Xander is basically Peter Parker. He’s a genius who loves building robots and other creative innovations, enjoys Star Wars, and is a protege with a genius mentor who serves a father figure to him but in his case, it happens to be his actual father (though I’m sure that his grandfather took that place in his life before his death). Also, he literally got all the brains in his family, from his father, Isaiah Alexander, and from his mother’s side, his maternal grandfather, Tobias Hawthorne himself. Though, in a way, even though they aren’t truly related, maybe he picked up some indirectly from his uncle Toby.

If you will take Christ for your choice, and become His servant, and let Him save you and rule you, then all the seeking understanding will find in Him, and in the manifold and endless " treasures of wisdom and knowledge " into which His name breaks - like the sunbeam when it strikes upon the mirror, and is shattered into a million dancing brightnesses - all that the intellect can require. If you will take Christ for your Saviour and your King, then that mastering will which so often leads us astray, and those passions which so often plunge us into filth and mire, will own His guidance; and the lion shall lie down with the lamb, and the bear in the menagerie of your heart will eat straw like the ox, and you will be able to lay your hand on the cockatrice den and not be stung, and all the wild beasts will be tamed, and your feebleness as that of "a little child shall lead them."

If you will take Christ for your Saviour and your King, the disease of your natures will be healed, which He can only heal. For, oh! no man looks all the facts in the face, or has made a choice worthy of calling by that name, who has not looked the fact of sin in the face, and settled how he is going to get rid of the three-pronged dart which it flings - guilt, and punishment, and power - if he does not take Christ’s way of getting rid of it. There is none that can touch the central corruption of humanity, none that can bring pardon, none that can enable us to shake the venomous beast that has fastened on our hands into the fire, and feel no harm, except Christ only. You may "cut yourselves with knives and lancets after their manner till the blood gush out," and cry to all the gods besides, and to yourself, who are the Jupiter of them all, from morning to evening, to get rid of the fact of sin, and there will be no voice nor answer, " nor any that regarded."

If you will take Christ as your Saviour, and serve Him, you will find it possible to live more noble, helpful, manly lives for God and the world than by any other means. If you will take Christ for your Saviour, and yourselves be enrolled as His obedient servants, then you will secure for yourselves a future without a cloud, in which ills have no power to harm, and all things are transmuted into good, and death has no bitterness and eternity no terror. Let Baal come and do the like. Till he does, I urge that no claims can for a moment be set by the side of Christ’s.

[In yesterday’s post we learned by Hebrew definitions—that when the King of Tyrus had been disabled and cast down to the ground by Jehovah—kings of the earth gathered to examine his parts and were astonished and terrified when a fire broke out from his insides and burnt him to ashes as they beheld!]

And the day before, we learned that Tyrus was an island similar to Atlantis. Isaiah’s chapter 23 is all about Tyrus; He said this: “Howl, ye inhabitants of the isle. Is this your joyous city, whose ‘ANTIQUITY is of ancient days’? her own feet shall carry her afar off to sojourn. And when the forbidden files of Rome’s secret libraries are discovered—I believe we’ll see that they had fled to Mars before Ephraim’s tribe and the Assyrians (Romans); and that the Assyrians had a place similar to the ‘space station’ to which they had sent the most ardent of the Christians. But the Tyrians, after being out of commission for 70 years according to Isaiah—returned to her trafficking and provided ‘sufficient food and durable clothing’ for them - Isaiah 23:18.

Shadow Puppets AU - The Golden Guard

By the time Hunter was created, Belos had used about half of Caleb's bones, however because Grimwalkers are so difficult to make, only fifteen grew to maturity including Hunter himself.

I decided not to use any of the Grimwalkers shown in canon. A lot of them are still in development but here's a brief summary of them.

Adam- was active 2 years, Philip initially tried to use the Grimwalker spell to resurrect Caleb, but Adam's birth proved that wasn't how it worked, and Philip never quite stopped resenting him for that. Adam was roughly 19 when he was born and died protecting Belos in the early years of the Crusades. He never had the title of Golden Guard in life, but Belos bestowed it after his death and gave it to the subsequent Grimwalkers.

Nathaniel - Active three years, appearing to be in his early 20s accidentally killed by Belos during the Crusades when he was experimenting with artificial magic.

Levi- was the youngest Grimwalker until Hunter, he was born at the age of twelve and lived five years, he was assassinated during the Crusades when he was seventeen. After his death, Belos started telling everyone that Levi was his son.

Isaiah- Was active four years, appeared to be roughly eighteen when he was born, he was Golden Guard when Belos became emperor, and served for a year before he was killed by Belos after getting caught with a Wild Witch. He was proficient with plant magic, and in particular loved roses. His lover was a male witch who got away, Belos never saw him again.

Ezekiel - Active for five years, born at twenty and was a dedicated Golden Guard until he was murdered by an ambitious scout that wanted his position.

Jasper -Appeared to be about seventeen when he was born, and was active two years, hunted down and executed by Belos after meeting Flapjack and betraying him. The blue markings on his face are tattoos, not scars.

Noah- Born at sixteen and active four years, he was drowned by Belos during paranoid episode

Eden - Active for 6 years, the only female Grimwalker that grew to maturity she was roughly 25 when she was born. Eden had a proficiency for Bard magic and could sing a special song to put Belos to sleep when his curse was acting up- that song being a lullaby that Caleb used to sing to him. She confused her devotion to Belos as romantic love and committed suicide by jumping off the balcony when he rejected her.

Brutus - He was born at age 21 and was active for four years. He genuinely believed in the Emperor's philosophies, but also that Belos was being too kind to the Wild Witches. He was executed after he attempted to usurp power.

Milo - Was sixteen when he was born, and lived three years before he was publicly petrified by Belos after showing sympathy for, and releasing captured Wild Witches. Milo was especially good at brewing potions and the burn on his face is actually from a potion that exploded on him

Matthew and Alexander - The "twinwalkers" Matthew served as Golden Guard while Alexander was the head of the Emperor's Coven. They were born at twenty-three and lived five years before Alexander fell in love with a while Witch and abandoned the Coven. He and his lover were hunted down and killed by Matthew, but he let their child live. Upon returning to the palace, he was killed by Belos who claimed it was a mercy since he knows the pain carried from killing a brother.

William - was the most loyal of the Grimwalkers he lived around Eleven years and unexpectedly died on a mission. Will knew he was a Grimwalker and that whomever he was made from was important to Belos but never knew their actual relationship. He also thought he was the only Grimwalker Belos ever made.

"Golden Guard" - Because Will was still active when he was born, Belos didn't bother naming this Grimwalker and mixed him in with the general scouts where he later grew to be Darius's mentor. He was promoted to Golden Guard following Will's death but Belos was devastated after losing will he refused to learn this Grimwalker's name and only ever called him "Golden Guard". Because he had relationships outside of Belos, this Grimwalker was more defiant than some of the others and was ultimately killed after standing up to him one too many times.

Hunter - Currently active. Hunter became the youngest Grimwalker when he was born at eight years old. Belos raised him as his nephew, and originally called him "prince" with no intention of him ever taking the position of Golden Guard, Hunter only took it up after the death of his predecessor and it was meant to only be temporary until the next Grimwalker was ready. When Hunter asks Belos about his father, he tells him stories of Caleb and Will

The Bone pit- The rest of the Grimwalkers all either never made it out of the ground or were defective Grimwalkers he mercy killed. Regardless of their status, Belos buried them all in a mass grave with a Golden Guard mask etched with a name on the back to mark them. The ones that reached maturity were buried in the same grave alongside their "siblings"

I’ve come to realize this grimwalkers needed their own palisman! So here we go!

Alexander’s palisman was the easiest of them all since his hair have always reminded me of lions; Lions symbolize courage, protection, leadership, passionate relationships, and strong self-esteem. Lion is a powerful “golden leader” that uses integrity and compassion to help shift the world towards positive change.

Alexander is the eldest which means he has a strong sense of protection over his family, he also has a strong self confidence when he’s in charge of some project, he’s also the most passionate on his work and uses every recourse in his possession to make it absolute perfect.

His palisman also has Bat wings and that’s bc Bats have qualities of both the bird and the mouse, rendering this animal a symbol of ANDROGYNE; it also has strong associations with darkness and obscurity, as a creature of the night. In Christian terms, the bat is viewed as "the bird of the devil", an incarnation of the Prince of Darkness.

That way we can view the duality in Alexander’s character, being a charismatic leader, a golden statue and a responsible role model that also struggles to overcome his own struggles with being a control freak that will keep all of his teammates in the dark in favor of protecting them from the truth or to do what he thinks is the best.

Allegra’s palisman was originally meant to be a frog which represents Poison, Hallucination, Transcendence: The Alchemical Amphibian. One of the other forms of power that frogs and toads wield in many cultures and myths is chemical, or alchemical: frogs are viewed as the purveyors of poison or of powerful drugs, which can heal or induce hallucinations. Frogs also represent wealth, abundance, ancient wisdom, rebirth, and good luck.

THIS PALISMAN DESIGNS MIGHT CHANGE IN THE FUTURE

Allegra is the first youngest of the group (before hunter at least), that’s why i wanted to represent her intelligence and hyperactivity with an animal that is known for their energy but at the same time for their adaptation capability.

For some reason i also wanted to add a scavengers features to symbolize her interest in necromancy, she’s a very intelligent and curious person but she can’t let things go, much less people. Her necessity to know everything lets her to be TERRIFIED of death bc it’s unknown for her

This also led her to harm herself a lot in pursuit of understanding what death really feels like, it’s only luck that she didn’t accidentally ended up killing herself in one of her “experiments”, but somehow she seems to not notice or maybe she actively ignores it. She constantly hallucinates with death people talking to her, her own brain is trying to convince herself there’s life beyond death.

Isaiah’s palisman was quite a problem, I wasn’t convince with any of the animals was a good reflection of him. At first i wanted it to be a bird like a parrot or a monkey or a fenix, but none of them fit right for me. Then it hit me; Isaiah is a very lonely, depressed, melancholic and self-hated character. Someone who looks very thought and threatening but in reality he doesn’t care about anything.

That’s why his perfect companion would be a shark; in tarot Shark speaks of how you survive, and how willing you are to keep moving, even in the face of adversity. Shark is a feared predator, and if Shark is showing up in your life it does so to guide you through conflict and tough decision making. This creature reminds you of your personal power and the inner strength necessary to get rid of negativity.

I don’t know how to draw fishes but i did my best. i decided to draw it with fins that act like tiny little legs, just bc it looked cute, no other reason.

Isaiah is the second oldest, he can relate a lot to the others and acts like the guide they need when there’s a dangerous or stressful situations. When needed he’s the shield or the knife, but when not he just passes by calmly.

He has an unwillingness to be victimised or intimidated by others. He’s quite emotionless and steely yet always seemingly maintain his sense of calm and determination.

He’s constantly seem as the confidant, Alexander relies on him when things are getting too much for him and he’s constantly ask for guidance or help in personal matters. Isaiah is not really afraid of managing other people's vulnerability and emotions (“be and let be” ) but he would rather drown his own insecurities in alcohol than open up to the people he loves.

This leads him to an unhealthy coping mechanism in which he would close off and drink until he collapses. His self worth is base in how he manage to survive all the trauma in his life, contrary to Allegra he’s not scare of death but he doesn’t chases it either. He’s a very calm person, even if drunk he never chases problems unless someone he loves is in danger or distress.

BACKSTORY

Eleanor Marie Thorne was born on a snowy night of March in 1881, alongside her twin brother Marcellus, although they grew up differently, they had loyalty to one another and a sense of siblinghood, although they teased one another plenty.

Just like her mother, she was sorted into Slytherin and was made Prefect and Head Girl, achieving a flawless curriculum, being a quiet and friendly girl, but an overachiever. She was a fashionista through and through, always wearing the best designers, with her gorgeous, luscious and thick brown curls that could've rivalled Empress Sissi's long hair and was a fashion leader, always dressing for the House of Worth. Her great fashion sense would be passed down to her niece Enya and being a fashion icon would be mandatory within the House Thorne.

Isaiah Jesus- Cheating

I sigh while lying on Isaiah's chest, his hand moving up and down my arm

"I have to go" I sadly say

"I wish you could stay here" he sighs also sad

"So do I"

"Why can't you just leave him?" Isaiah is referring to my husband, Alexander

"How many people do you know that have left their husbands and divorced?" once again Isaiah sighs "exactly"

"We can't keep doing this YN" I sit up looking at Isaiah with a frown while holding up the bedsheets

"What? you were the one who suggested this"

"I know, it's just.. I want to be able to hold you and kiss you in public. Hiding us is so hard" Isaiah and I have to keep our relationship a secret, but the Blinders know all thanks to Polly walking in on us one day

"I know it is. I'd like to do that as well, but my husband..."

"The husband who doesn't treat you right"

"Is that's not fair. He just works a lot"

"Hmm if that's what it's called. YN you and I both know he doesn't love you. You married because your parents wanted you to for some reason. You've been married for 4 years and you haven't had a child yet. Why is that?"

"Thats no ones business" I get out of Isaiah's bed wrapped up and grab my clothes off the floor and go into his bathroom.

I come out fully clothed and now he is also fully dressed

"YN I didn't mean to upset you, but normally when you marry you have a child almost immediately. Talk to me YN" Isaiah takes my hands in his. I sigh and close my eyes bracing myself for this. I open my eyes back up and look at Isaiah

"When we first got married I fell pregnant. He didn't want the baby so made me have an abortion, but instead of taking me somewhere legit he took me to a back ally. Things went wrong, we thought it would be ok, but.. 2 years ago he decided we should have a baby so we tried and tried but nothing. The night I met you we had an argument how it's apparently all my fault. Since that day we haven't slept together. He no longer sleeps in our bed and I know he's sleeping around, but what am I supposed to do?"

"I'm so sorry. You deserve so much more than him. Neither of you are happy. I know it's not a normal thing to divorce your husband, but..." before Isaiah can finish his sentence the door at the front of the house opens

"YN?" I hear Tommy's voice "YN I know your here" I frown looking at Isaiah. Tommy's footsteps seem to get louder and louder until the bedroom door bursts open and Tommy is stood with his eyes closed "are you decent?"

"Yeah what's going on Tommy?" I frown as Tommy opens his eyes

"It's Alexander. He's in hospital"

"What?is he ok?" I ask

"It's not looking good. Come on I'll drive ya to the hospital"

When arriving Alexander is lying in the bed asleep

"What happened?" I ask the doctor

"He was stabbed last night, unfortunately it was already infected by the time he go here. You might need to prepare for the worst. I'm very sorry" I sit down next to the bed and take Alexander's hand in mine "I'll leave you alone for a bit"

"How are you love?" Polly asks me handing me a cup of tea

"I don't know. I'm sad of course, but I also feel.. free"

"The funeral will be next week YN" Tommy walks in the door of my house with his brothers and cousin behind him

"Also found out he left the Garrison with another woman. She was the one who stabbed him, did it for money. We dealt with it" John sits down

"Speaking of money. Alexander has left you everything" Arthur says getting himself a drink

"Thank I guess"

"Think about it this way, now you and Isaiah don't have to sneak about" I glare at Finn

"My husband just died. I don't think the best thing would be to announce that I have a new partner" Finn shrugs his shoulders and walks off

"Things will be alright" Isaiah kisses the top of my head while I continue to drink my tea.

Maybe I can finally be happy.

Music For the Soul

The Comforting God (Isaiah 40:1)

This magnificent chapter is the prelude or overture to the grand music of the second part of the prophecies of Isaiah. Its first words are its keynote: " Comfort ye. comfort ye My people." That purpose is kept steadily in view throughout; and in this introductory chapter the prophet points to the one foundation of hope and consolation for Babylonian exiles, or for modern Englishmen, to that grand vision of the enthroned God "sitting on the circle of the earth, before whom the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers."

"They build too low who build beneath the sky."

For nations and for individuals, in view of political disasters or of private sorrows, the only hold-fast to which cheerful hope may cling is the old conviction, "The Lord God Omnipotent reigneth."

Notice how, first, the prophet points to the unwearied God; and then his eyes drop from Heaven to the clouded, saddened earth, where there are the faint and the weak, and the strong becoming faint, and the youths fading and becoming weak with age. Then he binds together these two opposites - the unwearied God and the fainting man- in the grand thought that He is the Giving God, who bestows all His power on the weary. And see how, finally, he rises to the blessed conception of the wearied man becoming like the Unwearied God." They shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint."

And let me say, here is a lesson for us to learn of meditative reflection upon the veriest commonplaces of our religion. There is a tendency amongst us all to forget the indubitable, and to let our religious thought be occupied with the disputable and secondary parts of revelation rather than with the plain deep verities which form its heart and centre. The commonplaces of religion are the most important. Everybody needs air, light, bread, and water. Dainties are for the few; but the table which our religion sometimes spreads for them is like that at a rich man’s feast - plenty of rare dishes, but never a bit of bread; plenty of wine and wine-glasses, but not a tumblerful of spring water to be had. Every pebble that you kick with your foot, if thought about and treasured, contains the secret of the universe. The commonplaces of our faith are the food upon which our faith will most richly feed.

And so here, in the old, old Word, that we all take for granted as being so true that we do not need to think about it, lies the source of all consolation-the Hope for men, for churches, for the world. We all have times, depending on mood or circumstances, when things seem black and we are weary. This great truth will shine into our gloom like a star into a dungeon. Are our hearts to tremble for God’s truth to-day? Are we to share in the pessimist views of some faint-hearted and little-faith Christians? Surely as long as we can remember the name of the Lord, and His unwearied arm, we have nothing to do with fear or sadness for ourselves, or for His Church, or for His world.
