Jily Fandom Rec List 2024
We know nominations season can sometimes sneak up on you at the end of the year, and as a collective the Jily community puts out so many brilliant fics over the year.
We are leaving the ask box open throughout this year for you to drop fics written during 2024 into as recommendations. We will compile all of the recs as a Jily Fandom Generated Rec List to get you all thinking about what you think should be nominated come November 1st when our nominations open.

How do people get nominated and win at the Jily awards?
This will be my first @jilyawards, anon. I only joined earlier this year - I have NO IDEA how anything works 😂 I just have a vague understanding that there will be categories, nominations, voting etc.

I am right up there in my feelings after reading Chapter 44 of reading Sarah's brilliant and most terrific CYOA, but I couldn't leave for work before thanking all of the people who nominated me or voted for me in the @jilyawards a million. It is such an honour and I hardly feel like I deserve it when there are so many amazing works, authors and artists out there, which I have loved and enjoyed this year.
Anyway, I can't believe I'm a finalist for:

The thing about Love Is A Lie (And Other Sh*t My Friends Say To Help Me Get By) being nominated is that I thought so many people hated me for writing it in the first place. So, thank you, for proving me wrong and surprising me.

and to think I only started writing last year! I feel so blessed to be in this community and to have real people enjoy my writing (so much so that they nominate my fics!? crazy!) I'm tired of all the defense that James matured is because he married Lily. "He changes because otherwise lily wouldn't have married him blablabla" like stop. Poor Lily they give her all the moral responsibility of that guy. Idk I thought we'd gotten over treating women as rehabilitation for men (in fiction)
Just admit that Jily ship has little development, and it looks like it was taken from wattpad and that's it. But pls stop saying James change and the proof is he got the girl. As if she were an award or acknowledgment of that change. Shes just a girl not a Moral Guide. Women are not moral compasses.
But then I think... How can they defend James' change? Head boy? Stop hex random people just for fun.. Yeah great thing, At least he apologized?
Plus there's that Pottermore prequel of him and Sirius playing pranks on Muggle cops.
Giving the burden to lily is the only way they can defend that James changed. 'Cause Lily wouldn't have married him if he hadn't changed blablabla... But he kept hexing Snape, only not on their dates, What other things could he have done away from Lily's sight? Did Lily know about the prank of him and Sirius on the Muggle cops?... So pls Stop using the poor woman as proof, It's not romantic

So I played this game today in Uni's fest, where we were asked to share a thing/incidence from the past two years of our lives that amazed us, or something that we found beautiful.
I couldn't really answer properly back there because there are just so many things that have inspired me. But the more I thought about it, the more I realised that the Jily fandom (or any fandom in general) is something that is so uniquely beautiful.
Majority of the people here don't know how the other person looks, majority of us are from different nations, majority of us speak different languages, we are all different ages, we all have different jobs, hell we all belong to different time zones!
But there's something like a thread that has tied us all together. It's something as simple as love for two people, that too fictional characters!
It's like, a fiction has given us something real. Divided my nations (perhaps) but united by a fandom!
And if that's not beautiful, I don't know what is.
