NRC'S PAINT CHIP PROJECT! — sage green
"plant life and hiking in a dew-speckled, cool morning."

There’s an odd relief that comes with seeing Ramshackle against the orange-yellow horizon, its decrepit walls promising warmth and comfort and safety. Jade breathes in the night air as he passes the rickety front gate, the crickets in the front lawn chirping wildly. The steps creak under his weight and he opens the door with ease, making a mental note to chastise them for being so trusted.
“I’m home,” he calls out, because there’s nowhere else on campus that makes him feel more at home than Ramshackle dorm. Whether that's because of you or not, he will never tell.
He listens for the soft pitter-patter of your feet and feels a sense of relief when he hears it, knowing it means being in your arms and drinking the tea you make just for him.
“Hi.” you beam, poking your head out from behind the corner of the entrance hall, “I missed you.”
“I missed you too, my amanita.” he hums, closing the distance between the two of you in just two steps.
You hum, content, as he takes you into his arms. He sighs into your hair, relaxing against you. There’s something funny about how his lanky body slumps against you, his eyes shut and hands delicately cradling you.
“I made peppermint herbal tea.” you murmur, rubbing his back.
Jade hums in approval. He gives one last sigh, the weight of the world lifting off his shoulders, and lets go of you.
“Thank you.” he whispers, smiling at you like you two have a secret that should never be shared.
“No need to thank me.” you say, taking his hands in yours, “I want to take care of you. You work so hard, you need some love and care every now and then.”
“Are you implying that this will forever be an every now and then thing?” he furrows his brow, pouting, “A pity. I was hoping this would last for far longer.”
“You better ask me out then, pretty boy.” you snicker, yanking him towards the kitchen, “Now hurry your lanky body over here. I wouldn’t want the tea to get cold.”
