Okay there’s one Sing Street lyric I think about at least once a day-
“You find a mystery bound in perfection
You gotta read but you don't wanna reach the end
'Cause what if everything beautiful's fiction?
And this reality's just pretend?”
-like I’M SORRY?? THESE LYRICS ARE SO GOOD AND BEAUTIFUL AND DEPRESSING. Truly peak happy/sad song. It doesn’t get better than this.

Hello~I hope your week has been good so far. Do you by any chance have a favorite/ preferred translation of morte d'arthur?
hi there! so far so good :^)
for funsies, i always vote the keith baines translation. it has a lot of "ease of reading" format changes. (you know, like paragraph breaks and quotation marks...) and it cuts down a lot of the fluff. for example, here's the more direct a. w. pollard translation:
and here is baines:
now to be clear, there's nothing wrong with the other translation, and from an academic perspective, the more closely something resembles it's original form, the better. but if you're reading for fun, then baines is your guy.
however, there is a third option, if you wanted something inbetween these two styles. the goldilocks version, so to speak, maintains the word choice/spelling of pollard, but utilizes quotations and paragraph breaks. this translation is by john lawlor.
this will undoubtedly take longer to read than the baines translation, but it's "more authentic" if that's something which matters to you at all. unfortunately, i only have part 1 available in this style. but as soon as i find part 2, i will add it to the list. hope this helps!

Can you recommend any books about non-binary identity other than your own? I just finished "Gender Queer", and intend to buy a copy as a present for a family member who's trying to wrap her head around the concept, but if you know of any other material on the subject I'd really appreciate it.
Hello, yes! Here are some other books you could try:
Sissy: A Coming of Gender Story by Jacob Tobia, a prose memoir
She Wants It: Desire, Power and Toppling the Patriarchy by Jill Soloway, a prose memoir
A Year Without a Name: A Memoir by Cyrus Grace Dunham, a prose memoir
Carework: Dreaming Disability Justice by Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha, a series of prose essays
Femme in Public by Alok Vaid-Menon, a poetry collection
Pansy by Andrea Gibson, a poetry collection
The Gender Creative Child: Pathways for Nurturing and Supporting Children Who Live Outside Gender Boxes by Dr. Diane Ehrensaft, prose nonfiction
The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K Leguin, prose sci-fi
Out of Salem by Hal Schrieve, young adult fiction (light horror elements)
Paul Takes the Form of a Mortal Girl by Andrea Lawlor, literary fiction
Grease Bats by Archie Bongiovanni, slide of life humor comics
Across A Field of Starlight by Blue Delliquanti, sci-fi comic
All of the above are books I have already read. Below are three I haven't read yet, but they come so well reviewed I feel confident recommending them:
Beyond the Gender Binary by Alok Vaid-Menon, nonfiction prose
Fine: A Comic About Gender by Rhea Ewing, nonfiction comic
Gender: A Graphic Guide by Meg-John Baker and Jules Scheele, nonfiction comic

favs - hangman, tom lawlor, mcmg, julia hart, natsupoi, sakisama, decay, the brood (shut up)
least favs - speedball's current entrance music is SOOO BORING and doesn't suit them at all
