The Nissan Skyline

This JDM legend started as a luxury sedan and ended up as the GODZILLA. It wasn’t available to most of us of decades, but its an icon around the world. Known as a star of video games and movies, Nissan Skylines the absolute queint essence of forbidden fruit.

In the late 90’s Japanese import culture exploded and suddenly posters of JDM cars were covered by American car enthusiasts walls; supras, rx-7’s, 300zx’s, 3000GT’s, MR2’s, S13’s, S14’s, and many more. But still, for many people one car stuck out: the skyline. Equipped with a twin turbo, all wheel drive, it was beast on the track and in the garage. The thing is, United States was not allowed to have it.

In 1969 the first mods started to face the skyline. With a lengthened nose of the skyline so they could fit the S20; this is a six-cylinder, 24 valve, twin-cam, triple two barrel side draft badass, that made a 160 horsepower at 7000 rpm. They called it the Skyline Gran Turismo Racer or Skyline GTR. It transformerd the face of GTR and immediately started to embarrass the American and European car brands.

In 1989 the R32 Skyline GTR debut. It had a straight six, two turbos, and all wheel steering, and four wheel drive. This is the beginning of Skyline. Around the time the R32 debuted drifting started takin of and Nissan had a Skyline for that too. The GTS-T was the same was the GTR but it was rear wheel drive.

The R32 kicked of the 90’s, which is the Golden Era of Skylines. The R33 and the R34 cemented the dominace of Godzilla. The changes between the next teo generations were minimal, the touched up the front end, moved the battery to the back, made the hucad electric, improved aero and updated the cosmetics. This is the Skyline most car guys fell in love with. This is what many enthusiasts picture when they hear GTR. This is the car that made Skyline a legend forever..

J2 SFCon 2017 Main Panel

Aww, Jensen swung his arms out to welcome Jared first and then bowed himself.

Boys do their usual jump onstage with the band :)

Jared fangirling and fanning himself over JDM (whose panel was right before theirs).

Jensen: How about that Jeffrey Dean Morgan? You see where we get it from. Jared: Not a bad Dad to have.

Jensen thanking Creation Ent and the entire staff, including the volunteers.

First question is about Danneel being on the show. Jensen: Sorry, who?

It was something that was going on for many years. Danneel wanted to let Jensen have SPN be his thing, but then s13 happened, and she said in passing, “It might be cool to be on the show...”

Danneel will be in ep 13x13. When Danneel said she would come on the show, Bob Singer jumped on it when Jensen mentioned it to him. Eugenie Singer created the character of Sister Jo for Danneel.

Jensen: Having Danneel on the show let’s me have my family up in Vancouver with me for a couple of weeks.

Jared’s reaction to Danneel being on the show: “I can’t wait to work with Danneel.”

Jared: I’m excited for Danneel to be on the show. I’ve known her longer than Jensen. I know her as a friend, as a mother, as the wife to one of my best friends. I know her as “Aunt Eel” as my sons call her because they can’t say Aunt Danneel as well we adults can.

Jared says he’s also excited as a fan of the show because the backstory is fun with that family element and how we have loved and supported them and how neat it is to see “Ackles and Danneel” interacting on camera on the show. Jared mentions that when he calls Jensen “Ackles” in front of Danneel she tells him, “I’m an Ackles, too” lol.

Aunt Mama (what JJ calls Gen) is also referenced <3

Jared loves rock, but he’ll pretty much listen to anything.

One of Jensen’s favorite things from the Pilot script was the music.

Jensen almost took his stunt doubles eye out in First Born during the demon fighting scene in Cain’s home.

Fan: When Mark Sheppard tells you to do something... J2: You do the opposite! lol

J2 bicker over whose fault it was that Jared got stabbed in the leg. They re-enact the scene (complete with hug) where Jensen stabbed Jared in the knee accidentally. Jared: Jensen is a large man.

The boys are talking about the Winchester Mystery House. Jared: I told Gen it was weird, because I’m Sam Winchester. Jensen: That’s not the first time you said that to her :P

J2 play the capital game on set.

J2 are being playful and funny and cracking each other up :)

A fan just corrected Jensen on how to say Nevada. She said it’s Neh-Va-Da and Jensen replies with, “not in Texas.”

They start talking about a haunted city in Nevada. Jared: We’ll go check it out. Jensen: No we won’t!

“I want to go.” “When are we going?”

Have you ever had a near death experience? Jensen (doing a bad Jared impression): WHEN JENSEN STABBED ME.

Jared’s near death experience was when he flipped his car in Africa while filming “Flight of the Phoenix.” He was wearing flip-flops... He expected the car to explode. As Jared reenacts how he ran from the car in slow-motion, Jensen is doing animated background sounds.

Jared truly thought he had died when his car had flipped and then when he found out he wasn’t dead he was pleasantly surprised because he had accepted it. He couldn’t find his phone and during the story referred to himself as “spirit Jared” wandering around trying to find his dead body lol.

Jared explaining that he was trying to test if he could fly yet and Jensen is laughing so much at the rules Jared is laying out for how long you have to be dead before you can fly. Which may be wrong, because it turns out he wasn’t actually dead lol.

Jensen: Did you see the car fly away? Jared: *nods* Jensen: So there is a car heaven! Yes!

Jensen’s near death experience: He thought it was a great idea to climb a construction crane (a 48 story building) in the middle of the night. Kids don’t do this, adults don’t do this. “I was young, let’s put it like that.”

It had rained and the metal on the crane was slippery and Jensen slipped. His buddy Mike had tried a rope around his chest.

Jensen refuses to do things in the script for things he can’t do or learn how to do. He was told to learn how to take guns apart, clean them, and put them together without looking.

Jared had to learn how to paint distinct sigils from memory.

Jared hates painting sigils. There’s a sense of having to get the copy exactly right. Jensen: There’s a saying on most sets that if the audience notices minutia like that, we’ve lost them. To that I say, have you met our fans?? They absolutely will notice. And we haven’t lost them!

Their lives if Mary had lived instead? Jensen: Mom’s on a hunting trip and hasn’t been home in a few days. Jared: When I told Mom I was scared of the dark, she put an Uzi under my pillow.

Jared uses the Losechester joke, much to Jensen’s delight lol.

Fan: Sam looks pretty good driving Baby. Jared says, “You’re damn right,” and hugs her. Jensen: Jared is pretty simple. He needs food, water, and compliments. Jared: And candy! Jensen: And the occasional bag of candy.

Jared still owns a classic Chevy. Says he’s a car guy, but doesn’t think Sam really is.

Fan talks about Sam being good in support of Dean and Jensen immediately says, “as Dean is in support of Sam.”

Another tweet: Fan: Sam is good in a supporting role. Jensen: We didn’t hear that. Fan: Like, in a supporting role. Supporting Dean. Jensen: As Dean is good in a supporting role supporting Sam.

On Sam riding shotgun? “It’s nice to have an unpaid chauffeur” lol. Jensen: I’m not unpaid :P

Most embarrassing injury? Jared talks about Leviathan!Sam’s gun that ejected shells and hit Jared in the face.

Jared mentions splitting his pants. Jensen: That’s not an injury, it’s a wardrobe malfunction. Jared: Some would call that a wardrobe FUNCTION.

Jensen’s injury was when he went to unjam his gun, it snapped and caught the meat of his finger. They were rolling, so he just held the skin together and let it bleed everywhere.

Last question: Why is Sam always in a chokehold and Dean is thrown into the wall in the early seasons? Jensen: Sam likes to be choked ;) and Dean prefers blunt force trauma.

Jared: Sam is what you call extra large. He is harder to throw than Dean. Jensen: If you throw Jared, you also have to throw his hair.

Panel ends with a post panel fist bump and a side hug :)

And that’s the last J2 panel (and con) of 2017!! Sounds like an amazing one for sure :) The boys will be in Orlando for the first time at the next scheduled con on January 19-21 in 2018! :)

For some reason, Porsche purists often hate everything their beloved organization does. These days, they're horrified by using two different fonts on the 992-generation 911's rear decklid, plus the use of turbochargers in non-Turbo vehicles . But the trend goes completely back to the original 911, which was considered too angular compared to the 356 in order to debuted as the 901. Today, nevertheless , a Porsche counterculture appears to be expanding, with safari builds increasing and plenty of engine swaps in abundance . Perhaps the groundswell explains exactly why Hoonigan AutoFocus host Larry Chen branched out from the usual crop associated with JDM tuners to check out a 993-swapped 911 restomod in Louisiana.

The vehicle comes courtesy of NolaSport , the Porsche shop operating out of Metairie, and looks downright mean within Viper Green paint. Chen has been invited to drive this 911 simply by Dylan Scheurich of NolaSport. Dangling off the rear axle lurks the 993-generation 911's 3. 6-liter VarioRam flat-six, which benefits from a 2016 GT3 RS's center muffler within the exhaust system but remains largely share and fits fairly well in to the rear engine bay. Given that NolaSport didn't really upgrade the powerplant, it should be producing somewhere around 272 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque, however in a car that weighs far less than the usual 993.

The particular quick footage of Chen generating the car reveals how small the particular steering wheel is, but the rest of the inner surface looks relatively roomy and he arrives away especially happy with the chairs, which were shipped in from European countries and feature classic houndstooth inserts. Skyline-swapped Accord Wagon // Rear-Wheel-Drive // S13 Subframes

1: Alright seriously – what the hell have you built here?!

My buddy Robert Bell and I at RB’s Adrenaline Factory have taken a 1994 Honda Accord Wagon ce1… and completely cut off the front end. We welded in a new tubular front end built to s13 240sx specs, and dropped in a RB25det Neo (r34 Skyline GTT) from JDM of California. The S13-spec front-end allows us to run the s13 subframe, suspension, brakes, everything. Piece of cake right! lol

In the rear, we’re using an s13 rear subframe for the rear-wheel-drive conversion, and an R33 driveshaft.

Let me by clear – THIS IS MY DAILY. But we knew this was also gonna be a drift car from the get-go… so we wanted to use parts that are accessible & easy to get in the drift world.

2: You realize that like 90% of these off-the-wall projects never run again right? How did you beat the odds?

Backstory: We had an R32 front bumper laying around. And out of boredom, I put it on my Accord one day. I took it to a local monthly meet… and people laughed. That was all the motivation I needed. So bottom line: We ‘beat the odds’ when we set out to prove ‘em all wrong. We set out to do something different AND FUN… and we stuck to a pretty strict budget and plan. Spare time is minimal around here, and so is shop space – so having a detailed plan of attack was key. But we knew that once we conquered the hard part of getting the engine & rear-end in… and we’d have this thing sliding in no time!

3: How does it drive? What’s it feel like?

It honestly rides fantastic! The Function & Forum Type 2 coilovers are great. And we took it even further & modified the position of the subframes/suspension to where the suspension would have full range of function… but also still have that low palm-biting low stance.
