Chadley has always been hilarious to me. He's this cheerful, helpful, kindly white nerd that just hangs around everywhere and talks enthusiastically about his research...and his undying, blistering hatred for Shinra, all in the same happy tone. Seriously he sounds like; "Greetings Cloud! Good to see you! I'm happy to see how much you've helped me continue my research, and be sure it is all for a good cause. For one day I shall stand upon the ashes of Shinra's ruins, the blood of their shareholders and executives staining the bottom of my boots, the screams of their soldiers echoing in my ears, and I will smile as I smell the sweet scent of justice well served as all of Shinra shall feel my thunderous wrath. Also, I just developed a new Meteria! Wanna check it out?"

Underrated aspect of Mary Challoner: the fact that she's got a massive crush on Vidal the entire book despite also being completely aware that he's a degenerate psycho. I love a girl with self-consciously terrible taste in men.

POV- When you're reading a bsd boys as your bf headcanon, and read a headcanon that doesn't fully agree with your version of them:

consider the sperm whale and the squid. an ancient rivalry that dates back millions of years. we know the whales eat the squids. we know the squids do not make it easy for them. we know this because of the scars the whales carry, scars on the outside of their body, and on the inside as well. how badly must you want something to endure wounds inside your mouth? inside your gut?

consider the whale, who is harmed by what sustains her. consider the squid, whose flesh is soft and delicious but refuses to go down easy.

things grow when left unattended

for a While now I've just been kind of sad and lonely and like it feels pathetic the way a dog whines and cries for food when you're just boiling water or taking an Advil. and I struggle to make any sort of friend, most people just aren't what I want but I still accept them for who they are as long as they're not an asshole. but all I want is a body to warm the bed, someone to put the weight and pressure of their hand reassuringly on my back while I cry into their shoulder. I will never not feel alone, but it'd be a lot less lonely with someone who can tell me everything is okay because they're here for me. and I make bread for them.
