Queer Star Wars Characters (Round 3): General Bracket Match 8
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just Lucky | Identity: bisexual (male and nonbinary) | Media: Doctor Aphra comics
Just Lucky, to pay for his brother’s gambling debts, was forced to become a member of the Canto Bight based crime syndicate the Sixth Kin. There he began a relationship with another lieutenant of the syndicate, Ariole Yu. He later left the active service of the Sixth Kin and broke off his relationship with Yu, which he could do as long as he kept paying off his brother’s gambling debts. He took jobs off planet and eventually became an associate of Doctor Aphra. But when she attempted to obtain the Rings of Vaale, he became a double agent for the wealthy Ronen Tagge. After Aphra “killed” Ronen, he captured her for Dominia Tagge. She offered Aphra a job, while cutting off Lucky.
Needing a constant flow of cash, he returned to the Sixth Kin to see if they had any jobs. He was forced to work with Ariole Yu, his ex, to kill their shared mentor who had defected to Crimson Dawn. They fought Crae, refusing his offer to join Crimson Dawn. After they lost, they were thrown in the brig where they joined Aphra and Sana Starros is escaping. However, Aphra eventually stranded the two. Qi’ra gave her pitch for Crimson Dawn and then let them leave. Back on Canto Bight, the Sixth Kin attempted to bait them into killing each other. They saw through this and decided to take a job from Ronen Tagge to steal the Spark Eternal.
To do this job, they confronted a Spark Eternal possessed Aphra on the Vermillion. But seeing what they were up against, they decided to hit the bricks. As they fled, they ran into Sana Starros’ “Save Aphra” crew, running to confront/save Aphra. Just Lucky ended up convincing Ronen to save Sana’s team after they were defeated and their ship destroyed. Sana convinced Ronen that his only choice was to kill Domina, and that her team would join him to repay their “debt”. They joined Ronen in his Crimson Dawn supported coup for the Tagge Corporation, which turned out to be a trap Domina and Sana set to lure Ronen and his supporters into the open. Sana arranged for all of their debts to the Tagge Corporation to be forgiven, so Ariole and Just Lucky joined her in attempting to save Aphra.
In addition to his reignited relationship with Ariole, he also has a crush on the non-binary Lapin Tagge.
T’onga | Identity: wlw | Media: Bounty Hunters comic series
T’onga was a bounty hunter and the twin sister of T’ongar. She eventually retired from that life and settled on a farm with her wife Losha Tarkon. However, her brother was killed due to perceived betrayal by their group’s leader Nakano Lash. When news of Lash’s whereabouts resurfaced years later, she left to take revenge. She was “killed” by Boba Fett who also wanted Lash’s bounty. However, the locals retrieved and healed her. Her wife came to her, and the two adopted a Nexu owned by the man who nursed T’onga back to health. The couple created a new bounty hunting crew, and recruited a group of  already established bounty hunter characters. When Valance was captured by the Empire, her crew became the protagonists of the Bounty Hunters comic series. They took a series of jobs, including one that led to them fighting the Knights of Ren and managing to survive.
Although she can be brash at times, T’onga is a good leader and able to keep together a crew of strong and often differing personalities. Most recently, Valance Berliet joined their crew, which caused Inferno Squadron to hunt them and damage Valance’s personality matrix. With their Nexu dead, Losha traumatized, and the Empire hunting them, T’onga dosed her wife with sleeping gas so Tashu Leech could take her away from their crew. The couple will eventually reunite, as during the time of the New Republic T’onga is still hunting with Losha once again part of her crew. Her desire for revenge against Lash was driven by her culture’s views about honor and the connection between twins. However when Lash explained what really happened on the job that killed T’ongar, she gave up on revenge. She also feels obligated to save Valance from the Empire and save his mind because of their past work together.

"Always such a pleasure taking part in the Star Wars Pride Celebration! I can't wait to see what the other artists and creators have cooked up. Just Lucky is honestly a new character to me, but just from our first 'meeting' I already want to party with him." — Paulina Ganucheau

And what do you think of the characters that are made just to be sold? They get called the "adoptables".
Black.N.G: that's it adoptable, they are just too "lucky" from what I know, their creators create them to give them to people who need them, people who can give them a story.
Contrary to us, these littles shit is lucky or not, some creators only want to have a scapegoat in a story, and since they don't want to lose their pretty works, so there are stupid peoples, who are ready to give their characters to the highest bidder and later to witness the disappearance of this one °chuckles°.well, that's just my opinion.:3

I, a hearing person who likes subtitles just as a preference, shouldn't have to read a subtitle that's obvious nonsense, go back a couple seconds, and listen again in order to figure out what's going on. An accessibility feature should not be the most half-assed part of a professionally made production. Scripted media has absolutely no excuse for not having subtitles or having subtitles that aren't perfectly verbatim. Professional captioning services should be ashamed of the shoddy work that they put out. Captions should be treated as a part of the production, just like filming, editing, audio balancing, etc - and anything that releases with missing or bad captions should be seen as unfinished

"Tell your favorite creators that you like their work, people usually enjoy things silently, but hate tends to be loud"
This is a phrase I just heard from Dnd shorts that captures perfectly why I often try to make the effort of commenting on posts and telling people that I enjoy their work and why Even to small creators, I advice everyone to make the extra effort to tell them, I can guarantee it makes all the difference in the world, it's not cringy or obnoxious, it'll just brighten someone's day
