Decorative Sunday
This Sunday’s decorative plates come from an 1868 publication collecting the seventh year of the industrial and applied art magazine, L’Art Pour Tous, published in Paris from 1861 to 1906 by A. Morel. Our collected edition contains plates from No. 182 (published July 15, 1867) through No. 205 (June 30, 1868). The volume was printed by Jules Claye, originally trained by the fourth generation of the illustrious Didot family, Claye is perhaps best remembered as the printer of Victor Hugo.
The magazine was founded by Émile Reiber, the head of the design studio at French tableware firm Christofle. Claude Sauvegeot, a collector, engraver, and employee of influential architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, served as magazine director. Bearing the full title L’Art Pour Tous: Encyclopédie de l’Art Industriel et Décoratif, the magazine consisted of images with short texts in French, English, and German. While the publication frequency varied over the course of its run, at its height the magazine was published three times a month.
You can find more of our Decorative Sunday posts here.

Come From Away Rant
HOOOOLY SHIT this show was amazing!
If you have a chance to see it DO NOT PASS IT UP!  Here are just a few of the most amazing moments from the show
1. The set was so cool, I was sitting literally right against the stage (front row, slightly right of center, Q. Smith spat on me, yall) being able to see it so close really gave you a feel for how small and intimate the stage is.  Plus I got to see some really cool choreography details that I might otherwise have missed.
The acting was stunning.  I was speechless, honestly.  Julie Reiber had the roll of Beverly, Annette, and Others, in place of Jen Colella and she knocked my socks off.
For a show that focuses heavily on the various emotional reactions to 9/11, this show is shockingly funny.  The bootleg doesn’t show how great the timing and expressions are, but it’s a good start. If nothing else, you NEED to see the “Gayest Town in Newfoundland” bit because it’s just hilarious.
But the emotional moments were perfectly genuine as well. “Me and the Sky” was a real highlight because of how excellent Julie Reiber’s acting was.  Just the way she said the word “Bomb” brought me to tears.  Spectacular.
I mentioned Q. Smith earlier, now I’m bringing her back up because I might be in love.  First of all, early in the show, one of the lyrics was “Wave at all the cars” and she looked right at me and WAVED. So, naturally, I waved back and she looked so happy about it? It was so sweet, honestly. The spitting happened during “I am Here” and honestly her performance was so good I would have let her slap me in the face and still given her ten stars.  Her voice is so powerful, warm, and haunting all at the same time, it feels like it’s ringing inside your chest, sending chills right down your spine.
Another thing the cast recording doesn’t show off: Joel Hatch’s tremendous vocal range.  There were parts when he was holding the lowest harmony, but at the end of “Screech In” he belts this high note and just KILLS it.  He’s awesome.
At the very end of the show, after the bows, the band comes out and plays “Screech Out”, and the flute player leaned over the stage and played his solo right in my face! He even did these funny little eyebrow wiggles that had me in stitches, like it’s so obvious how much these people love this show and love each other.
Could I say a million more things? Yes. If you’re interested in hearing them or you have any questions, please message me!!!

so about last night
I went to a concert the cast of Come From Away was doing at the W hotel in Times Square - EVERYONE GOT DRUNK (including myself) - David Hein and Irene Sankoff sang a song from the new untitled musical they are working on. and it's EMOTIONAL AS FUCK. - The CFA cast threw their shoes at Tamika Lawerence because Q mentioned the first time she heard Tamika sing in Rent Off-Broadway at New World Stages she wanted to throw her shoe at Tamika's throat because she was so good. - Astrid sang My Heart Will Go On and forgot the words - David sang a old song he wrote inspired by him seeing a sparrow trapped in the Toronto subway system and EVERYONE cried. - Petrina sang traditional Newfoundland music LIKE A FUCKING BOSS - Tony LePage sang a song from Rock of Ages COMPLETELY smashed and the entire CFA cast drunkenly sang along with him. - Julie Reiber was so drunk that she was slurring her words while chatting with me and my friend and kept hugging both of us. - Tony LePage tackled me after the show and kissed my cheek. - TAMIKA LAWRENCE KNOWS WHO I AM BECAUSE OF MY INSTAGRAM Bottom line, i got drunk with the CFA cast last night and we all hung like buddies and it was possibly one of the greatest moments of my life.

The Halloween season comes with a lot of tricks and treats. Well, we got the ultimate treat on October 26th, just days before Wicked's 14th anniversary (aka Wicked Day), as well celebrated our 3rd annual ELPHA-BALL! A coven of actresses who have defied gravity in Wicked as Elphaba joined to hare witchy songs and stories from their time in Oz. Mamie Parris (Graizabella in Cats), Caroline Bowman, Laurel Harris (Beautiful), Julie Reiber (Come From Away) and Carla Stickler blew the roof of The Beechman. We also enjoyed performances by our Rising Star Nicole Vande Zande. Enjoy highlights from this epic night here.
