A podcast where Lawrence Weschler talks about Benjamin Binstock's strongly ignored theory that several paintings attributed to Johannes Vermeer, including most of the Vermeers in the US, were actually painted by his daughter Maria, who was also, Binstock argues, along with many others, the model for Girl with Pearl Earring.
After some unprecedented covid-era scientific analysis, the National Gallery of Art reattributed their painting, Girl with a Flute, to an assistant in the artist's studio. It's painted on a panel like their other Vermeer, above, Girl with a Red Hat, and seems to show the same model. That, Binstock argues, is because they are both selfies by Maria.

1. Last song: Shishen Take On the Challenge from The Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity soundtrack (which I paid a small fortune to get my hands on so you bet I've been listening to it almost non-stop ever since. The music is SO FUCKING GOOD OKAY)
2. Favorite color: Purple — which I feel should come as a surprise to no one xD
3. Currently watching: The Killing Vote, because I apparently need more dramas where the Korean public is allowed to vote on whether or not to execute people. Quite enjoying it so far! The characters are a hoot xD And I'm curious to see what they do with the Kwon Seok Joo dude.
I also just started The Guest because I want to watch it before they remove it from Netflix but BOI. That's not one I'll be able to binge, that's for sure. Horror is great but also, well, terrifying x'D
Though, I must say, I might have to take a detour and rewatch the Along With the Gods movies. I've been meaning to do so for ages and seeing Kim Dong Wook in The Guest makes the urge even stronger. Because, let me tell you, I'm SO EAGER to rewatch the movies and observe the characters now that I've seen the twist at the end of the second movie. A twist I figured out before I actually reached the reveal, sure, but I don't think that's a bad thing? Like, for real, guys. The AUDIBLE GASP I let out when I realised what the twist was going to be and then got to sit there and see it slowly dawn on the other characters? BEAUTIFUL. And it CHANGES SO MUCH. Like, I need to rewatch them because so much of what I thought I knew is now a lie! Circumstances have changed! My initial analysis might be wrong! Characters I thought I knew are now completely different! I need to do more research! I NEED TO KNOW.
(This is what happens when your brain works like mine. And one day I might tell you all about why Kang Yo Han is such a fascinating character to me, because, let me tell you, I've rarely seen a character remain so solid in his characterisation even through the kind of reveals we're given in the drama. It's fucking SPECTACULAR)
4. Currently reading: Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (I do it in bursts because it's not the kind of book I can just binge, okay? x'D), We Have Always Lived In the Castle by Shirley Jackson (I would have finished this LONG ago if it didn't give me so much anxiety (but in a good way?)) and Eld by Mats Strandberg and Sara Bergman Elfgren (though I should probably start over on this one since I was very distracted when I read the first chapter)
5. Last movie: No Regret, because why not dabble in older Korean LGBTQ+ content? It was a ride, that's for sure xD And the next movie will be The World to Come (also one I want to watch before it's removed from Netflix)
6. Sweet/spicy/savory: Either sweet or savoury — it depends on my mood, really.
7. Relationship status: Married! :D
8. Current obsession: I'm not sure if I have one right now? Though I am hoping to get back on track with that diorama thing soon. I've almost collected all the materials I need! I just need fake foliage (preferably red) and I'm going to try and buy that either tomorrow or on Saturday.
9. Last thing you googled? Why my phone kept taking only green photos. And everyone kept telling me I shouldn't have unlocked the bootloader (which I don't think can be done by accident and I sure as hell haven't done it intentionally) so in the end I just restarted it and now it works just fine xD
10. Selfie: I don't really take selfies but here's a cropped version of a drawing WIP of mine.

11. Currently working on: Chapter 5 of A New Dawn (Begins With Us) and, after that, it'll be either chapter 37 of Who Holds the Devil or maybe the sequel to Gravitational Pull which I'm STILL struggling to find the time to work on. I'm also working on, like, six different drawings simultaneously. Because why make things easy for myself?

-her taking posts out of her archive, every few weeks because she can’t handle to keep up the appearance of a professional account
-opening the private account, changing the name 18 times, using her real name and birthday for it up until a few months ago
-using her selfies as profile picture, so everyone understands it’s her
-playing victim to make all his friends and family follow her
-immediately posting a lot on the account
-unfollowing everyone on the private account only to refollow them 24h later
-desperate need for others to validate their relationship
-she suddenly posted cups and followed cups/pottery pages after his sister followed her, who makes pottery herself and sells stuff like that
-she used her friends to have content about him and herself public, playing innocent, as if they just share their stories back and forth, but they know how many fans look and follow them, even DM them and comment
-she supposedly unfollowed sladderkongen shortly before it became public, but they always hype her extremely, as if they were in contact with her
-she had ignored all the posts that Alex had shared, such as gatetonature and the red cross, until it benefited her and she could play influencer
-she posted the first “kiss” photo with Alex to gather attention for her delayed podcast
-she always posted his elevator or apartment when he was abroad so everyone knew she lived there and to show off that they are serious, while he was with fans, it was almost extreme
-deleting evidence within minutes of being exposed as a liar and pretender
-deleting comments that are not ass kissing, even ones that aren't insulting or too critical
-she used to post selfies every single time when he was out with his friends (now we hardly see him out with friends anyways)

She posted the brand and tagged them just like she did with the suit but it turned out she wasn’t sponsored or worked for them (the brand gifted jewelry to hundreds of actresses, even Rikke, but Johanne made it look like a professional deal)

NOOOOOO MY BRAIN JUST FUCKED ME UP SO BAD. I dreamt that I've visited a heilung + avatar concert, heilung were the main artist and avatar were assisting with some songs. it was so dang realistic, I was alone there even. and then the concert ended and I've waited while everyone was quitting and when there were no more people in the hall I met johannes, tim and john. IDK WHY THERE WERE NO JONAS AND HENRIK BUT STILL. I asked them to take a few pics and we ended up talking about life (mainly w johannes because John was lying in a box and pretending to be a cat AND tim was running around). we also made many funny selfies AND THEM I WOKE UP. in my another dream. I was devastated and I went to check if I made it up or I really was there and I realised that I made it up :(( and then my alarm clock woke me up 😔😔😔 I feel HORRIBLE

Too bad we couldn't see a picture of Fanny and Alex yesterday. Or Fanny, Alex and Magnus together 😄. At least we could see that Fanny met him again after ages 🥰 even if it was only briefly. I can hardly remember seeing Alex with female friends. Of course we don't see everything he does but still... There used to be public photos of him with girls from time to time. I seem to remember that I only saw him in photos with other female friends at his 29th birthday a year ago and at conventions with fans and co-stars or with Johanne's friend Matilde and Maria. Oh, yes or when Fanny and he were at the premiere of their film, but that was work. I wonder if Johanne is jealous. Back then, when they weren't public yet, every time he was out and we knew he was having fun with others, she always posted selfies of herself. I think Alex is really a very sensitive bf and does everything he can not to make her jealous. I feel like she can be really nasty when things don’t go her way or if he doesn’t include her in everything he does. Just a feeling 😳
To be fair, I haven’t seen much of Alex and his life the past year(?) so I don’t really know the specifics but I do have to agree with you.
It does seem like he hasn’t been around his (female) friends a lot from the looks of it. Or his friends in general? But that might just be me. (as I said I haven’t been following so idk exactly)
And personally, I’m not really getting a good vibe from Johanne either. 😕

Buddha App Says is a research project inspired by references to digitally enabled and web distributed tools for spiritual development and mind enhancement sound techniques such as brainwave music.
Durational performance invites the spectator to visit the Techno-Spiritual Center for Technospirituality. With an aim of recruiting new members, the Center opens the doors to visitors. Audience is invited to participate rituals like Iphone Yoga, Selfie Exercise, Legend Reading sessions, joint singing or just to listen to a preaching by Alla’s computer synthesized voice and Alex’ mind enhancing live music. Personally assisting Admins of the Center decide when a candidate is “ready”, after what they are invited to visit the The World of Techno-Spirits, accessible via VR Glasses. During the visit Superfoods are offered.
„Technologically mediated immateriality redefines among other a commonsense of spirituality for a virtually-optimized self. Thereby, there is a need for reconsideration of progressive religious thought for partially digitized bodies heading into an undefined future. things i couldn't tell my diary # 3 - reminders of manila
after recently setting foot on up manila after three long years, i am reminded by a period of my college life that, in actuality, went by so rapidly but still felt like decades worth of memories.
i remember being so afraid of travelling to manila. i remember wanting to cry on my first ever train ride alone, and how the empathetic stare of the woman beside me comforted my fears (as if she knew exactly what was going on inside me head, as if she knew exactly that i was a province girl trying to arrive to my future campus safely). i remember crushing on this guy that i was next to when we were claiming our IDs. i remember having lunch with my then-blockmates for the first time, and how we've finally met each other after weeks of teasing each other on our group chats.
i remember taking a picture with jannie for the first time when we were inside the college of dentistry - just before i had my dental records checked. i remember how much we talked even before meeting in person, and how i was so relieved that we got to be friends. i remember crushing on her friend, which was a funny little feeling that allowed me to survive the remainder of my days in up manila.
i remember that first block lunch. it was in jollibee. i was trying to give a good impression. i remember it was hard for us to find seats because of how big of a group we were. i remember taking candid photos of father (kuya aleck) as he was intently listening to whatever johann was saying at the time. i think i could even copy his expression if i were to be asked.
i remember the first day of class and how we had to line up in our little quadrangle. and how afraid i was of standing under the tree because of the falling caterpillars. i remember only knowing a few people - still oblivious of the existence of people i would eventually bring to meet my parents to go camping one day ahhaha (hello nababasa nyo kaya to?)
i remember being really close with dan and fed. how we'd take pictures of each other outside the building after AKWE. how they'd visit me in my condo and how we'd watch the world revolve around us as we sat in the lounge at the 10th floor. i remember how dan was always down to join me in all of my spending. how he helped me pick my mint and gray running shoes that i still have. how we tried every milk tea shop in robman. how he came with me when i wanted to buy new pants in penshoppe. and how we took that mirror selfie - i was wearing a baby blue striped shirt and he was wearing his UE shirt. we were waiting for the others before we went to keei's place to sleep the night so we can be early for our PE finals in diliman.
i remember walking to roxas blvd with biboy and dan just because we had nothing better to do. i remember everyone debating where to go for lunch (but always ending up in the two nearby KFCs or mcdo). i remember talking with czarina at ministop over our fears of being stuck in a program we didnt like.
i remember how much my legs ached as i was trying to go up and down the stairs of rizal hall a day after PE classes. i remember thinking how sir enzo talks so quietly that most of the time i couldnt understand what he was saying. i remember the mirror pictures we were taking every after PE. i remember how sir enzo fed us pizza on the last day of classes.
i remember being so scared of having sir ken as a prof because of all the bad reviews he was given. i remember being afraid to attend sir ag's class because of how he loved using index cards to randomly call people. i remember loving maam rhozie's class, and how (and why) she is coco martin's ex-wife AAHHA (v1 peeps know!!). i remember dreading my STS class because of our odd professor. i remember feeling so thankful and guilty towards sir vio because of how understanding he was, sometimes i felt like i didn't deserve it.
and as much as i remember the good and amazing days - the bad days are just as vivid.
i remember dreading waking up every morning. i remember crying on my way to class because of a random panic attack. i remember my friends getting worried because i wasn't attending my classes. i remember crying to dan and fed in mcdo when i opened up why i was avoiding them. i remember crying in a bathroom stall on the right wing of rizal hall when i felt overwhelmed about pre-reg because i didnt know what classes to take anymore. i remember feeling left out because i was the only one in my friend group who failed math 83. i remember feeling ashamed of myself as i type another email to sir vio as to why i couldnt attend his class again.
i remember feeling really pitiful on my birthday as i skipped classes and spent it alone on our condo and celebrated with a subway sandwich. i remember constantly fearing losing my scholarship. i remember trying to hide my tears every time my parents would call. i remember how much my heart would ache when i had to say goodbye to my parents. i remember my head feeling physically heavy. i remember the constant doubt, anxiety, hopelessness. i remember trying to power through it all with whatever hope i had left.
i still do not understand how i was able to remember so much from that time.
to me, up manila will always serve as a reminder of a youth that has passed all too quickly. a youth that i tried to remember so much. when i was still oblivious of the world around me, surrounded by people who are also trying to find their places in the world.
to me, up manila will always serve as a reminder of my identity. a trial by fire that almost broke me. a safe haven with all the people i treasure the most.
i dont really know what the point of this is. maybe im just trying to write as much as i can as an outlet. yes. this is me dumping all of the emotions ive suppressed for the past few months. here they are now.
i miss you terribly in all your terribleness, up manila.
