Just had a thought,
What if Senju reminds us so much of young Mikey is because she tries to imitate him? Her every action and way of fighting is deliberate, made with a sole thought process of what Mikey is?
No, this is not the shipper in me talking rather I have a feeling this is for Haruichiyo.
Now, this might get a bit messy and my thought process is all over the place, so forgive me if it turns out to be confusing.
When we first meet her – she explains her sole objective is to take down Mikey and in turn Kanto Manji Gang. As we move further into the manga, we also get to know that her current Vice-President is her eldest brother and the current Vice-President of KMG is her second brother. There are still many mysteries around these siblings – so I think Senju had rightfully called themselves as the “Three Mysterious Siblings” (Ch 216)
Tumblr media
In the same chapter we also get to know this – even after all these years, Senju is hung up on her second brother – him not acknowledging her, even if Takeomi supports her, Sanzu is not interested in Brahman or regarding her as the leader. She had a wishful gaze as she explained that to Takemitchi. (Sad?)
The recent chapter (ch 263) we also saw that Sanzu had an air of admiration towards Mikey (ripped mouth or not); That means in current timeline (2008) it’s been almost seven eight years of Sanzu obsessing over Mikey. I think when this phase started, he started neglecting everyone who was not upto Mikey’s standard. Since Mikey was taken by Strong individuals then, Sanzu also only acknowledged those who were strong (probably).
Ch 241 states Sanzu was the one who spent most time with Senju; with Takeomi telling him to set good examples for her to follow, even though he got scolded for that sometimes – he was still nice to her. Idk how many people can relate to this, but we all have one favourite sibling we are closest to; we share everything with them and forgive for anything that they do wrong – I think for Senju that sibling was sanzu. She admired him, loved him and wanted him to be with her always.
We saw how derailed Takeomi was after Black Dragons disbanded, it’s okay to say he was not much around, she had only Sanzu to cling onto.
So, when things started to go astray and Sanzu’s admiration towards Mikey grew to the point where he left his sister (Again, I don’t think the whole plane incident was the only reason for their estrangement) – From the way Senju saw it, only Mikey or someone Mikey-like will be able to get Sanzu’s attention.
She started with Strength – Practicing and fighting with Waka and Benkei; thinking of starting her own gang. Trying to look like Mikey.
But her most physical appearances have also resembled early 2005 Mikey, before thing’s started to actually go down the hill for him. I think this is also because, Senju only interacted with Mikey when they were younger, when he didn’t have to shoulder deaths of his siblings and friends.
I think she kept tabs on Toman for a while – don’t know for how long though. But it was definitely till Sanzu became Vice-captain of 5th Division. From where I see it, there was a time when even Mikey had no handle on Sanzu, making Senju worry about his well-being and that made her keep an eye out for him and in turn for Toman. But when he settled into the role of Vice-captain, she kinda stopped? Or had other things to deal with maybe (most likely starting Brahman).
So, when we encounter her in in 2008, the info she has about Toman is that it disbanded, and Mikey instead started KMG – Brahman was a part of this from the start.
But in spite of her trying hard, being regarded as someone who could stand on the same plane as the “Invincible Mikey”; she still failed to get Sanzu to notice her. I think one of the reasons to join Toman 2.0, apart from Takemitchi convincing her, was also to have a chance to talk with Sanzu and get her brother back.
Tumblr media
She tried to talk him out of fighting, ready to lose the fight, to leave the whole sibling rivalry thing, but we know what went down after this (I really wanted to snap at sanzu here the way mitsuya did with Taiju that time)
Because, honestly, the more I look at senju, the more she looks and sounds like Mikey (at the same time not, she has this distinct characteristic about her that I just can’t place but it’s there that makes her unique in her own way, but that’s beside the point)
Anyway, that about sums it up.
Toodles!

what people don't get about hualian is that they're literally like. jock and alternative art student. xie lian lives like a frat boy (mattress on the floor and nothing else in his room, no standards for his own well-being, can't cook and ends up eating what could be classified as biohazards) and is really enthusiastic about fighting as a hobby. meanwhile hua cheng rocks up to the function in his cunty little outfits every day of the week, bells on his boots and the red eyeliner slayed, obviously has taste but is soooo in love with his boyfriend who only ever wears cargo shorts and the most fucked up questionable hoodies you've ever seen. hua cheng wants xie lian to have nice things but it's always like. "babe i promise it's no trouble can we please get you a bedframe??" nd xie lian is obviously so enamored with his cool alt boyfriend who wears skirts sometimes and never misses a beat on a bitchy comment that's just the way it is. basically if your hualian concept doesn't have hua cheng as the hot goth gf you just don't get it

One of my favorite obscure fic concepts for the mdzs fandom are the ones where Jin Zixuan does some math on his head, decides he's now Wei Wuxian's stepdad and must take responsibility for him. It makes sense too, Jiang Yanli was the best parent her little brothers could have asked for (pour one out for my parentified oldest daughter tho), but since her family situation was what it was she ended up babying Wei Wuxian a bit more, nothing too harmful, she just doted on him a bit more than she did Jiang Cheng (not to say she didn't dote on Jiang Cheng, but bro would not have enjoye getting the exact same treatment as Wei Wuxian on this one), it's not a strech to say she's most likely the closest thing to a mother figure Wei Wuxian had ever since his own died. Enter Jin Zixuan, who now realizes he became a stepdad to a grown ass man overnight, he's not gonna back down tho, he'll earn that best dad mug goddamn it (and if Wei Wuxian screams "You're not my dad" at the least once like some emo kid rebelling against his mom's new boyfriend that just means he's on the right path)

favourite twdg villain?
I'm a fond enjoyer of the St. John's as villains. I don't know if they're my favorite just because they're only in one episode, but I love the concept of this family almost immediately jumping into cannibalism toward the start of the outbreak, dealing in human flesh to bandits, and casually feeding this group their friend's legs.
Like... what the hell was this family like before the outbreak that all three of them were like, "Hey now listen... nothing should go to waste, the dead are eating people so why shouldn't we? We gotta survive and in our defense, we only target those who were gonna die anyway... like y'all."
Dude, Mark was shot in this shoulder with an arrow. He wasn't going to die from that injury. It's so fucked that these seemingly friendly people took the group into their home and then fed them Mark's legs.
If we take the idea that everyone is infected and have the capacity within themselves to become walkers, to become monsters, then the St. John's were infected long before the outbreak, y'know? Not literally, but something was wrong with them and the outbreak just further spread that infection and changed them.
But again, are they my favorite? I dunno if I can say that since I have a lot more appreciation for Lily now. Yeah, some of her writing gets a little wonky in ep3 of TFS when she goes on her monologues and shit, but y'know what? I'm into it.
You have to remember who we're talking about and the fact that she's the antagonist; Lily isn't some anti-hero in TFS who secretly has a heart of gold that's brought to light because she reunited with Clementine... she's a fucked up woman who did fucked up things in the name of survival. She's full of rot now. She sees kidnapping children and turning them into soldiers to protect her home as a means to an end, but she doesn't actually give a shit about the people she's taking. They aren't people to her, they're as the episode title suggests, toys in her game. The only one she sees as a person is Clementine, and while that makes her hesitate at first, she sees Clementine's a prize to bring back.
She remembers what happened in S1; her father had a heart attack and as she tried to save him, Kenny smashed his face in with a saltlick and then expected Lily to just stand up and help him get back to his family because "he did what he had to, he made the hard choice." Yes, Larry was a piece of shit. No one liked him, and you can even question Lily on him and she'll tell you that he has a lot of pain. Yes, it makes him an asshole, but he's still her dad and he's all she has. I mean... the simplification is daddy issues, but in all seriousness, I don't doubt for a second that many of Lily's issues stem from Larry being a shitty father to her.
Then everyone thought she was losing it when she insisted there was a traitor in the group, which she was right about, but she was unstable. She was unwell, but how do you help someone like that when you don't have training to go about it? Then Lily ends up killing either Carley or Doug and the group turns on her, and either she's left behind or she steals the van and runs away.
Then we don't know what the hell happened to her until we see her again in TFS, but like... a lone woman with decay festering inside of her joining the delta? Exposing her to their methods? I mean, what else did she have to lose? She had nothing, she lost everything, and she has a lot of issues. Survival is easy when you're numb, when you don't care about the individual; they're all just cogs churning to make the system run, and if a piece doesn't cooperate, you get rid of it and find a new one.
Plus I think there's something to say about Lily not wanting to be perceived as weak again. That whole display she put on in the cells? Telling the story of what happened to Minerva and Sophie? I get the criticism that it feels like Lily did a 180 between episodes but like... yeah dude, because it's a performance. It's not just her and Clementine anymore. It's a display of power and authority. She's playing the part and thriving in it as she ensures everyone else is terrified of her.
But then when Clementine and AJ get the upper hand? Again, she's not afraid to play up the pleading to earn enough sympathy to spare her- hell, just to let their guard down enough to strike and get the upper hand again. I mean, she's got nothing else to lose, right? If she doesn't go for it, she'll be killed and sure, you can kill her anyway but at least she tried.
Honestly, I look at Lily in TFS and still see that scared little girl playing the tough bitch, just like Carley said in S1. It's just now escalated from "tough bitch" to a downright vile person. She's so... lost? I suppose? Lost within herself and the monstrous means she's taken to survive.
I get the criticisms of how she was used in TFS, but for me, it's like when people complain about Minerva not getting the redemption arc she supposedly should've gotten, y'know? There's no saving her. Lily was never on our side, and there was no getting her on our side. She wasn't ever going to redeem herself. Even if you spare her and she drifts away on her raft, can someone like her actually find redemption? Or will she just find another group that'll feed into her rot?
Truly, I say let her be horrid. Let her be the piece of shit villain with a few fleeting moments of humanity. Let her drown in the blood she's spilled.
#asks#twdg lily#twdg andy st john#twdg danny st john#twdg brenda st john#twdg clementine#twdg minerva#twdg mark#twdg larry#twdg kenny#i know i used to complain about lily in tfs a lot years ago but past cj complained about everything tbh sksksks#now i'm just like babe lily's interesting as shit like not every villain needs a redemption arc just because you think they're hot#and don't wanna feel bad or because you want her to be like she was in s1 when she was sympathetic like... it's been years#that's like being mad that clementine isn't the same person as she was in s1... the difference is we got to see clementine grow#but what happened to lily is a mystery... but that doesn't mean she didn't change especially for the worst#i dunno sometimes i look at lady antagonists in media and then look at people's reactions and i'm like.......... hmmmm#c'mon now- if kenny came back in tfs the same exact way then y'all would be foaming at the mouth insisting he's complex#and morally grey and he's just really sad about his family dying and really he's a sad widdle meow meow but also the best villain#who should be spared because he always cared about clementine and aj and he's just traumatized and sad and amazing unlike OTHERS#like.................... okay sure mmhmmmm#side note but the worst thing about kenny is the fact that he IS a brilliantly written character but his stans tend to just be the worst#anyway i like lily she's a great tfs antagonist like i recognize there are some weak spots and i wish she has more of a presence in ep4#if she lived but y'know... gotta make room for minerva being the final bridge boss so... yeah

How do you think Steve and Eddie told the kids they were dating? I’ve come up with a million and 1 different scenarios for each of them (except for Dustin, who almost always helps set them up in my head) but I love hearing everyone else’s headcanons for it!
Oh my god I’m so sorry somehow I never saw this??? I am so sorry!
Im conflicted between a big display and never actually telling then because they just figure it out when both Steve and Eddie start to be consistently happy instead of their previous ways of being, a mix between emotionally numb and being on emotional high alert when it comes to The Party.
But with Eddie’s flare for dramatics I’d like to think he plans something. Okay so for hellfire he plays the long game. He introduces an npc called Stefan who the party conveniently all get emotionally invested it (is this because every characteristic is based on someone they know very well? Eddie will never tell). So there’s a whole story arc where they befriend Stefan and his back story unfolds when he explains he’s trying to go home but can’t until he knows the world is safe. So the party adopt him and protect him at all costs, there is one too many near misses where Stefan is sent into death saves and the party get ferocious in their need to protect him.
As the campaign ends they escort Stefan home. They defeated the big evil together, yes Stefan tried to scarfice himself for them but they stopped him every time. They arrive at Stefan’s village, a small affair but friendly and accepting. They insist on taking Stefan to his door to ensure no danger falls upon him, all of which is according to Eddie’s plan because when Stefan arrives home the party hear a loud ‘STEFE!’ from the door and explain details the scene. A man with a lute, exploding out the door, picks Stefan (Stefe? Steve?) up and whirls him round before turning to the group. ‘Thank you brave fighters for bringing my love back to me, I’m Edd, Bard Extraordinaire and I will tell tales of your bravery for forever more’
Erika is the first one to get it. Standing up from the table and pointing ‘YOU!’ Which is when Steve comes in for pick up duty. Erika wheels ‘and YOU!’ And Steve gives a small wave with a ducked head, Eddie told him ‘tonight is the night’ after keeping Steve up to date with the campaign. Steve was nervous coming in but wouldn’t have missed it for the world, grateful to be supporting and in turn being supported by Eddie.
Slowly Dustin stands, replicating the exact same response as Erika. This is when the chaos starts. It never really stops to be honest but once everyone is on the same page the out pouring is of support but also ‘ew gross you kiss HIM?’ (Aimed at both of them from various members of the group). Steve just stands next to Eddie at the head of the table, Eddie’s arm around his waist, Steve’s hand on Eddie’s head, both smiling at their make shift family and happy to have it out in the open

how did you discover natsumes yuujinchou?
it's all @uovoc's fault!! they told me about the anime while they were watching it for the first time, in such glowing terms i had to know what all the fuss was about. and then i mainlined the whole thing in like two weeks and spedran the entire spectrum of human emotions AND somehow came out the other side obsessed with the exorcists, which i do not think they were expecting when they recommended it to me. such is life.

if dorian didn't show up, do you think louis would have shot minnie?
I do. I know some people think either he wouldn't have or he would've missed so that's why the writers had him shoot Dorian instead, but mmmmmm no, I don't personally think so. I like to think that if he had taken the shot, his shaky hands would've caused him to shoot her fatally.
Mostly because I'm already so normal about the fact that of the Ericson crew, Marlon and Louis are the only ones with a body count. Well, that we know of, but shown to us in the game, at least. Plus, we know it's Louis' first kill.
Like yeah, Clementine and AJ become part of the crew and they have bigger body counts, and if we're counting indirect kills caused by actions, then Tenn has a count... and I guess everyone has blood on their hands for blowing up the boat... but I'm talking about killed directly with a weapon like....... I lied, I'm not normal about that at all, Louis and Marlon are the ones who have killed someone in Louis' route. I'm also not normal about the fact that Louis kills Dorian and then even as he's clearly in shock, he tries to go with Clementine to get AJ, and then later on when they talk about it, he says it feels like bile but not quite and he's glad he has it in him to do it.... listen, listen, listen... I'm obsessed with that.
Anyway, so if Louis shot Minerva, I think he would've accidentally killed her and can you imagine? He's already enough of a mess after killing the woman who pinned him down and tried to cut his finger off [or succeeded] but he knew Minerva, they were friends before the twins were taken. Even Violet couldn't kill her even though that would've been the smarter thing to do, and we know thanks to meta knowledge that killing her would've saved lives, but Violet couldn't, and I don't think Louis would intentionally either.
Speaking of Violet, if Louis killed Minerva, I hate to think about what that would've done to Vi. I think she might've actually left at that point, like what was planned before it got changed to her being burned. I don't think she would've attacked Louis over it, though, like yeah she attacked Clementine in the cell but Louis? I don't know, but I don't think so just because it's Louis and he'd be a mess about it anyway.
Though if he did kill her, it would be a neat parallel to draw... y'know, because Louis forgave AJ for killing Marlon even though he was pissed and heartbroken, and Violet was annoyed with him the entire time... but could she ever forgive Louis for killing Minerva? Y'know? We already have a similar parallel with AJ shooting Tenn, but still.
If Clementine killed Minerva in that moment, though, then I could see Violet attacking her since in her eyes, Clem proved her right.
So yeah, I get why they added the Dorian kill to his route. It adds another compelling element to Louis as a character, but we also need Minerva alive for episode 4; Louis can't kill her, he can't miss, and he's not going to stay with her because we need Violet to stay on the boat and him to be on shore for all routes.
#asks#twdg louis#twdg minerva#twdg clementine#twdg violet#twdg marlon#twdg tenn#honestly whenever i see someone say louis is the boring option i'm just like '.......that's your opinion but also how can you say that??'#then again i'm sure other people look at me saying violentine just isn't for me and they say the same thing so y'know... i can't talk haha#also time is such a weird thing because i look at the entire cell scene in louis' route and like... i'm not even mad about violet anymore#like yeah i still don't believe she was brainwashed like i'm sorry y'all only believe that because kent said something about it#not because there's all this evidence toward it in game like vi being pissed at clementine makes sense she doesn't need to be brainwashed#for it to work like her being vulnerable and easily manipulated into submission makes perfect sense especially with minerva there#it's like everyone was pissed that she attacked clementine and people needed a way to excuse it so it's not violet's fault when like...#that's literally what makes it interesting like calm down it's okay if violet is pissed and scared and behaves accordingly#also my controversial opinion of the day that i'll hide here in the tags so maybe people won't find it sksksk but#I personally find the concept of vinerva and the doomed tragedy of it more compelling than anything violentine did#like i'll defend violentine and i do believe it's an important and good ship it's just not my personal favorite#anyway but then the whole thing with lilly and minerva is so good and louis screaming FUCK YOU at minerva?? amazing love it so good#i love when the soft character who never chooses violence is so pissed off that all that anger they have boils to the surface and it's raw#like... he's SO mad he's SO furious he's SOOO UPSET like he wasn't even like this when marlon died or anything like he hit his limit#and then shooting dorian through the mouth while an accident is just well done i love it and i love his reaction of mortification#and apologizing and YET he still tries to go with clementine he's trembling and can barely string together a sentence but he wants to go#he wants to help her he wants to save aj THAT is the gut reaction he has after everything that just went down#'louis isn't loyal or good for clem because of the vote' babe tell me you don't understand any nuance of louis' character without telling m#it's fine IT'S FINE you don't have to agree and i just have to remind myself that it's fine not everyone likes louis we're okay#this drives me crazy in the best way like y'know what? i love the cells scene in louis' route all of it even the stuff i used to rant about#even the stuff that used to piss me off now i'm just like 'no wait past cj was dumb she wasn't looking at it this way aaaaaaaa' sksksks#that was my tag ted talk about the cell scene thank you
