this year, including 36 from our own state. [1] This also comes as a result of California’s gun control law regarding banning citizens possessing large-capacity firearm magazines being struck down by the U.S. District Court Judge Benitez. [2]
Several measures were added in addition to current gun regulation laws, including: SB 2, SB 452, AB 28, AB 725, and AB 732. SB abbreviations in law are regarding measures introduced by Senators, versus AB measures being introduced by Assembly members. [3] But what do these terms entail, and what do these mean for Californians?
Senate Bill 2 (SB2) was created by Senator Portantino and is a measure dedicated to strengthening concealed gun permit laws, or CCWs. This bill sets further requirements for obtaining a CCW license for Californians, now setting an age restriction for the carrier to be at least 21 years old. It also defines that those who carry a CCW license must be, “responsible, law-abiding citizens who do not pose a danger to themselves or others”. [4] Further, SB 2 requires more training requirements on guns in regard to storage, loading, and unloading of firearms. Although SB2 is stricter on concealed carry permits, it also permits Californians due process rights and a right to a hearing before a judge if they are said to be a danger and denied their CCW license.
SB 452, authored by Senator Blakespear, mandates licensed gun dealers to only sell semi-automatic pistols that have been micro stamped on their cartridges. Micro stamps are unique identifiers engraved into pistols and shell casings when bullets are fired. [5] It would also make the modification of micro stamped pistols with the intent to remove the micro stamp or alter its function illegal. [6] This was created in order to better trace guns that have been used in crimes. Additionally, SB 452 would require the Department of Justice to create guidelines for micro stamps in their performance standards. This will go into effect at the start of 2027.
AB 28, also known as the Gun Violence Prevention and School Safety act, was created by assembly member Gabriel and increases taxation on firearms and ammunition sold in the state. The taxation is 11%, which is in addition to the federal 10-11% tax. [7] This additional tax will be collected in the Gun Violence Prevention and School Safety fund and would be used in support of gun violence prevention response, education, and research programs. [8] Approximately 2.4 million dollars will be allocated to implement these measures, and this act almost doubles the current gun tax in California. This is set to commence at the start of July 2024.
AB 725 was authored by assembly member Lowenthal and expands on the existing law that mandates reporting a lost or stolen gun to law enforcement. Under AB 725, what counts as a firearm that needs to be reported is now inclusive to receivers or frames of the weapon or any firearm precursor part, such as the machined body of a gun. This is a gun safety protection against “ghost guns”, or privately made guns that are sent to buyers in parts and assembled separately. These guns are not serialized and hard to track, and AB 725 further strikes down on “ghost guns” that are hard to track down in crimes and criminal markets. This measure is to be put into effect as of the start of July of 2026. [9]
AB 732, introduced by assembly member Fong amends current law regarding gun relinquishment. Current law states that any felon or those guilty of certain misdemeanors are not allowed to purchase or possess firearms. However, with AB 732, defendants not in custody are now to be required to relinquish their firearms. Further, after a warrant request has been submitted by the court, probation officers in charge of the defendant are to search and remove any firearms if the court has probable cause that they did not relinquish their guns. [10] It would also prohibit the law agency that took the firearms from selling the relinquished weapons.
As previously mentioned, these measures tighten gun control significantly in response to this year’s California shootings, specifically the deadly shootings in Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay. Govenor Newsom reasons that he is defending Californians in their right to protect themselves from gun violence. “California’s gun death rate is 43% lower than the rest of the nation. These new laws will make our communities and families safer,” Newsom states. [11]
