Ask 2: What’s your verdict on Vibe bpp? Im not very knowledgable but it sounded like what i heard in radios back in the 2000s, i saw people say that its not very kpop, do you agree? I wasnt into it until jimin came in dunno if I was just biased lol.. I’m was very surprised at the level of participation Jimin had in this song.. Turns out he even wrote some of the lyrics enough to get credit.. and i feel like he got half of the verses And spotlight in the MV too! Maybe cuz its his first official collab but I was surprised at him advertising it in his ig lol he’s never done that before.. it looks like theyre planning on doing music shows too!!! Curious to see how this collab will do in the charts too.

VIBE is very much giving me 80s groove mixes, stripped back. Only thing missing is a Kenny G saxophone solo.

My favourite parts/timestamps:

1:55 - I love how they stripped back the instrumentals in Jimin's chorus so we really **hear** him. God, his voice. It's almost acapella and I'm glad Teddy had the sense to not bury that magic under useless synths.

2:17 - What is it with Jimin and bridges? He understands the assignment. Every single time.

Because I was aware of my bias going into it, I gave this song a few more listens than I typically do before forming an opinion. And like I suspected, the only reason I like this song is because of Jimin.

Taeyang gave me nothing to work with I'm sorry. The D'Angelo aesthetic failed to land, the only person who brought sauce to this joint is Park Jimin. I think even Taeyang, Teddy and co recognize that too, because though it's Taeyang's song and technically a feature, it feels like Jimin's song with Taeyang featuring. (The lines split is also smart from a business POV because it will get ARMYs and Jimin solo stans to buy/stream it more). Jimin has writing credits [*] so I can only assume he wrote his verses because the difference between his verse and Taeyang's is like night and day, and in Jimin's verse, the lack of gendered pronouns is something I can't help but notice.

In terms of jikook/ML collabs so far, I actually prefer this to Left & Right and Dreamers, but I like Bad Decisions more. So I'm giving this song a solid 6.8/10. It's a decent track and the hook is fun to sing. And thankfully, the song is short enough.

Frankly, if this single was supposed to whet people's appetites for Taeyang's album, it does the opposite for me, but it does do that for me with Jimin with PJM1. I **need** to hear more Jimin.

Anon in Ask 4, Taeyang has said there's a live performance so it's possible we get to see Jimin perform it live with him. (Jimin is blonde right now, in case anyone forgot)

Anon in Ask 5, you might not have heard, but ARMYs have a running joke that the tannies collab with people unlikeable to the fandom. I think a collab between Blackpink and BTS/any of the members is certainly possible (everything is possible in Chapter 2), but it will be a character building exercise for everyone involved.

And y'all know all I really do in those sorts of situations is laugh.

It's a bit unfair to Taeyang to have him dance beside Jimin, honestly. But he managed to hold his own for the most part. The live will be fun to watch.

[*] EDIT: Updating this to correct that Jimin has composing credits on Vibe, not writing credits. Only Taeyang and Vince have writing credits. So for Jimin’s verse I can assume Vince did the writing, and if Taeyang did then even more kudos to him honestly (though it begs the question… you know what, I’ll drop it lol). And again, the lack of gendered pronouns for Jimin’s verse sticks out (which is probably true for any queer listener tbh).

A sleeping giant.

The months of Jimin’s absence are finally revealing what he’s been up to.

From the W Korea article:

"Jimin begins to leap in the air on a sizable mattress surrounded by flowers, bouncing up and falling backwards countless times; every movement he makes recalls his graceful performance onstage; Jimin, who studied dance at an arts high school, doesn’t simply jump. Instead, he rises and appears to float in the air for an instant. The camera captures the fleeting seconds of his flight...

...Jimin casts a giant’s shadow on a large backdrop."

The hoi polloi (actually most were people who are more wealthy than we are and were invited to this fashion shindig) were getting pushed out of the way so Jimin could enter the building. MOVE OUT OF THE WAY PEASANTS, ROYALTY IS COMING THROUGH!

Commanding without even being conscious of it.

As I was browsing Getty Images, I noticed a lot of the other guests posing for the cameras as they arrived...trying to get their moment in the flashing cameras... and there were a lot of special guests from the fashion and entertainment industries. And all Jimin wanted to do is get the heck inside the building ...fuck posing, where’s my Hobi-ah?

I could talk about the actual fashion show but I'm not sure if anyone is interested. All eyes are on Jimin.

I should probably know who that shaggy white guy is sitting behind them but I could care less... but he sure was trying to figure out who those two young men in front of him were...

If I may, a few of my thoughts on this particular Dior menswear collection is that the silhouettes were so voluminous... shapeless really... especially the pants. They were like that in the Louis Vuitton show as well. Not a fan of billowy, wide-leg pants on men (you know how I feel about tight pants...I’m sure I’ve mentioned it a time or two). There were a lot of skirt/skort/kilt pleated type bottoms. Lots of tweed. Beautifully draping fabrics as usual. Flowy thingy details. And those rubber boots. The sounds those had to have made as the models strode around the backdrop to the narration of whatever that was ... The vibe was outdoorsy (which is what we know the summer collection was inspired by) and the ambience was... well... British country? Hoity toity quail hunting? With a dash of impracticality? Those flowy thingys are sure to get all muddy as you drag them behind you walking through that bog.

However, there were a few pieces that stood out for me because of the texture and silhouette:

That ribbed sweatery texture looks very cozy and luxurious.

The tweed (or pattern) is classic and that jacket and pants look like something that could be tailored well for Jimin. I could see Jimin wearing either of those pieces. The bucket hats were sort of oversized (Jungkook would love them).

I love that Hobi attended the Dior show and was able to be a familiar face for Jimin. It made me feel better that he was there.

I can imagine Hobi oohing and aahing as the models went by... and Jimin trying not to giggle at him (being at his core ‘my goofy friend in sweatpants who loves soju…’) and Hobi is decked out head to toe in Dior as well.

Between the Dior show coverage and the WKorea magazine article, my poor brain is overwhelmed.

I wonder if Dior is aware of the unicorn it scored at its Menswear Fall ‘23 show... the presence of Jimin AND Hobi.... no other fashion house may ever get that lucky.

And now the Vibe making-of video.

I commented not too long ago about when I thought the Vibe MV had been filmed and my guess was late August...and I was WRONG WRONG WRONG! Lo and behold! in the Vibe making video! Jimin's hair is blonde! under that beanie! when he and Taeyang are prepping for the video! The only time we've seen a hint of blonde Jimin was Jin's enlistment day DECEMBER 13!. Look closely, blonde hair peeking out from under Jimin’s beanie:

This little Vibe making video also showed me the friendship between Jimin and Taeyang and knowing that Jimin was influenced in his youth by Taeyang makes me understand more clearly why Jimin is not afraid and wants to be naked for us:

THIS. This is why we love Jimin so much. Of course he’s insanely talented, handsome and sexy, right? But the main thing (for me at least) is that he’s humble and so very kind. He’s always looking for ways to improve himself and is complimentary of those around him. Whether it’s the members, other performers, dancers, staff…you name it, he takes the time to thank and praise them. Truly, Jimin just makes the world better, doesn’t he?

Hi Anon,

Some ARMYs refused to support Hobi's collab with Crush because they believe he's a racist, some ARMYs refused to support Dreamers because they believe 6,000 people died building a stadium and that it's reflective of Jungkook's politics, some ARMYs are refusing to support Vibe because they think Taeyang is bffs with a pedophile. All these things are representative of modern online culture where a lot of people get their information from social media or journalistic sources that rely on sensationalism for traffic plus fail to fact check their sources, and a purity culture with philosophical ties to nihilism. In my humble opinion.

Still, Crush Hour performed well, Dreamers did too, and so will Vibe, because at the end of the day, some people still do their homework, have different tolerances for perceived issues, and the fandom is so big that its core still shows up to support BTS and it's enough to leave an impact.

I suggest you focus on what you love. If you like the song, or like Jimin, and/or like both, I see no reason why you shouldn't support him on Vibe. And frankly Taeyang did nothing for my taste but he did a decent job on the track and that should be recognized. I keep saying, everyone in this fandom really just does what they want. Contrary to popular belief, I don't think anybody here is being coerced in one way or the other. So do what you want, worry less about random takes online, and stare at Jimin's booty for comfort and peace of mind.
