Sometimes burnt bridges can be rebuilt.
---
Ace Attorney had it's 20th anniversary last year and combined with the long awaited translation of Dai Gyakuten Saiban/the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles I got all nostalgic.
THIS moment is my absolute favourite scene: Phoenix Wright, terrified of heights, running across a burning bridge above a canyon because he's far more scared of losing anyone else, that he'd do anything to stop it. And in what would become a recurring motif, when Phoenix is in desperate straits, Edgeworth puts everything on the line to build him back up.
The same way Phoenix saved him.
I love these games.
(longboy combined version under cut cos the quality gets nerfed)

Narumitsu Week 2022 Works
Tumblr media
He gripped the steering wheel until his knuckles blanched, before resting his forehead atop his hands. It was ridiculous, perhaps, to compare the two situations, but that didn’t stop the regret from gnawing at his insides. There had been so many times where Phoenix likely needed support or comfort, only to be left entirely to his own devices. There had also been so many times where he had needed support, only for Phoenix to swoop in without an ounce of hesitation.
It was just as the very morning showed, his beloved sunflower sticking out even in the low light. That man made his life easier—wasn’t it about time he did the same for him?
When Phoenix falls ill, Miles sees the perfect opportunity to repay all the love and care from previous years.
Written for Narumitsu Week Day 2/3: Regrets and Free Day.

“You never fail to amaze me. And no matter what, I’m just…so happy to be sharing this with you. I can’t believe I get to share this with you. It’s like a dream, Miles…”
He felt it—the last little bit of apprehension burn and turn to ashes, lifting away into the air. Because yes, Phoenix was right; of course he had lived up to the silly namesake. It didn’t necessarily matter what happened, perfection never a focus in the eyes of brown and blue. All that mattered is that they were secure and happy, that of which he had zero doubt.
“Then…I do believe we’re on the same page,” Miles whispered, beginning to smile as his heart started to pound.
After years of unease and uncertainty, Miles gives himself to the man he loves.

Relentless Seduction - Official Post
Heyo y'all! So... this is a bit new, if you aren't aware, I'm a major fan of Ace Attorney and love the Wrightworth (Narumitsu, Mitsunaru) ship! In fact, I had brain-rot years ago, but was only a reader at the time. One of my friends, Momo (@axolotlsupremacyowo), is a talented Ace Attorney writer (go check her out!), so when I stumbled across the Narumitsu Day exchange a couple weeks ago, I told her about it.
So... of course, she enabled me to join with her, and here I am now. And because the stars aligned, Momo was the one my fic was for. To top it off, my perpetual vampire brainrot persisted, so here I am now! That's right, I actually wrote a Narumitsu vampire AU. And not just that - I ended up creating yet another world I'll write for again in the future. Guess things go out that way sometimes, huh? No regrets XD
...oh yeah, also, this was the other fic I did the Harlequin Romance summary thing on, alongside Flora Fati. This was a wild ride!
Title: Relentless Seduction
Author: Mizuka
Rating: Teen
Category: M/M, Gen
Word Count: 4120 words
Notes: I ended up creating another world - the Summer Night Verse
Summary: (...part of this challenge was the summary - that is below)
Unrestrained. Unrelenting. And completely unreal! When prosecutor and vampire hunter Miles Edgeworth's best friend and colleague Mia Fey goes missing one day, he’s determined to find her. Only an ominous sigil marks her disappearance - the same symbol that marked his father’s death years ago, and he will not… cannot lose Mia too. With Mia's younger sister, the spirit medium Maya Fey, and his junior colleague, Klavier Gavin, working with him, they try to find Mia in time. Unfortunately, their only lead is The Borscht Bowl - a haven for the vampire-obsessed, run by a charismatic, mysterious, handsome man... Bar owner Phoenix Wright knows that there’s more to the gorgeous visitor than the formal suits and briefcases. In fact, his protégés Apollo and Trucy are sure that the newcomers are tied to Phoenix’s closest friend and longtime regular, Franziska von Karma. As the crew dives into the seedy shadows of the mystic world, unraveling the mystery around Mia’s disappearance, Miles and Phoenix turn to each other, discovering a sizzling hunger that won’t be sated… but will their connection survive the dark truth?

Note
hey sorry this is super late!! if u happen to be still doing prompts, can i request ‘Taking a break from washing dishes to slow-dance in the kitchen to their favorite song’ for narumitsu?
Lol I’ll be honest, I think I’m always down for these ask games until the point that I can no longer find the prompts.
“Really, Wright, how do you let the dishes pile up like this?”
“What do you mean?” Phoenix asked innocently, attempting to hide the overflowing sink with his back. “What dishes?”
Edgeworth glared pointedly at him, stepping forward to look over the mess. “Really, I leave you alone for one week, and already you’ve turned the place into a pigsty.”
“A pigsty?!” Phoenix had the audacity to look indignant at that. “It’s dishes. It’s not like I let Trucy disappear a load-bearing wall.”
Edgeworth raised an eyebrow. “...Again.”
“Again.”
Edgeworth sighed, shaking his head. “Well, that’s not the point,” he admonished. “Why on earth did you let these pile up so much? It’s not like we don’t have a working dishwasher you could…”
The two of them slowly glanced down, toward the little green light on the dishwasher.
“...And how long have the clean dishes been waiting to be put away?” Edgeworth asked dryly, crossing his arms, finger tapping irritably.
“...oh, you know.”
A beat. “A while then, I take it—”
“Listen!” Phoenix snapped quickly.
Edgeworth paused, already reaching for the dishwasher.
“...Oh, uh, sorry, I didn’t actually have any follow up.” Phoenix chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. “Didn't think you were going to let me.”
Edgeworth simply sighed in response. “Well, no time like the present I suppose,” he muttered.
The two of them began quickly unloading the dishwasher. Or rather, Edgeworth began unloading the dishwasher after about a full minute of arguing with Phoenix about where the dishes went.
“See? If I unloaded the dishwasher, you would’ve spent the entire day complaining about how I did it,” Phoenix muttered glumly, wiping down a few bowls that were still wet.
“Well, I wouldn’t have to complain if you would just pay attention to how everything is organized.” Edgeworth crossed his arms. “Now, help me clear out the sink.”
“Alright, alright,” Phoenix said, shaking his head. Then, “Oh! Hold on, let me just…”
He turned, and Edgeworth peered at him. “Wright?”
“Hold on…hold…onnnnnnn—there!”
Suddenly, there was music. Phoenix turned. “There we go.”
“Do we really need music for this?” Edgeworth asked as Phoenix turned on the sink.
“Eh, why not?” Phoenix grinned at him. “Come on, you just got back from Europe! Let’s have a bit of fun!”
“Fun? Why would—” Suddenly, there was a hand in his, and Edgeworth was being tugged forward. “Wright.” But Phoenix was smiling at him, and even after all this time, Edgeworth could feel a tug of butterflies in his stomach. “You are incorrigible.”
The two of them began to sway, music filling the air. “...I missed you, you know,” Phoenix said softly. “It’s no fun doing chores without you.”
“Hmph. And you find chores more ‘fun’ with me?” Edgeworth asked dryly, even as a small smile curled at the corner of his lips.
“Well yeah. Otherwise, I can’t do this.” And Phoenix leaned forward, pressing a kiss to Edgeoworth’s lips. “Have to recharge my battery somehow.”
“Ah, I see. So you’re just lazy.”
Phoenix laughed.
They swayed like that for a while longer, until the music petered out. Edgeworth sighed, annoyance gone, warmth blooming in his chest. I missed you too, he wanted to say. But as he opened his mouth, the words were interrupted by taiko drums. Edgeworth jerked. “Wh—”
“Oh, hey, I forgot I had the Steel Samurai theme song!” Phoenix said with a laugh, still attempting to dance with Edgeworth.
“Why on earth—?!”
“Come on, I know it’s your favorite,” Phoenix crooned.
“Wha—Of course it isn’t. And it’s certainly not a song to dance t—Phoenix.”
Another laugh, as Phoenix continued to pull him into a slightly livelier dance, pulling his arms back and forth.
All in all, it took at least another hour before the sink was clean. But, well, in the end, Edgeworth found he didn't mind.
(I'm still good to go for few more prompts)

January 2023 Fic Recap
Hello everyone, each year I try to incorporate something new in my writing process (last year was a tracking excel sheet) to motivate me to write more. This year I’ll be trying to make a recap at the end of the month for the fics I’ve written complete with the title, summary, and some extra little thoughts on it. Since these might end up being long, they’ll be under the cut separated by rating.
Monkey brain: need to write each month so have more on list
Fics written Somewhere the Culture's Clever (G) Vocal Exercises (G) Got drunk on you and now I'm wasted (I'm gonna dream of how you tasted) (E)
General
Somewhere the Culture's Clever
“Kristoph asked me to marry him.” Phoenix reaches up to put a dried plate into the cabinet. He keeps his tone light, like he’s talking about the mail that came in that day. “About two weeks ago.” Miles doesn’t falter from his spot in front of the sink, sleeves pushed up to wash the dishes. He responds with casual curiosity. “Oh? And what did you say to him?” “‘What’s in it for me?’”
This was a fun little proposal fic that I used to get a lot of banter out of my system, Phoenix is a little shit! I had the idea for that dialogue exchange as an opener for a while so I was happy to finally get the rest of the fic written. You can tell where it just kept extending past what I originally thought the end would be because there were just so many more quips to write they wanted to keep talking. This fic actually did way better than I thought it was going to I wouldn’t be surprised if it stayed my most kudos’d for this year.
As per the endnote: if you didn’t know where the fic title was from, it’s from Paris from the 3am version of the Midnights tracks and the line before this is ‘I want to brainwash you into loving me forever’ which is a Very Feenie-Phoenix sentiment to me but I didn’t want to give the wrong impression of this fic by titling it that
Vocal Exercises
“That’s you. That’s what you sound like.” Phoenix dropped his tone and sighed. “‘Honestly Wright, do you truly expect me to believe this absolute drivel?’" Miles glared at him. “And who is that supposed to be?” “You! It sounds just like you!” “No, it doesn’t.” “You just don’t know what you sound like then.” “I can assure you I have the utmost knowledge of my diction.” “Those are just words. You’re just saying words right now hoping I’ll agree with you. But I won’t, because that sounded exactly like you.” What an idiot. ~~ In which Miles tries to navigate the fact that he is having feelings at work, Phoenix's "hidden talent", and almost breaking the man's nose, all before 1 pm.
A fic I had in my WIPs for over a year (I started it in December 2021) that I left alone for months because I could not figure out the beginning of it. This is another fic I used to just have a lot of back and forth between Narumitsu that is them at their most powerful to me. In the very first version of this idea it was a getting together fic, where all of their awkward interactions would have been a pining version instead of seeing how they are going to fit together as a couple. I think this version is much more fun to work with and people seemed to like the take on the early stage of their relationship (though I’ll admit I was not really thinking of that when I was writing it). I like seeing what people pick up on in my writing that I haven’t paid much attention to as I’m doing it. I will eventually finish chapter two.
Explicit
Got drunk on you and now I'm wasted (I'm gonna dream of how you tasted)
"Welcome home." He murmurs. Phoenix looks up at him and smiles. "I should be saying that to you, when did you get back?" "Around three." "You should have told me. I would have come home." "You were in a trial, if I recall correctly." "I could have found someone to cover for me. I missed you." ~~ When Miles gets back from a trip abroad, Phoenix takes the opportunity to ask for something new. He gets exactly what he bargained for, perhaps a little more.
Not much to say about this one, don’t look at me…
This was a gift for the lovely Samioli, because one of the things that fuels my writing is love for my friends (and also spite but that wasn’t involved here). I did in fact feel out of my element writing this but that’s how you improve. Thank you to all the people who said it was hot, I hope you followed Phoenix’s example.
And if you’ve gotten this far, a little WIP preview (from another fic that’s been in my WIPs for almost a year - a sequel even):
So, he didn’t make it home the night before. That much he could gather. He also had clothes, if the dulled rub against the sheets was anything to go by. Well… win some, lose some I guess. He was alone, judging from the lack of body heat in any direction next to him. In these conclusions, he was fairly confident he could take whatever came next. It was when he opened his eyes and saw Miles Edgeworth standing by the open curtains that all of that shakily built confidence left him.

Just the way he said those two words made his stomach do somersaults. “Well? What do you think?” he asked.
“You look so incredibly handsome, darling,” he complimented without missing a beat.

Miles forced himself to flip the page he was on to make it look like he was actually making progress in his textbook.  He looked up just in time to see the man bend over the plate to tap the tip of the bat to the opposite side of the plate.
It was nothing.  Just his usual ritual whenever he entered the batter’s box.  It helped him align his feet with the plate.
It was fine.
It didn’t make Miles’ eyes trace down the hollow of the man’s throat.  No way.  Not him.
He still had to force his eyes back to the pitcher with conscious thought.
If I show up three months late to NaruMitsu week with the most self indulgent fic I’ve written to date, does it still count?

Yahoooo~, I recently started playing AA Investigations, and Kay really reminds me of Tracy somehow. I don't know if the two of them ever meet up in canon, but do you have any thoughts or potential headcanons about the two becoming acquainted with each other?
Kay is basically like Miles' honorary daughter so she's definitely met Trucy before, even if she doesn't live in the Wright-Edgeworth household (narumitsu is canon do not @ me i'm right).
Unlike Trucy, who lives with Nick because she's. literally his child, Kay just kinda floats in and out of Miles' life whenever she feels like it. I don't even mean like "she doesn't live in their house" level I mean like. She fucks off for like weeks even at a time with only five texts and a postcard or two to show for it (she's very busy as a Great Thief you know), and then comes back and sits Miles down and asks him to spill the deets first thing. Already this can lead to her being totally surprised by sudden changes, and Nick's disbarment is a BIG change that happens in like a week after the plot of Investigations 2.
Now Nick once he gets disbarred slowly chips people out of his life as best as he can for a while, because Kristoph Gavin is the worst and had him convinced it was for the best he do so. This means for a while Miles isn't in much contact with Phoenix or Trucy, and that means Kay still has no idea who the hell That Man™ is, just that things look bad on that front. However, once Nick rights the boat a little, and reconnect with the people he cut out and is better equipped to defeat Kristoph, now the door is open. They can meet.
What i'm saying is they meet when one day, Kay, who had vanished for like a few months on different interpol missions (because I believe in interpol Kay supremacy), like. Sneaks into Miles' apartment in the middle of the afternoon intending to surprise him when he gets home from work, but SURPRISE!! There's this like 12 year old girl sitting in his apartment, that she's never seen in her life. And then the twelve year old is like "oh! you must be Miss Kay!"
Imagine being Kay in that moment. This rando child knows who you are, and you have no idea who the hell she is, or why she's in Mr. Edgeworth's apartment. Naturally, she's like "Who are you?"
"I'm Trucy! Trucy Wright!"
Well, that doesn't answer any of her questions. Did Mr. Edgeworth take up babysitting? Maybe that's not surprising, given how he used to watch her, but he did that while prosecuting? Does he even have free time as he climbs the prosecutorial ladder? Okay, new question: "How do you know my name?"
"Uncle Miles told me aaaaallll about you. His old assistant and friend!"
Uncle. Uncle Miles? Well, Trucy just said she's a Wright and not a von Karma, meaning...meaning what. Who the hell is this child in Mr. Edgeworth's apartment? Why? Unless...."Oh my god. Did Mr. Edgeworth finally start dating "That Man"? Is his name Wright? Something Wright?" Who is that man?
Trucy just tilts her head and looks at Kay, confused. "Mr. Edgeworth and Daddy aren't dating Even if they should, they can't yet. Um....who is That Man?"
"Wouldn't I love to know?"
Anyway they spend the next half hour or so talking about their respective parents, and reaching a conclusion about that man, and also learning about each other. They have a lot in common! They have a lot of passion for a trade they inherited from their fathers, and a love for the men who stepped up for them when they needed it. They're both too curious and mischievous for their own good, and like experimenting with techniques and tactics never tried before to fill an objective. The minute Kay learns Trucy is a magician she whips out Little Thief and they start using it to plan the most insane magic show of all time. It's too dangerous, and potentially entirely unfeasible, but they can't be stopped! The hype is too real!
And then the door opens "Sorry Trucy. Those errands took longer than I anticipated--Kay Faraday?" It's Miles Edgeworth, exposed to an insane simulation of a vaguely illegal performance feat. and he's already exhausted. "I see you've met Trucy."
"Yeah! I didn't know you had a kid!" Kay says, knowing its not true but just to cause problems.
"I don't. I'm merely watching over her while her father works," Miles says. He looks around the room at the holographic hellscape and says "Don't put ideas in Trucy's head."
But it's too late. This is a friendship, nay, a sibling bond of two girls enabling each other's most chaotic impulses for FUN and also intellectual stimulation. They can't be stopped. Turns out Kay is better at keeping in touch with Trucy than anyone else after this. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

NaruMitsu Week Day 2: Rewind
read on Ao3
Here Phoenix was, injured and bedridden, and his husband had been plotting against him!
"No," he said hurriedly. "No, no Steel Samurai marathon, Miles I'm injured, don't do this to me, I don't wanna watch a silly little kid show while I'm in the hospital."
Miles snickered, then leaned back, feigning indifference as he pulled one case from the bottom of the stack. "Alright, fine. And here I was, eager to share one of my passions with you. But alas, if you'd rather not watch the Signal Samurai with me-"
Phoenix hated hospitals. Not because of any bad memories or anything, but because they made him feel trapped, all white walls and antiseptic. Besides, when was the last time he'd actually needed to go to the hospital? The last three times he'd ended up in one he hadn't even been that hurt!
Well, ok, maybe eating potentially poisoned glass wasn't his best idea, but he'd done it for love! And he'd been fine afterwards! Mostly anyway. Ok maybe he'd needed to go to the hospital for that one after all. But falling off the bridge at Hazakura Temple? He'd caught a cold, not drowned. Taking him to the hospital had been excessive. And now he was stuck in the hospital again, this time with a broken ankle. Stupid car just had to hit him.
Phoenix groaned, pulling the beanie off his head with one hand and scrubbing at his eyes with the other. The doctor had said he'd be stuck here for days. He wouldn't even have Trucy to keep him company, busy as she and Apollo were with their investigation. At least three days, bored out of his skull, more or less trapped in a hospital room. Joy.
"Knock knock," came a voice from the door. Phoenix looked up, then grinned. There stood Miles Edgeworth in all his magenta suited glory. He had a stack of what looked like DVD cases tucked under one arm.
"Hey stranger," Phoenix said, waving him into the room. "I thought you were supposed to be in Zheng Fa for another week."
"I was," the other man said, setting the DVD cases on the bedside table, "but I had a family emergency. My idiot husband went and got himself run over, see?"
"Ouch." Phoenix let his eyes linger as he watched Miles remove his suit jacket, folding it gently and placing it over the back of a chair. "That can't have been fun. Poor guy must've been really hurt if you came all this way to see him."
Miles snorted and leaned down to press a kiss to one stubbled cheek. "What's the damage, Mr. Invincible?"
"A broken ankle if you can believe it. And some bruises I guess, but the ankle is the worst of it. Did you bring me something?" He shifted, trying to get a better look at the DVDs Miles had brought. Pink Princess Warrior of…
Oh no.
His head snapped back up, just in time to see Miles' sneaky, conniving, little smirk. Oh he'd been waiting for something like this to happen.
But alas, if you'd rather not watch the Signal Samurai with me-"
The DVD case left his hand in an instant, Phoenix's eyes wide as he examined it. The cover was slightly faded, the case cracked in one spot along the spine. It boasted all three seasons of Neo Olde Tokyo Traffic Safety: Signal Samurai. Man, was this ever a throwback.
"How'd you even find this Miles? I've been looking for Signal Samurai DVDs for years!" He looked up at Miles, disbelief in his eyes.
"I have my ways, Wright," he replied imperiously, plucking the case out of Phoenix's hands. "I should have known though, of course you wouldn't want to watch a 'silly little kid show' with me. Ah well, I'll just take these back and-"
"Now how on a second, Signal Samurai isn't just a silly little kids show! That show was my life Miles!" Phoenix pouted, lower lip stuck out. "Pretty please can we watch it?"
"Mm, I don't know. Will you watch the rest of the Samurai shows with me too?"
Phoenix groaned. "You drive a hard bargain, Edgeworth."
"Is that a yes, Wright?"
"You know it is. Go put it in the DVD player and then sit down. If you're gonna make me watch the whole show, at the very least I deserve to cuddle with my husband, don't you think?"
Miles laughed again, making Phoenix smile. He loved hearing Miles laugh. It always brought back memories of when they were kids, before everything in Miles' life had gone sideways. He'd made it his life's mission to make him laugh as much as possible. The man had been through so much heartache in his life, he deserved whatever bits of joy Phoenix could bring him. Even if it did involve watching corny children's television. Really, the things he did for this man.
Miles finished setting up the DVD player, snagging the remote and moving to settle beside Phoenix on the bed. He tucked his head against the other man's shoulder, sighing softly. Phoenix wrapped an arm around his shoulders, pulling him closer as the familiar theme song started up. It was almost like old times. All that was missing was Larry, usually seated between them, and the smell of Gregory Edgeworth's pancakes cooking in the next room. Well, Trucy would be able to take Larry's place once the case she and Apollo were on was finished. How to get Miles to agree to making them pancakes though? That would be the tricky part.
Ah well, it could wait until he was patched up and back home. For now, Phoenix was content to sit here, hold his husband, and reminisce about their shared childhood.

Miles and Miles Away ~A Narumitsu One Shot~
Summary: "For some reason, whenever I'm tired, I'm reminded of you..."On the other side of the world, Miles Edgeworth finds himself working late. Naturally, he also finds himself yearning for that man.
Long distance makes the heart grow fonder, and texting makes the separation easier.
Written for Day Nine (Texting) of Flufftober 2021.
Tags: Mentioned Trucy Wright, Fluff, Tooth-Rotting Fluff, long distance, Texting, Yearning, Flufftober, Flufftober 2021, Seven Year Gap (Gyakuten Saiban)
Additional Notes: Hello everyone! Just ZOOMING away when it comes to these two lately, goodness gracious. They really have me entirely wrapped around their fingers. Suppose that isn't a bad thing; I was able to finish this draft that's been sitting around since the summer! I originally was going to post it as part of a longer series for Narumitsu Week, but ended up getting sick and missing out. However, Flufftober came to the rescue, as it happens to fit one of the prompts!
So I'm super excited to share more Lawyer Lovin' TM, and I hope you all enjoy! You can also read the fic on AO3 here [x].
Day had quickly melted into night, the sun plunging far beneath the horizon. Yet, the mountain of various papers and files seemingly refused to follow that lead. It was most certainly wearing on a prosecutorial mind, eyes heavy and brain foggy. But even as the hours ticked into the early morning, Miles continued to push through the laborious fight. Multiple cups of tea were brewed, laps around his working space were performed, and massages to his temples were given.
To his bewilderment though, something appeared to be missing in his usual mix. He was concentrating, but a piece of him still cried for something more. He was focused, but something within protested that his efforts weren’t enough. At the consideration, his brows furrowed ever so slightly, his gray eyes scanning the admittedly lonely space.
...Was the distance really wearing him thin then? Was he truly that far in over his head? It seemed ludicrous to think about, and yet...
And yet the redirection of his thoughts seemed to manifest the object of his desires, his phone suddenly flashing to life with a notification. A brow cocked, but the twitter experienced within his chest was undeniable. It was presumptuous to assume perhaps, that the notification was what- or rather who, he yearned for. But deep into the clutches of night, and with his heart reacting accordingly, he simply had a feeling.
Sure enough, reaching for the device and reading the screen produced a message from the person in question, as well as a gentle, relieved smile on Miles’ face.
“Hi <3. I know it’s late there. But just wanted to say I miss you and love you.”
He couldn’t help but let out a soft sigh, momentarily shutting his eyes and allowing the words to wash over. If he concentrated hard enough, he could almost hear that glorious man uttering them into his ear. It was...quite lovely, and admittedly a very welcomed intrusion in the sea of law files.
Though, the fact that he was indeed so very deeply tangled in affections drew forth a flush to his cheeks. Regardless, he engaged without much delay.
“Tell me, are you always so sappy at this hour?”
The earned reply struck as quick as lightning- same with the change in conversational tone.
“Hey! What’re you doing up?! Go to bed!”
Miles rolled his eyes, but huffed a breath of mirth into the emptiness of his workspace.
“You send me sugary messages and don’t expect a reply?”
“Well, I thought it could be a good morning text or something! You need your rest”
“I’ve got a mountain of files to go over, Wright. Nothing unusual.”
The small pause in bickering allowed the greeting text to embrace him once again. He sighed once more at the warmth, the sweetness, a deeper color twinging his cheeks. Texting was both a blessing and a curse. Unfortunate that he couldn’t properly converse, but wondrous all the same. It allowed him to practice deeper sentiments, statements that would knot his tongue if legitimately uttered. But, seeing as they needed to be said, it offered the perfect opportunity.
It was getting easier to do so after all. Thus, he carried on.
“But I miss you and love you too, darling. Reading over all of this is a bit easier without the barrage of kisses, or, as you would put it, “cuddles.” But it’s certainly not the same.”
Another brief pause, which allowed him to scan the emptiness and subsequently add another sentiment.
“I wish you were by my side.”
The pause that followed could have been perceived as odd, but Miles was relatively unbothered, what with having a hunch. The corners of his lips twitched, and a single finger rapped against the device, waiting to have his suspicions confirmed.
They were indeed, albeit in a less conventional manner. Still, the answering text earned a rare, amused smile.
“Hey, it’s Maya. Think you might have actually killed him this time!!!”
Miles shook his head, huffing at the comical mental image of his partner dramatically collapsed.
“Take it he’s a mess as usual?”
“Yeah, and then some. Blushing and giggling like a dork! Not to mention hiding his face in his hands. The whole shebang.”
“How unfortunate.”
“Trucy’s asking if it’s because of Papa, so she’s onto you! She recognizes your tactics.”
The mention of his other favorite Wright warmed his heart, but also added to the hilarity. Two young ladies teasing Phoenix for being a sentimental mess was surely a sight to behold. Miles shook his head with a huff, before replying to the cast suspicions.
“Far too clever for her own good.”
“Omg he’s chasing me. G2G!”
Before he could even begin to consider what “g2g” meant, another tonal shift indicated the return of his beloved. Once more, he huffed, picturing the blanket of sheepishness wrapped tightly around Phoenix.
“Hi...”
“Hello. Are you going to survive?”
“Barely. I’m never prepared for you doing that.”
“Is it really so surprising?”
“No! I just can’t believe it’s even real sometimes. It feels like a dream.”
“So sappy indeed.”
“And you’re aren’t? I got Miles Edgeworth to say cuddles!”
“Touché...”
Miles tittered a bit, before reaching to take a sip of his warm tea. It truly was like Phoenix was intertwined with him, his presence more than noticeable in the bleak work space. He burned brightly, brilliantly, shining with all his fire. And subsequently, he managed to exactly predict the current actions.
“Take it you’re drinking tea?”
Miles shook his head, the warmth in his chest growing tenfold.
“You know me too well.”
“I propose an idea then. And stay with me on this, okay?”
A brow immediately cocked.
“I’m listening...”
“I can see your smirk all the way from over here. Just listen!”
His furrowed expression of contemplation unraveled into delight once more. My, how well Phoenix truly knew him. How utterly engrained he was. But they danced together, paralleled gorgeously. Thus, did Miles fire back with a knowing quip.
“And I can hear your whining.”
“Okay okay look! What do you say we both drink together? I can brew some tea or coffee and drink along with you.”
Miles was almost going to object that such substances would keep his partner up, but Phoenix continued to be speedy with his explanations.
“Annnddd...This is going to be cheesy okay, but what if we both looked at the sky out the window while doing it? That way we’re even more connected?”
Entangled as they were, Phoenix still managed to go and surprise him sometimes. His nose reflexively crinkled at the sugary sweetness of it all, but he ultimately couldn’t deny the pull. For yes, it would amplify their connection...that much more. It would pull them even closer together across countries, across continents. Perhaps, if he tried hard enough, he’d be able to feel the ever so desirable softness of Phoenix’s lips on his own...
Miles almost startled at just how mushy he was becoming; hiding behind the safety of digital words truly did allow deeper feelings to come to light. He couldn’t help but sigh, simmering in the fluttery sensations of love and yearning. It was still relatively new, still relatively overwhelming. But...admittedly growing more and more delightful all the same.
So he smiled at the offering, and poised to proceed. Outwardly, he fell to their usual banter, their usual teases. But inwardly, he felt his heart skipping beats.
“Are you proposing something of a date, Phoenix Wright?”
“Good to see your deduction skills are still sharp as ever.”
“But yes, that is incredibly cheesy, darling.”
“Come onnnnnnn.”
“You also realize I’m supposed to be working, you goon.”
“Pleaaaaaase?”
“I hate how difficult it is to refuse you these days.”
As if he had the intention- or even power, to refuse Phoenix Wright at all. Still, he carried on with his usual front, playfully rolling his eyes as a stream of textual hearts came in.
“<3 <3 <3”
“But ONLY until I’m done with this cup of tea. I really must be getting this wrapped up tonight.”
“You’re such a busy body. Better take some reaaaaal small sips then!”
“As if you don’t have a boisterous bunch to tend to yourself!”
“They can handle themselves!”
“I suppose they have no choice in the matter when you’re knocked out cold.”
“Whose fault is that?!”
“Entirely your own. Have we not discussed poor composure?”
“It’s not my fault that you’re so damn attractive! You’re the one to melt me!”
And onward the warmth grew, boiling up inside him like he was a kettle getting ready to sing. He wondered just how far it could go, just how intense it come become. Surely steam smelling of lazy Sunday breakfasts and cozy hoodies and cheap cologne was primed to pour from his ears.
He blushed something terrible, almost growing woozy from it all. The breach in composure and subsequent pause must have exposed a weak spot; Phoenix struck with further teases, not offering the slightest respite.
“Aww, what’s the matter? Law files got your tongue? ;)”
“No. A certain man is just giving me the business.”
“That so? Also, what were you saying about poor composure?”
“Nnngh...”
“Did you really just phonetically groan at me?”
“Hush! Now are we doing this date of yours or not?”
“Haha, yeah- I actuaaaaally was already brewing tea ahead of time. So I’m ready when you are <3.”
“Silly fool...”
Miles shook his head for the umpteenth time, before silver eyes drifted. He looked from the warmer hue sitting in his cup to the cool toned landscape that awaited outside the window. Red and blue, together, as always. Red and blue, hand in hand, no matter what the circumstance.
He arose then, assuming the discussed position. He took another sip of his tea, and allowed his eyes to drift out over the sprawling night.
Miles’ heart clenched. It did feel different, knowing that his beloved was somewhere out there performing the exact same actions. He still wanted to roll his eyes over the inane corniness of the concept, but also couldn’t deny the intimacy. As he clutched his teacup, a pair of hands were acting similarly. And as he looked out over the vast stretch of darkened sky, Phoenix, his Phoenix, was staring back.
It did almost feel like they were together, in an odd and unique way. Interlaced over oceans, connected over miles, and conjoined in the skies.
Another cheesy swath of words appeared in his head, rivaling the sweetness that rested on his tongue. Another round of heat crept across his face, but he still felt inclined. With Phoenix, it was feeling...safer and safer. Something of normalcy with every passing day. Besides, he couldn’t exactly pass up an opportunity to be poetic either.
“I see your eyes in the stars. Bright and glimmering as ever. Yet they pale in comparison to the real thing. I really do miss you.”
Unsurprisingly, there was another pause. With every passing second, the corners of his lips tickled, twitching and slowly hiking upwards. He was almost certain of the reasoning. He was quite confident in what was happening all those miles away. It certainly helped his anxiety towards deeper sentiments, what with wielding tenderness providing amusement. And sure enough...
“Maya again. If he falls over for real and spills his tea, the carpet cleaning bill is on you!”
“I do believe you’re interrupting our date, Ms. Fey.”
“Date?! You both are so corny! What happened to being rivals?!”
“He’s not safe from me when work is involved, rest assured.”
“You realize you’re saying all of this on my phone.”
The entire exchange and the sudden shift back to his partner drew forth the rarest expression of all: a grin. He was hardly aware of his face really, too caught up in the hilarity and gingerness. He snickered a few rounds of mirth before replying.
“It’s nothing you don’t already know, dear.”
“Have I ever told you how much I love you.”
“You have indeed.”
“Not stopping now. Can I call you?”
Again with the surprises. Gray eyes widened, Miles’ face shifting more towards genuine shock.
“You’re quite intent on keeping me from my duties, aren’t you.”
“Ha, I’d lasso you if I could. But no, just real quick. I promise. The girls will start teasing me anyway.”
“Aren’t they already?”
With that, and a gentle sigh, did Miles comply. Stronger tingles crept up his spine however, what with knowing that the spoken word was far more powerful. But again, even still, he found himself...powerless to Phoenix Wright. He found himself wanting to hear that sweet tenor, even if anxiety settled within his stomach.
So he dialed and waited only a mere second before that gorgeous voice reached him.
“Hi, love...”
His blush reached complete saturation.
“Hello, darling.”
To his delight, he heard those sheepish giggles. And he took a moment to question himself; there was no anxiety to be had. They genuinely were on the same plane. They were giddily nervous like two grade school sweethearts, and overflowing with differing languages of love. Phoenix understood him, and he understood Phoenix. They were navigating new ground with laced fingers, and walking side by side. Every element during their interaction pointed to that. There were constant reassurances. So Miles allowed himself to breathe, and to settle.
“To what do I owe the pleasure, Mr. Wright?”
“Wow...” Phoenix snickered, the rivaling blush plenty palpable in his tone, “Um...I just wanted to tell you this for real- I love you. So much.”
“I love you too.”
Breaths seemed to quiver on both ends, the divine words blanketing them. Miles’ shivers turned more into a contented hum, allowing the honeyed warmth to wash over his form. That was, until Phoenix broke back into their usual cheekiness.”
“Now uh...go to bed already, okay?”
“I will once a certain man stops distracting me and allows me to finish my work.”
“Wow, this guy really needs to lay off you,” Phoenix laughed, “Seems like he adores you or something.”
“I suppose. Hate to admit it’s rather mutual.”
Miles was pleased to hear breath catch on the other line.
“I really do love you,” Phoenix eventually murmured, “And miss you. Hurry home, will you?”
“I will. You’ll be in my thoughts until then.”
There was another shaky sound, and then an odd, suctioning sort of feedback. Miles’ visage shifted towards confusion, before quickly falling to playful furrowing once he deduced.
“Phoenix Wright, I am not kissing the transmitter...”
A laugh that settled in his heart almost seemed to shake the phone, leading him to chuckle himself.
“Aww, you’re no fun...”
“Not at all. Instead, I’ll tell you once more that I love you so much. And thank you, for the...thoughtful date.”
“Of course. I love you too.”
There was the chirp of distance laughter and banter, making the pair laugh lightly themselves. It unfortunately signaled their departure, but spirits were up regardless.
“Alright alright...Good early morning, Miles.”
“Goodnight, Phoenix.”
He had finished his tea quite some time ago.

Day 5 ~ Appearances
Probably never going to be happy with this but whatever. Gotta post something.
Phoenix looked at his suit. It was actually all a façade. All those ruffles and strong colors were there to complete his cold and ruthless personality. But he knew the truth, under all of that hid a shy and nerdy kid with a strong sense of justice. Phoenix took out the suit, placed it on the bed. Today they had court and well, they had to be well dressed. It was funny seeing his whole demeanor change with his clothes, like his whole personality depends on if he's wearing a bow tie or a jabot. Under all of that snarky and rude personality he's actually a quite nice dude. He gets all fussy because "Phoenix, I told you. Earl Grey is brewed with water at 98° C not 74°" and he never missed one episode of _The Steel Samurai_. He also likes cuddling A LOT, and even sings in the shower!... Talking of singing in the shower... Can you hear him?
Voilà, voilà, voilà, voilà qui je suis
Me voilà même si mise à nue j'ai peur, oui
Me voilà même si mise à nue c'est fini
C'est ma gueule c'est mon cri, me voilà tant pis
Voilà, voilà, voilà, voilà juste ici
Moi mon rêve mon envie, comme j'en crève comme j'en ris
Me voilà dans le bruit et dans le silence
The water stopped running, and after a few minutes the man himself came out of the shower. He pressed himself to Phoenix and sleepily said something along the lines of "Honey it's too early to go to work" and "you're so comfy". With a bit of encouragement from Phoenix they managed to get dressed in time. After he finished putting on his jabot and tying Phoenix's tie properly he spoke up, finally woken up and in his court persona.
- Well, we're ready, let's go.
- Wait, what? We haven't even had breakfast
- Then we shall get some coffee to go, we are going to be late if we don't hurry up.
- You know? I feel like your whole personality changes with your clothes. Like that suit has it's own personality.
- What are you babbling about, my appearance does not change with my clothes.
- Yeah whatever, let's go. As you said, we're gonna be late, again.
- Let's go Wright.
- See! You did it again, you only call me that when you're on that suit.
- Ridiculous, come on.
- Okay okay...

Hi. Im cruel :)
Inneffable Husbands or Narumistsu
The Untamed or Shadow and Bone
Being in a deserted island with your SO or in space with your best friend (if they are the same person I've outplayed myself huh)
Giving up books or giving up Netflix for life
I hope those are enough and that you have a hard time deciding (jk)
also this is a this or that, "both" or "idk" are no valid as a global answer xD
Wow! You truly know me!!! You outdid yourself @yoharudragneel, these are the hardest questions possible! And you even made sure I couldn't leave any of them blank!!! xD
Anyway, this is a challenge for me now, so I'll do my best to answer all of them, just be aware that this is gonna be long!
Ineffable Husbands VS Narumitsu
You ARE cruel!!! This one is just going straight for the heart!!! I love Ineffable Husbands so much that I made one of my college exam answers about them!!! They carried me through most of my last year of high school and I owe so much to them. Crowley's genderfluidity gave me a ton of self-confidence and I don't think I've ever felt as comforted by a ship in my life!!!
And Narumitsu... Kinda one of the reasons I chose my freaking career, no joke!
Sure! I've always loved videogames, but, (apart from Pokemon) I don't think I'd ever dedicated so much time to a videogame fandom without any breaks. It's what made me finally realize that there were also videogames for people like me, who like being in stories and reading them and that it was a valid reason to want to make videogames.
Both these ships are a neverending source of happiness and inspiration for me and I low-key hate that you're making me choose between them, but, I think that I'm gonna go with Narumitsu, mostly because the found family in Ace Attorney tends to be even more relatable to me, and I feel very close to the characters, I just can't let go of how happy this ship makes me.
The Untamed VS Shadow And Bone
Hard question! This is the show I'm 6 episodes from finishing after a two week-long binge vs the show I'm most looking forward to in the world!!!
I think the books are gonna have to break the tie (sorry in advance, btw, if you wanna lend me one... I wouldn't complain, I kinda wanna get some idea of the trilogy too before watching the show). But as I said, I haven't read any of Shadow and Bone (even though I'm crazy for Six of Crows and King of Scars), and I have started reading The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, so... sorry not sorry, The Untamed wins this round xD
Deserted Island with SO or Space with Best Friend
I am by now convinced that you are trying to kill me with my own indecision!!! As you very well summed up: "don't ask a Ravenclaw to decide", because my pro-cons list for this one is extensive.
I love my girlfriend, and I love my best friend, so first of all, seeing as you are my best friend (and you are, for real, there is no one else I'd rather have as my best friend), I am begging you not to judge me for this answer?
On the one hand, I love space, in general. I think it's pretty and fascinating, and it would be amazing to share that experience with my best friend, who loves the Moon in the night sky, and who, apart from being stranded, let's face it, would probably love it too. On the other, I love the sea, I love islands, I love the beach, and tbh, I'd be happy sharing a whole island with my girlfriend and learning how to get by together for an indefinite amount of time, so I think you get the magnitude of the choice being made here.
To be quite honest, this pro-con list served more to finally understand that there's one option that I want to win, even if I'm not sure what the best one is, and I think it attests mostly to the fact that I'm kinda a curious person, so no matter how much I'd miss my girlfriend, I'm gonna go to space with my best friend, sorry if you weren't expecting it!
Giving up Books or giving up Netflix for life
At last!!! A question I can answer without pulling my hair out xD
I won't say this is easy, because I do love watching shows, but I stand by the fact that books are what sustain me. Even if I don't read as many books anymore, books are what made me, and at the end of the day, I love books and think I'd be much sadder if I couldn't read any more, than if I couldn't watch tv shows.
I can do without Netflix shows, but I can't just live without books. Moreover, whenever I get deep into a fandom, it's writers who I turn to, fanfiction, (so, basically books, because I consider them to be on equal ground) and that's really something I couldn't be happy without, at all.
These were the most interesting This or That questions you could have sent me!!! I can't thank you enough for this ask! I had soooo much fun with it, and it made me really happy😊💙💙💙
