JOHN: so then, is it just a coincidence that she had the same name as an invincible super villain?

JOHN: are coincidences even real??

JAKE: I dunno.

JAKE: The history is a little murky to me.

JAKE: I heard she took the name from a nasty fellow to spite a wicked baroness.

JOHN: ok.

JOHN: good to know!

JOHN: it's been interesting to learn how even though we are all pretty similar, we all had a lot of really different life details.

JAKE: I guess so.

JOHN: like, there are all these things i take for granted about jade's childhood, which in theory is similar to yours.

JOHN: but not really... she had a super powerful dog you didn't have. and also a grandpa you couldn't have had, because... that was grown up you!

JOHN: i'd be really curious to hear about all the differences in your life some time, if you don't mind.

JAKE: Sure.

JOHN: hell, i'd be REALLY curious to hear about the differences in my alt-life, so to speak.

JOHN: but jane is asleep!

JOHN: i'm guessing she grew up in a similar situation i did, but with... a bunch of differences???

JOHN: guess i'll just have to wait!

JAKE: Well...

JAKE: She was a good friend.

JAKE: I know lots of stuff about her life.

JAKE: What do you want to know?

JOHN: oh! hmm.

JOHN: let's see.

JOHN: so i was her grandpa, instead of her being my nanna?

JOHN: i'm not sure if that statement made sense, but you know what i mean.

JAKE: Yeah she had a poppop.

JAKE: He was a really funny and beloved old time comedian so i guess that is the guy you grew up to be.

JOHN: cool!

JOHN: i never knew my nanna growing up, except as an urn of ashes above the fireplace.

JOHN: i only met her as a sprite.

JOHN: was i dead? or... was he?

JAKE: Yep but he wasnt ashes they had a different way of preserving him which i think was arguably more dignified.

JOHN: how?

JAKE: Have you seen weekend at bernies?

JOHN: no.

JOHN: i've heard of it though!

JAKE: Oh man you HAVE to see it!

JAKE: Its about a couple of knuckleheads who parade around with a funny corpse trying to pass him off as a living friend and good time charlie over a series of escapades.

JOHN: sounds incredible.

JAKE: I still have it if you want to see it some time.

JOHN: definitely!

JOHN: so you like movies?

JAKE: DO i?????

JOHN: haha, i love movies too.

JOHN: there are a whole bunch i'd want to show you, assuming you haven't seen them already.

JOHN: i love talking about them with people! i think my friends usually just humored me about the movies i liked, but i have a feeling you'd really dig them!

JAKE: Oh i GUARANTEE you i would.

JOHN: awesome, i can't wait to show you some.

JOHN: so... that means jane had an old man corpse version of me around somewhere? like in her house?

JAKE: Yes.

JOHN: ok, that sounds pretty preposterous to me...

JOHN: but i guess she must have grown up thinking it was normal.

JAKE: Not... really. She was always pretty put off by it to be honest.

JOHN: heheh. poor jane.

JOHN: i'll have to apologize to her for freaking her out from beyond the grave.

JOHN: what was her life like otherwise?

JAKE: Pretty typical id say.

JAKE: She always characterized it as boring.

JAKE: But i never agreed really she got to live on the main land with access to all kinds of things i didnt have.

JAKE: Plus she lived with a cool and manly father who cared about her a lot and seemed like a standup gent.

JOHN: oh, she lived with her dad too?

JOHN: do you know anything about him?

JAKE: Not much other than what i just said and a few things she told me.

JAKE: I think he was stern and fatherly and dressed well if memory serves he was a private detective at one point.

JOHN: a private detective???

JOHN: wow.

JOHN: it sounds like he must have been a completely different kind of dad from the one i had.

JOHN: all these differences are so interesting... some are subtle, but some are drastic, like this one apparently is.

JOHN: it would be neat to meet him.

JOHN: i mean, not that it would be much of a substitute for getting to see my dad again, since they're totally different people, but...

JOHN: you know what i mean.

JOHN: do you know what happened to him?

JAKE: Im not sure i kinda lost track of him for a while...

JAKE: I think he might be in jail?

JOHN: jail??

JAKE: Yeah on derse.

JAKE: I THINK. I could be wrong though.

JOHN: i'll make a mental note to check on him some time soon.

JOHN: i bet jane would want to too, when she wakes up. i'll ask her about it.

JAKE: Good idea!

JOHN: you know jake, at first you seemed pretty shy...

JOHN: but you don't really seem that way at all now?

JOHN: you just strike me as a nice regular dude who likes movies and stuff.

JOHN: i'm glad we are getting a chance to talk!

JAKE: Yeah me too!

JAKE: Ive been feeling way out of sorts since i got sprung from the big house and dragged along to this here frog stage to suddenly bump gums with WAY too many people...

JAKE: But you are really good company john and you know how to make a guy feel at ease.

JOHN: heh, yeah, it is a lot of people.

JOHN: i'm having trouble keeping track of everyone myself!

JAKE: They all seem like decent folk and all but...

JAKE: I guess everyones catching me at a bad time.

JAKE: This wasnt how i pictured things going at all.

JOHN: how were you picturing it?

JAKE: Naively i suppose.

JAKE: Its not that i was expecting differently of anyone else...

JAKE: More that i had spurious visions of my own conduct.

JAKE: Remember the letter i sent you?

JOHN: yes.

JAKE: All the excitement and swagger you heard from me in those words...

JAKE: Thats the man i thought id be when you met me.

JAKE: A man of action and gumption... hell when i wrote that i thought by now maybe people would even have come to see me as a leader!

JAKE: What a laugh.

JAKE: I turned out to be such a disappointment to myself and everyone else.

JAKE: The bravado in that letter was fake ive realized lately.

JAKE: Ive realized a lot of things.

JAKE: That i could never be a leader or a people person or probably ever have a quality relationship with someone.

JAKE: So its hard to get up a lot of moxie for a big moment like this even though im as excited about it as everyone else.

JAKE: Tavrosprite already tried cheering me up and hes nice but i dont think it worked.

JAKE: Like by saying maybe all that stuff ISNT true and maybe im actually really great in all the ways i dont think i am?

JAKE: Its a nice thought but also it weirdly just doesnt make me feel any better.

JAKE: John you seem like the kind of guy who likes trying to cheer up a pal so i guess...

JAKE: I guess just so you know someone already tried telling me i was wrong and it didnt work.

JOHN: i don't think you're wrong though!

JOHN: well, i don't know.

JOHN: we just met! what could i know about you other than what you tell me?

JOHN: i believe you about all that.

JOHN: really, it just sounds to me like you are going through a lot of changes.

JOHN: changes are good!

JOHN: especially if you understand that's what's happening to you.

JOHN: i think that's how we grow and stuff.

JOHN: i think i've changed in a lot of ways.

JOHN: some ways that weren't easy.

JAKE: Yeah?

JOHN: sure!

JOHN: so you're realizing you like being by yourself, it sounds like.

JOHN: big deal!

JOHN: i like being alone a lot of times too. it helps me think.

JOHN: if that's who you are, there's nothing wrong with that.

JOHN: jade's grandpa liked being by himself too.

JOHN: so much so, that he moved to an island as far away from civilization as possible.

JOHN: but he still did adventurous stuff and was super successful and also raised a cool grand daughter, who was actually his daughter, and i guess also yours.

JAKE: Huh.

JAKE: Yes i guess youre right.

JOHN: and if nothing else...

JOHN: at least you have a cool costume.

JAKE: You...

JAKE: You really like it?

JOHN: hell yes!

JAKE: Wow thanks.

JAKE: Sometimes i worry that i might look a little silly.

JAKE: And feel kind of... exposed maybe?

JAKE: Like im on sexy display or such and people dont see me as a person.

JOHN: i wouldn't worry about that.

JOHN: i love the god tier pajamas, and yours are badass.

JOHN: you look like a super hero!

JAKE: Really???

JOHN: yes.

JOHN: well...

JOHN: maybe a plucky side kick, at LEAST.

JAKE: Heheheheh.

JOHN: side kicks are really under rated anyway.

JOHN: i think in some cases they might be the real stars.

JOHN: like, you know bat man?

JOHN: truth be told, i think he might just be some kind of gallivanting idiot.

JOHN: he's got all the money and skills in the world, and what does he do?

JOHN: he buys a fancy car to drive around in, then jumps out and starts punching crooks with his bare hands.

JOHN: then, when he gets horn swoggled by a wily clown with NO powers, and a LOT less money, who has to bail him out?

JOHN: his side kick of course.

JAKE: Yeah youre right!

JOHN: what is bat man even trying to prove? being all serious and "cool" looking.

JOHN: his side kick looks like he has a lot more fun, and smacks of confidence and self assurance, trotting around in his underpants.

JOHN: bat man probably doesn't even care much about stopping crime, it's more about walloping thugs and getting to feel cool.

JOHN: if he really cared about stopping bad guys, he'd probably use his fancy money to buy guns, and at LEAST show the criminals he's packing, to make them scared, if not surrender outright.

JOHN: i bet his side kick probably just has to wait for bat man to bungle things up with his stupid karate, and when he gets in trouble, the side kick just guns down all the crooks from a safe distance like a sensible person.

JAKE: Well i do love guns!!!

JAKE: ALSO fisticuffs.

JOHN: see? there you go.

JOHN: you're better than bat man already.

adventure time wizard city liveblog

well here we go

my last adventure time liveblog, i havent actually done one of these in MANY years... probably not since 2014

This music is i assume by one of the many musical artists Adam Muto listed on twitter, it rocks. It’s not as hardcore as Obsidian’s intro, but it’s suitably chill for the scene.

I’m less than halfway through the special, what the fuck. I wasn’t wrong when I said Wizard City had a lot on its plate. It’s noit that I’ve been particularly gripped up to this point, though to be fair I didn’t pause at all during the other specials barring Obsidian.

okay, it’s over :)

first thoughts out of the way: not a big fan of this special. it’s like watching a completely different show. it’s not got the PZSHAHH of the normal wizard city stuff and there weren’t a lot of funny jokes or even hearty moments in the thing.

it suffers from a lack of invested character interactions, much like BMO did. there was not a single main cast member in the whole thing! and like i said before, much of peppermint butler’s character in the show is based on his very sweet relationship to his mother, princess bubblegum, so when they showed a single (hilarious) photo of them together it made me sad we didn’t get any scenes with them together. it would have STOLEN this episode. and they teased the hunson golf photo, and death!!! and jake appeared in a photo T_T last jake appearance.

it also suffers because Peppermint Butler is clearly not himself, imo he was way more entertaining in the Together Again special, where we seem him back to his “normal” self.

i dont think peps being a dark wizard was something to “kill off” exactly. i wonder what was going on there? was that actually peps, or was that a spirit he cursed himself with based on himself? we at least know in the future he does become a dark wizard again, and even princess :) this special didn’t answer those questions but lol.

THE GOOD STUFF, because yes, there was a lot of good stuff!

God, I’m with Aracle and Maya on this - I LOVE Cadebra and her relationship to Pep. I wish she was even in more of this - I would love to watch the adventures of Cadebra and Pepbut in their first year of school, like in the end credits.

That, imo, is where the heart of the special lay - Peppermint Butler’s attempts to impress himself, versus Cadebra’s self acceptance and desire to follow her dreams of being a goofy goober, no matter what other people thought of her.

It turned out that Cadebra is a responsible student and family member. I really liked that. Her scenes with Abracadaniel were, somehow, my favourite in the entire special!

I like that theres a lot of cool magic towards the end of this special, and a lot of HORRIFYING DEATH. It wouldn’t be adventure time if you didn’t randomly kill off child characters. Poor Spader, I hated you but damn, what a grim fate.

I like that Bufo and Caledonius had this crush/hatred thing going on, but they were part of the same cult in the end.

I didn’t like the giant peps scene at the end, the monster was extremely milquetoast compared to the madness we usually get in AT. Obsidian, for example, had the awesome Larvo design. Nemesis had some INSANE dark magic!!!! I wish they drew more from that episode.

Considering how much Steve Little appears in this special, I do feel bad for Mace (little Peps). He said he would have really benefitted from coaching, but recieved none. He had to re-record his lines 3 times! Judging from his description of events, Wizard City was a hard time for him.

The wizard school did remind me, heavily, of both The Owl House and OK KO. Personally I was hoping AT would offer me something more insane, but I do love both of those shows, and I know Wizard City was on a really tight schedule.

I think they should have spent less time on the school bullying plot, and skipped straight to MURDER.

We did have a cold opening, not on par with Together Again’s at all, but damn!

I am wondering where I would put this in the watch list? I do think it should sit after Obsidian as the third special. The intro scene makes it clear this takes place at the same time as Obsidian!!!

Well, that was it, the last ep of AT for the next few years at least T_T

i think together again was the better finale, definitely. but wizard city feels pretty detached from AT for me, despite the familiar characters it tonally isn’t like the show other than the awesome brutal death scenes. I thought the last 11 minutes was easily the best in the special! Which, honestly, is how it should be, though I do wish it gripped me more. Maybe I’m just not the target audience for Wizard City? It feels like something I would find very compelling if I was a bit younger!

okok so im happy that tonights episode did so well with the whole “mentally ill people are usually the victim not the suspect” thing and Jake talking about therapy after everyne else was so forward about how therapy has helped them and im glad that we got some relationship development from Rosa but i just want to point out some things about Jake going to therapy specifically in this episode. im just kinda throwing things out here and im absolutely not doing a full organized analysis nor do i know where i would start, im just a fan of the show who noticed some things relating to more personal experiences

When Jake is caught in the office he assumes the identity of the next patient, of course we’ve seen this kind of plot line in tons of other shows but this time the patient he pretended to be happened to be struggling with DID. In the episode they refer to it as Multiple Personality Disorder which already is very outdated and kind of a disliked term and im sure imnot the only one upset with how they phrased it. Instead they should have used the current name, DID, Dissociative Identity Disorder. Or maybe they could have used OSDD which is in the same ballpark and personally i would have preferred it to MPD. I would also like to point out that the therapist seemed to blame Jake for not getting anything done. She said that if she was to help he would have to open up to her which is not a thing therapists should say. Yes, they should try to get you to open up but not in the manner she did. Instead they should have taken more time to discuss everything and she should have tried to make him feel more comfortable and make sure that he didnt feel forced and he was moving at his own pace.

alright so the premise for this au is basically “dave still had bro as a guardian but tyzias’ baby meteor crashed on top of dirks and smushed him” so alpha dave goes “well fuck i guess i have a troll baby now”

when i was talking to my roommate about this they put the mental image in my head of like, alpha dave with one of those baby carriers with grub tyzias just on his chest while he was fighting the clowns on the white house and while that may not be canon its Really Fucking Funny to me and i hope i get around to drawing it

um um anyways dave wasnt about to assign an alien baby a gender so he kind of left some of his shit for them and some shit hed think rose would leave for a girl or w/e but for the most part just stuff he Thought Would Be Cool– basically what dirk got originally but w some more variety and probably less anime shit because i actually like tyzias . anyways. they still get lil cal bc i feel like thats probably narratively important and for the most part tyzias is just like “yeah thats my puppet lil cal he’s pretty neat i guess. anyways”. obviously theyre going to treasure anything and everything dave left for them bc theyre sappy like that and literally dont have anything else.

it took a couple years for tyzias to realize how different they are from their human friends and they have this really deep insecurity stemming from when they realized theyre not a human like their ‘dad’/’bro’ but a troll like the condesce and they dont know SHIT or FUCK about troll culture or physiology except for whats out there for them to find which isnt a lot. so they get this weird irrational fear that if theyre not careful theyre gonna end up violent and bloodthirsty like )(IC who is a person who hurt not only dave but also rose and is actively making theirs n roxys lives hell and its a lot of “im so different from everyone i know and its in an arguably bad way”. especially wrt molting and blood color n stuff they dont have any explanations for anything except “im different from my friends and its weird and i dont want them to know because then they might think im weird or even BAD for being a troll”

they work REALLY hard on not letting this insecurity get in the way of who they want to be for their friends– which is to say they want to be someone dependable and a person to lean on and to look to for support. **!!blood player hours alert!!** tyzias feels responsible for the people around them (jane roxy jake) and wants to do what they can to ensure that they all stay safe and happy because other than a long-dead alpha dave these are the people that they have and thats really important to them.

i know theres no class or aspect doubling within the kids but i reaaaalllyyy wanna make them a seer of blood but might settle for mage. seer would help out wrt the game over bullshit because you have to think about where dirk was during the fight and why he wasnt IN it and why he didnt go with john and roxy to the new timeline and stuff. these are all things that make me wanna reread homestuck so i can get a cohesive thing going on. anyways.

dirks version of masculinity affected a LOT of stuff in homestuck and so did lil hal and with both of those things gone u gotta think about like. for example jake and how hes all gung-ho about being a Dude and Manly and the way he goes about exploring his gender kind of cluelessly. and i dont want to make tyzias more ‘woke’ than they necessarily WOULD be in their scenario but i like to think theyd get a decent grasp on what it meant to be a butch lesbian– or at least enough to find comfort and joy and happiness in it while learning more about it and themselves as they grow. the internet exists on earth b. im allowed.

anyways jake and tyzias are best friends and its the most wonderful dynamic thats come out of this thing (there are a lot of good dynamics. i have a lot of very specific self indulgent things going on in this au.)

[ tyzias noogying jake and saying “hey you fuckin’ nerd” while he yells “JEEPERS, ZIZI” ]

tyzias and jake get to talk about things like masculinity and what even is a gender in a post-apocalyptic wasteland/on a deserted island and i think esp with tyzias’ aversion to showing what they look like or sending pics jake would go about assuming that tyzias is his Dude Friend until one day they have a conversation where tyzias goes “no bro im a lesbian” and jake has this moment of like. “… :D well thats neat buddy”

anyways tyzias encourages jake to go out and explore the island in SAFE and HEALTHY ways and they voice call while hes out and about so they can sort-of hang out as best as you can across spacetime and its fun. they like talking about stories (usually movies and shows) together bc its their common interest.

zizi is really into storytelling and writing which is kind of a mirror of dirk/dave being really into drawing while holding onto zizi’s interest in literature and history n stuff.

as for roxy i think itd be really neat if tyzias’ “what is gender in a post-apocalyptic wasteland” thing inspired them to think about themselves and what their gender is vs. janes and maybe (or definitely) they come out as nonbinary and jane gets to be confused by zizi and roxys “weird pronoun preferences”

shit there is SO MUCH to think about with this. fuck. send me more specific questions so i dont just get caught up in my brain with all this. theres so much.

What was your inspiration for this blog? hoo boy well,,, ultimately i thought of them rooming together and got emotional and made a huge list of headcanons and was like ,,, why not run an askblog for a bit ill just abandon it after three asks lets have some fun. but somehow im still here and i got sucked in by the complexity of michael and jeremy. i know that sounds kinda silly but just, as someone who is dealing with a lot of similar things, like dependency issues and abandonment issues and depression and anxiety, having these fun functioning character to explore was such a gift for me. i believe honestly thats why im still here and doing this. being able to try and portray a healthy relationship and a healthy way of coping and growing has helped me a lot this past month and given me an outlet i didnt have before. TBH THO the main reason i made this blog if imma be real with u guys id because i didnt like the treatment of a lot of these issues in the fandom. it made me very upset to see depression used as an plot device and michaels dependency issues treated as romantic so i wanted to make a blog that had little to no angst. ANYWAYS somehow im still here ,,, gvrkjvrnkjfd sorry i rambled

an art style question. how do you keep the design of characters consistent from frame to frame? my characters they look a lil different every time I draw em (or a lot different) and it tends to disrupt the flow of my comics/animations ohh boy hoo wee props for doing animations im too scared to give that a whirl but!! it helps that i draw all the panels for an ask on one canvas! so if my next panel is going to be the same character in the same spot just in a diff pose i keep the lower layer on just at low opacity so i can use it as a ref! that helps me a lot!

Character Arcs and Ghost Army’s

So I thought of something while at work and it got me wondering, am I the only person that was kind of disappointed with how the Ghost Army came together in the end?

Someone has probably written this meta before but really, Tavros bringing together the Ghost Army with the power of friendship was probably one of the least satisfying ways for that resolution to come about. In reality, I honestly believe Karkat should have been the one to orchestrate bringing the army together with help from Tavros and GO Karkat, more meta and context under the cut-

Tavros

First off, Tavros is good natured and sweet but he’s not exactly the best at being inspiring or organizing large groups, or even really making friends (like remember how awkward and cringey his interaction with Jade was) and more importantly, bringing the Ghost Army together as a resolution to his arc(?) gives the idea that all along Tavros’ problem was that he wasn’t useful. Yes, he got to shove it in Vriska’s face a bit, which was satisfying and we got to see him be relevant to the climax of the plot but the thing is, the way to end a character’s arc should never be through them gaining the approval of their abuser.

Tavros’ problem was never that Vriska was right about him but that he believed she was right and thought that he deserved to be treated that way by her for not being confident enough to stand up for himself. In that same vein, any sort of parallel to the Summoner shouldn’t have been involved in his resolution either because being more like Rufioh or becoming a hero was what he THOUGHT would fix him in a way Vriska would respond to, ignoring the fact that Tavros didn’t need fixing in the first place.

We never had any indications Tavros didn’t like who he was before Vriska’s abuse started and I would have loved for the story to actually reinforce that it was always just Vriska’s imposing on him these fantasies of being like Mindfang and building him to his greatest potential that was the REAL issue and the resolution to that being him to realize he didn’t need to be what she wanted. Tavros didn’t need to raise an army to jauntily dance in Vriska’s face, I honestly would have preferred if he didn’t even care enough about her to do so.

Karkat

So. Fuck, this arc conclusion. Yeah, Karkat jumping straight into LE only to get obliterated was kind of funny and we got to see him defeat the undefeatable Clover because he became romantically interested in Karkat was appropriate but you know what I would have loved to see? Karkat getting closure with his other selves. Karkat getting to realize the true depth of his path as a knight of blood player, which is all about bonds and weaponizing them for the benefit of the party.

Sure, we’re told he’s a vital part of victory due to Echidna and that he’s destined to become troll President in the new world. That’s nice. But honestly the fact that Vriska, who apparently knows the whole ins n outs of the new session but somehow wasn’t aware of the Ghost Army being disbanded before Meenah’s debriefing was just .... weird. Along with the fact that she never considered to contact Karkat to even ask for advice on how to reband it even though she herself is canonically on record for admitting he was almost too great at bringing the two troll parties together during their session, is also just bleh. Like why the fuck wasn’t Karkat even a little involved in this plan just bewilders me because in accordance with his entire role of Hivebent, he would have been by far the most capable of it. Like yeah, he had given up on the idea of leadership and his being more concerned with just being involved as an equal to the rest of his friends was a great development, but then actually let him be involved. All the other kids got to do these grandeur things like take on the two Jacks, Condy, even Jake got to take on the entirety of the Midnight Crew.

Sure, Karkat got to defeat Clover, but the thing is, Karkat’s whole situation was never about HIM fighting or beating anyone, instead it was about surrounding himself with actually strong players and helping them work cohesively enough together to reach a common goal. Sort of sounds like bringing together a bunch of disinterested ghosts to form an army, right????

Lastly why the heck was the last convo he ever had with himself from the first intermission in Act 6 when so much of Act 5 was taken up with it and was built up to be one of the biggest failings of his personality? Like we have good junks of conversations just referring to how much he hated himself and how ridiculous it was of him to think he was his own kismesis. Why did that all get dropped like a steamy hot shit instead of being later on used to show how much he matured and changed? fucking y’all, I have to stop here cause I will and can go on. Anyways

How I wish things would have gone down.

Ok, now that I’ve set up some context for why I wish things were different, here’s how I’d actually go about doing it.

Have Vriska on the lilypad mention Karkat refusing her offer to build the army together, include Karkat giving his big spiel about not being a leader anymore.

Jump to when Meenah and Vriska meet up and have the debriefing, and when Meenah asks what they’ll do about it, just have Vriska says not to worry about it.

Jump to Kanaya and Karkats visit to Echidna, but instead of the conversation they had happening, we see her flying to Derse as she’s messaging Rose about how her mission was complete and she was heading to the Batterwitch battle, and have her reveal what Echidna said there, last panel jumping to show a knocked out Karkat. (Not only does this work with my idea but fuck yes one last private Rosemary pesterlog, where hopefully they say “ I love you “ at the end.)

Anyways Karkat wakes up in the dream bubbles but instead of meeting Meenah he instead!! meets GO karkat!! You could even make the panel parallel with that panel of Vriska and Tavros meeting face to face after their sprite exploded, GO Karkat just waking up too, after his death.

(cut it off there to the strider reunion just for pacing sake)

When we see them again they’re arguing, GO angry because of course this is what his death would look like and wow YOURE the alpha karkat what the fuck, why are you asleep your whole group is in a battle rn and Retcon is just like BITCH PLEASE WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE YOU DIED when suddenly enter in Tavros (you could also throw in sollux and the girls in the bg, sollux reasoning for not coming closer to say hi being he wanted to avoid himself arguing with TWO karkats and how embarrassing it would be)

anyways Tavros enters into the conversation and surprisingly these two karkats are a lot easier to calm down and auspicize than when Jade did it during Beta session. Tavros mentions that he’s glad he could be useful and feels like he’s done a good thing, even if its really small like this.

Upon which the Retcon Karkat mentions he had thought about Tavros during his three year trip and how he wished he had given him more special attention as his teammate (since they were both on red) instead of allowing him to get so close to Vriska and how Vriska was the real problem in that whole situation (sort of explaining his exaggerated hostility towards her) and how he wished he could tell his Tavros that. GO speaks up about how he never thought of it himself cause he was too distracted during his trip but that he actually agreed with it and passes that onto Tavros since technically that’s his tavros (lmao pissing off retcon for stealing his idea)

This leads on to the other conclusions Retcon had come to over the trip about his failings in being a leader and how he would change, (GO disagreeing with some of them, leading to more explanation, and GO agreeing, along with giving his own perspective to the disaster that was the Beta timeline) they have the conversation about Abraxas during this too and how they both wish they could still do something to help the alpha session.

Tavros speaks up about the Ghost army, which GO remembers but Retcon has no clue what the fuck he’s talking about.

Shoot back to Vriska who is still talking to Meenah, and when the army comes back into convo checks her phone and says it’s taken care of, showing one last memo created by both the karkats calling all other karkats in the viel to gather the ghosts. All the karkats bring their session trolls along with alphas and other ghost friends they made along the way.

Vriska and Meenah arrive at the army and Vriskas glad her plan work (she had no way of knowing this would happen but she’ll take credit for it)

She sees Tavros in the crowd and calls to him but he ignores her and instead is seeing meeting Aradia. She assumes he just didnt hear her.

GO and Retcon are seen together on the outskirt of the army and they say goodbye, GO saying he much rather find some ghosts from his session instead of fight (he died today he is tired) and Retcon surprisingly respecting his decision, and GO admits he doesn’t know how or why this Karkat got to live but that a part of him was glad he did. They give a heart warmingly flip eachother off and seperate, Retcons convo with Meenah is slightly different but takes the same course mostly.

During Collide we briefly see GO Karkat while Retcon gets obliterated (with Jade and Dave) losing his mind.
