I was thinking about OG!Cale, and like the Thames family in general and I thought it would be cool if the Rings of Life was this kind of unsettling power.
Imagine looking into someone’s eyes, and you see thousands and thousands of circles layered upon themselves, of course, it isn’t really that many, and there shouldn’t be anything in those eyes at all, but the longer you stare the more they appear. You blink, and they’re gone, but the gaze they give you isn’t any less scary.
I’ll be talking about both Jour and OG!Cale in regards to how I think this power affected them. Like idk I just think it would be cool cause being able to see time is such a power, it’s so scary, and it’s so all knowing. I feel like anyone who has it, and uses it often would just have such an unsettling gaze. It’s like their stare is reading you like a book, as if your story is something they can easily unlock with just one glance.
Jour Thames:
I think Jour would have this kind, and calm personality.
She’s bright but at the same time, when she looks at someone she gets eerily quiet which is a contrast to her normal talkative self.
Knowing so much, seeing the fate of others at just a glance is something that would burden anyone. After all, time is not something humanity is supposed to walk hand in hand with. Humans follow time just like everything else does, but the Rings of Life whisper time’s plans into the Thame’s ears.
I think the scariest thing about her would be how casually she would drop some life changing information. She mentions it like it’s just one verse in a poem, short, but impactful.
If you were to ask her what she meant, maybe she would smile and laugh before going back to whatever she was doing.
Original Cale Henituse:
I think in many ways, the Rings of Life would affect Cale like how it affected his mother. He’s committed to doing things right, just like she is. He would do whatever he could to make sure those he loved stayed safe.
No doubt, his gaze would be just as scary and unsettling as Jours. Those eyes stare through your soul and into the very inner-workings of your time and life.
His time is warped. He is an anomaly, someone who technically should have never existed as he did according to the very laws of the universe.
It is because of that fact that he is closer to time than anyone else.
Being close to time himself, I feel like he’d become used to time fracturing like it was normal. For him, that is what he’s seen any time he’s looked at himself with those powers.
Cale would be the kind of person to bring something up suddenly. How it felt like time didn’t work quite right for you, he would look you in the eyes and it would feel like he’s seen everything he needs to know about you.
You would ask him what he meant, but with the way he smiled blankly, it really felt like you shouldn’t pry.

Kim Rok Soo is known to attract cats and dragons.
So, I consider that Cale could be someone who is loved by canids, coming to have an extensive pack in his possession (He just wants to pamper his adorable and furry friends).
The members of the pack would not hesitate to destroy anyone who dared to hurt their beloved "owner".
Ron would observe with mild amusement Choi Han's rivalry with the canines, especially when it comes to getting the redhead's attention or approval.
When he smiles a pair of fangs stick out, giving him a cute but dangerous look. Due to this and due to some misunderstanding from the past, Ron ends up calling him "cub" (The man believed that Countess Jour and the young master were descendants of a tribe of foxes).
He is usually calm and collected, however, he sometimes lets his emotions get the best of him, especially in dangerous or stressful situations. Regardless, he intends to retain some self-control in regards to his energetic and adventurous side (Everyone he knows has witnessed him pass out anywhere from exhaustion, snarl at his enemies, or perform unavoidable actions, solidifying the belief that he's the same as a puppy).

How do I imagine if Jour found out what happened after her death(I'm not talking about the war with the white star and not about Kim Rok Soo.
Jour found out that Deruth got married shortly after her death: Well, I'm fine with that. I wish you only happiness.
Jour found out that Deruth did not comfort their son and allowed him to start getting drunk from the age of fifteen: I hope you understand that I will k!ll you? 🗡️

Ever wonder why Ron calls Cale, "young puppy master"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
of course, Cale got it from someone else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BWAHAHAHHAHAHA
I was scrolling down about puppy while doing TCF fic, It suddenly remind me of them, the young puppy master and old puppy master.
Cale may inherit almost all looks from Jour but nothing to Deruth's expressions.
like how young Jour told Cale's dumbfound look is similar to "half-witted fool" Deruth.
The voice didn’t care and just continued to speak.
– I have this weird feeling that I will like you even though we just met! You oddly look like that half-witted fool Deruth, but you also look similarly handsome as my eldest orabuni!
‘Ah?’
Cale’s pupils started to shake.
Genetic at finest.

Guys, I think I finally understanded the real reason—
You know how Og!Cale said that the truth about his mom's death was a part of the deal? Which means, until that moment, he knew his mom didn't die from an accident, but he didn't know who, how, or why.
And you know how Krs!Cale said that Og!Cale hated thieves, gangsters, and so (I don't remember how he put it and English has different worlds with similar but not exact meanings, so correct me if I'm too far away of the meaning).
And then happened the whole thing with Choi Han.
Guys, did Og!Cale think that his mom died by fault of the people/someone from Harris Village or related to it? Probably for the sequels of a robbery?
I mean, other reasons are also probable, but this one makes sense to me. Because, what we know about the incident (AKA, that time og!Cale insulted Choi Han's dead family and got beaten up for it):
A)Cale's mom died in suspicious circumstances.
B)Cale's mom died after something happened in her trip to Harris Village.
C)At that time, Cale didn't know the truth about her death.
D)Choi Han mentioned the people of Harris Village.
I mean, at difference from Krs!Cale, he probably didn't know about White Star nor Arm at that time. The most suspicious people would be the people from the town because of the proximity.

Almost Saved You With Prayer
Fandom: Trash of the Count's Family
Relationships: Jour Thames/Deruth Henituse, Jour Thames & Original Cale Henituse
Word Count: 1745
Summary: When her son is born, his Rings are strange, and Jour is heartbroken.
Ao3 Link: [Here]
Her son’s birth is a long and painful one, but it is worth it when a bundle of soft fabric is placed gently in her arms, her little baby still crying angry tears. She’s so in love with her child and exhausted from delivering him that she doesn’t immediately notice the Rings of Life that circle around him in concentric, overlapping bands.
“Cale,” she says, her voice hoarse from her own screams. “Cale. His name is Cale.”
“A perfect name for the heir of the Henituse County,” the midwife says kindly. “Shall I send for the Count?”
“Yes.” She’s breathless. Starstruck by the soft red baby hairs on her newborn’s head. He’s still crying, but she doesn’t care. She just loves.
“As you wish, Countess.” With a bow, the midwife leaves, and not even a minute later, her husband comes running in.
“Jour,” he says, panting, his eyes wide and full of wonder. He is quickly at her bedside, his gaze darting from his son to his wife. “The baby?”
“His name is Cale,” she says. “He wants to meet his father.”
Deruth’s hands tremble as he takes Cale from her. One hand under the baby’s body and the other under his head, supporting the weight that Cale can’t hold up yet.
“Hold him closer to your face,” she instructs, “so he can see you.”
Deruth follows her instruction, and something in Cale stalls. His sobbing devolves into sniffles, and then ceases altogether, hazy little eyes blinking imploringly up at his father.
Her husband is suddenly in tears himself.
“Cale,” he says, and his tears fall. “Our son, Cale.”
“Our son.” Jour smiles the words, safe and happy in her mouth. “We’re parents now.”
“We are.” Deruth lifts the baby just a little higher and lowers his forehead to Cale’s. “Gods, Cale. Mommy and Daddy will always be there for you.”
Her smile goes a little smaller at that.
“Yes, we will.”
xxXxx
The next day, when Jour’s brain is no longer flooded with endorphins and exhaustion, her closest maid, Amelia, hands her Cale, and Jour finally notices the Rings around her baby boy.
They start from the chest, as everyone’s Rings do, and then expand outwards, one for every year of life the person will experience. Cale’s Rings are healthy and bright silver, normally reassuring, if not for the fact that there are three sets of Rings. One is the healthy and bright set, another is a dim set of flickering gold, and the last is a rusting brown, sick in its life.
Her breath catches in her throat, and if she were not in bed, she would have surely collapsed.
“My Lady?” inquires Amelia, her tone cautious. “Is everything alright?”
“Oh, yes,” she says. “I was… I was just struck by the wonder that is my baby.”
“He is lovely,” Amelia says happily. “The County is surely blessed to have him.”
“Yes,” Jour agrees. “Amelia, please give me a few moments alone with my son.”
“Yes, my Lady.” And Amelia bows out, leaving Jour to stare at the two sets of Rings, and how the first set cuts off so abruptly and violently in slivers of silver.
“Oh, my baby boy,” she whispers in the loneliness of her bedroom. “What happens to you?”
She reaches out, her hand shaking, and she latches onto that broken Ring, the fortieth band. Her fingernails dig into the noncorporeal form.
Show me, she commands her Ancient Power. Show me everything.
She sees blood and fire and agony and regret. The tear of flesh and bone. A figure kneeling in blood. And she hears weeping and screams and the clash of blades against blades and armor alike.
And then she hears it:
“Do we have a deal?”
“...We do.”
She comes out of the vision crying for her son. She can’t see through her tears.
“Cale, my baby.” She places her hand over her mouth to muffle the sobs. With her other hand, she pulls Cale to her chest, as if to bury him there forever and protect him from that wretched future. “No! No, please, no, not my baby....”
xxXxx
When Jour was a child, she had a brother fourteen years her senior. His name was Ashur, and by the time she was capable of storing memories, he was married with a son of his own,
“Jour,” he said once when she was sighing over a boy at age fifteen. “Don’t be too excited. We are Thames.”
“I know,” she replied, annoyed. Little sisters were always annoyed at older brothers, no matter the age difference. “I can still like them.”
He gave a sad little smile, “Yes, you can. Perhaps I was too harsh. You won’t always be able to enjoy this time, after all.”
She wrinkled her nose, “You sound all old, Orabeoni.”
“I’m decently old, for a Thames.”
“Our parents are older.”
“You and I both know that Mother and Father are the exception, not the rule.”
Her chest became heavy, and Ashur continued, “Time gives the Thames enough mercy to live on.”
“I know,” she whispered, and she pretends not to see the way Ashur’s thirtieth Ring breaks into red sparks of nothingness.
xxXxx
The maids think she has postpartum depression, and she doesn’t know how to explain herself, so she doesn’t correct them. She just continues to pour herself over her old Thames texts, searching for any way possible to spare her son from his pain.
By the time he’s a year old and Deruth tearfully begs her to take care of herself, she has to start looking for a different path.
She pulls aside Head Butler Ron Molan, who’d been hired a year and a half ago.
“Ron,” she says. She bounces her son on her hip to keep him from being fussy. “I’m sure you’re aware that Henituses don’t hire just anyone.”
“Of course, my Lady. This Ron is pleased to have a job here so that his son might be raised well.”
“That’s good.” Jour plays with her son’s red hair that matches her own. “Ron. I know what the Molans used to do on the Eastern Continent.”
“Ho?” His voice is suddenly dangerous and quiet, but Jour knows him, knows his Rings and his son’s Rings, and she thus knows she will be fine.
“I want you to protect Cale,” she says. She looks up from her son’s hair to meet Ron’s eyes. “Protect my son, Ron, and you and your son will never have to run again.”
He relaxes just a bit, but it’s enough.
“This Ron would never do otherwise, my Lady.”
“Good.” She sighs, presses a kiss into Cale’s hair, and says, “Thank you. Thank you, Ron.”
xxXxx
There’s not much else to do after ensuring her boy will live as long as possible, somehow until age forty and eighteen and seventy-three all in one. The Thames studied time, not space, but there are still enough cross-referenced texts in her library that she knows it’s not regression but transmigration.
Her baby will be leaving his family, not just like her, but it will be enough.
When he’s four years old, she runs her index finger around his fifteenth silver ring, the future flashing across her mind’s eye, and thinks, Well, not much of a family. Not much of a father.
She asks Deruth to always be there for her child, to say no when he needs it, and Deruth just laughs.
“Well, he’ll have everything he’ll ever need!” he says. “He’s a Henituse, and your son, at that. How can I say no to your visage?”
She gives a wan, watery smile. That might have been nice to hear before Cale was born, before she saw his future.
“We can’t let him be too spoiled, dear.”
Deruth embraces her from behind, wrapping his hands around her waist and pulling her into his chest. He buries his face in her red hair, “Well, no.  But he deserves it.”
“It would be a disservice to our son.”
He sighs out a laugh, “You’re right. You always are. No, we won’t spoil him.”
“You’ll say no when he needs it? When it’s best for him?”
“Yes, of course. Especially if it’s best for him.”
“Good,” she smiles brighter.
Later that night, she creeps into her son’s room. At four, he sleeps soundly, no longer a colicky newborn or a toddler in pain of teething. She rests her finger on his fifteenth silver ring, and weeps.
Nothing has changed. Her husband is a liar.
Jour doesn’t know what to fucking do.
xxXxx
Jour runs her fingers around Cale’s fifteenth and eighteenth silver rings and tries not to feel betrayed whenever she looks at her husband or the Molans.
It’s not their fault her son is so purely Thames that they believe his act without any training.
xxXxx
Jour’s son is eight and she is on her last Ring. She’s done everything she can for him and still she’s done nothing. There’s only one thing left to do.
One night, while Deruth is out on business in the city nearby, she cries herself to sleep.
When she awakes, she writes a letter.
“To the person who will be living in my son’s body…” She accepts what must be done. The man—White Star—in her son’s future cannot be allowed to acquire her full Ancient Power.
xxXxx
Next week, when Jour leaves for her trip to Harris Village, she kisses her husband. Then, she hugs her son, tiny and small and so full of love that he would destroy himself for children sprung on him with no notice, and she only barely holds back her tears.
“Goodbye, Mama. I love you!”
“And I love you, Cale.” She holds his face, rubbing her thumbs under his brown eyes, and he smiles trustingly up at her, believing that she’s coming home healthy.
Her heart breaks. She hugs him again.
Deruth reaches out to hold her hand while she hugs Cale, and she takes it, giving his hand a gentle squeeze before letting it drop.
She loves him, too, and she would choose him in every lifetime. But she doesn’t want to touch him when she knows what he will do to her son.
Long after the carriage has left Rain City’s limits, she weeps.
She is leaving her son with people who will let Cale rot alone in alcoholism and self-hatred, the joke and scorn of noble and common society alike.
Maybe that makes her worse than all of them.

Okay, get this.
Along with the Thames being descendants of the hunters, (or something like that I don't remember sue me) in their bloodline there were some people who's emotions would show physically. It didn't hit every generation and it wasn't really predictable.
And by that I mean if someone of Thames blood got too excited or sad or anxious, any emotion, it would show.
In their records, there was one girl who if she got too upset by something, the winds around her would start getting aggressive and cause lots of destruction.
They are closest to nature so naturally that's what their emotions will respond to. Usually it wouldn't effect other emotions, just one or two. So if someone who got too anxious caused plants to form everywhere, nothing would happen if they were happy and excited.
I'm hoping you understand where I'm going with this ;-;
Their curse luckily skipped jour, but it became obvious that it didn't with cale once the frustrated toddler set the couch on fire when told that his father was busy and couldn't see him yet.
And jour was so so lucky when the maid that told them left quickly enough that she didn't see anything. But she wasn't fireproof so trying to comfort him was a struggle. In the end, her dress was a bit burnt and there was soot all over her hands and face-
Her son panicked and started crying, ending all of the fire.
As much as jour hated it, Cale was forced to grow up being extremely cautious when angry. It accidentally led to him shoving his anger down and pretending like he was fine. Because most people won't react positively when if you get too angry over something you accidentally set the curtains on fire.
Deruth made sure to tell Cale that he wouldn't get treated any different, that he wasn't a monster and that he still loved him. (Later, Cale would think back and say that Deruth was a liar.)
The day he found out his mother died was the day the ice developed. This time he didn't tell anyone.
Onto cale's regression-
There's combinations of Og!Cale and Krs, right? Where Krs actually gets reborn as Cale and the story progresses like that or something-
I want that but it's switched. Og!Cale on his first life living in the 20 year long war and trauma, then he gets reborn as Krs and omg a new opportunity at life where he won't have to act like he hates everyone AND loving parents?? Sike, more trauma.
As much as the war and apocalypse dulled his anger issues, they are still there but he's just a really good actor. Okay so he reads TBOAH and is fucking creeped out (slightly offended at his description in the story doesn't matter if it's slightly true-) and he's asleep and back to being Cale.
At first, he's confused. After sending Ron to get him water he proceeds to panic in the bathroom. He's terrified. What's happening? Why is he back here again? This is exactly what he wanted to get away from. All rational thought leaves his brain as he proceeds to freeze over the bathroom.
"Young Master are you alright in there?"
Right, not the time to panic he can do that later.
Time to put on a show.
---
Basen actually saw Cale get angry enough for that one noble kid's jacket to set on fire.
He was surprised because there was seemingly no way for that to have happened, then he saw a little flame on Cale's boot and panicked. Hastily stepping on it to put it out because Cale just protected him he didn't want him to be hurt.
Basen saw this fleeting look of fear in his eyes until it was gone and Cale delivered those words he still keeps close to heart even after all these years.
---
I could probably expand on this a bit more :>
Oddly enough I think this is one of my favorites

Been having thoughts about Jour who loves Cale so much it became rather twisted.
Mute Cale AU
Jour psychologically manipulated Cale to be a mute around everyone else and only talk when it's only the two of them.
She also 'made' Cale to appears always happy and full of smile in front of other people.
The reason? She loves his son's voice so much she doesn't want to share it with anyone else. She loves when he smile rather than crying, so she want to keep him smiling.
The noise others ever heard from Cale is only a humming or little giggles.
Overall, he is such a sweetheart and cheerful kid.
As he grow up, he became a kind hearted person. Everyone in the territory loves him.
Since Cale only talks when he is only with Jour, he hasn't talked at all after her death.
The first time he ever cried in front of people other than his mother was at night when he found out that his father went somewhere without telling him not long after her mother's death.
He was following Ron to his son Vicross. He sat on a chair, watching the father and son duo interact.
Cale doesn't even know since when tears started to fall but the next thing he know, he hiccuped.
It's surprised the other two they immediately went to check on him who was crying silently with silent hiccups here and there.
This is the first time they ever see their young master crying. He always full of smile. Even after his mother's death, he still has a small and somber smile on his lip.
As always, I need to make Roksoo appear in some of OG!Cale stories I have. This one is one of those.
The Soos are transmigrated way before the TBOAH timeline at the forest of darkness. They met CH earlier.
Roksoo haven't read the novel, so they follow CJS somewhat guidance.
They live in Harris village. But even though they know the village's fate, they can't change it. So the massacre still happens.
By the time they need to go to the Henituse territory, Roksoo already has the shield.
He doesn't meet the cat siblings because Cale already takes care of them.
When they jump on the territory wall, they are greeted by Cale who coincidentally is on the opposite side of the wall. He was taking a night stroll with two cats in his arms.
Jung Soo jumped when his eyes locked into Cale's wide, surprised eyes. They just stand there looking at each other.
When Soo Hyuk takes a step closer to him, Cale tenses and takes a step back. It makes the other try to be more careful around the young master.
They hastily try to explain their situation. Cale relaxes a little but is still wary of them. He eyes them critically before he lets down the kitten and signs something.
The four Koreans are confused.
Since it's a different world, hand signs are a lot different. Sure there are some that are similar but it still needs time for them to learn if they ever need to.
Seeing them confused, hesitantly he asked for one of them palms. Jung Soo volunteers his palm. He wrote something on his palm.
"Huh? Cale?"
Cale nodded and pointed at himself. Jung Soo tilted his head before realization dawned on him, "ah! Cale" said him while pointing at Cale.
Cale perked up and nodded again. He pointed at his palm then himself then them and wrote something again.
Jung Soo understands his meaning and introduces himself and the others. They talk some more that way before Cale signs for them to follow him.
He opens his arms to let the kitten climb in them. Soo Hyuk tries to ask why he doesn't talk but Cale just smiles at him. Him and Roksoo know that this boy is Cale Henituse, the supposed trash young master. But what they see is completely different. They also can see Jung Soo's confusion.
They meet Ron at the front door. The old man was eyeing them dangerously. Bless Cale who distracts him with small talk. He signs at a rapid pace but the buttler able to follow. He ushered Cale to go to Vicross.
To say that their walk to the count office is tense is understandment. But they are lucky that the Count is as benevolent as rumor.
They then went to Kitchen 2. There, they found Cale signs to a scary chef. Then they heard it, a voice from the back of his throat that sounded like a happy sound. The Koreans found the sound adorable.
Idk what to add anymore.
Oh! The first time Cale talks in front of everyone is when that one moment when Ron is hurt. Cale was crying and with hoarse voice that haven't been used for years he whine, "R-ron, d-don't leave me-"
If someone ever mentions how Ron tears up? A dagger will fly past them or find all their drinks turned into lemon.
Let's say that there is a competition after that to be the next Cale talk to. Especially between Vicross, the kids, and the three Koreans.
I have one more but I still try to work around it. I may or may not share it here.

Recently, I've been thinking about why the Henituse family can't talk about Cale's mom. I've been considering different options. And that Deruth loved her too much and it was very painful for him to remember her. And that he just decided to cut her out of his life in order to quietly start a new one (this theory went very well with how Cale's place in the family was practically taken away from him. Even if it was by the will of Cale himself. But Cale didn't just decide that it would be normal).
But recently I came up with a new option.
I think he was just ashamed in front of her. It's a shame that he got married so quickly. It's a shame that he just abandoned the upbringing of their son. Deruth is not stupid. I'm more than sure that's why he spoils Cale so much. He behaves like a parent who feels that he no longer has the right to raise his child. And this usually comes from a sense of guilt.
My opinion is quite simple. Deruth had the right to get married, even if it was too early. It's his own business. There are some people who just can't be alone. After all, the woman he brought into the house was very nice. Violan accepted Cale as a son and never wanted to take anything away from him. I'm more than sure that if Deruth had married someone who would have been a classic stepmother to Cale, he would never have left it.
So the only thing he should really be ashamed of is ignoring Cale.
What do you guys think?
