Johnathan: The Nice Relative

He's the one who hosts the parties because the rest of them aren't willing to have their houses absolutely fucking destroyed

No matter what happens, he smiles and laughs as the rest of the family runs around the mansion, accidentally destroying multiple very expensive things in the process.

As a conversationist, he's very nice to everyone, and always listens to anybody and pretends to not be offended at all.

"Oh! No, it's fine, Its an easy repair!" *Meanwhile in the background, curtains are ripped off, the windows are broken, the rug is on fire, the kitchen table has a leg missing*

oh yeah did I mention he does all of this shit himself

Joseph: The Extremely Strange Relative

Oh boy, this man has seen some shit!

He will always tell tales of his grand escapades at the dinner table, about the time he met a human bubble dispenser, partnered up with *GERMAN SOLDIER*s, found out that his extremely hot mentor was actually his mom which made the entire thing where he looked through the keyhole extremely awkward and fought the three Aztec gods of fitness and their one child whose names happen to be eerily close to names of rock bands.

He then has to fight off everyone else saying that his stories are fake, despite the evidence that proves it.

By the way, all of this actually happened.

"OH WOE IS ME, Y/N!! NOBODY BELIEVES ME WHEN I SAY THAT I SLAPPED THE BAND CARS INTO SPACE WITH MY SEVERED ARM!!!!"

Jotaro: The Quiet Relative

He just sits in a corner and doesn't talk at all.

If someone comes up to him, he just answers their query in an extremely blunt fashion and stops all eye contact.

"Yes Y/N, starfish can walk. Now go away."

Josuke: The Offensive Relative

He keeps cracking adult jokes like he does to his friends.

He also has very controversial opinions, both serious and non-serious.

e.g. Aliens are real (Mikitaka lmao), pineapple belongs on pizza, etc...

As much as you want to laugh at all his jokes and tell him how funny he is, you have to pretend to be disgusted because everyone else is, pepe the frog sadge moment...

"I’VE COME TO MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT! DIO'S A BITCHASS MOTHERFUCKER! HE PISSED ON MY FUCKING GREAT GREAT GRANDPA! (Johnathan I think) THAT’S RIGHT, HE TOOK HIS NONEXISTENT SPIKY DICK OUT, AND HE PISSED ON MY FUCKING GREAT GREAT GRANDPA! AND HE SAID THAT HIS DICK WAS “sO pOwErFuL” AND I SAID “THAT’S DISGUSTING!” SO I’M MAKING A CALLOUT POST ON MY TWITTER.COM! DIO, YOU GOT A SMALL DICK! IT’S THE SIZE OF STEELY DAN'S STAND, EXCEPT WAY SMALLER! AND GUESS WHAT?! HERE’S WHAT REAL DICK POWER LOOKS LIKE!"

He then proceeds to destroy the entire house and then fix it, before breaking it again.

Giorno: The Talented Relative

Giorno is a man of many talents. Literally.

As the kid of DIO, he was encouraged to be extra special by his biological father after being taken out of his abusive household.

On top of run the biggest mafia family in Italy, he can play the piano and violin, draw realistic stuff far better than the most talented people on Fiverr, cook extremely high-quality food, and negotiate his way out of basically anything thrown at him.

Oh yeah, and let's not forget the infamous SHOVE YOUR EAR INSIDE YOUR FUCKING EAR CANAL-

Although he is talented, he is still super well rounded, and whenever someone complements him, he always tries to downplay his own talent and pulls the uno reverse card and complements their talents.

Overall, super chill, very nice.

Jolyne: The Cool Relative

Man, she is C O O L

You look up to her for her high levels of S W A G, something about all that confidence and badass energy oozing out of her like the disappointment of the Hollow Knight community when Silksong is delayed for the 69420th time. (Haha obscure joke)

The fact that she's a basically a vigilante hero just adds to that.

Also gives good but also bad advice about life in general, and helps you with a lot of things.

The Jojos and their favorite seasons

(only doing Parts 1-5 because I didn’t finish watching/reading the rest of the series)

Johnathan Joestar

Late Spring/Early Summer 👒

He definitely seems like he’d enjoy the outdoors, there’s just so much more things to do! But Johnathan wouldn’t want to do anything in weather that’d be so hot to the point it’s unbearable. A good balance for him is around late spring and early summer.

Johnathan would spend his time going on long strolls and cute picnics with loved ones, engaging in sports or fun activities or just volunteering/doing charity work around his town. Johnathan would definitely keep himself preoccupied as well, I don’t see him sitting around in his house all day.

Joseph Joestar

Summertime☀️

Joseph would prefer the summertime 100%. I could see him having really bad spring allergies which he’d be whining about 24/7. He also hates being cold. So the summer would def be his top pick.

Honestly? He would probably be up to his usual shenanigans, mainly just messing with people, pulling pranks, typical teenager Joseph stuff. Similarly to his grandfather, Joseph wouldn’t enjoy being inside the house all day. He wants to be out and about!

Jotaro Kujo

Autumn or Winter🍁

I don’t see Jotaro liking the sweltering heat at all. He often wears jackets and layered clothing, and the summer would just cause him to feel really sweaty and gross. Same with when he wears his hat in the summer. The stoic man doesn’t complain much about it though, he finds no meaning in it. But that doesn’t stop Jotaro from preferring cooler weather altogether.

Jotaro also likes being around as little people as possible. Less opportunities for enemy stand users, after all. So the cooler months are often his go-to picks for that reason. But his schedule wouldn’t change much though and Jotaro would probably be doing the same things all year-round, especially when it comes to his work.

Josuke Higashikata

Winter❄️

Let’s be honest, the only reason Josuke likes the winter so much is because of all of the holidays! He loves getting together and spending time with his family and friends and eating delicious food. He also likes all the breaks he gets away from school, snow days, i could go on and on!

Josuke will usually spend snow days playing videogames, building snowmen with Koichi and Okuyasu, or just fucking with Rohan honestly. I can imagine them all playing dumb pranks on him, like covering his front door in snow, throwing snowballs at him everytime they see him, etc. 60% of the time spent in the winter would literally just be Josuke fucking with Rohan and I’m here for it.

He also likes throwing icicles and snowballs at Rohan’s windows for fun just to piss him off because why not?

Giorno Giovanna

It Varies

I feel like Giorno likes little aspects of each season. He likes how the plants bloom so beautifully in the spring, but also appreciates the social atmosphere of Naples in the summertime. Giorno doesn’t mind the fall, even thinks that the way trees look when their leaves turn brown or when they get covered in snow are beautiful.

Similarly to Jotaro Giorno wouldn’t do anything too different, he’d still be busy managing Passione as the Don so I don’t think he’d have much room for free time. But on the off chance that he does, Giorno would spend it enjoying the nature (or snow) around him.

Ok here me out So I have this story on Ao3 about Kanae being the reincarnation of Johnathan Joestar because they’re both kind and they both don’t get enough screen time. I feel like some people undermine Johnathan but he’s just as amazing as the rest of the Joestars. I only realized it later though but still; Johnathan and phantom blood was the foundation of JJBA, you know? I’m trying to keep some the characters the same but where’s the fun in that. The story is like a mixture of playwright and story wring so it gets confusing. I’m surprised some people actually read my hot garbage. It’s called Echoes of Saints.

This is the picture. It started on Wattpad but then I just moved it to Ao3. I hope that one day if I ever finish this story that I might rewrite to do do better but if anyone wants to read it go get ‘em.

P.S Kanae is a boy in the story. I have a thing for gender benders and feminine men. So yeah Kanae looks and sound like canon Kanae but is a dude.

The Beast

Werewolf Speedwagon x female reader

Continuation of: Autumn Moon

Warnings: angst

Please enjoy.

Ever since they returned from the Gypsy camp, [Name] was unable to look at Speedwagon the same way. She had been so blind to all the evidence that laid around her but now she could see it clear as day. Speedwagon was the beast that has been terrorising the streets of Ogre Street for the past seven months.

How? How could he be that monster? Speedwagon was, despite his reputation, one of the sweetest men she has ever had the pleasure of meeting, to imagine him transforming into a merciless, ruthless beast every full moon was something that made her heart clench and her eyes prick with tears. There was an air of denial about it all that [Name] wanted to wrap herself in, not wanting to believe it but, with all the evidence laying before her, that sense was ripped away from her.

She hadn’t told him she knew, she didn’t know how to. Or maybe, she just didn’t want to believe it. Instead, she drowned herself in that book she was given, searching through each and every page for anything that could indicate to a possible cure or anything that could help him. Nothing of such a thing turned up. The closest it offered was a silver bullet to the chest or head, and that made the tears spill. No. There had to be another way that did not involve Speedwagon’s death. He may have killed others but [Name] refused to believe he did it willingly.

Closing the book, [Name] buried her face in her hands, her shoulders shook with soft sobs.

It stung lightly now. The imprint of the rosary burned into his palm was fading but it still stung slightly if he clenched his hand but the fact that it was there hurt more than one would think. Speedwagon did not ask to be this.... animal. He was not a religious man but he often wondered what wrong thing he did in his life to deserve such a horrific curse to be forced upon him.

He could still recall that night so vividly. The fog that engulfed the air, shrouding him entirely and robbing him of his sight. The bright glow of the autumn moon hanging over his head. That cold sensation of being watched. Then, that thing. It lunged at him from the fog, eyes burning with an animalistic hunger and rage that he had never seen before. Scorching agony struck his shoulder as the beast’s fangs sunk into his flesh, hot blood spilling down his arm as he tried to free himself from the monster’s grasp. The blade he kept tucked away in his coat drove through the side of its head, burying deep into its brain until it fell motionless.

Speedwagon remembered watching that thing change, the large beast breaking down into a man. That was what scared Speedwagon the most. That the man that laid where the monster once did was someone he knew. It was one of the guys of the Ogre Street gang, a new one who had recently moved to England from America. The shock and fear that consumed Speedwagon that night, though, was nothing for what was to come for him in the approaching weeks.

Images of those horrific nights plagued his dreams, the faces of those he had mercilessly slaughtered screaming out at him, their hot blood coating his body as he tore them limb from limb. Each time he awoke from those awful nights coated in blood that didn’t belong to him, he always feared who’s blood it was. And each time he feared he would go home to find his beloved nothing but a mangled corpse in the centre of the room. That was what he feared the most.

There have been too many nights where he has awoken in a cold sweat, gasping for air and almost chocking on tears as he was blinded by those nightmares. He would search for [Name] to often find her laying beside him peacefully. With that, he was always afraid of waking up one night to find her gone or a bloody mess.

The torment that he had endured had gotten to the point where he felt he could take no more. The barrel of the gun would be pressed against his forehead and his hands would shake violently as he wrenched his eyes shut, trying to force himself to pull the trigger and end all the torture. But he never could. He would always end up throwing the gun across the room and breaking down, cursing himself for being too weak to do anything. So if he was unable to do anything then he went to someone who he knew could. Johnathan Joestar.

With no way out of this Hell, Speedwagon had begged Johnathan to promise him that if he started to get too out of control, started killing too many people, then Johnathan would draw his weapon and kill him. The man was reluctant at first, the mere idea was horrible but the desperate, pleading look in Speedwagon’s eyes was enough to make him promise. So that was secured for Speedwagon if it became too much. He would rather be dead than kill his friends and the love of his life.

However, as he gazed out the window, watching as the sun slowly inched closer to the horizon, he could only pray that he didn’t kill someone he cared for. God, have mercy on his soul.

[Name] watched as the sun began to fade off in the distance, her fingertips gently brushing over the ring that he had given her long ago. A tightness clenched her chest, everything was so much brighter then. With a deep breath to calm herself, she turned and turned her gaze towards the stairs, knowing that Speedwagon was up there. She had to do this. She needed to let him know that, no matter what happened, she would still be there for him. Regardless of the situation, she loved Speedwagon with all her heart and the idea of him suffering was painful.

She made her way up the steps, each step making her heart clench more but she ignored it. She needed to be strong for both herself and Speedwagon. “Robert?” The blonde male looked up at the sound of his name to see his [Hair colour] lover standing in the doorway, a solemn expression on her face. His immediate instinct was to approach her and take her into his arms, the need to comfort her guiding his actions to do so.

She stood there, still as stone, which made him unsettled. “What’s wrong, darling?” he asked softly, gently rubbing her back as a gesture of comfort. She took a breath,

“I know.” Speedwagon’s eyes widened slightly, his heart drummed against his chest. No, wait, maybe she was talking about something else entirely. “I know... what you are.” Any hope that flickered in his body shattered at that. Cold, grasping fear took its place, spreading its branches throughout his body as he tightened his hold on her. Why? Why did he have to be the one who suffered?

He felt her arms raise up his body, pushing him away slightly only to cup his face softly. Their eyes locking. There was no fear in her [Eye colour] orbs, only a spiralling concern for him.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” she asked softly, her voice trying to remain calm in hopes to soothe Speedwagon. He tore his gaze away from her, forcing it to the floor with his head hanging in shame. A weight dropped on his shoulders that could have easily broken his spine if it wished to.

“I couldn’t....” he forced out, his voice barely above a whisper. “I’m afraid, [Name]. I’m afraid of it.” He wasn’t just afraid of it, he was terrified of the monster that lurked beneath his skin, lingering in the back of his mind waiting to be freed as it scratched at his head. [Name] furrowed her brow with concern, she could hear the fear in his voice. She wrapped her arms around him again, holding him close.

“Robert, I love you. I will always love you no matter what, and I will do everything I can to help you through this.” she told him, pressing a kiss on his lips. Tears pricked his eyes. She was such an angel, he must have been blessed to have her in his life. She has been his light, his hope and his world long before this curse was inflicted upon him.

As the two held each other, a sudden piercing pain struck Speedwagon’s chest, forcing the blonde man to release her and clutch his chest. His eyes widening at the pain. No, no, no, no, not now!

“Robert?” [Name] took a step closer to him only for him to push her away, pained groans slipping his lips as a light sheen of sweat began to form on his brow.

“[Name]... go please...” he force out, his words mixing with low growls as he fell to the floor, curling up on himself in an attempt to almost hold himself down. The beast within has awoken and it was going to free itself. Nails sharpened into claws as his bones broke apart just to reform. [Name]’s eyes widened at this, fear flooding her body. Speedwagon groaned in pain, his head snapping up at [Name] as his chocolate brown eyes melted into a bright golden glow.

“Go! Get outta here! I-I can’t....” He forced his head down, feeling his teeth sharpen into fangs fit for a predator. “F-Find JoJo... H-He’ll protect you!” That snapped her from her trance and she did as he told her, and ran. She ran as fast as her legs would carry her, the pained screaming echoing behind her. Speedwagon could feel his humanity slipping away, the animalistic instincts taking its place as his transformation continued until there was nothing left of the man who was there. Only the beast.

The path was anything but smooth for the [Hair colour] female as she sprinted down it, hearing the bone-chilling howl of the beast. Find JoJo, Speedwagon’s voice echoed in her mind. [Name] knew where Johnathan lived ever since his manor burned down, and it wasn’t too far from there; but with the creature on her tail, it didn’t matter how close he was. Throwing a glance over her shoulder, she caught a glimpse of a large, light furred creature giving chase after her. Golden eyes piercing through the darkness with snapping jaws that could crush bones with ease.

Fear ensnared her body, tears pricking her eyes as she ran. Her mind unfocused and all she could do was run, and shout for Johnathan, hoping that he would hear her. That just seemed to encourage the werewolf to catch her faster as it lunged at her, knocking her to the ground and pinning her there. The large clawed hand pushing against her chest and earning a crack from the bones, tears trickled down her face. Sharp fangs hovering dangerously close to her face.

“Robert, look at me,” she spoke, hoping that some part of the man she loved was in there somewhere. He had to be. [Eye colour] eyes looked into the golden eyes of the wolf, searching them for any trace of her Speedwagon. “Robert, please, look at me. This isn’t you.” A low growl rumbled from the beast, his jaws lowering closer to her face but [Name] refused to avert her gaze. Claws dug into her flesh and she cried in pain but remained strong.

“Please, Robert, please.” For a moment, the claws digging into her skin lightened along with the crushing pressure on her chest. The beast’s golden eyes softening slightly, filling [Name] with a new surge of hope. He could hear her. Her Robert was still in there! A weak smile lifted her lips. “T-That’s it, that’s it Robert. I know you’re in there.”

The beast gave a low sound that could be similar to that of a whine. An almost pained expression tracing the creature’s face. The crunching of footsteps caught their attention, growls spilling from the wolf’s jaws at the approaching figure. Johnathan’s eyes widened in horror at the sight.

“Speedwagon, no!” A threatening roar escaped the beast, any traces of that momentary softness of humanity vanishing far away. With a heavy heart, he drew his sword, resulting in the creature growling at him, aware of the threat being posed. The creature abandoned its intention to harm [Name] as its focus was now on the male. Johnathan brought his blade up, the wolf’s jaws clamping down on the metal as it forced him backwards, the inhuman strength proving to over-power Johnathan somewhat.

The creature claws sliced at Johnathan’s side, giving it the opening it needed to force the man down to the ground, and ripping the sword from Johnathan’s grasp. Johnathan’s hands pressed against the beast’s jaws, avoiding the fangs but trying to keep it from biting down at his throat. As the beast’s jaws threw back and aimed for his throat, a pained howl ripped from it, making it throw its head back.

Tears spilled down [Name]’s cheeks, Johnathan’s sword in her hands as the blade dug into the creature’s abdomen. Blood trickling from the wound,

“I-I’m sorry, Robert.” [Name] chocked before pulling the blade from his abdomen, with nothing to support him, the creature fell to the ground beside Johnathan. The sword fell from her hands as she fell to her knees, watching as the creature reverted back into the man she loved. She took him into her arms, tears trickling down her face.

Speedwagon coughed, his chocolate brown eyes looking up at [Name], a weak smile lifting his lips as he took her hand into his. “T-Thank you, love.” She had done it. She had stopped him from hurting others. She had saved him from the beast.

[Name] sniffed lightly before leaning down and pressing a kiss on his lips, and feeling his last breath brush against her lips. Sobs shook her body as she lowered her head into his neck. Johnathan also felt tears prick his eyes for the loss of one of his dearest friends. He kneeled beside her and placed his hand on her shoulder in comfort.

Johnathan returned home after helping [Name] bury Speedwagon. It was no easy task but, then again, when is burying your friend? As Johnathan removed his jumper, a sharp pain struck his shoulder. He lowered his shirt and felt his eyes widen.

A bite mark.

What are your opinions on Joseph Joestar? Ive been watching videos on why ppl hate him and I just dont understand why. So can you share your opinion about him?

A Defense of Joseph Joestar

You’ve just opened a can of worms, anon, so strap in for the ride!

I’m going to start this off by saying that I love him with all my heart, but do NOT condone some of the things he’s done. So, without further ado, let’s get started in what I’m calling ‘A Defense of Joseph Joestar’

Alright, we’re first introduced to him in part 2. In this part he is a very excitable and hot-headed teen. In the wiki, which I’m going to be referencing, it says that he “had been imprisoned seven times and expelled once from school for fighting,” and he “has antagonized policemen and mafiosi alike.” Now, I’m not sure about the previous imprisonments, or the details surrounding his expulsion, but I DO know that Joseph, when provoking the policemen, did so because they were roughing up Smokey and treating him terribly, using their privilege to be racist. Furthermore, he fights with the mafia member because he threw racist insults and complaints towards Smokey.

Obviously, Joseph has a heart, and is a good person, standing up for his friend despite any danger he might face by doing so. These actions are important to note, I believe, because it signifies his kind nature. Yes, though he is a “foul-mouthed individual,” he uses his strength to defend and fight against evil. He’s not the typical protagonist, a total change from the gentlemanly Johnathan, but he still houses the same determination and heart.

Now, another major thing to note in part 2 is that Joseph gets help from Nazi soldiers, specifically Stroheim. Now, I like the way that Quora user Justin Daluur puts it. “Stroheim and his men were good people. Skilled, helpful, honourable people who are never shown to do anything particularly objectionable, don’t even bat an eye at the black kid hanging around, and who repeatedly risked their lives to save the world. While Joseph started out with some reservations about working with Nazis, Stroheim and his men legit earned his respect.” Joseph was trying to save the world from Kars, who was actively a threat to EVERYONE on Earth. Joseph trusted Stroheim because he saw that he also wanted Kars gone and to save the world.

Alright, moving on to part 3. In this part, the main thing I feel like I need to address is his intolerance of anyone who is Japanese, as he says “I’ll never forgive the Japanese.” This, as he has stated, is because his daughter Holly marries a Japanese man and moves to Japan. As Quora user Sarah Halabi states, “If Joseph really hated the Japanese I don’t think he’d treat Kakyoin and the Duwang gang with alotta respect/love… and Especially bang a Japanese woman.” Now, the last blurb is something I will address during part 4, but for now I’d like to focus on the first thing she says. The first time we see him getting upset at the Japanese is when a Japanese man bumps into him in the airport. And then, mostly in the first few episodes, he gets upset at certain Japanese customs. Now, I think this was just an attempt on Araki’s part to create comedy and mention the fact that Holly is now in Japan and married to a Japanese man. As the part continues, he is shown to care about his grandson AND Kakyoin, who are both Japanese. He doesn’t hate EVERY SINGLE Japanese person, he just hates that his daughter moved so far away. Every parent feels a sense of emptiness and sadness when their children marry and move away. Joseph is a hot-head, as I’ve mentioned. He shouldn’t have been so hateful and ignorant when it came to Japanese people and culture, but he’s definitely far from being intentionally racist. I’m not sure what other discourse you’ve seen, but that’s all I am going to address that is brought up in part 3 because I can’t think of anything else major.

Alright, now part 4 is where things get especially controversial. Josuke Higashikata is revealed to be Joseph’s illegitimate son. Basically, in 1983, before Crusaders but after Battle Tendency, he had an affair with a Japanese woman. Now, this is never mentioned in part 3, but it is a plot point in part 4. There is no excusing the fact that he cheated on his wife. But, off the record, I’d like to say that this was so vehemently out of character that I refuse to believe that Araki was in his right mind or properly characterizing Joseph when he came up with the idea. Anyway, the wiki says that “As Suzi Q got upset that he was unfaithful to her, Joseph added Josuke to his will.” It’s obvious Joseph is still caring and has a kind heart and listens to his wife. Furthermore, Joseph cares for Josuke, and even tries to sacrifice himself via. cutting his wrist to bleed the water red so Josuke can save the invisible baby from drowning. Afterwards, Joseph takes care of the baby, and even adopts her because they never found the child’s mother.

TLDR: Joseph has made mistakes and can easily be mischaracterized as a bad, racist, selfish, cheating person, but in reality he has done so much good, despite his mistakes. I do not deny the things he has done, though sometimes I wish I could, but I will stand by the fact that I love Joseph and his brilliantly flawed character who is impulsive, stupid, hot-headed, clueless, cocky while also being determined, smart, loving, and so complex that I could talk about him for hours.

My Verdict: Call it Bizarre. Call it out of this world. Call it slightly homoerotic. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, even before the introduction of Stands was an entertaining ride that included vampires, mad German scientists, Pillar Men and Breathing techniques in a steal of a 12 dollar package. If you haven’t picked this up yet, do yourself a favor and check it out!

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure The Complete First Season, a review

In 2012, David Productions took Hirihiko Araki’s manga, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, and adapted it into what would be a worldwide phenomenon. The manga had been adapted previously into a series of OVAs (Original Video Animation) that only covered the most popular part, Stardust Crusaders. The anime starts right from the beginning and begins from the manga’s origins as well as the original character. Unlike other Shounen Manga, the Jojo series is infamous for (among other things) having multiple protagonists each being the different lead in a ‘Part’. For the first part, the protagonist or ‘Jojo’ is Johnathan Joestar while the second part has its protagonist in the form of Joseph Joestar.

I’m going to split this review between the first part, Phantom Blood and the second part, Battle Tendency.

Part 1: Phantom Blood

In 19th Century England, two very different boys are born into two very different families. Jonathan Joestar is the son of a rich nobleman and known for his kind nature and politeness, but isn’t so much useful in a fight. Dio Brando is born to an alcoholic father and despite his prodigy, he is most likely destined to a life of poverty, had Dio’s Father, Dario have a debt owed to him by Jonathan’s father, George. (This is because George Joestar mistakenly thought Dario saved his life when in actually Dario was in the vicinity trying to rob George’s corpse). In an attempt to pay off the debt, George adopts Dio into his family.

I know a lot of people gloss over the first part because it’s not what made the main core of the series, but there’s still a lot of fun to be had if you let it.

Dio torments and bullies Jonathan by killing his dog, stealing his father’s affection and even kissing the girl Jonathan fancies, Erina. But as the step-brothers grow older and older, they’re prepared to do battle for one another while Jonathan still maintains his gentle nature. However, when George takes ill because of Dio’s poisoning, Dio dons a very interesting Aztec mask that turns him into a Vampire. George, unfortunately, dies in the middle of the battle.

Using his wits, Jonathan sets his childhood home on fire and sets Dio ablaze. Jonathan comes out burned but alive. As Erina helps Jonathan recover from his injuries, a strange man confronts the two of them.

Zeppeli tells Jonathan that Dio not only survived the incident but has come back and is building an army of vampires. Zeppeli offers to teach Jonathan Hamon, the ability to use one’s breath to stir up the energy inside in order to imbue attacks with sunlight energy in the hopes of vanquishing Dio once and for all.

(Yes, the fact that the same voice performers who played Ichigo Kurosaki and Rukia Kuchiki with thick British accents amuses me greatly.)

Though short, the series does have fun action scenes (including one fight with a chain).

Through his chivalrous spirit and quick wits, Jonathan defeats Dio.

Jonathan and Erina finally get married, but all is not well on their cruise to America. The disembodied head of Dio still remains and is causing havoc with its tentacles and laser eyes. Realizing Dio is too great a threat to go unchecked, Jonathan ensures the safety of the other passengers, including his newlywed Erina, and destroys the ship and him along with it.

And so, Jonathan sacrifices himself to save the world from Dio. Erina survives and lives in America.

Viz Media and BangZoom did the localization of the show and for the most part, it sticks closely to the Japanese Script. However, because the show is set in 19th century, BangZoom told everyone to adopt thick, British accents.

And it’s bloody hysterical. At times, I thought I was watching a BBC documentary intercut with a battle shounen.

I don’t know if Patrick Seitz can ever measure up to Takehito Koyasu’s legendary take on the character, but he makes a game effort of it. While Seitz’s voice doesn’t differ too much from his other role, the energy and performance are worthy enough (at least to me) to compare with his Japanese counterpart.

Johnny Yong Bosch is as Johnny Yong Bosch as he’ll ever be. He’s not bad as Johnathan but you can tell he’s struggling both under the accent and giant with a heart of gold persona. It’d be one thing if he were playing an edgy teenager like Ichigo Kurosaki or a kid like Renton Thurston but he’s caught in the role that might’ve been suited to someone else.

Keith Silverstein (who also voiced Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter) is having a grand old time as Robert Speedwagon. Marc Diraison (who voiced Guts in Beserk and ‘Zolo’ in the 4kids dub of One Piece) shows genuine emotion as George Joestar. Also, can we just give a hand to Michelle Ruff? I know she’s done a lot of roles, including ones from Ayako Kawasumi (such as Saber from Fate/Stay Night and Chikane Himemiya from Kannazuki no Miko) but she plays a great Erina both young and old.

With the end of Part 1 and the closing of Jonathan’s story, we move onto Part 2.

Part 2: Battle Tendency

So, it’s 1928, New York. We follow a black boy named Smokey Robinson as he’s being hassled by the police for being a pickpocket. Before this turns into a docudrama on the History Channel, a six foot stranger with a British accent appears.

Here we meet the Jojo of this story arc, Joseph Joestar, grandson of Jonathan and Erina.

(Yes, I find the fact that Joseph is played by the same voice performer as Kids Next Door’s Nigel Uno extremely hysterical. He’s even using the same voice!)

But all’s not well in New York. Joseph encounters a vampire that’s somehow resistant to Hamon.

With the rise of Vampires that are somewhat resistant to Hamon as well as the strange disappearance of Mr. Speedwagon, Joeseph sets off on a trip that will take him all over the world from the scorching hot deserts of South America to the beautiful city of Venice and even over a Volcano. The conspiracy leads to the awakening of the Pillar Men, ancient Aztec warriors who are bent on destroying humanity unless Joeseph can team up with the grandson of Zeppilli and stop them once and for all. Kars, however, might be the most difficult opponent of all and when he transforms into an ultimate superbeing capable of not being harmed by Hamon or Sunlight, Joespeh’s wits are put to the limit.

Here we get a distinct difference between the two protagonists. While Jonathan was honorable, kind and courteous, Joseph is devious, scheming and a bit of a trickster.

I really love Joseph. In fact, through parts 1 through 6, he’s probably my favorite of the protagonists. See, Joseph is constantly pitted against more experienced enemies that have a physical advantage over him. Joseph overcomes this by tricking and deceiving his opponents. Sometimes, his bluffs work because of his cleverness. Other times, he’s just damn lucky. Joseph likes to predict his opponent’s next line, say it and basically outsmart them.

At times, Joseph is willing to make a complete idiot out of himself, just for a moment’s opportunity to trick his foe. Such as dressing up in women’s clothing and bribing some enemy soldiers.

Joseph continues to hone is Hamon skills in order to defeat the Pillar Men. But not before meeting two beauties by the names of Lisa Lisa, a Hamon teacher who might have a secret of two and Suzie Q, a cute Italian girl.

Part 2’s filled with wall to wall exploits, including mad German scientists, Chariot Races and an incredible finish with Joseph facing off against Kars on top of a Volcano.

Joseph defeats Kars and returns in surprise to his own funeral, but not before getting a new metal hand and marrying Suzy Q.

And thus ends Battle Tendency. A lot of people consider this their favorite part and I’m among them. Aside from Joeseph’s antics, there’s a lot of fire and energy you just don’t see nowadays. From battling vampires on top the Brooklyn Bridge to flying a plane over a volcanic island to defeat an Ubermensch, Battle Tenacity had a lot of creativity and seeing Joeseph get out of each situation with his wits and sheer dumb luck is a joy to behold.

Ben Diskin (who also performed Sai from Naruto and Knuckle from Hunter x Hunter) is hysterical as Joseph and the fact that he has this thick British accent the whole time makes it worthwhile. Diskin’s always had a great range but him playing this buffoon makes the whole enterprise a laugh riot.

Wendee Lee as Lisa Lisa is fine (that’s not to say that Wendee Lee gives a bad performance, far from it. It’s just that after voicing so many roles, you can tell which ones she’s pouring her soul into and which ones she’s just putting on a funny accent. This is the latter). It’s also nice to hear Stephanie Sheh as Suzy Q being more of a lighthearted ditz rather than a shy introvert.

Aside from the wackiness and over the top reactions, what really sets this series apart is the animation. Using striking color pallets and digging into the manga aesthetic really sets the tone whether it’s Joseph goofing off or Jonathan fighting a desperate battle. David Productions made their name with this series and it’s no surprise they’ve been listed to do other works such as Fire Force. Even when the anime resorts to using a panning shot or speed lines, there’s a kinetic pace that pulls you in.

But, you didn’t come here for Jonathan, did you? You didn’t come here for Joseph, either. You came for a certain high schooler with a hat and a mission.

Stand proud, true crusaders.

my “put upon dynamo farmer adopts all of the children in bruno’s gang au” that i wrote at liek 2am came to some weird places:

Pip the Farmer was Pip the Customer Data Entry Worker

She was engaged to Dio

She was head over heels, he had a kinda fondness for her and their relationship pissed off George so bad bc she was “an office drone with the manners of a gopher”

He paid for a spacious apartment with doing a LOT of law work for Joja’s legal issues

This was good because he kept having people show up, drop a kid in his lap, and tell him it was his in hopes he’d shell out some money for knocking up their sister/gf/partner.

Pip was 100% sure Dio just waved through the paperwork for custody out of sheer “a legion of illegitimate children is gonna piss off father so damn bad”

That was his main goal in adopting 3 random kids

He was home a lot of the time, outside of court dates and consults, so it worked out unless something Came Up

When her Grandpa died they’d hit a patch where Joja was getting into SUPER hot water because of people literally dying in their workplaces.

She got docked a weeks pay for taking the day off to go to his bedside while he was sick and her family refused to give her a ride home or to the hospital when he passed out

They didn’t like that she was taking care of the kids without terribly much complaint.

She and Dio had Giorno around the time they were SUPPOSED to be married, but around the time he was 3 months George threatened to kick dio from the will if he married her.

Cut to Pip with the children-- dio didn’t want them around after they split, because Dio-- living in a shitty one bedroom.

Pip has been holding onto the letter for ages at this point, because she’s needed something to get her through the day.

Cries realizing there’s a house, certainly big enough for the kids, in Stardew Valley

Calls ahead to Lewis, has a kinda awkward chat about their situation

Lewis asks robin to get the house in some kind of living shape because ‘the new farmer has children’.

Robin looking at the 3 children + one baby she gets off the bus with like “ok so about the house”

because she thought like one kid, maybe two.

she got the house in “can be lived in without burning down” condition, it’s still a house that’s been vacant for a while

Works out a “continue repairs and set up a payment plan” basis because she can just see how fucking tired Pip is

Somewhere in there, while meeting the neighbors after settling in, she realizes that the Joestars have a vacation home there and meets Johnathan who is working with Gunther at the museum. His wife Erina splitting her time between helping Penny teach the children in town and helping in the clinic when they have a real busy day. Their other brother, aside of Dio, Johnny spends his time either snarking at people, doing sick wheelchair tricks, and talking shit about the adopted brando brothers. Speedwagon exists primarily with the caravan that goes through occasionally, because he tends to piss people off much too much to settle down. Usually stays with Jonathan and Erina when visiting. The Zeppeli’s and a lone Leone Abbacchio are the only cops in town. Leone takes his job very, very seriously around the public festivals, but not much other times. Gyro spends more time at the clinic than literally any other thing. Bruno lives on the little beach the Old Mariner appears on, happily trading sea stories with Willy, though he personally doesn’t want to go out ON the ocean too far. The mer people like his fashion choices too much. Diego races horses and is deeply insufferable about his wins. Also deeply bitter that Dio’s choice of rebellion was “knock up random women, get engaged, then abandon them only to try it again a city over without the engaged part”. Because Diego personally likes the idea of having a semi-stable family unit that he intrinsically belongs to, but can’t seem to get ahold of.

Mista was 12, Narancia was 11, Fugo was 10, and Giorno was 9 when they moved in. Mista hid in the long grass on the property to take a nap instead of helping clean up, got smacked in the leg by narancia, who was ‘clearing’ grass with a stick. Fugo was doing his best to help Pip pick some fruit off the old fruit trees around the farm, while Giorno very diligently stacked tiny rocks around the trees in a lil fence to ‘make it pretty’.

It was weird and cute and idk
