i hope your last week of work went well & that you’ve had a good break so far <3 i finally had time to go back and read the lola newspaper (i’ve missed out on over two weeks 😵 but i’m pretty much fully caught up now!) and i have some thoughts:
(some of them are just other random thoughts i have, not to do with your posts these last weeks heh!)
1. you wrote you like scandinavian crime stories? :o do you have any examples? i have a story about sweden’s biggest crime writer but i won’t tell it if you haven’t read anything by her bcs it would be boring 🤪
2. reading through your blog as i’m trying to finish my christmas osc fic was both good and bad because you ofc have so many good cute reblogs and gifs of him that make me think of him and get all mushy and in the right mood to write 🥰 but it’s also hard because you have a lot of lando content recently, and he’s the one i’m trying to escape because he’s continued to hold my brain captive these last few weeks…..
3. speaking of lando… i see you too have been in a bit of a lando mood recently? 🤭 very interesting how your blog has become like 90% lando, i do not complain 🥰 and i totally get where you’re coming from 🥰 tbh very easy to blame oscar for disappearing from the face of the earth (i think i’ve seen like one pic of him? one sighting a fan took??….), and lando for those god damn streams 🤤🤤

4. okay this doesn’t actually have anything to do with your reblogs but i remembered it after seeing some of them: after the last like big handball match i was at, i was waiting at the entrance for some person, and guess who stood just a few meters away… the cute liam lookalike….. and like as soon as i saw him, i looked away because i couldn’t be caught staring at him when he was so close (like, staring at him when he’s playing is another thing, but like this?? 😳). then i ended up talking to someone else as i waited, and i felt someone looking at me… so i turned my head and the liam lookalike was looking at me??? and i looked away and acted like it was no big deal, he probs was just looking around the room randomly. but tell me why i caught him staring at me SEVERAL MORE TIMES ???? i shit you not ??????? i tried so so hard to act like everything was fine but i giggle even thinking about it now SJSGSSJSH
5. speaking of liam….. guess who still hasn’t watched his vlogs?? 🫠 i just can’t allow myself to watch any videos or do anything distracting before im done with my christmas oscar fic 😶 (she says, as she’s reading through the lola newspaper instead of writing) but i saw your reblogs of pics from his vlogs and i just can’t hold back from watching them 😭
6. omg you never watched gilmore girls??? idk why this is so shocking to me but like. i thought everyone had to :0 i watched it for the first time last year tho but i’m on my 4th rewatch…. now im curious about what other big shows you didnt watch? i remember us talking about gossip girl (right? i didn’t just make that up, did i?) but i cant remember why?… honestly i shouldn’t say anything because i hate tv-shows but i thought everyone had seen gilmore girls 🥺

Still have a few books to read from him, but his Q-department series is TOP NOTCH. Pretty disturbing and very horrifying topics but well written all of them. Everyone is shaming me not watching the Gilmore girls… Pls, it was so hyped up, I always hold off watching the movies, series that are popular at times and come back later when adoration dies down. But never really get around to do it. Obviously saw a bits and pieces but never really had the urge to watch it from start to end. I started watching Gossip Girl like 3 times probably, but never finished any watch through 😂😂 It was actually the first series I’ve watched with original dub and English subtitles.
Pretty little liars, started it with my sister, but I got bored after like one season or something 😂 I think she finished it without me 😂Dunno what else… gimme a list of famous TV-show and I’ll let you know if I’ve watched them or not 🙈

I shared the story there and there, mostly in tags, it gets lost over the year/months 👀 but it's still the same;
Similar to the game's canon event, Valentin gets thrown in the dump after the failed heist, BUT! Before Takemura can find him, Scorpion and Mitch finds him first during one of their lil scavenging mission
(These are really old screenshots, from 2021, I eventually want to make a comic of their first meeting tho! hopefully this year >:O)
Scorpion is the first to notice him, after he heard noises. At first, the duo thought he was a corpo, not the first they see and won't be the last, those corpses often have eddies or data/intel that can be potentially interesting, so they were ready to loot him; when Scorp flipped him over, Valentin groaned through his half-dead fog, not understanding yet what was happening or where he was
Mitch joined quickly and they both came to the conclusion that Val wasn't a corpo; his rugged appearance despite the suit, his scars, and just- the vibes, you know HGFHH
Valentin let out a weak "help" before falling unconscious. Scorp was against the idea of bringing him to camp, but Mitch couldn't let him die here- "He's just a kid" -beside, Driss would be lying if he wasn't just a bit curious on how Val survive a shot straight to the head; his face was Fucked (nothing too unusual for the veterans)
So they carried his body to Mitch's truck, driving back to camp (Saul wasn't around at the time, otherwise he wouldn't have let it happen)
Valentin has history with Dakota (she helped him "hide" from the wraith, he worked at her garage for months and she gave him the gig with Jackie!) and by luck, she was visiting the Aldecaldos when they brought him at camp
She recognized him immediatly, assuring the boys they did a nice thing bringing him here; she later told the Ripper Doc to keep the extracted bullet; it was a miracle he survived (Mitch would later make a necklace with the bullet, that he gives Valentin during "I'll fly away" (instead of the statue!))
BUT YEAH I really really want to finish my boys canon-accurate appearances so I can work on my lore comics 😩 Modding keeps getting in the way- and since I enjoy both VP and Modding it's hard to focus on only one thing hgfhg

his first chosen name was penn, but he started going by vance after his medical transition. he doesn't give it out freely bc that was the name arasaka knew him by; he doesn't mention his surname, either, bc it's a pretty prominent one with much of its members still working for the megacorp in question.
🧡 Nickname?
"...Well, last I checked, 's still V."
apart from "mano" from jackie, vance doesn't have much in terms of nicknames. his old netrunning handle was N3tH0und (net hound); it's a retired username that's been largely scrubbed from the net, but sometimes he signs his major hacks with it just to fuck with people. it's a ghost's name, and it's fun to haunt the net only when he knows for certain that it can't be traced back to him.

"Guy! Never been asked that outright before."
🧡 Star sign?
"'s not my scene--can't say I know much about it--but Misty's got me down as a Cancer, whatever that means. Says that's probably why I'm, er, so 'intuitive', as she called it. You ask me, that's just the merc work--bein' able to read a room, that is."
i first drew vance on july 7, 2023, so i consider that his birthday. like vance, i have no idea how being a cancer applies to him, but google says cancers are loyal, domestically inclined, and committed to their loved ones, so that sounds about right!

"Six flat. Johnny's pretty sure I'm taller than 'im...but he's slouchin' all the time, so don't think he's got a say in it."

vance is a gay man with a preference for masculine-identifying individuals. like he said, if you identify as a "guy" in any form, then that's good enough for him. he's not one to talk about having "appropriate" parts, and he thinks it's dumb that they're gendered in the first place. he's not usually looking for anything serious and he's more than okay with just being an input and having one as well.

What ur thoughts on the new trailer??
Pre TLDR: The animation is hands down incredible stylization and I absolutely am in love with these turtles I think they're so cute and can't wait!!
Now for my mini essay on my thoughts under the read more
Still on animation it's amazing to see how more and more animated films now have more 2D animated stylization. Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse (just saw across the spiderverse too!!), Arcane, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish and so many more animated films even if it's 3D animation have 2D animation mixed in usually for textures or sfx like explosions, smoke, or my favorite action lines or impact frames.
The trailer showed just how beautiful the work that went into this movie is. The sketch and rough scribbles of backgrounds and shapes and during action scenes or fast paced objects the scribbles are more prominent giving it a more chaotic movement. It just gives it so much style and don't get me started on the lighting!! Incredible and really brings out the mood and colors of each scene showing off all the textures in there.
Next up I'm being 100% serious when I say this iteration is such a treat to the franchise. I can feel the passion and love for this franchise alone from the work the team put in. The small nod with the turtles having white eyes made me lose my mind and I can tell this will be amazing for old and new fans alike.
The cast of different villains besides Shredder is a breath of fresh air because it gives these new take on old villains some life and something we haven't seen a lot of without Shredder being the big bad behind it all.
The turtles are young maybe they aren't completely trained (they're still kids too! Babies even!) And so we can see them grow and learn another thing I like about this and Rise. People love rooting for underdogs. The turtles also act so much like younger children and it warms my heart plus really helps with the "teenage" part of the franchise title. I've seen people (myself included) say how some iterations don't seem like teens at all or eventually don't act like ones so it's sweet to see it be done properly.
Splinter being voiced by Jackie Chan made me feel so happy and nostalgic so that was wonderful.
Overall theres a lot of changes but in the end it's kind of the same. Admittedly I didn't like the turtles in the concept art but the trailers and promotion material changed my mind. Theres heart behind this movie and these turtles are a welcome addition to all the other ones we have so I'm absolutely going to be in theaters when this movie comes out. ❤️🧡💙💜🐢
