I wish Jed the Wolfdog had played Dogula. He died in 1995 but his performance in The Thing made it clear: there is only one doggy actor right for that role.

There's a lot of debate if Jed (actor dog from The Thing and a few other movies) was a wolfdog or not. He was said to be half wolf half malamute, but to me he looks too much like a dog to be half wolf. Sorry if you've been asked this question about him before, but what's your opinion on it?

He was a wolfdog! He’s was a low-content malamute mix, and a very talented boy! He does look like he’s got quite a bit of dog in him, so I wouldn’t say he’s mid content, but if he was he’d be on the lower side.

If you are ever feeling sad about how every male actor is a creep of some sort, just remember Jed the wolfdog, who never did anything wrong in his life and was a good boy all his 18 years. Here he is in The Thing:

Shoutout to Jed the Wolfdog for not being one of those dogs whose tail had to be CGI'd out to stop it wagging and also for being able to split his own face open like a banana. The animal actor equivalent of Daniel Day-Lewis

The doggy in the Thing is legit my fave actor in that film. Im just always so impressed with how he pulled off the uncanny valley in an animal. If he was still around he could have been Smile Dog
NO BUT SAME!!!! The last time I watched The Thing I went on a little dive into the dog itself! His name was Jed and part of why he pulled off 'uncanny valley' was that he was a Wolfdog, specifically Alaskan Malamute-Wolf mix. He has a sharp clever look in his eyes that you don't really see in standard run-of-the-mill dogs, and it made him stand out when surrounded by the other kennel dogs.
The Thing was the first film he was used in, though it says he was uncredited for it, but he later went on to star in 'White Fang' and 'White Fang 2: Myth of the White Wolf' showing that he was a very very good actor. They trained him well and by god did he deliver.
He passed back in 1995, but he lived a full life of 17-18 years!!
