these are organised roughly by how much i'm itching to play them!! most muses have at minimum a slice of life and a genre (supernatural, sci-fi, horror, etc) verse. the first verse listed is their main / default and any others are alternates / by request.

i am open to all kinds of plots, though as ever my preference is romantic connections! currently only looking to ship with men because i'm too gay to function. the ideas listed are just some starting points.

kamran mustafa (riz ahmed) is a softhearted, hardheaded man of the people ⇾ slice of life: formerly homeless, now running an unofficial halfway house in the poorest part of a city, he's all about grassroots action and giving everything he's got to those in need ⇾ dystopian future: an important figure in the rebellion against the elitist powers that be, often throwing himself directly into harm's way for the good of others & ideas: friends to lovers with another grungy weirdo, opposites attract with some corporate dbag

orion kemper (joshua bassett) is a cocky genius with too much money and zero self-restraint ⇾ slice of life: after graduating high school at 14 & college at 18, ri sold an app for a stupid amount of money and has spent the last 4 years dicking around ⇾ supernatural: born werewolf with a permanent sneer at bitten wolves, set to inherit alpha status of his family pack one day (if he doesn't get himself killed first) & ideas: friends to inappropriately cuddle, older men for him to top, someone unimpressed with him

lysander crawshaw (archie renaux) is jaded, paranoid proof that curiosity killed the cat ⇾ supernatural: still recovering from being possessed by belias, a greater demon, lys struggles with the lines between reality, dream and hallucination ⇾ slice of life: raised in a cult, lys brings with him a truckload of trauma, a sprinkling of self-hatred, and a dollop of dang adorable & ideas: someone who is his anchor to reality, someone with a similar experience, someone he can start over with

tiberius cooper (rudy pankow) is brash and loud, but in a cornered animal kind of a way ⇾ horror i: the "final girl" of a group of friends (including his twin brother) who were targeted by a serial killer while on vacation, tib sleeps sitting up holding a knife ⇾ horror ii: after his identical twin brother livestreamed a string of violent crimes (think 'spree'), tib has all but become a recluse for his own safety ⇾ slice of life: having never really recovered from the sudden death of his twin brother, tib covers up his debilitating anxiety by being the most obnoxious guy in the room & ideas: someone who knew him before everything (esp. exes of his twin), someone from a support group, some morbid weirdo who is drawn to the darkness in him now

elliot hawthorne (charlie hunnam) is a soft, sweet nerd who loves to take care of people ⇾ slice of life: a film professor who was recently dumped after five years with his ex, ell's students have been complaining lately that they'd like to watch something other than dardenne brothers movies, thanks & ideas: student or former student, friend who always thought he could do better than his ex, co-worker

beatrix calhoun (marisa tomei) is a trainwreck in motion, barely keeping up appearances ⇾ celebrity: a well-known musician who has been active since her early twenties, beatrix is still in love with songwriting and touring, leaving no room for anything else ⇾ slice of life: an artist who manages to charm the pants (often literally) off various wealthy / connected people to keep her afloat & ideas: fan, young musician who looks up to her, touring band member, ex who is also in the industry, producer, step-son, kid's friend

dandelion corrigan (tom hardy) is a cynical witch who believes his family is cursed ⇾ supernatural: an actual witch, with an actual curse, piecing together an existence in the woods making herbal remedies and mild infatuation potions for the locals ⇾ slice of life: an oddball from a pagan-ish family who makes his living selling things from his little farm & making ointmints, certain he'll never be happy & ideas: let's break this curse yo

ava blake (sarah michelle gellar) is an enigma at best and a nuisance at worst ⇾ espionage: a well-trained assassin / spy, ava has discovered a nefarious plot within her organisation that is no good very bad ⇾ slice of life: a single mom very much inspired by lorelai gilmore, ava runs a cafe / bakery / bookstore called the nook and has no time for your nonsense & ideas: rival spy / double agent, normal guy caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, another single parent

athanasios wilde (ben barnes) is very, very bored, to the point of insanity ⇾ supernatural: an immortal shapeshifter, ath's lived hundreds of lives in hundreds of bodies ⇾ crime: a significant general in his father's crime family, ath is a particularly unsettling kind of ruthless & ideas: another cursed immortal or someone seeking to become immortal, unsuspecting normie drawn into his bullshit

peregrine talbot (brenton thwaites) is extremely polite, but probably making fun of you ⇾ supernatural: a fae prince, beholden to the 'seelies can't lie' rule, perry is fascinated by mortals, occasionally living among them ⇾ slice of life: trust fund kid with a scholar's mind, perry is actually nice, as long as you don't interrupt him & ideas: mortal who falls into the fae realm, supernatural creature who needs his help, classmate from college, friend from the wrong side of the tracks

taliesin rafferty (darren barnet) is me proving trans guys can be fuckboy dbags too ⇾ slice of life: tal vibes are scrolling grindr while he's on a date with you, sneaking out while you're in the shower, pretending to forget your name so you don't get attached & ideas: best friends with feelings, the guy who sees through his bullshit, the guy he chases long enough to fall for

phoenix dawson (mason gooding) is a genuine, no shit, actual nice guy with no trauma ⇾ slice of life: a dance teacher with a heart of gold, nix believes in random acts of kindness, smiling at strangers, and telling the people you love how much you love them loudly and often & ideas: long term boyfriend / husband for domestic cuteness, trainwreck best friend he's always there to pick up when he falls, guy who bullied him in high school

edoardo "eddie" mancini (frank grillo) is the typical salt of the earth every man, doing his best to get by ⇾ slice of life: after the tragic death of his wife, eddie is finally forced to confront the secret he's always kept about his sexuality and hopefully figure out some kind of happiness (while his kids [24 - 38] mock him for being uncool) ⇾ any other genre: bewildered mechanic stumbles into supernatural shit / ends up in the apocalypse / some other shit, chaos ensues & ideas: someone from his past he once hooked up with, a friend of one of his kids, please lord let him get picked up at like a farmer's market or some shit, customer who leaves his number, barista who writes flirty messages on his cup, etc

mischief members cast in starkid shows part 1: me and my d*ck

hello hello, welcome to me casting the members of mischief comedy into musicals by team starkid. aka my two interests rolled into one. i'm doing all of the starkid shows except avpm (because i found it too hard) and ani (bc i feel like i don't know enough about star wars). which means the first show is me and my d*ck.

a couple of notes that will apply to the whole series:

i didn't cast based on vocals because i don't know enough about singing to do that. purely based on acting and characterisation.

i've only cast using people i have personally seen (aka anyone from tgws and mmni). people i am more familiar with will obviously be cast more bc i understand them as actors better.

my reasoning ranges from "detailed list of characters they've played in mmni that have the same type of characterisation" to "idk vibes". enjoy that.

with that, let's go:

joey richter: dave hearn

i think he'd be very good at it, at times joey really gives max vibes so that works. he could pull off the awkwardness with vanessa and then the romantic bits with sally, and the combo of him and dick (below) would be chaotic and brilliant.

dick: matt cavendish

listen. LISTEN. it would be hilarious. his portrayal would definitely be different to joe's, but i don't think that's a bad thing. as i said, the chaotic vibes he and dave have when they perform together in mmni fits really well for this show.

sally: susan harrison

i think she could really pull off the sweetness and dorkiness. her and dave haven't played anything romantic before, but they have a good stage dynamic and i think it could work quite well.

miss cooter: lauren shearing

no explanation just vibes

vanessa: bryony corrigan

no it's not because of her tgws character. i just think she works really well with the part. she has a great dynamic with dave as well, so it just felt like the natural choice.

tiffany: charlie russell

good dynamic with bry, good dynamic with sue, and i think she could nail the vibes.

the old snatch: henry lewis

do i need to explain??? it just feels so right. especially when you factor in flopsy. he also has the right dynamic with charlie.

flopsy: henry shields

do i need to explain (part 2)??? him and hen as flopsy and the old snatch is a combo made in heaven. also good dynamic with bry.

joey's heart: greg tannahill

"listen to your heart" has "we are the ensemble" vibes ngl. idk i just really think he has the right energy for the part.

big t: joshua elliott

reminds me of panda gary from good guys finish last, but also the way he has a bit of a redemption made me of samantha from ipswich it up or jimbo jumbo from fraud of the blings. i just think he makes a good villain.

weenie: ellie morris

quite literally six from wild feast. like that's it that's the character.

sally's heart / high council pussy: rhyanna alexander-davis

she'd be great all round, but especially in the ice-cream scene (my memory of mamd is fuzzy but you know the bit i'm talking about). also they haven't interacted before, but i think she and greg would have a fun dynamic.

rick / the kid that hates joey: harry kershaw

an iconic role for an iconic man.

rick's dick: jonathan sayer

it makes me think of dennis in a trial to watch for some reason... like i just think it'd be great. especially him interacting with shields as flopsy.

This whole fashion conversation is pissing me off bc the looks we've got so far are actually amazing...... My favorite one was definitely the Austin one.

All the looks were pretty thought out (in my personal opinion) like he decided to design the first outfit for the first show(sentimental🥺)with flowers on his heart 28 on sleeves and 28 programme with red ascents on a black top with a crew neck and it looked amazing

The second show jumper literally made him shine

Andddddd to the people who had a problem with him not dressing like a "celebrity " I thik Tom Holland wore a pretty similar jumper for the spiderman movie promo it was not the EXACT same but it was a black jumper with yellow patterns

Andd the Houston outfit.... It was pretty good too like I don't see the problem 😭😭 . A lot of louies were happy that it was from an Indian- Nigerian brand and it looked good on him so again I don't understand all the "outfits ugly conversation"

Ik there was a thread of Louis clothes which other celebrities have also worn... I'll try to find it (it was mainly Kristen, Rihanna and Travis Scott)

Anywayssss my point is that just bc he doesn't go on stage evry single in "only high end brands" Doesn't mean the outfit isn't good. (And we know why they think so)

To me this whole thing seems like people who have never attended a non pop concert complaining about stupid shit . Larries so far have only complained about tour Or tried to find nonexistent "proofs" And "connections" Which is not surprising but is slightly annoying. I just hope they stfu and enjoy the tour content .

Charlie Bone Timeline: Book 6

*Note: This book takes place in February 2004.*

Sunday 8th February: Charlie and Paton look at Diamond Corner; Asa’s parents are sighted. Dagbert and Lord Grimwald enter the city. Grandma Bone returns to 9 Filbert Street after a falling out with her sisters.

Monday 9th February: Dagbert starts his first day at Bloor's Academy; Charlie is assigned to look after him. Dagbert creates conflict between Charlie and his friends.

Thursday 12th February: Dagbert tells a bedtime story after lights-out, causing Charlie to get detention when he is caught.

Friday 13th February: Charlie and Billy have detention. Billy tells Charlie about Dagbert and the howling.

Saturday 14th February: Gabriel sees his father give the Red Knight the Red King’s cloak. Venetia marries Arthur Shellhorn.

Sunday 15th February: Gabriel asks to put on the cloak, but his father tells him that it’s disappeared. Venetia forces Emma and Miss Ingledew to babysit her stepchildren Miranda and Eric Shellhorn. Charlie, Billy and Benjamin visit Mrs Kettle’s shop and later help Miranda and Eric retrieve their dog Chattypatra from Darkly Wynd. Mrs Kettle gives Charlie Feromel’s kettle. In the evening, Charlie sees the two not-quite-humans outside 9 Filbert Street (through the window); Paton confronts them and is bitten.

Monday 16th February: The town holds a meeting to discuss the Wilderness Wolf and decides to hunt it down. Benjamin figures out that Asa is the Wilderness Wolf and comes up with an idea to find him.

Tuesday 17th February: The Red Knight visits Mrs Kettle to ask her to make a special, unbeatable sword for him. The hunt for the Wilderness Wolf begins.

Wednesday 18th February: Bart’s family leaves the wilderness because of the hunters (early morning, close to 1am). Naren sends Charlie a goodbye message. Dagbert turns twelve at exactly 1am and confides in Charlie about his endowment. Benjamin contacts Cook to tell Charlie to get some of Asa’s clothes so that Runner Bean can track him. Charlie, Fidelio and Olivia search for some of Asa’s clothes in the drama room.

Friday 20th February: Billy decides to stay in Bloor’s Academy for the weekend. Paton leaves to visit his father at Ocean View.

Saturday 21st February: Early in the morning, Charlie, Olivia, Benjamin and Runner Bean go into the wilderness to search for Asa Pike; they end up rescuing his mother instead. The Red Knight is at the wilderness end of the bridge when the kids and Mrs Pike are trying to cross. He rescues Runner Bean when the dog falls into the river. Once safe in the Pets’ Café, Mrs Pike tells the kids about Merromals and that the Bloors are searching for a pearl-inlaid box. Later on, Charlie, Olivia and Benjamin meet Lauren, Lysander’s new girlfriend, and her parrot Cassandra. At night, Emma Tolly uses her endowment to explore Piminy Street and sees Mrs Kettle forging a sword and Eric animating a stone creature.

Billy Raven is trapped by the Shrivelling Shroud and temporarily loses his ability to understand animals.

Sunday 22nd February: Emma and Olivia go to Mrs Kettle’s shop to ask her about the sword she is creating. Charlie is already there Mrs Kettle tells Emma, Olivia and Charlie about the sword she is making for the Red Knight. After leaving the shop, Charlie runs into Benjamin who has lost Runner Bean. The two boys go to Darkly Wynd after realising that Runner Bean has gone to see Chattypatra. At Darkly Wynd, the boys encounter Miranda and save her from the animated stone troll. Charlie agrees to take Chattypatra away from Darkly Wynd to protect her.

In the afternoon, at the meeting in the Pets’ Café, Gabriel tells Charlie and the others about the missing cloak, prompting Charlie to think that the Red Knight might be an impostor. After leaving the Pets’ Café, Charlie goes to the kettle shop to warn Mrs Kettle about the Red Knight. However, on the way there he is lured into a trap by the Branko twins and Joshua Tilpin, who want him to stop trying to find and rescue Asa Pike. Charlie is saved by Tancred, who blows the twins and Joshua into a field outside of the city. Tancred then accompanies Charlie to the kettle shop. Mrs Kettle tells Charlie and Tancred about the magical hilt she wants to add to the sword. Charlie travels into the kettle and sees where Feromel hid the magical hilt. Charlie, Mrs Kettle and Tancred find the hilt and attach it to the unbeatable sword.

The Red Knight goes back to Mrs Kettle for the completed sword.

Monday 23rd February: Asa Pike is rescued, with Bartholomew’s help. The Red Knight fights the stone knight that Eric conjures up.

Tuesday 24th February: Charlie receives a postcard from his parents with a message written in his father’s hand.

Canon Wolfpack Family Connections

Compiled information and family connections that literally took weeks for me to tie together correctly. All information/clues taken from The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide. It’s still kind of a mess, but that is literally SM’s fault lol. Ateara Line: *Jacob and Quil are 2nd cousins on the Ateara side - Jacob's mother was Sarah Wilde, Quil's father's first cousin. Quil Ateara II, of the previous wolf-pack, is their mutual great-grandfather. *Leah, Seth, and Emily are second cousins on the Ateara side. *Leah & Seth are second cousins with Brady (On the Clearwater and Black lines as well) and third cousins with Jacob and Quil on the Ateara side. (Brady is also third cousins with Jacob through the black and Clearwater lines) *Claire, Quil's imprint, is Emily's niece and therefore Quil's third cousin, once removed. *Quil and Bella are 2nd cousins (Quil's grandma is Charlie's great-aunt, Molly Swan, who was married to Quil III, aka Old Quil). This makes Quil V the mutual cousin of Jacob and Bella (and of course Renesmee and Claire). *Quil's great aunt, Amelia, is also Sue's grandmother. *If Jacob and Ness have kids, their children would be BOTH Quil's 2nd cousin, once removed, AND his third cousin, once removed. *Quil and Claire's children would also be their own second AND third cousins, once removed. Uley Line: *Leah and Sam - third cousins. *Leah is the mutual cousin of Sam and Emily. If Sam and Emily are related to each other, it is at least seven generations back. *Sue is Sam's 2nd cousin, once removed through the Uley side and her maiden name is Uley. She and Sam's father, Joshua Uley, share a set of great-grandparents. *Sue's great-grandfather, Caleb Uley, married Alice Huautah, who was the granddaughter of the First Jacob Black, Jacob's fourth great grandfather. *Paul is Leah, Seth, and Sam's third cousin on the Uley line but his blood connection to Jacob, Rachel, and Rebecca is seven or more generations back (Because, remember - everyone with the wolf-gene descends from Taha-Aki. They are ALL related, however distantly. *Paul and Rachel's children will be Leah and Seth's cousins three, four, possibly five times over with the Ateara, Black, Clearwater, Uley, AND Young family lines all combining together. They will also be siblings/cousins.

Black Line:

*Leah and Seth are third cousins with Jacob, Rachel, and Rebecca through the Black family line *Jared is Leah and Seth's third cousin once removed on the Uley side - He is fifth cousins with Leah, Seth, and Jacob on the Black side. *Collin is Jacob's first cousin through the Black, Clearwater, Young, and Ateara lines. He is third cousins with Leah and Seth through the Black lineage but his connection through the Littlesea/Clearwater lineage is unclear. (Harry’s mother was a Littlesea) *Jared is Fifth cousins with Jacob, Leah, Seth, and Collin through the Black and Clearwater lines, but is not part of the young line. *Billy and Sue are second cousins, once removed through the Black line, their common ancestor the first Jacob Black.

*Jacob is also part of the Young and Clearwater lines. Ephriam's wife was Martha Young, Jacob's great-grandmother. Ephriam's mother was Jane Clearwater. This makes Leah/Seth and Jacob/Rachel/Rebecca fourth cousins on the Clearwater side, though SM didn't provide the information to figure out the exact placement in the Young line. Emily's placement on the young line is in question as well but Emily does share at least one great-grandparent with Leah and Seth through the Ateara line. Her grandparent, however, remains unclear. It is either Daniel Clearwater OR Brady's great-grandmother, Lucy. *Sue and Harry have a mutual great-aunt by marriage, Jane Clearwater - This makes Billy their mutual cousin by both marriage and blood, creating yet another crossover in Jacob's lineage.

*Jared's imprint, Kim, is potentially the only imprint that is NOT already related to the rest of the wolfpack in some shape or form. Since we're never given her last name lineage, that's a big if lol.

Things I love about "Spirit of the Ducks"

An abridged list, based on first impressions. Most below the cut, but I have to mention:

The Gala is such a Hendrix event.

The score (sound cues, pop song choices) ❤️

Charlie is a petty, rejection-sensitive man-child. Do I miss Joshua Jackson revisiting that character? Yes. Do I love his pettiness anyway? Also yes; I think it's in character in a cyclical way.

Fulton Reed in general. I love watching Elden Henson in general, and Fulton's my favorite Duck. As the First Duck, he takes the lead when Charlie's not there and it would be inappropriate for Connie or Adam to do so.

I love how we don't actually know what Ken does, Fulton's in construction or infrastructure, Connie's in public service, and Guy appears to be a stay-at-home dad to 3 kids and their friends.

Averman! He dropped the annoying cadence, but he still spins a good story.

The polite but firm rejection of Coach T, first by D5 & Ken and then by Evan.

As far as we see, Evan's the only young player to go up to D5 and Ken, and when he reframes why Bombay isn't at the gala, the adults get it immediately.

The awards scene

The scene at the Ice Palace with the limo? Even better than the promo image.

Coach T: He's hyped up at the Gala, but unless there are Minors or college experiences that were glossed over, he's even more of a never-was than Bombay.

Y/N has cared for her best friend, Ginny Weasley’s, older brother Ron for as long as she can remember, but every time it he shows any sort of affection back, its not long before he moves onto the next girl.

I got my driver’s license last week Just like we always talked about 'Cause you were so excited for me To finally drive up to your house

Being muggle born, you always knew one day you would eventually have to get your license. Without the ability to use magic outside of school, driving a car was the second best way to get around. Last week, on the exact day of your sixteenth birthday, you finally passed your drivers test. You were ecstatic, you had been talking about finally being able to drive a car with all your friends, both muggle and magic, for years now, especially with the Weasleys.

You and Ginny had become friends during second year, both being in Gryffindor and all, but it wasn’t until fourth year that you realized how unlucky you were to have a best friend with such handsome brothers. Bill, Charlie and the Twins were far too old for you, so was Percy but your issue with him wasn’t so much age, rather how much of a priss he was. Ron was like god in your eyes. Only a year older than you and Ginny, but somehow he seemed to much more mature.

To be clear, you never used your relationship with Ginny to become close with him, he was more and added bonus to being friends with a girl like Gin. When Ginny and Harry became closer, it only made sense for you to spend more time with Ron, now that both of your best friends were occupied. He loved to listen about your life as a muggle, he heard a lot from Hermione, but your stories were just as interesting. When he found out you were to get your license this Summer, he wouldn’t stop talking about how you could just drive to The Burrow and visit them for days on end. It made you happy when he would seem so excited to spend time with you.

“Ron you do realize this is no more exciting than when my parents would drive me to your house.” You laugh at his planning for all that you’ll be able to do now that you have your license. You were in the common room just after dinner, trying to distract him from the fact that his sister and Harry had just snuck off to the astronomy tower. He hadn’t asked about either of them just yet.

“I know, I know. But you’ll be able to come whenever you want now, no one has to drive you to us, it’s all you.” He laughed with you, but slowly began to stop, looking almost out of breath. His eyes kept switching between your eyes and your lips, which made your heart catch in your throat. “Bloody hell, when did you get so gorgeous.”

This made your cheeks heat up, the thought of Ronald Weasley thinking his kid sister’s friend is anything other than just that. You don’t respond, feeling as though all the words you could’ve said were stolen from your vocabulary. His right hand reached out to grab your cheek, his thumb moving across the soft skin that was turning more and more pink by the second. You couldn’t help yourself from turning your eyes toward his lips, his tongue running across his bottom one.

“Ron,” You finally croak out, the only thing you could manage to say in your flustered state.

He doesn’t respond, only ducks his head down until you’re just centimeters from each other. You can feel his breath, hot against your skin. You couldn’t take it anymore, closing the gap between your lips. The first time you ever kissed Ron Weasley. Your heart was doing gymnastics as your brain was trying to comprehend what in the hell was happening. His lips were soft compared to his calloused hands. You had kissed other boys, plenty actually, but this wasn’t like any of the other kisses you’d ever had.

He pulls away from you, steadying his breath. He presses his forehead to your, staying like that for a while. “After you get your license you can come ‘round my house and we can do that for a minute before anyone even knows you’re there.”

It wasn’t long after your kiss that Lavender Brown came into the picture. In the back of your head, you hoped that after what had ensued in the common room, he wouldn’t give the girl a second look. She’s beautiful, curly blonde hair, blue eyes, and more confident than you could ever dream of being. She started by complimenting Ron in the great hall, he didn’t think much of it until he realized just how much Lavender fawning over him boosted his ego.

The worst part is that she was his age. There was no chance of him thinking of her as just a child, just his sister’s friend. She was everything you wanted to be and more. It’s not that you didn’t think of him the way she did, you just didn’t have the nerve to say it to him. After you kissed in the common room, and in his room, and in your room, and in the random broom closet on your way back from class one day, you found yourself even more nervous around the ginger than before. You still felt the exact same way you did you years.

After Gryffindors win over Slytherin, all thanks to Weasley, the Gryffindor common room was absolutely buzzing. Screams and shouts about how Ron Weasley saved the day, chanting his name over and over. You and Ginny just watched from the side, letting him bask in his own glory before you went to say anything to him.

“You really like him don’t you?” Ginny asks, pulling you from your gaze. You looked at him with the biggest smile on your face, clapping along to all the chants. “And don’t lie to me, I know a face of a girl in love with one of my brothers when I see one.”

You could feel your cheeks turn red when she caught you, but still smiled as you couldn’t help yourself. “I guess I do. He’s different, you know? Never felt this way about anyone.”

Ginny just rolled her eyes, but you knew she was happy for you. She secretly had always wished you’d end up with one of her brothers so you could be sisters one day. Just as you’re about to make your way over to congratulate the boy, Lavender Brown, with all her confidence, pulls him down my his arm and plants her lips on his. You freeze in your place, heart dropping to your toes, hoping to every god there is that he doesn’t kiss her back. But he does. Just feet from where he first kissed you only months ago, he wrapped his arms around the blonde girl and you feel your chest burn. Ginny grabs your hand, forcing you to look away from the sight in front of you, and drags you down to your dorm. She doesn’t say anything, doesn’t make excuses for her brother, just strokes your hair as you stare at the wall in front of you. You don’t cry, you can’t bring yourself to do it. The beautiful things he would say to you over the past few months about how he felt when he held you or what you would do together when you could finally drive to the Burrow. The things that made you fall head over heels in love with him, all of it felt like a lie now. Because now he’s kissing that blonde girl in the place he kissed you for the first time as if you had been erased from his mind.

You couldn’t avoid the Burrow forever, Ginny is still your best friend after all. She had sent countless letters in the weeks leading up to your birthday, begging you to come and see her so you could drive around like a bunch of muggle teenagers.

Your heart couldn’t quite take the idea of driving up to that house, the one where he lived, the one that he gushed about you driving to and kissing in the back seat of your car, but that didn’t matter. You thought forcing yourself to face what you didn’t want to see was the only way you could heal.

He isn’t with Lavender anymore, you half expected after their breakup that he would come to you and apologize, tell you he meant all the things he said to you and that he never meant to be with her. But he moved on quicker than you expected, and not to you. To Hermione. That hurt worse that seeing him kiss Lavender. Even when he was with Lavender, you would catch him in the common room and he would smile at you, touch your leg and say things that made your heart burst.

“I still think about that night, you know? In here.”

It felt wrong for him to be saying those things to you, especially while he was spoken for, but you never stopped him. It wasn’t until he fell ill after being poisoned that you realized he never loved Lavender. You, Ginny, and Hermione sat by his bed while he was unconscious. When Lavender came in carrying on about her ‘Won-Won,’ he began whispering Hermione’s name in his sleep, and you knew it wasn’t Lavender you had to compete with, it was Hermione Granger.

Ginny grabbed your hand like she did at the Gryffindor party and led you out of the hospital wing where you spent hours next to him, just for him to say her name. You cried this time, knowing now you weren’t his second choice either.

Now here you are, driving up to the Burrow with tears in your eyes because all you could associate with this place was how your heart would beat out of control when Ron would speak about you visiting him. You couldn’t bring yourself to hate him though, how could you? You spent years caring for him before he showed you even the slightest bit of affection, you were used to being disappointed by Ronald Weasley, it never made you love him any less. He stopped saying the types of things he used to now that he was with Hermione, perhaps you were just a place holder for her. He didn’t ignore you, which was actually worse, you wish he would just pretend you didn’t exist. Instead, he pretended like you never meant anything more to him than being just his sister’s mate, like you never kissed him, like he never told you how much you meant to him.

The house buzzes with energy and you fix yourself before getting out of the car. The twins are batting in the yard while Molly yells for them from the kitchen. You’ve always loved the Burrow, how much noise there is compared to your house, but today you dread walking in.

“Y/n!” Molly greets you, patting her hands against her skirt before pulling you in for a hug. “How I’ve missed you sweet girl. Come, come! I have a little something for you, I know its a week late but I couldn’t let your birthday pass with nothing!”

She pulls you into the living room where a tiny wrapped box lies next to the couch, next to Ginny, Ron and Hermione. Ginny smiles as soon as she sees you, jumping up to pull you into a tight hug. Ron and Hermione don’t get up, just say hello from their spots on the couch before going back to whatever they’re talking about. Your heart aches.

Mrs. Weasley hands you the small back, urging you to open it. Inside is a necklace with a small red gem and a lion pendant. You gasp at its beauty and its thoughtfulness. “Oh Mrs. Weasley! You shouldn’t have!”

“Merlin, y/n, how many times must I tell you to call me Molly!” She scolds you with a laugh. “It’s nothing, really dear. You’ve meant so much to this family for so long, it would be like not giving a birthday gift to my own child.”

You smile for a moment before remembering that Ron had forgotten your birthday. You got letters from Ginny, other friends from school, even the twins and Harry had sent you a short message, but not Ron. “Oi, is it your birthday?”

“Last week.” You correct the boy, not wanting to speak with him any further.

“Ah, sorry mate, I forgot.” He says nonchalantly. “You got your license, right? You get a car too?”

You simply nod and look toward Ginny for help, she immediately intervenes by saying, “Well, y/n promised she’d take me for a ride. Want to feel like a muggle teenager for once. See you all later.”

“Be safe you two!” Molly yells after you as you make your way to your brand new car. The twins shout about you ‘sweet wheels’ before you take off with Ginny.

“I’m sorry about him, y/n.” She apologizes for her brother as you pull further from the house. “He’s a real git sometimes.”

“S’alright Gin, I’m here to see you anyway.” You assure her, trying to hide that your heart breaks every time you see her brother. “Now where to?”

You truly thought he felt the same way you did about him. How could you not? The night after you kissed Ron Weasley for the first time, you found that you couldn’t escape him, not that you wanted to. You would see him in the great hall, in the common rooms, in the hallways, he was everywhere and gave you butterflies every time he looked your way.

He would pull you away from your friends to sneak a kiss in a broom closet or in his dorm, making you feel like you were in a movie. He said the most lovely things to you, telling you he wished he had fallen for you sooner, but he would never be so open around his friends. Around Hermione. You never minded, as long as you had him in some shape or form.You usually had higher standards when it came to liking a boy, but you’d never felt the way you felt about Ron with anyone you’d ever liked.

“I love the way your hair gets messy throughout the day,” He whispers to you after you had finished snogging in his dorm. “How do you look so beautiful, always.”

“I think you made it this messy you idiot,” You push his shoulder, trying to hide your blushing cheeks. “Now I have to fix it.”

“No, don’t!” He stops you, grabbing your hand, interlacing his fingers with yours. “Lay with me for a minute. I want to hold you for a while.”

Your heart was beating out of his chest for him and only him. As his arms snaked around your body, lips pressing to the skin of your neck, you never felt more content. “I feel at home when I’m holding you like this.”

When he said those things to you, how could imagine him ever moving onto someone else so soon. How could he say those things to you and so quickly be okay with losing you like that. You couldn’t wrap your head around how he told you that you felt like home just before kissing Lavender Brown right in front of you, then completely erased you from his past to date Hermione Granger.

Whats worse is whenever you go to the Burrow, you can always hear Ron playing his guitar, even from Ginny’s room. You think he does it on purpose, just hoping you’ll cry yourself to sleep or something. It brings back memories of the nights you spent in the boys dorm, drunk off fire whiskey, as he sang made up songs to you as he strummed along with his guitar.

“I want to hold you close forever, ‘cause you’re the kind of girl I’ve only dreamt of. And my heart burns when we’re together, can’t help but smile with you my darling love.”

He sang, very poorly, but still sang. Your heart skipped a beat when he sang those words. “Ronald Weasley! Did you just call me your love?”

“Shut up,” He teases, throwing a pillow toward you. “You know I don’t think before I speak when I’m drunk.”

And now he was singing words just like that to Hermione Granger as you sat in Ginny’s room, tears silently spilling down your cheeks. He obviously didn’t mean those words he sang to you not even six months ago, if he did he wouldn’t be singing them to Hermione. You obviously have two different meaning of forever, because hiding your relationship from his friends, only to turn around love two other women, doesn’t sound like your version.

As you drive back up to the Burrow, Ginny in the passenger seat of your car, you can’t help but hurt over the thought that he should be there with you.

D3: The Mighty Ducks (1996) is the best Ducks movie and a flawless coming of age movie

It’s no secret that The Mighty Ducks are a beloved trilogy. The three films spawned a professional NHL team named in their honor, 2021 sequel series, as well as many knockoff films released in the 1990s. But with any movie series, fans tend to rank the films and have passionate opinions on which is the best. For most Ducks fans, the answer is simple: D2. It has the Bash Brothers, Team USA dominating, the iconic “Ducks Fly Together” scene and two Queen songs. What’s not to love? But upon a rewatch of the trilogy, I came to realize that it’s not D2, or even the original, that is the best in the series.

It’s the criminally underrated 1996 D3 that for me, is the most mature and has the most heart. Perhaps it’s that the Ducks are now old enough to carry their own weight on screen. Perhaps it’s that the film takes a look at trauma, specifically trauma in teenagers, and how that manifests itself. Perhaps it’s that the film is maybe ahead of its time, in the way it discusses classism, racism and sexism. There is so much about this overly hated film that makes it the best Ducks movie and a perfect coming of age film.

The movie starts presumably a few years following the Ducks’ win against Iceland. They all look noticeably older - definitely older than the middle schoolers we left behind in 1994 - and all of the male Ducks’ voices have dropped a few octaves. Gordon Bombay, played by Emilio Estevez, is presenting the team (except for unfortunately, Jesse Hall, a leader among the Ducks who would’ve made for a strong presence in this mature film, as well as Portman, but we’ll get to him later) with scholarships to his alma mater, Eden Hall, a preparatory high school in Minnesota. Charlie Conway, played by a young, pre-Dawson’s Creek Joshua Jackson, is the Ducks’ captain and unspoken leader. There’s been much debate over the years over whether or not Charlie is the true captain of the Ducks. Adam Banks, played by Vincent Larusso, is far and away better than practically every Duck combined. Fulton Reed, played by Elden Henson, has shown more maturity and leadership at this point. It’s probably true that the Ducks as a team think that Charlie is Captain because of Bombay’s favoritism towards him (and his mother), but I think that this film makes it abundantly clear why Charlie is the captain.

D3 is Charlie’s story. We see that in the opening scene, when Bombay tells Charlie he will not be following the team to Eden Hall, accepting a job instead in California. We learned in the original Mighty Ducks film, that Charlie and his mother left a bad situation in Charlie’s father when Charlie was very young. We also hear about Charlie’s mother, Casey’s marriage to a new man in the D2, who we can assume from what Jan says, that Charlie doesn’t like. We see in that first film, Charlie’s reaction to Bombay announcing that he is leaving the Ducks after the two of them have formed a bond. It is very clear that Charlie deals with abandonment issues, stemming from trauma in his early childhood. Charlie freaks out when a D3 Bombay announces the same thing, and storms off.

Change is the biggest theme in D3. We see how change affects each of the Ducks, even those who don’t get many lines. Some, like Russ Tyler, played by SNL’s Kenan Thompson, think it’s a good thing. All of the Ducks don’t come from good neighborhoods and we assume that most of them don’t have the best home lives, especially when Charlie tells their new coach, Orion, played by Jeffrey Nordling, that the Ducks are the only good thing that any of them have had. Going to a preparatory school should be a good thing for them. But for most of them, it’s not. The new Ducks (who by the way, three of which are people of color, and one of which, is a woman) are immediately told that “their kind” is not welcome at Eden Hall. The Varsity team claim that they feel this way because the captain’s younger brother was not admitted onto the JV team because of the Ducks’ scholarships, but it’s very clear what they really mean. Russ commented that he’s the only black person on the whole campus earlier, and he, Luis Mendoza (The Sandlot’s Mike Vitar) and Ken Wu (Justin Wong) are the only people of color we see in the film. Change takes a toll on each member of the team. We see it the most in Charlie, but we also hear from Fulton on how the separation from his best friend, Dean Portman (Aaron Lohr), who decided not to enroll at Eden Hall, is taking a toll on him. Connie (Margerite Moreau) and Guy (Garrette Henson) have presumably broken up, as the two small scenes we get of them, they are arguing. It’s a transition period, one that the first year of high school often is. But it’s also a look on how a rich, white privileged world is vastly different than the one that the Ducks are used to.

Coach Orion seems like a hardass, especially when he tells Charlie at their first practice that he will no longer be “Captain Duck” (as coined by D2’s Gunnar Stahl, played by Scott Whyte, who now plays the level-headed Varsity goalie Scooter). This, to the Ducks, is a line in the sand. Ever since Bombay turned District 5 into the Ducks four years previous, Charlie has been their captain. They’re in a whole new environment, where the man who gave them so much happiness and so many friendships isn’t, and their “little Duck tricks” won’t work anymore. Orion thinks Charlie is a showoff, and perhaps he is. This Charlie is vastly different than the sweet, shy Charlie we see in D1 and D2. But this Charlie is older, has just been abandoned by a man he considered a father, and is being harassed on a daily basis for being, as Varsity Captain Reilly puts it, “white trash.” I find it hard to believe sometimes that fans can look at Charlie from the outside, and not see who he is on the inside. All of Charlie’s closest relationships that we see portrayed in this movie, are with women. His mother (who he, as a teenage boy, says “I love you” to in the final scene of the movie), his teammates, Connie and Julie, who he gets a lot more screentime with, and with new love interest, Linda (Margot Finley).

I think now is a great time to talk about the shockingly impressive way all of the female characters are portrayed in this series, particularly this movie, especially for a 90s sports film. Connie has always been a leader on and off the ice. She’s in a relationship with Guy, but it’s not her only character trait. Dubbed “the Velvet Hammer” by Averman (Matt Doherty), she stands up for herself, and for her shy teammates (she literally shoves Peter Mark - a character cut out of D2 and D3 for good reason - in D1 when he insults Charlie) and stands up to the entire Varsity team despite them telling her that they hope they can “fight” with her later. Julie “The Cat” Gaffney (Columbe Jacobsen) is the second best player on the Ducks, despite the little ice time (thanks, Bombay) we see her have. She is the first person to tell of the Varsity, telling Captain Reilly that his little brother “just wasn’t good enough.” She’s a huge facilitator in the fire ant prank and despite the very weird and out of character game she had against the Blake Bears, shows that she deserves the number one goalie slot that Reilly gives her - despite what Goldberg, and the obvious underlying sexism there, have to say. I’ve also always been very impressed with Charlie’s mother, Casey (Heidi Kling). Although she has a romance with Bombay in D1, she makes it clear from the get go that her first priority is Charlie. We know that she took the two of them away from an abusive situation, and she’s a goddamn hero for that. Her scenes in D3 are limited, but they always show her chastising Charlie’s antics and encouraging him to stay in school. It goes unsaid, but it’s clear that she knows that he’s not going to get an education this good in the problematic public school system. But according to Linda, Charlie’s love interest, the private school system is no better. The first time we see Linda, she is protesting the “outdated” Warriors team name. This was in a 1996 kids movie, no less. She holds her own against Charlie, calling him out when he’s wrong. No one aside from Charlie, and maybe Fulton, get much screentime or lines aside from Bombay and Orion, but her presence and the point of her character is clear - not every rich person agrees with the horrible things that wealthy people do.

Back to the plot.

When the Ducks receive their positions, they learn that Banks, as a freshman, has made Varsity. From an outside perspective, they seems obvious. Banks is the best player we see in any of the films, definitely miles better than the losers on Varsity, so it seems obvious that he would be promoted. But Banks is unhappy with this. Adam Banks is a fan favorite character, definitely due to the sweet, understated performance by Larusso, but we don’t see much of him. From what we do see of him though, he underwent a huge character arc from D1 to now. In D1, Banks goes against his father’s protests and joins the Ducks, claiming that he “just wants to play hockey.” Here in D3, we see that Banks is utterly miserable despite playing with some of the best players in the state, purely because he’s not with his friends. At the end of the film, he makes the (questionable) decision to rejoin the Ducks and go against the Varsity. But Varsity seems to feel that Banks fits in with them, for obvious reasons. He’s the only Duck who comes from an affluent background, and he’s definitely the most clean cut. Captain Reilly is visibly angry in the final showdown with the Ducks that they no longer have Banks on their side, as if he’s betrayed “his kind.”

The turning point of the film comes when after Charlie has quit the freshman team (no longer the Ducks), Hans, a father figure to the Ducks and Bombay, suddenly passes away. It’s an insanely dark moment for a Disney film, especially when Bombay returns to the funeral and reminds the Ducks that it was “Hans who taught them to fly” and Charlie storms off, crying. I think Joshua Jackson, in the Ducks films, as well as in Dawson’s Creek, is phenomenally good at portraying teenagers who wouldn’t normally be seen as leading men. Who let their emotions overtake them, who have anger issues, who deal with familial problems. Characters like that in leading roles were almost unheard of in the 90s, and in the upcoming scenes, it reminds us why this side of Charlie that we’ve seen throughout the movie is not the only side of Charlie.

Bombay takes Charlie to the rink to see Orion skating with his disabled daughter, who was injured in a car accident. He reveals to Charlie that Orion quit the NHL to take care of her, and this immediately changes Charlie’s opinion of him, but he’s still unconvinced about rejoining the team. The next scene is without question, the greatest and most important scene of the trilogy. The last two films spent way too much time telling us how great of a person Bombay was, how he was the Minnesota Miracle Man,despite us seeing so little of that onscreen. We see him making mistake after mistake, hurting the team, being an unjustified dick to those around him. But this scene more than makes up for all of that. I’ve put the quote from this scene below.

Bombay: I was like you, Charlie. When I played hockey, I was a total hot shot. I tried to take control of every game. I wound up quitting. So I tried the law. I ruled the courtroom, but inside, I’m a mess. Start drinking. Man, I was going down. But then this great thing happened, maybe the best thing ever - I got arrested and sentenced to community service. And there you were - Charlie and the Ducks. And as hard as I fought it, there you were. You gave me a life, Charlie, and I want to say thank you. I told Orion about all of this when I talked to him about taking over. I told him that you were the heart of the team and that you would learn something from each other. I told him that you were the real Minnesota Miracle Man.

Charlie: You did?

Bombay: I did. So be that man, Charlie. Be that man.

It’s a callback to D2, when Jan tells Bombay “Be that man, Gordon. Be that man.” This scene is flawless. Every good thing that has happened to the Ducks, came because of Charlie’s heart. It came because of that game when Charlie refused to cheat, and made Bombay see his wrongs. It came because of when Bombay first tried to quit the team, and seeing how hurt Charlie was, agreed to stay. It was Charlie who stepped out of the game against Iceland so that Banks could play. It was Charlie who found them Russ. Giving the credit to a young, emotionally unstable teenager, rather than their Emilio Estevez, hotshot Bombay, is the best thing this series ever did.

This movie, in my opinion, is nearly flawless. Every moment has been planned to make the same point - change sucks. Especially when you’re a teenager. Even more so when you’re a teenager with trauma.

Amalthea vs the Boring Talk

"Also, I'm definitely gonna need all the gossip on the famous Bella Swan."

Things in the Swan household were much different compared to living with Joshua Swan. The dynamic was different, very different. You were able to walk without seeing a beer bottle on the counter. The light switches worked on the first try. You did not have to slam your fist on the washer for it to begin its cycle. You could shower without having the water be near freezing.

Yes, things were different. Amalthea felt weird having things be easier.

It was quite the shock when the ebony-haired teen didn't wake up shivering from being so cold, her fingertips weren't turning blue for the first time in a while. Joshua and his daughter could only save enough money to have heat and warm water maybe twice a year. The two were accustomed to the cold, so they usually spent the money on more useful things like beer and books.

Charlie Swan had decided to take the day off to spend with his niece. Not a soul walked through the police station without hearing about the arrival of one Amalthea Rue Swan. The entire staff of the diner had even heard about the young girl! Therefore, nobody questioned why Charlie decided to take a personal day for the first time in years.

Bella Swan on the other hand fought to feel anything anymore. Days passed by being utterly bland. She felt like nothing. Everything was surrounded by painful memories. Sleep couldn't even be used as an escape. It was invaded by nightmares that began to plague the brunette once her boyfriend- ex boyfriend now- left her stranded in the woods. Talking even seemed to be too much to handle. Being happy or feeling anticipation was halted for so long that Bella thought she may never feel either emotion again.

Amalthea woke up disorientated, the bad dream that ran through her mind as she slept led to hear waking up panicked and in a sweat. God, she felt like ass.

Catching the breath that escaped her lungs when she startled awake, Amalthea made her way to the bathroom to splash water on her face. Turning the knob upward, water spurted out of the shiny faucet. Bringing two hands to cup the water, the teen felt relief fall on her shoulders as the ice cold water began to slow her fast paced heartbeat.

Drying her damp face with a towel, Amalthea decided to head downstairs to see if Charlie had awoken yet.

Seeing the brown haired man, Amalthea rubbed her left eye and spoke softly, "Good morning, Uncle Charlie."

Charlie twirled the top half of his body away from the brewing coffee to face his tired niece, "Good morning, Thea! How'd the first night sleeping go?"

Amalthea decided she liked when he called her that nickname, so she responded with a weak thumbs up and grabbed the box of Cheerios that was calling her name. Charlie opened the cabinet to get a bowl and spoon out, handing them to the teen. Thea nodded in thanks, pouring the cereal into the bowl and topping it off with milk she found in the fridge.

Taking a seat at the dining room table, Amalthea spooned the first bit of cereal into her mouth.

"After you finish eating we can talk about school and all that boring stuff."

Thea looked at the man in disscontempt, "Yeah, yeah. I know, so boring! It'll take a couple minutes and I'll take you to get paint after."

Thea gave her uncle a rock-and-roll symbol as a sign of agreement. Charlie watched her do so in amusement, her silence in the morning and use of hand signals reminding him deeply of his deceased brother.

Slowly slurping the remainder of the milk in the bowl, Amalthea stood to wash the dishes she used. Quickly doing so, she fell back into her chair and sighed, looking in her uncle's eyes. He snorted, "Don't look so excited there, Thea."

The girl slowly blinked, unimpressed. Charlie took the hint and began talking.

"Okay for starters, you'll start school on Monday-- which is good since it's only Saturday now-- and Bella will give you a ride there. She knows you're here, but she's going through some, uh- things right now. Oh hey- maybe she can introduce you to Jacob! He's your age, lives on the reservation, they've been hanging out a bunch lately-- good kid.

"Anyway, I thought it'd be good if she took you. It might be embarrassing to have your uncle taking you to school in a cop car-- yeah no it definitely would be. Back on track, we can get some notebooks for you today when we pick up the paint and whatever else you might need."

"Done?" Amalthea picked her head up off of her arms.

Charlie grinned widely, "Yep!"

"Yeah I totally thought that was gonna last forever. Kinda surprised you didn't even mention any rules. Also, I'm definitely gonna need all the gossip on the famous Bella Swan. You've got me all intrigued now, man."

Charlie chuckled, "Rules totally slipped, let's stick with--"

Amalthea butted in, "Tut-tut! Nope! None were mentioned, none gonna be followed. Sorry Uncle Charles, that's just how the cookie crumbles!" The teen giggled at Charlie's unamused face, moving to go upstairs.

"I'm gonna go get ready, hope you're down to take me shopping for paint now cause I really wanna paint today."

Charlie sighed and shook his head defeated, "Yeah, okay-- be ready in, what do ya say, 20 minutes?"

Thea hummed a mhm! and ran up the stairs, taking them two at a time.

Neelamani "Neal" Sampat (The Newsroom, 2011-2014)

Neal would be the coolest Dad ever, but for now he remains to be terrified of kids. As a young twenty something in New York City of all places, when in the actual heck would he interact with someone under 21?

The shift comes when Mac and Will come home with Charlie II. Everyone in the office goes to the hospital with gifts. Neal does too. But for some reason, Mac makes Neal hold him, out of everyone! Even Kendra! Who has actual kids! Charlie II looks up and smiles at Neal, big brown eyes totally clear. Huh. Not so scary after all.

Joshua Madika (Modern Love, 2019)

Okay, Josh respects kids in theory, but he doesn’t actually know that much about them. I mean he’s an only child, he never got that ‘oldest brother’ thing of having to raise your siblings when your parents are fighting.

But then you get pregnant, and he’s so happy. He can’t explain why he’s happy, but he’s researching everything he possibly can. There are Dads in the office, he can ask them for help right? And help arrives in the form of Lily Munez, age five, who was sent home from school for getting sick on the playground. Her father is stuck at the fire station, and her Dad is wanting to get a project from work done, despite Joshua’s insistence he can leave.

Joshua may be the best boss ever, because they make her a spot to rest in the break room. She smiles, saying “thank you” in the tiniest voice, and something inside of Joshua just...flips. Every employee that Wednesday agrees not to go in, as to not disturb her.

I mean. He doesn’t know about kids, but he can learn right? They’re portable for the most part? He’s got enough money for college, so that’s good.

Maybe it’s gonna be fine.

Deon Wilson (CHAPPIE, 2015)- don't watch this movie, DM if you want a scene pack of Deon.

Deon would be absolutely terrified around a child. He already barely understands adults, what the hell is a kid gonna do? Not to mention the fact that they’re breakable and stupid and sticky. But then he actually meets a kid: Kyla, age 9.

She’s the niece of a co-worker, and she’s hanging out in his office for the day. She’s confident, and she calls Deon Dee-o, because it looks like half of her teeth are missing. He thinks the actual construction of kids is scary. They can just drop teeth like that? Insane.

The flip comes when he gets to start explaining to Kyla. Kyla’s hanging on every word he says, and she repeats it back and asks appropriate questions. She’s also clean, which is nice. She’s coming back next Tuesday to hang out and learn more!!

Anwar Kharral (SKINS UK, 2009)

Anwar’s brand is being the bachelor. The eternal bachelor. The hoe. Forever and ever and ever and ever and ever. It’s exhausting and he’s starting to hate the fact that this is all he’s known for. People think this is as deep as he gets.

And then he meets the two of you. You’ve got a kid from a previous relationship, age 3. Your son got away from you in a park and bowled RIGHT INTO Anwar. It was true love instantly.

And later, you fell in love too.

Anwar hadn’t dated someone with kids before you, but Anwar’s determined to get what he wants. He cuts out all the drugs, alcohol, insane parties. He gets eight hours of sleep for the first time in years, and he actually is drinking water!.

He keeps up the bachelor brand for safety reasons, but it’s all about you. He’s all about the three of you now.

David Copperfield (2019)

David was totally fine with kids. He worked closely with kids as the oldest at the factory, and he sees them as tiny people. He knows how to handle them, and it’s normal. Kids are just normal. But he’s twenty six now, a published author, and things have changed. He meets Oliver when he tries and fails to pickpocket David. His form was fine, but David was too tall for Ollie to reach.

He tells himself he’s only taking care of Oliver until he can track down his parents. It’s a long shot, but David won’t be fazed by a cold paper trail. A reunion is optimistic, but stranger things have happened in London. But deep down, both of you know that the two of them together is fate. They’re starting to act alike, and David’s become somewhat obsessed with decoration in Oliver’s room.

Oliver wants to be just like David, he’s said as much.

Sir Gawain (The Green Knight, 2021)

Gawain thinks kids are cool in theory. When he’s out on the road, he has a lot of time to think. He mostly thinks about a life he wants to have with you.

Gawain has seen kids running around the villages he crosses. He doesn’t interact with them much, but they seem fun. They’re small, loud, and squishy. Those are all things he likes!

I mean, he'd rather have a dog at this point. But kids are...interesting.

Sanjay "Jay" Menha (The Wedding Guest, 2018)

Sanjay Menha LOVES kids. You remember the first time you saw Jay hold a baby. A Mom was struggling on the plane. Jay would have helped more, but it was hard enough to get into his seat. He’s a pretty large man. So Jay just offered to take her baby so she could get her luggage set.

The baby squeaks, and Jay makes a face.

Sanjay. The love of your life, pulled a funny face. It was like for a minute, all the hard edges softened. The Mom takes her baby back, and the flight starts. You hold his hand to ground you through the fact that there was something else about him that you didn’t know. Jay likes kids. He likes them a lot.

Sheru "Saroo" Brierly (LION, 2016)

Saroo’s never let himself see far enough into the future to see a family. In a situation like his, it always felt as if time was going to run out, or that he wouldn’t make it that far. He’s been keeping himself in the playboy, post-grad bubble while he heals from reconnecting with his lost family.

But on his next trip, he crosses paths with Laxmi. She’s about eight, and she lives on the streets with her older brother Sai, who’s closer to thirteen.

As an outside observer, it’s not entirely clear if they actually like Saroo. It would be more accurate to say that they just didn’t leave him alone. And why would they. Seeing the three of them together, it’s something you can’t quite place. They just make sense, and all three of them know it.

When they get back to Australia, Sai gets a bike, and Laxmi gets a doll.
